The story takes place at the same time as Loyal Ace, but it does not require you to read it. The focus is on an entirely different character.

The changeling race is prospering under Queen Chrysalis. With her children spread throughout the stars, most of the outposts are ruled by royal changelings. One of them is Storm Shadow, her most successful and loyal prince, named after his reckless fighting style and brilliance in infiltration. The only thing he is missing is a pony who could love him and his admittedly not-pony-like tendencies.
Will he find that love in this hostile environment that is space, or will he be forever alone?

While the story is not set in an alternate universe, but 2000 years after the show, I chose to ignore the reformation of the changelings. They are still their lovable black shape, and Chrysalis is still their Queen.
