Somewhere in the desert, and very far from the caves, Kron and the herd were still continuing their way to the nesting grounds, but the herd was getting tired from all the walking, especially the baby Iguanodons who were tired the most.

They were all breathing heavily.

One of the baby Iguanodons collapsed to the ground, leaving the other one to bleat as he was trying to get one of the dinosaurs to help them.

Kron heard them, but snorted and continued on as he didn’t care who gets left behind. The second baby cooed while trying to get his brother back up again, but wasn’t any good.

He bleated again at the herd who were now away from them and unable plus tired to hear them. He tried pushing him back up again, but still no good.

He bleated again before they both saw Neera coming to them. She smiled at them as she softly said, “It’s okay, little ones. We’re going to make it.”

The babies chittered as Neera gently pushed the baby back up to his feet. And it worked. The two walked back to the herd while Neera sadly looked behind her.

There was still no sign of Aladar, the old dinosaurs, the lemurs or any of the Equestrians. Not even after what happened yesterday.

This was making Neera sad and worried at the same time. She was starting to love Aladar, but Kron got in the way of her trying to help him. Now that they all left before the Carnotaurs came, she started to wonder if they got to them before they had the chance to escape.

She let out a sad sigh before going back to the herd.

Back inside the cave, the rockslide have saved Aladar, Bruton, the Equestrians and their friends, but now it was morning, they were going deeper into the cave to try and find their way out.

They’ve been walking hours with no sign of an escape or any way that can help them leave the cave, that they were starting to get tired and bored.

They got so bored that Zini tried to lighting up the mood by playing I Spy.

“Okay, okay. Let’s do it again. Let’s do it again. Uh, I spy with my little eye…” Zini was interrupted by Yar saying, “A rock.”

“You got it again! Ooh! You are good!”

“Can we stop it with the I Spy game please? It’s getting annoying, and there’s nothing else to spy on than just rocks!” Rainbow said crossly.

“Aw, come on, Rainbow. Cheer up, it’s only a game,” said Pinkie.

“Yeah, when there are other things to choose than just the same thing,” said Pipp in annoyed tone.

“Well, I’ll tell you what I spy,” said Eema, “A dead end.”

And she was right. They’ve reached the dead end of the cave. It was nothing but a pile of rocks, and no way of going any further or getting out. They were stuck.

“What do we do now?” Yar asked as Plio stood near him.

“I guess we just go back,” said Aladar as he started to turn round and head on back to where they started.

“Go back?! But that bit is blocked, remember?! We’re trapped!” Rarity shouted.

“What choice do we have? We can’t get out this way. We have to go back,” said Bruton as he began to follow Aladar.

“I’m sorry, Rarity, but they’re right,” said Twilight before following the dinosaurs.

“No need to apologise, Twi. We know there’s nothing else we can,” said Applejack as she followed the alicorn with everyone else. But then, Zini started sniffing something. “Hold on a moment.”

Zini leaped onto Baylene’s snort.

“Zini, what is it?” Suri asked before leaping onto Baylene’s snort as Zini sniffed again.

“Do you smell that?”

Suri sniffed the scent too, and started to understand what Zini was sniffing. “Yeah,” she said as the two lemurs jumped off Baylene’s snort and onto the pile of rocks.

Aladar started sniffing it as well before going back to the pile of rocks which made Bruton and the Equestrians stop and looked at Aladar in confusion.

“What’s going on?” Sunny asked.

“I’m not sure,” said Bruton as they went back to the pile of rocks. Zini moved the tiny rocks from the top of the pile which made a light shine from the outside and into the cave. The group were surprised as to what they’re seeing.

Eema gasped, “Get a load of that.”

“Good show,” said Baylene.

“A way out! Yes! Haha!” Pipp cheered happily.

“It wasn’t a dead end, after all! It was just a big pile blocking an entrance!” Hitch said.

“Everybody stand back. We’re outta here!” Aladar said before charging to the pile. He began to push the big rock from the pile, but as he pushed it aside, it started to cause another rockslide. Zini and Suri noticed this and quickly leaped away from the pile.

“Aladar, look out!” Bruton cried.

Aladar jumped away from the pile as the rockslide covered the pile even more and blocked the light. Once it was over, Aladar saw that it was now blocked for good.

“No!” He shouted before going back to the pile and tried to pushing one of the rocks to try and get it to move, but it wasn’t any good. Aladar stopped and breathed heavily while looking at his friends and family who can tell he was getting upset from what just happened.

“Aladar?” Lightning said, but Aladar didn’t listened. Instead, he roared angrily and tried pushing the pile again which led to Lightning getting scared and ran to his mother. Fluttershy gently hugged her son in comfort while they watched poor Aladar trying to destroy the pile until he decided to give up.

The Iguanodon exhaled deeply, realising that there was no other way of getting out that way now while the others looked at him with Url dropping his stick on the ground.

“Well, now what are we going to do?” Rainbow asked.

Twilight was trying to think of a way to help them all get out of the cave until she saw Flurry placing an eye on the rocks. Curious to what she was doing, she walked over to her and asked, “Hey, sweetie, what are you doing?”

“Trying to hear which rocks is the safest to pull so they can fall without causing another rock slide. Not sure if there is one, but I want to at least try so we can escape.”

Shining can tell Flurry was trying to find a way out of the cave without causing another rockslide or any possible way that might get her in trouble, and not in a way that shows he’s still overprotecting her daughter. He was about go over and help her, but he stopped as he saw Applejack approaching the filly and pushed away from the rocks.

“Why don’t leave that for the adults to handle, Flurry? The last thing we need is another cave in and unable to get out,” said Applejack.

“Wha…and you think that another rockslide is gonna be done by me, even if it was just an accident and I do find the right rock to help open the entrance?”

“Well, you did caused a snow storm when you broke the Crystal Heart and caused an avalanche back at the Tree of Life. So it is best we don’t any of those happen again.”

Flurry had never felt so hurt by words like that in her life. She actually heard the farm pony say that she might cause another rockslide, similar to how she caused a snow storm and an avalanche, and told her to leave the situation to the adults like her trying to help wasn’t needed. Even Shining couldn’t believe what Applejack just said to his daughter. It also reminded him how he treated her.

“I was only a baby when that happened, and I didn’t mean to as I couldn’t control my magic! And I didn’t know that the avalanche was gonna happen!” Flurry said crossly.

“Ah just think it’s best we deal with this so nothing else happens.”

“Oh and I’m just somepony who’s gonna make things worse, even if it’s just a small accident? This coming from a farmer who abandoned my aunt over somepony she only met for one day and only cared about the false wedding than her friend, family and the entire Equestria!”

“Don’t take that tone with me, young filly! We had many problems like this, I’m just trying not let it be a problem that we won’t be able to fix!”

“More like trying to stop me from thinking magic can solve the problem, especially since you hate somepony using magic around your farm.”

Applejack got very angry after Flurry just said that. Sure, she and her family never use magic on their farm, but she never said she hated somepony using magic around there, even if they were just helping a bit.

“I never said that!” She yelled sternly, “Me and my family are Earth Ponies, and we never use magic for any chores, especially on my farm! Ah just want us to get out with no huge problems, even from what you might do! And you already done enough! Breaking the Crystal Heart, stressing us out with your uncontrollable magic, causing an avalanche, letting those Carnotaurs find us. Need I say more?”

The old dinosaurs, lemurs and the other Equestrians were in deep shock and cross after hearing and seeing Applejack speak like that to Flurry Heart, even Shining was in shock. It still reminded him about how he treated her daughter, and he wasn’t happy about it. Lightning got scared by Applejack’s outburst at Flurry as he hid underneath his mother’s mane.

Flurry’s lower lip quivered, as she tried to keep the tears from spilling.

“Y-Y-You know what…” Flurry stammered. “I’ve said nothing, but try to help out and fix things, even after all the accidents I’ve made, and what do I get in return? You yell at me and tell me I can’t help, because of things I’ve done! Thank you so much…Guess I can see you don’t think I’m worthy of being the next princess.”

And then Flurry abruptly turned around and walked off as she faced a corner of the cave, sat down and let her tears run free. Applejack was slightly stunned over how the filly spoke to her. She turned and saw Twilight looking shockingly, but crossly, at her friend.

“What?” Applejack asked.

“What was that? What was that all about?” Twilight asked crossly.

“Ah was just trying to keep her from making things worse for us and getting in trouble with your brother!”

“What? Like he was gonna do last night? He wasn’t going to yell at her, he knew she didn’t mean to let that rock get the Carnotaurs’ attention!”

“And how do you know that?” Asked the farm pony.

“Because I heard Cadence telling him that Flurry thinks he was gonna yell at her, and he said he wasn’t gonna,” answered Twilight, “That proves he wasn’t gonna do what he did back at the Tree of Life.”

“So you were ears dropping last night then?” Applejack said crossly.

“I was not ears dropping! I just overheard them talking last night and…Oh, why am I even arguing on what I did?! What I should be asking is, why did you treat Flurry like that? She was just trying to help!”

“Because, like I said a few times, I just wanted to make sure we have no more worse problems like we had before!”

“Even when she wasn’t around when those problems got worst and when none of them was her fault?! That’s hardly a good reason at all!” Twilight said crossly.

“Well, maybe I wouldn’t be like this to her if your brother hadn’t decided to put her through the princess exams!” Applejack suddenly realised that she just opened her big mouth and revealed the actual reason why she was like that to Flurry. Twilight was in shock of concern before glaring crossly at Applejack while saying, “Is that it? All because Shining decided to put her through the princess exams now?”

“It’s more than that.”

“Applejack, Shining just said they were just gonna show her how to use princess magic, how to form a magical shield, how to run the princess title her own way and how to handle royal guards, and they’re just exams, for Celestia sake! They’re not worth having you thinking it’s gonna go wrong and believe Flurry is gonna do a lot of mistakes and cause huge problems, even if they’re just accidents!”

“Open your eyes, Twilight! She was born as an alicorn, she had magic that she couldn’t control and destroyed the Crystal Heart! Why must you think everything’s gonna be fine, even before she becomes a princess or when she starts her next exams?!” Applejack turned to the white stallion, “Shining, come on! Tell Twi what I’m saying and what I’m trying to do here!”

Shining looked at Applejack before looking at his sister. He started to remember how he treated her back at the rehearsal night and how he didn’t take her seriously, which he didn’t want to make the mistake happen again. He then turned to his daughter, who was still crying at the corner, as he remember how he treated her when Lightning was having a lot of nightmares and when they were at the Tree of Life.

He couldn’t make more mistakes with his family, nor can he lose Flurry from being the next princess of the Crystal Empire.

He stared crossly at Applejack and said, “No, Applejack, Twily’s right.”

“She is?” Applejack asked in shock.

“I am?” Twilight asked in both shock and confusion.

Shining walked over to the farm pony while saying, “And I did say the exams wasn’t too hard or too serious. Just helping Flurry with those things Twilight just mentioned. Nothing more. And you’ve been treating that like it’s a big idea and will lead to her making more problems that we won’t be able to fix, even if she helped. In other words, what you’re doing is exactly what I did which nearly made Flurry decide not to be the next ruler of the Crystal Empire.”

“Technically, she was about to decide not to be the next ruler after the way you treated her at the Tree of Life,” said Applejack, but Shining wasn’t in the mood to hear her talk on.

“No, this is where you zip it, all right?! I’m talking! What if Flurry says she’s not gonna do the exams and refuse to be the next princess fully? Different story, because that’s on you. And if I made her refuse to be the next ruler, well…I think that one’s on me.”

Applejack looked at the stallion in shame and guilt after hearing that as Shining continued, “And what you’re doing is exactly what I did without knowing the consequences. I nearly lost my wife, sister and daughter, thanks to my mistakes. I refuse to make the same mistakes happen again. And I only had Kron upsetting Flurry, I don’t need anyone else upsetting her. And I suggest you stop thinking putting Flurry through exams now is a bad idea and let us help her become the princess her own way, with no problems that she makes but are made by our stupid actions.”

Shining looked at Twilight calmly and said, “Twily, you go check on Aladar. I’ll check on Flurry.”

Twilight was still surprised that her brother said she was right while looking at her brother. But she just shrugged while saying, “Okay.”

Twilight walked towards Aladar as Shining huffed while walking past Applejack. She then looked at the others who was looking crossly at her. And Izzy immediately zipped her lips, even throwing the ‘zipper’ away. She then walked towards Applejack, shook her head at her and said nothing more before joining the others.

“I’m trying to do the right thing!” Applejack called out. “…Am I?”

No one answered her, not even the lemurs or the old dinosaurs. She just stood in her place pondering over everything, the shame spreading along her face when no one was looking. As Shining sighed in frustration, he turned to Flurry, hoping he can make her feel better and help her see he wasn’t made at her.

“Flurry?”

Flurry heard her father’s voice and turned to look at him in fear while showing the tears in her eyes. Shining felt a sharp punch in her heart as he saw his daughter was upset and afraid, especially after the nightmare problem moons ago. But he wasn’t gonna make that mistake again, but even after what Flurry is going to say to him now.

“D-Daddy, I…I’m sorry for nearly getting us killed last night! I didn’t mean to let the rock loose after I sneezed! It just that some smoke got into my nose and…” Flurry was cut off by Shining gently placing a hoof on her mouth.

“Flurry, sweetheart, listen. You have nothing to apologise for. What happened last night wasn’t your fault. It was an accident.” Shining moved his hoof away from Flurry’s mouth, “Besides, it could have happened to any of us if we tried to stop that rock.”

“But, Applejack said that I caused the Carnotaurs to find us.”

“And she had no right to say that, especially in a way to say it was your fault, when it wasn’t. She did exactly what I did to you moons ago, and I still regret the way I treated you.”

“So I’m not the baby that destroyed the Crystal Heart and nearly doomed everypony in the Crystal Empire?” Shining’s heart stung again after hearing what her say what he said she was, but he refuses to see or hear his own daughter still think she’s not worthy of becoming the next princess. He was gonna fix this.

“No, you’re not,” said Shining while shaking his head, “Not because I say so, but because you never were. You’re the most beautiful child with a heart as strong as your mother’s. And I was so blinded and overprotective that I couldn’t see it, but now I can. And I want to continue having a daughter that’s beautiful, has a heart to care and tries her best to help others no matter what. You know why?”

Flurry shook her head in response.

“Because you are. And you always will be.”

Flurry slowly smiled at her father as tears of happiness rolled down her cheeks. After Shining gently flicked the tears away with his hoof before Flurry hugged him around his neck and resting her head on his chest. Shining smiled at his daughter, happy that he was able to make her happy again, as he hugged her back.

“Thanks, Dad.”

“Anytime, honey. Anytime.”

They broke the hug and smiled at each other for a few more seconds. Flurry suddenly remembered how Aladar was feeling after that rockslide and asked, “Is Aladar doing okay?”

Shining turned and looked at Aladar who was still laying down in grump and sadness with Twilight checking on him along with Bruton and Plio. He can tell he wasn’t doing okay after not being able to get them out of the cave.

“I don’t think he is, sweetie. After that rockslide and trying to get the rock pile to open, he’s feeling like he failed to get us out. But we better check and see if we can help him.”

Flurry nodded her head as they walked over to Aladar.

Aladar continued to lay on the ground as Twilight approached him and asked, “Aladar, you doing okay?”

Aladar didn’t look at Twilight, but he did answer back to her as he said, “After what happened? How can I? That was our only way out, and now it’s gone. It’s now a full dead end.”

Plio went to Aladar’s side and said, “Aladar, we’ll go back.”

“Back to what? It’s gone. We’re not meant to survive.”

Baylene was not happy by what Aladar just said, nor was she happy with Applejack’s behaviour towards Flurry Heart, as she said, “Oh, yes, we were. We’re here, aren’t we? And how dare you waste that good fortune by simply giving up?” She turned to Applejack, “And you, Applejack, yelling at a young child, like that, thinking she’s gonna cause more problems for us. Shame on both of you. Shame on you! Shame on you! The worst of it is, you didn’t let the poor dear help out just a little when she could have found a way out.” She looked back at Aladar, “And you allowed an old fool like me to believe I was needed that I still had a purpose, and do you know what? You were right. And I’m going to go on believing it. And I, for one, am not willing to die here.”

Baylene started growling as she stood up before roaring and pushing the pile to try and break open the entrance. Eema can sense Baylene was right and started charging at the pile to help break it. Baylene continued to push the pile as Url bleated and helped break the pile as well.

Aladar stood back up and backed up as he saw that the old dinosaurs weren’t gonna give up after all they went through and plan to break the pile no matter what. Baylene bellowed while continuing to destroy the pile.

Bruton charged at the pile while saying, “You heard her! Come on!” Bruton started pushing the pile to help destroy it.

The Equestrians looked at each other and gave each other a nod before deciding to help as they charged at the pile and started pushing, kicking and carefully using magic to help destroy the pile.

Shining smiled at Flurry while saying, “What do you say, Flurry? Wanna help get us all out of here, together?”

Flurry smiled at Shining and said, “Let’s do it!”

“Charge!” Shining shouted as the two charged towards the pile and help destroy it by carefully using magic.

Aladar can now see he was wrong and decided that now’s not the time to give up. So he growled and charged to push the pile to destroy it.

Baylene, with all her might, pushed the pile forwards and destroyed the pile, causing a huge light to appear as smoke flow everywhere.

“Oh, dear,” said Baylene.

“No. Not “oh dear”,” said Rarity, “More like, you’ve done it! We’re free!”

“And look!” Zipp said happily while pointing.

The dinosaurs, lemurs and Equestrians walked forwards into the light and, to their surprise, they have reached the one place they were heading with the herd.

It was the nesting grounds.

“The nesting grounds. It’s…it’s untouched,” said Eema happily.

“And so peaceful,” said Ocellus.

They all exited the cave and saw birds flying everywhere as well as a nice, warm and clean pool with trees everywhere. It was so beautiful as any dinosaur could imagine. It was like heaven.

“Our new home,” said Plio.

“And it comes with a pool!” Zini cheered as he leaped towards it with Suri giggling and following along. The young seven, Spike, Flurry and Sparky giggled happily before running towards the pool, too.

“Go long, Sparky! You owned it!” Hitch said happily as he watched the children run to the pool with Baylene and Url tagging along.

Baylene laughed as Zini leaped on top of her head and jumped towards the pool while shouting, “Cannonball! Whoo-hoo-ha-ha!” He landed into the pool with a splash.

“Ha. Amateur,” said Baylene.

Plio was climbing up a tree as Baylene was about to enter the pool. “Look out below!” Baylene said before entering the pool with a huge splash, causing a big wave with Zini chittering while surfing on a log.

The young seven, Spike, Flurry and Sparky all jumped into the pool, making a big splash one at a time, with Silverstream turning into a Seapony and began swimming underwater.

“Haha! We’re here! We’re here!” Sandbar cheered.

“Yeah!” Smolder splashed some water into her water, “Yeah, that’s better.”

Everyone was whooping happily while Url dropped his stick and watched while panting happily.

The other Equestrians, Yar, Plio, Aladar, Bruton and Eema watched while looking around the place as Aladar said, “Not bad. But I don’t get it. Where’s the herd?”

“Yeah, I thought they’ll be here before us,” said Misty.

“Not to mention Neera,” said Plio as Yar chuckled. Eema chuckled as well before saying, “They’ll get here…Mm. Soon enough.” Eema saw something and walked towards it. Aladar, Bruton and the Equestrians saw where Eema was going, as the children came back.

“Oh, no,” said Eema as she got closer to what seems to be a huge rock pile.

“Eema?” Aladar, Bruton and the Equestrians went over to Eema with Plio and Yar following them.

“I spoke too soon.”

“What is it?” Hitch asked.

That is the way we used to get in here,” said Eema.

“What? From that big rock pile?” Izzy asked.

“She’s right. That was where Kron was leading the herd to get here,” said Bruton.

Aladar looked at the pile in shock, and then saw that was a sheer drop. And it will stop the herd from reaching the nesting grounds, even Kron won’t be able to get over.

“They’ll never make it over that,” said Aladar.

“We’ve got to stop them,” said Sunny.

“We have to move fast!” Bruton said as he, along with Aladar and the Equestrians, ran back into the cave.

“Aladar, wait! Wait! Kron’ll eat you all alive,” warned Eema.

“Let him try,” said Aladar.

“Yeah. If he wants to get here, he’s gonna have to listen to him for once,” said Gallus as they all disappeared into the cave.

“Mm. I hope Kron’s in a listening mood,” said Eema as she looked back at the pile.

Kron and the herd were now on the other side of the nesting ground as Kron looked at the rock pile in anger with the herd waiting for further orders.

They were all vocalising while Neera and the two Iguanodons walked up to Kron. “Stay here,” she said to the babies before going up to Kron and looked at the pile. “We’ll find a way around it.”

But Kron had a different idea.

“In the morning, we’ll climb it.”

Aladar and Bruton worked together to break down the pile of rocks to reach the entrance they came in from yesterday. They all got through and ran to the outside of the cave.

“Follow me!” Bruton said as he led Aladar and the Equestrians to the right and towards the herd.

Nighttime came, as the two Iguanodons and the Equestrians were breathing heavily and running as fast as they could to reach the herd in time. They stopped as Aladar moved a naked branch to reveal a dead dinosaur lying on the ground.

“Oh, the poor sweet thing,” said Pipp sadly.

Suddenly, they heard loud footsteps coming towards them. And they recognise those footsteps.

It was that last surviving Carnotaur.

“Oh, no. One of them survived,” said Sandbar quietly.

“Quick. Behind here,” whispered Bruton as they hid behind a big rock.

The Carnotaur growled while searching for some food as it approached the dead dinosaur which was close to where the Iguanodons and Equestrians were hiding. It growled and hissed as it got close to them while Aladar and Bruton carefully peeked from their hiding spot.

Lightning whimpered as Fluttershy hugged him against her chest. “Shh shh shh shh shh...” Fluttershy said softly, as Lightning nodded in reply while snuggled against her fur.

The Carnotaur roared and began attacking the dead dinosaur to eat it, which gave the dinosaurs and the Equestrians the perfect chance to escape and continue running towards the herd.

“Hurry!” Bruton said quietly as they followed him.

The Carnotaur swallowed its meal before growling and sensing more dinosaurs were close by. It decided to follow them, knowing that there’s more food out there for it.
