Chapter 1: New Beginnings

Chapter 1: New Beginnings
It's a lovely day in the magical land of Equestria, ponies are singing, dancing, having nine-to-fives, the usual really, and here comes Twilight's errand boy, Spike the Dragon himself, zooming past fellow ponies without a care in the world since he's got to deliver a special scroll to Celestia! He accidentally sets a cart on fire because he decided to have some peppers this morning, he puts it out but the damage is done
"Oops! Sorry sir!"
Spike said to the middle-aged pony who owned the stand, he looked very angry, as anyone usually would
"Well, kid! You better have the bits for me to be able to build all of this again! Putting out the fire ain't gonna cut it!"
He said, holding his hoof out, expecting the dragon to give him some bits
"O-Oh! Of course sir! Uhm..."
Spike said, opening the tiny pouch to his side to check if he had any bits on him, which he didn't
"I-I'm sorry sir! I don't have the bits on me!"
He said as the pony growls
"Well! You better get some bits before I decide to feed you to a timber wolf! Now scram!"
He yelled as Spike just nodded, not wanting to say anything that could make this situation so much worse as he flew towards Celestia's castle, the place is beautiful! As clean and sparkly as always, with multiple guards everywhere, obviously, Spike heads to the gate and bangs on it
"I'm here to see Princess Celestia! I have an important message from Princess Twilight that I need to deliver! My name is Spike the Dragon!"
He said as within a few moments guards came up and opened the gates for him
"You may come in"
Spike nodded and walked right into the castle, it took him a couple of minutes to reach the throne room, but when he did he saw Princess Celestia and Princess Luna themselves, sitting on their thrones, and he bowed
"Your royalties, I've come with an important message from Princess Twilight, it's about the ball"
Spike said as the two princesses stared at each other then nodded as Princess Luna stepped forward
"Let us see it, dear Spike, we shall take a look to see her questions"
Spike nods and hands the scroll to the two princesses and they start reading it, both of their eyes widen as they both nod to each other and then give the scroll to one of their guards as Celestia speaks up
"Thank you, Spike, this scroll was very helpful, we can see what we can do for Twilight's concern"
She said, as Luna and she put their hooves out, gesturing for Spike to leave, the meeting is done for now
"Thank you! Your majesties"
He said, exiting the room and soon leaving the castle, hours pass and his stomach starts rumbling
"Oh man, haven't eaten anything all day..."
He said, looking around and finding a nice restaurant to order from, he doesn't have any money, but there is an apple cart next to the restaurant that's giving out apples, for FREE!
"Ooh! A nice snack for the road!"
He said as he ran over to the cart but the pony running it looked a bit suspicious, he eventually looked down at Spike and chuckled
"Let me guess, you are wanting an apple, little fella?..."
"You betcha!"
The pony chuckles and hands him a nice, ripe apple for completely FREE! This is odd since no pony has a cart that sells stuff for free, especially food, but Spike is so hungry he decides to shrug it off he starts eating the apple and continues walking down the street, he doesn't notice that the pony is following him and was carrying a wooden bat, he ends up in an alleyway where the pony hits him in the back of the head and starts looking through Spike's pouch
"Come on...you have to have something good in here!"
He said as Spike slowly got up the pony was too busy searching his pouch to notice as Spike grabbed a bottle of apple cider someone left out and smacked the pony in the back of the head with it, knocking them out, and it turned out, some pony witnessed the whole thing, it was a pony with the skin color similar to Cheese, the pony Weird Al played, and he has curly hair and blue eyes and is wearing a blue dress shirt and he rings a bell which is our equivalent to calling the police, minutes pass and guards arrive and dragged the thug towards a wagon they put criminals in and one head over to Spike
"Hey, nice job Spike, that poky has been doing the stuff he just tried on you to other ponies for years! We could never catch him"
He said as Spike looked up
"Oh uhm...thank you..."
He said as the guard chuckled
"No problem! Hey! You should become a hero! A superhero! Just imagine all the good you could do!"
He said as Spike thought about it for a moment
"Hey, I might just try that out! Anyways...I need to head back home!"
He said, getting up as the guard chuckles
"Alright, see you around Spike!"
The guard said as they all got into the wagon to take that pony to Celestia's dungeon where he belongs Spike continued down the street and passed a comic book store where they have The Power Ponies on display and Spike's eyes widened and he looked mesmerized
"Woah..."
He said as he saw the meaningless sidekick outfit, Hum Drum
"Hey...I got an idea..."
He said as he looked across the street and saw a closed costume store; he grabbed a stone and broke the tiny window at the top next to the backdoor of the store; he entered through the window and started looking around until he found what he needed, a Hum Drum costume!
"Perfect!"
He said as the alarm went off and he ran off with the costume until he entered Twilight's library, he slowly closed the door behind him grabbed a wood-cutting kit from a box of random stuff he had, and started building his secret entrance to his own Batcave, hours pass and it's almost morning but he got it done, and he places the wood he cut off back into its original spot, now all he needs to do is pull down a book, he picked one Twilight would never read again, and that wood would open up to reveal a tiny area made for Spike, it was actually quite nice and cute, it held his outfit, a tiny chair, a board that he can pin some photo's on like a detective, it's nice, once the wood is back on, he heads up towards his bed that's next to Twilight's and curls up into a ball, ready for the morning to come.
We May Need Some New Toys
Finally! Spike has defeated his first villain! And, there's a party happening in Canterlot hosted by the McDangle, a family of rich ponies
"I'm so excited Spike!"
Twilight said, looking excited
"I know Twilight, you haven't stopped talking about it..."
Spike said with a chuckle
"Let's just get ready, okay Twilight? The party starts in two hours!"
Twilight laughed
"Alright Spike"
Twilight said as she and Spike got ready, Spike was wearing a red bowtie and black tuxedo, he also packed his superhero suit in a small briefcase just in case and Twilight put her hair in a bow
"Alright! We ready Spike?"
"Yep! Let's go!"
Twilight nods and hours pass and they arrive at a HUGE mansion in Canterlot, two royal guards are at the doors
"Names?"
"Twilight Sparkle!"
"Spike the Dragon!"
"Alright...head on in"
The guards said, opening the two big doors for them and they stepped inside, there were ponies everywhere, talking, drinking wine, the fancy party type of stuff as two ponies came up to Twilight and Spike, one was female, one was male
"Hello!"
The male one said, with a soft, fancy-sounding British voice
"Welcome to the party! I'm Martha McDangle! This is my husband! Thomas McDangle!"
The female one said as they shook Twilight's hooves and Spike's claws
"It's nice to meet you!"
Twilight said with a soft smile
"It's nice meeting you two!"
Spike said with a nice, soft smile as a pony came down, dark brown skin with red eyes and he was wearing a full purple suit
"Ah! That's our son! Jeremy McDangle! Come say hello to Twilight Sparkle and her dragon friend!"
Thomas said as Jeremy walked over and waved to them
"H-Hello..."
"Hello!"
Twilight said, shaking his hoof and so did Spike
"It's very nice to meet you! What do you do for a living?"
Twilight said, kind of curious about what these ponies do to afford a huge place like this
"O-Oh...I don't really do anything...I chop the wood outside for the fireplace...my parents do all the work in terms of bills and the money..."
Jeremy said as Thomas rolled his eyes
"He barely does anything around the house"
Thomas said as Martha nudged him and gave him a mean look, seems Jeremy's family doesn't treat him well
"Oh..."
Twilight said as things got a bit awkward but Martha had Jeremy go back to chopping wood and she started a new conversation
"S-So! We've heard about that mysterious dragon hero! What was his name again?..."
"Blazwing!"
Spike said, chuckling softly
"That's what I've been hearing from other ponies!"
"I see! That's a very good name!"
Martha said as there was a scream in the distance every pony rushed towards the scream the butler of the mansion had been brutally murdered, a hatchet right in the skull
"Oh my!"
Martha said, passing out immediately as Spike runs off
"Oh no! Time to put the suit on!"
Spike said, putting his suit on
"Okay...I'm gonna need to get to a high vantage point...how though...I could climb the walls...but not these ones, these walls are WAY too tall for me..."
Spike said, looking around, seeing some sharp metal shards on the ground, a rope that was detached from a well, and some wooden scraps. Spike smirked and got to work, assembling all of it, making his first gadget of many! A grappling hook!
"Perfect!"
Spike said, pulling the trigger and he was sent zooming toward a nice gargoyle on the edge of the mansion roof and some ponies saw him in the darkness
"It's Blazewing!"
One pony said, pointing towards the gargoyle and Spike grappled another gargoyle, looking at the mansion windows that he could be able to see through and saw Jeremy holding a hatchet, his suit had some blood spots on it and some blood was on his face as he's ready to murder his own father, raising the hatchet but before he can Spike slams through the window
"Stop right there! Axer!"
"What type of name is that?!"
Jeremy said, looking a bit disappointed, Spike could've picked a better nickname to call Jeremy...
"Hey, man...I'm trying here, still kind of new to this hero thing..."
"Well...let's see if you're good at dodging!"
Jeremy said, throwing a pretty sharp hatchet right at Spike he dodged it rather quickly and charged at Jeremy as Thomas ran away
"No!"
Jeremy said as he tried throwing a hatchet, not realizing Spike it charging toward him since he was too focused on trying to kill his own father, so he was knocked to the floor before he could even throw the hatchet
"Why are you doing this?!"
"Because ponies will treat you like garbage unless you become something big! And if becoming the lone survivor of a family massacre is how I'm gonna finally earn some respect! Then so be it!"
Jeremy said, pushing Spike off he punched Spike and then threw him onto a table, breaking it, Spike got up rather quickly
"I feel your pain! But some ponies care for you! You don't need respect or recognition to matter! Or to be seen as important in life!"
Spike said, now realizing that people really on carr to notice Spike if he's in this costume and fighting crime, but he can't exactly reveal his identity right now because Equestria needs something to fear the cold and evil, he is that thing to fear, anyways, Jeremy throws a hatchet and it almost hits Spike and Spike grabs the hatchet and throws it back at Jeremy and it hits him, causing a decent scratch on his suit and skin but it pins him to the wall
"There we go..."
Spike said as Twilight stormed in, hearing the commotion
"Here's the culprit...Jeremy McDangle"
Spike said in a deepish voice as he hid in a decently dark part of the room so Twilight wouldn't recognize him
"Thank you Blazewing! I have a lot of questions for you! Can you answer some for me?..."
"I'm sorry, but duty calls..."
Spike said, getting ready to go out the window
"W-Wait! Just one?..."
"Fine..."
"Yay! Okay!... hmm...hmm...why do you do this?..."
"...Because I'm the reason these criminals are going to want to wait til the sun rises..."
Spike said, jumping out the window and running back to his briefcase putting everything away, and deciding to put his grappler in there too and he ran back to Twilight
"What did I miss?..."
Spike said as the guards at the front grabbed Jeremy dragged him away to a wagon and threw him in
"Hmm...Axer...maybe that isn't such a bad name..."
Jeremy said with a menacing chuckle as they closed the door to the wagon on him and they drove away
"A lot apparently..."
Spike said, tilting his head
"Is the cake still available?"
Spike said as Twilight chuckled
"No Spike...I don't think so...but we can go to a nearby bakery if you want a treat!"
Spike nods happily
"Sure!"
Spike said as he and Twilight headed to a bakery and ordered a nice chocolate cake, another successful night, he was starting to get used to this hero thing....
