This story can be like any other, and although they all appear or claim to be different, it doesn’t change the fact that everything in the universe follows a pattern...

But sometimes that pattern fails, and there’s a moment when that point of reference is no longer enough to cover something as vast as the multiverse. That’s why, in some realities, the story tends to be told from another perspective, or even recounted in a way you don’t remember. This story is one of those.

Here, you’ll see how a small change can lead to a decision, whose intention may result in something completely different from what you remember as something repetitive and often overlooked.

This is a story of two sisters and a kingdom. Each is responsible for moving the celestial bodies that create day and night, the sun and the moon. They are opposite faces that coexist in perfect harmony to bring forth days and nights in the calendar, maintaining an essential balance for nature.

These two sisters are alicorns, as you might imagine. The elder one has white fur, violet eyes, a pink mane, and a divine appearance. On the other hand, the younger one, with midnight blue fur and a more luminous mane, is more closely associated with the occult. Yet despite their differences, they are determined to take on the responsibility of ruling the new pony kingdom.

At first, their rule wasn’t easy. They faced events that were out of their control and the consequences of previous wars, where chaos reigned. However, both sisters, with the help of the wise mage Star Swirl the Bearded, learned to govern and provide their subjects with the peace they so desperately needed.

The ponies, divided by their differences, began to unite. Earth ponies worked the fields, pegasi controlled the weather, and unicorns managed magic. Together, they built a stable society, with the royal sisters as symbols of unity and hope.

Over time, the elder sister gained the admiration of all ponies. Her radiant sunlit days brought joy and energy, and they praised her for the light and warmth she provided. Songs, festivals, and poems were dedicated to her glory, and she basked in the adoration of her subjects.

But the younger sister... her nights were a different story. Though the stars danced in intricate constellations and the moon shone bright, her artistry went unnoticed. Ponies slept through her nights, unaware of the effort and beauty she poured into them.

The younger sister felt ignored, unappreciated, and invisible. Slowly but surely, resentment began to grow in her heart. Why couldn’t they see the wonders of the night? Why was her role so undervalued?

She tried to voice her concerns, but her elder sister dismissed them, reassuring her that the ponies loved her just as much. But the younger one could see the truth: their love was not for her but for the elder sister alone.

This resentment grew into jealousy, and that jealousy festered until it became a dark force within her.

Worried about her younger sister's attitude, Celestia decided to consult her mentor in order to find a solution that would help her change the situation...

Or rather, it would help change history…

Star Swirl was working in his office developing a new spell that had caused him many problems with his assistants, as this spell made ponies lose their identity, their cutie marks were exchanged and their memories were clouded, making the individual's mind believe that their destiny was that cutie mark in which it was placed.

The nicknamed "the bearded one" did everything possible to solve it, but no matter how hard he tried, he could not solve it, this led him to unbridled stress that would lead him to move away from civilization, opting for the idea of making a trip that would help him understand the nature of his spell, but before leaving, Celestia the eldest alicorn, named by her people as "the goddess of the sun", interrupted his path on the outskirts of the everfree in order to find in it a solution to the problem she had with her younger sister.

—Talk to her —he said—, try to understand her without going straight to the point, these situations are not to be taken lightly Celestia, try with a casual chat.

—Master, but how do you want me to do it? —answered the older sister desperately. —I've tried all kinds of talks, but it's not working.

—Hmmm —thought the bearded unicorn—. Have you already tried to talk to what she really wants?

Celestia put her paw to her chin thinking about that question. —I don't think so —she answered doubtfully—. Do you think it will work?

—She's your sister, Celestia. You must know why she behaves the way she does, she thinks. With those words, Star Swirl tightens his straps and pushes his carriage to wherever the road takes him, all in full view of Celestia, who looks on thoughtfully with the question of what to do in her head…

===========================

It was nighttime, and as the moon rose in the east, Celestia looked worriedly at the tower where she believed her sister had been for the last six months, thinking…

“Come on Celestia, you can do it.” She told herself as she began to walk through the halls. “She is your sister, you should know why she behaves the way she does.”

The young princess spoke for herself, as if it were her and the world, but the fact is that she showed signs of panic or high concern every time she imagined a possible future in which everything went wrong, she could not avoid making sudden movements or casting some random spell that worried her guards, who nervously watched the possibility that their princess would lose her sanity or that the spells she cast would fall on them by mistake, therefore they did not avoid showing nervousness when seeing their princess in that state, but nevertheless it was something that Celestia had to worry about in the least, who with each passing second felt that she was moving away from her beloved younger sister.

*Tremble*

“Did you feel that?” the pegasus asked his companion.

“A tremor.” The other guard answered.

Before anyone could say anything, Celestia looked at her sister’s tower with some concern. “Luna,” she said. “No… I have to do something,” she said with determination. “I can’t do anything if I stay here, I have to face her.”

Determined, the princess took flight towards the tower, knowing that it was useless to make Luna open the door. At least it was better than waiting for some answer.

Celestia approached the window stealthily against the wall to take a look inside, which happened to have the curtains open, surely Luna opened them to see her night, it was most likely, but when she peeked her head out Celestia did not see her in sight.

“Where is it?” she asked as she peeked further out. All she saw was disorder, the night desk had been crushed and scattered all over the room, dozens of papers invaded the floor and when she looked for her sister she only saw torn curtains scattered everywhere, it was a mess.

“Ignorant!! I do everything possible for them to enjoy my nights and they, all they do is sleep!” Screams were heard.

“Luna?” Celestia asked in astonishment, lowering her head, noticing that the window lock was loose.

“Why do I make stars?! Why create constellations?! If they are just sleeping after a day in which nothing exciting happened, why?!”. Rumbling could be heard coming from the room, this was serious, and if Celestia wanted to fix things she would have to watch her words, so before swallowing deeply she checked if the window opened without having to make the slightest noise or creak, because she did not want to be thrown out just for showing herself in front of her sister.

“What are you doing in my window?” the princess of the night asked angrily.

“Umm… I just want to talk.” Celestia answered quite nervously, as she did not expect Luna to open the window so suddenly.

“Get out of there,” Luna said in a Canterlot voice. Celestia's response was to teleport to the room.

Luna's room was a mess, now that Celestia was inside she could see that the bed she slept on was nothing more than wooden planks, the mattress was riddled with holes and leaning against the wall and its stuffing was scattered on the floor. The wardrobe, which was now a pile of wood, was on top of the dresses her sister had worn in the first galas of the gallop, some pieces of fabric were scattered on the walls, but the most impressive thing was that the walls had cracks around some footprints that were suspected to be hooves of a very angry blue alicorn...

Celestia observed with surprise every detail of the room, until she was interrupted when her field of vision met the expressionless and cold gaze of her sister.

“I told you to go out, I want to be alone.” Luna scolded her approaching Celestia, however she did not back away (only her head).

“Sister, calm down, we can fix it.” Celestia tried but Luna interrupted her.

—Yes, I'm talking to the perfect pony that everyone tells their problems to, oh, let's see if she can solve it with a letter. —Luna mocked, making unpleasant gestures that annoyed Celestia, but she would let it go.

—Luna, at least try, I want to help you...

—Enough Celestia, that passive attitude won't help you at all, I know. —she interrupted again, more irritated. —You just pretend and then you get upset because another pony comes to tell you her problem, I don't want to bother you Miss Perfect. —she said in a hostile tone.

—Luna. —said Celestia but Luna used her magic to throw her out the window, causing Celestia to hit herself when trying to grab the edges.

—I don't want to listen to you —said Luna.

“Well, whether you like it or not, I will force you to listen to me.” She answered somewhat angrily, using her magic to free herself from Luna's magical grip. “If you don't tell me what affects you so much, I will have to force you, Luna.” She would say as she entered through the window again with a firm step.

“Try it.” The younger princess answered angrily.

“What do you want that with, huh?”

“I dare you.” Luna answered, defiantly while staring at her sister.

Meanwhile, the guards watching the throne continued to remain still in the same place until their replacements arrived, when a second tremor was felt, but this one was stronger, revealing several pieces of debris that fell to the ground, leaving behind a curtain of smoke that worried the guards.

“Do you think the princesses are fighting?” She would say somewhat fearfully.

“I hope not. The castle is the only thing that defends us from the forest, and I don't want to have to face the timber wolves.” He answers somewhat nervously.

After a third tremor, the walls shook slightly.

“Can you imagine what a goddess would be like having sex?”

“What do you mean?” the partner would say, surprised.

“I don’t know… I’ve only heard that a mortal cannot have sex with a goddess.” A cicada is heard in the corner and the two guards cannot help but feel somewhat uncomfortable about the matter.

“I shouldn’t have mentioned it, right?”

“You’re weird.”

“Hey, but the doubt will always be there, right?”

“You know what, it’s better not to talk because you’ll make me think about things I don’t want to imagine.” he would say, irritated and annoyed.

… Silence…

“Pervert.” the guard would say.

“You started the subject.” he answers, indignant.

“I said that a goddess, I don’t know, there must be something about them so that they don’t feel satisfied with a mortal, so they prefer someone more gifted or who can last a round.” He would explain something annoying.

Instead, a not at all holy image of the two sisters was revealed in his partner's mind… leaving his partner aside, who made a surprised face imagining what his partner was trying to decipher.

“Did you really think…”

“Shut your mouth!”.

Broomm!!

One of the walls would fall down after a princess Celestia crashed in the middle of the room, alarming the guards, who ran to her aid but an aura of magic would cover them preventing their intentions.

“What the heck!” One of the guards would say.

“Luna, that's enough!” Celestia screams with some bruises on her body, getting up with some pain.

“Princess?” The guards would say, surprised, but a familiar voice interrupts them.

“Why do you care so much about her?” She screams angrily. “Is she the only one who rules them?” The princess of the night would say annoyed, beginning to squeeze their armor on their bodies.

“Stop, Luna!” Celestia screams but seeing that she does not respond, she chooses to teleport directly towards her, abruptly investing her, sending her to crash into one of the thrones.

“Sister, please stop. Please don't continue, please don't continue.” She said fearfully.

It took Luna a second to compose herself, but when she saw the front of her, her gaze sharpened when she noticed Celestia, who, frightened, tried to back away for fear that things would get out of control.

“Princess.” One of the guards warned, in pain.

“Where do you think you're going?” Luna threatened. “We have a problem to solve.”

“I understand Luna, but not like this. We can fix this another way.”

“And what do you want?!” Luna said in her Canterlot voice, unable to control herself.

“First try to calm down, okay? I just want to hear you, just let out everything you have.” Celestia tried to figure out. “Is it the ponies? The throne?... Your position?”

And without further ado, with all the frustration on her shoulders, Luna would hit the ground hard with her hooves, cracking it while some tears tried to be compressed. She spoke.

“It's all of them, sister! It's all the ponies, my title as princess, everything is wrong!”.

Celestia swallowed deeply at that statement, but said nothing, letting Luna vent.

“Every time I leave the castle! Every time I appear before the people, no appointment, no mention from the nobles! Always and every time there is some important event, I am the princess that no one pays attention to!”. She said at the top of her lungs.

“But, I don't understand, are they your, your nights?”. Celestia asked.

Luna only neighed at her sister's answer, trying to calm down but she had already made or was about to make her decision.

“You don't understand, sister.” She said in a sigh. “It's obvious.” She commented in a low tone, but Celestia heard her.

“But I can understand!” The white princess said quickly. “If no one values you, then I will help you make the ponies see that value. Luna. Let's think together about how to make your nights important, even if the ponies need to sleep. We can make your nights influence the lives of the ponies in some way.”

“And how do you intend to do that?!” Luna shouted.

For a few seconds, Celestia couldn't answer, the answer wasn't simple and if she made a mistake in her words, Luna could do something crazy knowing that between the two of them, she was the one who could lose her temper, so what she was going to say next was decisive.

Luna was beginning to despair, she didn't believe there was any way out of her frustration, but she still wanted to have hope and if her sister gave it to her, at least she would try to fix things. But her sister's answer didn't come, or it was just delayed...

“I know a way, Luna.” Celestia commented very determined.

Luna opened her eyes quite surprised. “How?” She said confused by the surprise.

“One of the last spells that Star swirl taught me, was about making plants grow, but she mentioned something that might interest you.” She explained.

Luna thought for a moment and then spoke. “And what did she tell you?”

Celestia didn’t hesitate to smile at her answer. “That this spell relies more on the moon to take effect.”

“Really?” She said doubtfully.

“Yes.” Celestia continued. “It turns out that your moon can influence the growth of plants. If we study this spell further, we can make farmers all over Equestria take your nights into account. Not only will they be able to see the stars, but they will also be able to improve their crops as long as they are aware of the effects that the nights have on them. Please, we can improve your nights if you just listen to me, okay?” She said pleadingly.

The younger sister thought for a moment about her older sister’s proposal. She really wanted to hear that she had no idea what she was going to do, but… there was hope, that idea wasn’t so far-fetched after all.

And this is how a decision can influence the natural course of things, but the pattern tries to influence the universe, all things try to get on track, just as matter seeks stability to coexist in molecules, the universe tries to find an opposite to stabilize the bomb.

Because of Luna's decision not to reveal herself to her sister, the lunar phases were born. Tidal floods became more and more controlled, certain types of animals learned to synchronize for their reproductive stage, earth ponies learned to plant their crops in strategic seasons while pegasi created the rain cycles.

Everything was going to lead the kingdom to enter a period of peace and wealth... but fate only changed, because a sacrifice is offered to gain a benefit, but what you lose sometimes affects you.
