Under the stars

The perfect place for this night

The two ponies walked silently in the sacred peace of the night, their hoofsteps unintentionally being off in sync as they each looked around and kept their ears open for any sign of there being any chance of other ponies out here as well to discover their secret.
They knew that, of course, they had nothing to fear about not being accepted by their friends and families and the entire realm in general, as the other ponies known by the names of Lyra Heartstrings and Bon Bon were openly in a romantic relationship and had been for over a year before Twilight Sparkle had even come to Ponyville.

So no, it wasn’t that they felt that they needed to keep this bond between them a secret or else face mockery and abuse. They just preferred to keep it that way, for whatever reason they chose. Twilight Sparkle was overall a relatively private pony when it came to certain aspects of her life and her own personal interests, and Rainbow Dash was more then OK with keeping their new connection hidden from everypony, including their closest friends.
Something about “hiding like this in plain sight is gonna be about 20,000% cooler than being all open about it, right!?! Whoohoo!”

They passed under the trees and Twilight had a little personal game about trying to count how many hoots she heard from the local owls. She was at approximately 63.264 when she saw a nice big clearing where she felt that it would be the best place to sit down for now… and maybe even all night, if she was lucky!
“Hey Rainbow, this looks like a good spot to look at Luna’s sky. What do you think?”
Rainbow looked down at the soft field of grass and the surrounding area which was clear of anymore trees, and shrugged with a smile.
“Yeah sure, as good as any I guess.”

They both trotted to the spot and sat down now, the grass being soft and comfortable and the stars shining brightly overhead. Rainbow got there first and proceeded to pad the grass down in a specifically designed circle, and her Unicorn marefriend giggled when she saw that it was big enough for them both to snuggle and spoon together in it if they so wished.

You know me so well, Rainbow Dash. I love you all the more for it…

Dash then sat down and looked at Twilight with a grin and tapped the ground in front of her with one hoof.
“Well cmon Twi, this area right here isn’t gonna get any warmer without your flank coverin’ it!”
Twilight laughed and entered the little circle to sit down, smiling happily as she exhaled softly through her nostrils, alternating between looking up at the multitude of stars high above her and that the rainbow-mane Pegasus in front of her.

“Oh Rainbow,” she sighed, “It’s so beautiful out like this. I’m so glad that you brought me out here that one time and showed me just how utterly lovely it can be out here rather than merely peering at it from my house with a telescope. I’m so grateful for that, and for you being out here with me right now.”

“Twi-Twilight?” Rainbow suddenly said after taking a deep breath. She looked like she was about to say something special and very unusual, judging by how she looked off to the side and bit her lip slightly.

“Yeah, Rainbow?”

“All these stars are out tonight like this… but you’re more bright and beautiful than any of them!”
Rainbow forced it out as she blushed and cringed slightly at the admittedly cheesy flirt. Twilight for her part merely giggled and smiled at her. She knew how hard it could be for poor Dashie to get all mushy like that, and never felt embarrassed or unhappy with it, truly appreciating it instead.

“Oh Rainbow Dash, please don’t feel embarrassed or anything like that. That was really cute and nice to say to me, and thank you.”

With that, Twilight leaned forward and placed her lips snugly over those of her beloved, who quickly returned it with far greater ease and comfort than she had just been showing. Several kisses were exchanged for a little over a minute or so, before the lavender Unicorn pulled back for a moment. But she then scooted closer and sat directly in front of the Pegasus, with her right foreleg coming up to rest gently on Rainbow’s shoulder. The Pegasus smirked and put her left hoof over the lavender one on her shoulder while licking her own lips in clear anticipation for what was about to come next. The Unicorn giggled again and did the same.

“Not gonna lie, Twi. Talking to you IS great, and I DO like your voice. But…” she looked down for a moment with another embarrassed smile.
“But?” Twilight asked with a knowing smirk at her sweetheart. She knew full-well what Dash was gonna say, and she honestly felt the exact same way.

Rainbow Dash maintained the eye contact for a few good seconds, then she nuzzled Twilight briefly as they both leaned their foreheads together.
“But feeling your lips on mine is much better… on average.” She finished with a slight blush.
Her other hoof now came up and placed itself on Twilight’s own shoulder in a similar gesture, but it was curled slightly and more akin to her holding Twilight steadily rather than simply touching her. And then it traveled slowly up Twilight’s neck and went to the back of her head, keeping a gentle hold there, her own intentions and desires more clear by the second as her beautiful eyes both were almost completely closed by now.
Both pony’s breaths were easily mingling with each other’s by now, and somehow they could feel the other’s heartbeat echoing with their own.

Twilight could feel the heat flowing through her body and yet could also feel a familiar coldness that was desperately pushing her to seek out the warmth it wanted as well. And the way it had appeared in the first place and why, the young mare knew that this special comforting warmth could only be delivered one way.

“I am glad to have you in my life, Rainbow Dash.”

She found it increasingly hard to speak now, her own heartbeat increasingly faster and stronger and she pretty much felt a magnetic pull that Rainbow’s lips seemed to have on her own now very cold and aching ones, strongly urging her to just lean forward a little and receive the warmth and comfort she so desperately needed. She whimpered unintentionally, and felt Dash’s breath hitch for a second before starting to get heavier now.

“And my only regret is…”
The tips of their muzzles were touching, Twilight’s lips softly brushing against Rainbow’s with every whispered word she spoke.
“Not coming to Ponyville earlier… and meeting you sooner.”

And now Rainbow couldn’t take it anymore and pushed forward, kissing her hard and urgently, a moan catching in her throat as she quickly tilted her head to one side and parted Twilight’s lips with her own, kissing her deeper.
The Unicorn was more or less overwhelmed by Rainbow’s passion, actually finding it difficult to match. But she didn’t care about taking the lead or anything like that right now. She was already starting to feel the joyous feelings of comfort and happiness that she had wanted to feel being given in full force, and she wanted more!

Rainbow Dash placed another foreleg around Twilight, this time around her barrel, and pulled her closer as they both intensified the kiss. Twilight brought a hoof up to Rainbow’s beautiful mane and slid through it and down her neck, trying to feel as much of the other mare as possible.
This seemed to give Dash an idea as she proceeded to grab up a hoof-full of Twilight’s mane and pulled down. She got the result she wanted as the Unicorn let out an open-mouthed moan and her head went up and back, her vulnerable throat now directly in front of the Pegasus face.
As soon as this happened, her purple eyes nearly rolled back into her head as she felt the bold dominant Pegasus start kissing her sensitive throat and neck overall, especially one exceptionally sensitive vein which nearly made poor Twilight come undone right there!

“Oh my Celestia…”
She muttered breathlessly as the sensations only grew stronger and Rainbow even started to kiss down to her chest briefly, but then unexpectedly pulled back.
Twilight couldn’t help but let out an uncontrolled whine of protest as Dash had stopped giving her those wonderful feelings and also let go of her mane, and when she lowered her head she saw the grinning face of the Pegasus. Twilight narrowed her eyes dangerously.

“Sorry Twily, I won’t do it again, ok? But I just had to see and hear how you react t-mrrm.”
Twilight didn’t let her cocky marefriend finish gloating, instead surging forward fast and lip-locking her hard. Rainbow Dash didn’t miss a beat and got back into the rhythm, and both could feel each other smile at the corners of their mouths.

Despite being soaring high above the world without a care in the Cosmos on cloud nine, Twilight could still vaguely feel the moment when they both had somehow gotten to their hooves and Dash now started to walk her backwards, their lips still locked together as she did so. Her legs wound up failing her by this point and her back was now on the cool grass, Dash climbing on and straddling her, firmly and gently holding her face in those cyan hooves as they continued to explore each other’s mouths without a sign of stopping anytime soon.

Overhead, Luna’s beautiful moon and diamond-studded night sky cast it’s illuminating gaze upon the sleeping world, and beneath its glow as they were now here under an old oak tree, Twilight decided to not try to gain the upper hoof at all anymore and she lay there silently and happily as Rainbow Dash worked her magic.

Quite a few hours and a totally wondrous night later…

The glorious light of Celestia’s Sun covered the whole of Equestria with its warming golden rays, shining in thin beams of welcome color between the branches and twigs, shining down on the clear grass which was wet with morning dew… and landing upon a pair of sleeping mares that were lying together in a small patch of clear ground beneath the trees.
Surprisingly, despite who had taken the lead in the previous night, it was the lavender Unicorn now lay atop the cyan Pegasus and was spooning her in this position, each wearing a smile of the greatest contentment on their calm faces. Their hearts were harmoniously aligned with each other’s, beating as one as they each breathed in and out softly.

Sure, they would awaken soon and would need to be off to their homes and be reunited with their other dear companions soon enough. There would need to be work done and checklists created and letters written and schedules to be followed, and all of that would come in good time.
But for now, we will leave them sleeping here in this little place in peace.
