Twilight Sparkle's Last Book
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe first Victim
The Entity, its vast consciousness teeming with endless possibilities, pondered its next move. It sought a new pawn to manipulate, a fresh puppet to dance to its insidious tune. Its attention was drawn to a newcomer in the quaint town below - a majestic winged unicorn with a coat of rich purple and a mane and tail that shimmered with hues of blue, purple, and pink. The townsfolk greeted her warmly, their voices carrying the name that piqued the Entity's interest.
"Princess Twilight," it mused, a hint of dark amusement in its tone. The name rolled off its metaphorical tongue, a delicious promise of the chaos and despair it could sow. The Entity's vast power thrummed with anticipation. It had found its new plaything, a beacon of hope and light that it would twist and corrupt, turning her into a harbinger of darkness. The prospect filled the Entity with a chilling delight. Twilight Sparkle, the princess of friendship, was about to become its newest puppet, a tragic irony that amused the Entity's twisted sense of humor.
Call upon a spy
The entity, with a forceful stomp of its hoof, summoned Kito to its presence. "Welcome to our new world, Guardian of Prayer," it boomed, its voice echoing through the expanse. Kito, frozen in the form of a statue, mirrored the image of his own creator's current form. Despite his inability to move, he retained the power of speech. "Why have you brought me to this new world, my lord?" he inquired, his voice laced with curiosity and a hint of trepidation.
The entity gestured towards Princess Twilight, who was also present in this new world. "Observe her movements," it commanded Kito. "I have a game to play with her, and your observations will prove invaluable." Kito, ever obedient, agreed without hesitation. "As you wish, my lord," he replied. "Moreover, I must commend your choice of form. It is a wise decision to appear native to this world. Your foresight is to be admired."
The entity's new form, cleverly disguised to blend in with the inhabitants of this world, was a testament to its cunning and adaptability. It was clear that it had meticulously planned its arrival, and Kito's presence was undoubtedly part of its grand scheme. As Kito's gaze followed Princess Twilight's every move, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was a pawn in a much larger game, one whose rules he was only just beginning to understand.
A new Evil
Twilight Sparkle, ever the picture of serenity, encountered her friend Applejack in a state of disarray. "Hi, Applejack," Twilight greeted warmly. "What's got you in such a fluster?"
Applejack, usually the epitome of composure herself, was visibly agitated. "Been lookin' for ya, Twilight," she declared, her voice laced with concern. "Big Macintosh had a right fright out in the orchard today. Spooked somethin' fierce while harvestin' apples. Reckon it might be a changeling."
Twilight's brow furrowed in confusion. "A changeling?" she questioned, her voice laced with skepticism. "Are you certain?"
Applejack's stern expression softened into uncertainty. "Not entirely," she admitted. "All Big Mac said was that it looked like him."
Twilight's confusion deepened. The pieces of the puzzle weren't fitting together. "That doesn't make any sense," she pointed out. "Ponies and changelings have coexisted peacefully ever since Starlight Glimmer reformed Queen Chrysalis."
Applejack's unease remained. "Maybe so," she conceded, "but somethin' tells me this ain't gonna be friendly."
Twilight, ever the voice of reason, attempted to quell Applejack's fears. "Perhaps it was just a shadow, or a trick of the light," she suggested. "Big Mac might have been startled by something entirely harmless."
Applejack remained unconvinced. "Maybe," she replied, "but I can't shake this feelin' that somethin' ain't right. We best be on our guard."
Twilight, respecting Applejack's intuition, nodded in agreement. "You're right," she conceded. "It's always best to be cautious. We'll keep an eye out for anything suspicious."
The two friends, united in their concern, decided to investigate further. They ventured out to Sweet Apple Acres, where Big Macintosh recounted his experience in vivid detail. He described a creature that looked exactly like him, but with an unsettling aura. It had appeared suddenly, causing him to rear up in fright, and then vanished just as quickly.
Twilight and Applejack exchanged worried glances. This was more than just a simple misunderstanding. Something strange was happening in Ponyville, and they were determined to get to the bottom of it.
A small interference
Kito, the guardian of prayer, remained vigilant in his assigned task. He was to keep a watchful eye on Princess Twilight while remaining undetected. His ability to teleport from place to place compensated for his inability to move freely. Yet, a niggling concern lingered in his mind: the potential for unforeseen disruptions, such as the intervention of 'Applejack,' that could jeopardize his creator's intricate game.
His focused observation was abruptly interrupted by the arrival of three inquisitive young fillies. Their curiosity piqued by the sudden appearance of the statue, they began to chatter amongst themselves.
"Where did this statue come from?" Scootaloo wondered aloud, her head tilted in puzzlement.
"Ah don't know," Apple Bloom replied, equally perplexed, "There ain't never been anything like this on the farm."
Scootaloo continued to examine Kito, her eyes narrowing as she studied his form. "It kinda looks like a Nightmare Moon statue... if Nightmare Moon was a Stallion!" she giggled, her observation drawing a shared chuckle from the Cutie Mark Crusaders.
Their laughter abruptly ceased as they realized the statue had vanished into thin air. "Hey, where did it go?!" Sweetie Belle exclaimed, her voice tinged with surprise. The three fillies frantically searched their surroundings, but the statue was nowhere to be found. Their confusion only deepened, leaving them with an unsettling mystery and a lingering sense of unease.
Game 1: Hidden Object.
The sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the landscape as Twilight and Applejack arrived at Twilight's castle. The usually comforting familiarity of the castle was absent, replaced by an unsettling unease.
"I'll see if I can request a couple of guards to search the orchard at Sweet Apple Acres," Twilight suggested, her voice laced with concern. "Right now, it's best to get some rest."
Applejack nodded hesitantly, "If you say so, Twi," she agreed, her brow furrowed with worry. With a parting hug, they went their separate ways.
Twilight entered her castle, the air thick with an unnatural silence. The once vibrant crystal walls were now dull and lifeless, some even cracked and covered in dust. The lanterns that usually illuminated the castle flickered dimly, casting eerie shadows that danced across the walls. A chill ran down Twilight's spine. Had somepony broken in? What had happened?
Determined to find answers, Twilight ventured deeper into the castle, her senses on high alert. She didn't have to wait long. A figure emerged from the shadows, its voice echoing through the dimly lit halls.
"Welcome home, Princess," the voice greeted, its tone a chilling mimicry of Big Macintosh's.
The figure stepped into the light, revealing a horrifying visage. It bore a twisted resemblance to Big Macintosh, but its eyes were black voids with red pupils, and its smile was a grotesque gash that stretched impossibly wide across its face. It towered over Twilight, its presence radiating menace. The cutie mark on its flank was a crudely carved 'X'.
Twilight gasped, instinctively backing away. She gathered her magic, her horn glowing brightly. "Who are you?!" she demanded.
The entity remained silent, taking a step forward. Twilight unleashed a blast of magic, but the entity effortlessly dodged it. "Let's play a game," it boomed, its voice echoing ominously. "I've hidden a book containing all of the things I had done in my previous world. Find it, and I will revert this castle to its former glory."
Twilight scowled, "What makes you think I won't—"
The entity cut her off, its face inches from hers. "Clock's ticking," it growled, "Find my book before I find you."
With a chilling laugh, the entity vanished, leaving Twilight alone in the oppressive silence. She could hear its laughter echoing through the castle, sending shivers down her spine.
Twilight teleported to the castle library. "If he—if that thing were to hide a book anywhere, it would be here," she muttered to herself.
Using her magic, she levitated every book off the shelves, rapidly skimming through them. As she replaced one book, a black book with a large 'X' on its cover caught her eye. Dread washed over her as she opened it.
The book described a world ravaged by a malevolent entity that turned its inhabitants into playthings, forcing them into a macabre series of deadly games. This was undoubtedly the book she was looking for.
Twilight attempted a duplication spell, but it failed. With growing urgency, she conjured a scroll and quill, scribbling a message:
"Dear Princess Celestia,
I hope this message reaches you. An entity has arrived in Ponyville and is now in my castle. I'm not sure what it's doing here, but I know what it will do. This book, which will be attached to this letter, will give you the information needed about this entity and what it plans to do with Equestria... I hear it coming!"
"Your faithful student, Princess Twilight Sparkle."
Twilight sent the letter and the book to Princess Celestia with a teleportation spell, then turned to face the monster that had invaded her home.
Broken Rules
The darkness clung to Twilight Sparkle like a suffocating shroud, the only respite offered by the flickering flames of torches that cast long, ominous shadows across the chamber. These dancing shadows seemed to converge upon a solitary throne, its imposing silhouette a stark contrast to the oppressive darkness. Twilight's instincts urged her towards it, but an unseen force held her captive, binding her with grotesque, organic shackles that pulsed with an unsettling energy.
Seated upon the throne was a figure that twisted Twilight's heart with dread. It was a mirror image of herself, a chilling mockery of the Princess of Friendship. The entity's eyes, however, were a stark departure from Twilight's own – they burned with an otherworldly intensity, reflecting not warmth and kindness, but a chilling, predatory hunger.
With a disorienting suddenness, the entity vanished from the throne and materialized before Twilight, its unsettling grin replaced by a snarl that twisted its features into a mask of fury. "Where is it?!" the entity growled, its voice a chilling echo of Twilight's own.
"Where's what?" Twilight responded, her voice trembling despite her attempts to maintain composure. The fear that gnawed at her was amplified by the entity's stolen appearance, a constant, disorienting reminder of the threat it posed.
"Don't play dumb with me, princess," the entity hissed, its voice dripping with venom. "WHERE IS MY BOOK?!"
Twilight's mind raced, desperately searching for a way to defuse the situation. "There was no book," she lied, her voice barely above a whisper. "I checked the entire library. YOUR BOOK WAS NOT THERE!"
The entity's eyes narrowed, its gaze piercing Twilight's facade with chilling accuracy. It stomped its hooves, the sound echoing ominously in the oppressive silence. In an instant, another figure materialized – Gekido, the Guardian of Rage, his form a twisted reflection of Rarity.
"What is the meaning of my summoning, Lord X?" Gekido inquired, his voice laced with barely restrained fury.
"I'll be heading back to Equestria to retrieve what was stolen," Lord X declared, his voice dripping with menace. "Show Princess Twilight Sparkle what happens to those who break the rules!" With that, he turned and strode away, his every step radiating an aura of malevolence.
Gekido's horn contorted, morphing into razor-sharp claws that dripped with an unsettling ichor. He pinned Twilight down with a hoof, his claws digging into her wings. "You break the rules," he hissed, his voice a chilling echo of Rarity's, "we break you!"
With a brutal yank, he tore at Twilight's wing, the sound of her agonized scream swallowed by the oppressive darkness.
Author's Note
I was thinking that; if Lord X changed his form, then his guardian would also change into the form Lord X has chosen.
Yeah; I called Kito a nightmare moon statue, it's funny!
