To redeem through motherly love
"It's not a phase mom! This is who I am!"
Thorax sat in his chamber, grumbling to himself on how greatly it had changed since he ran away.....
No longer were the walls ever changing, icky gloom caverns with cocoons containing their drained victims, instead it was a light, green mud pile of the vile stench of nature poisoning the hive with its filth.....
Ever since that former crystal tyrant King Sombra stormed into his home with the lowly old Centaur, and some unicorn with a sun cutie mark like the sun princess, and his treacherous brother Pharynx, he had brainwashed all of his siblings, and even his own MOTHER, into sharing love instead of taking it for themselves......
It was a fools pipe dream, love could not be generated from nothing..... The hive would eventually starve, and they would all die......
But not him..... He was wiser..... He would not let the filthy stench of friendship get to him......
However, before he could plot how he would eventually restore the hive back to its former glory, he was interrupted by a knock on his door.....
"Go away! I do not want company from filthy traitors!" Thorax hissed, greatly upset from how his siblings could be so clueless on how they need to feed and survive.....
"But Thorax, I only wish to help you. Please let me in......" Answered a familiar voice.
The door gently opened, and Thorax could only wince in disgust of the voice he had recognized, but the face and tone had all but changed into something unrecognizable.......
"MOTHER." He merely acknowledged, as he turned to face away her direction.
She was nothing like how he remembered her.....
What once was a proud and feared ruler of the changeling hive, was now a soft and cuddly bug who had a soft spot for PONIES......
He preferred her better when she attacked ponies, and drained them of their love until they were nothing but lifeless husks.......
They were THIS close to taking Canterlot for themselves, the grooms love made her unstoppable.
Even after their banishment and defeat by the bride and groom's love energy being used against them, Chrysalis was always someling Thorax looked up to, and wished to ascend to be a mighty and powerful ruler like her one day......
Now she was just a gentle, caring insect with no pride or tough love......
"Thorax, I came here to help you."
"Help me WHAT?! To change into something WEAK and HELPLESS like you and the rest of my siblings?! I don't want your pity, this is who I'm destined to be!"
"But Thorax, I know that deep down, you still care about your family, I know that you believe you can still change into something better."
"HOW could you fall for these ponies tactics to control us?! We were once a proud, feared face! The ponies should fear us! Not cuddle with us!"
"Thorax, I understand how proud you are of our culture, and how upsetting it is to have things change like this. But I was wrong, its much more powerful to share love then to take it. Your brother knew that from the start."
"Pharynx was always a softie and a push over! Of COURSE he was the first to fall victim to pony fever!"
Thorax had always despised Pharynx's softness and weakness, and tried to push him to be tough and strong, like him.
It wasn't until he ran away after the attack on Canterlot that he realized he would never be a warrior like him or the rest of their siblings, and that it was best to just forget about it and let him go......
"Thorax, don't you want the hive to live on and thrive, don't you want us to make it through generations? If we kept doing what we've been doing for so long, it would eventually lead us to extinction....."
"You don't know that, the ponies-"
"Have nothing to do with it...... Thorax, I was wrong..... I simply followed the way the changelings have done things for the last millennia, because it was the cowardly thing to do. I didn't choose the better path. But you don't have to make the same mistake I did.... You can grow to be a leader your siblings deserve......"
"I-...... I......"
"Thorax, you know I always loved you, and I always will.... Don't you reciprocate that love?....."
"You only love me like you do the rest of my siblings, I am not special....."
"Well you're special to me, in your own way. And you will always matter to me, even if you can't see it."
Thorax kneeled his head in ponderation, deep down, he truly did want the best for his family, his siblings, and his mother..... But did he truly want everything to change to go through with that?.....
"If you learn to share love, with me, with your siblings, you will never have to experience the pain of going hungry again. Because you will always be satisfied. It is the better solution."
"How can you be so sure?....."
"Just look around. Sharing love with ourselves has let us thrive for months Thorax, do you really want to take away this gift we have received?....."
"But it has made us weak! The changelings are supposed to be powerful, strong creatures! Sharing love has been holding us back!"
"No, it has made us stronger. The more love we share, the less likely we will run out of food."

Thorax thought about his mother's words carefully.......
"Thorax, I know you are proud of our militaristic ways, but its not going to get us far if we continue to take love from others. If you really care about us, you will let go of the past..... And express your love freely....."
Thorax turned away shyly......
"Please..... I missed you, I love you so much......"
Chrysalis grasped Thorax in a tight hug..... As he shed a tear of sadness.........
Eventually, he felt the love he had stored begun to slip away from his being, as he was slowly enwrapped in a glowing cocoon.....
It begun to burst open, and Thorax stared at his mother, as he gazed at his new green, holeless hooves....
"I-......... I.........."
As Thorax took in his new body, he hugged his mother warmly, which she openly reciprocated........
"I don't feel hungry......."
