Iron Man
Chapter 1: Business As Usual
Load Full StoryNext ChapterIt's another day In Ponyville, I'm a human who goes by Mangola, though that's just a nickname I picked up for myself since I don't like my real name being known, and I'm stealth camping in the bushes, just looking at the ponies going by.
The week has been a bit weird, between getting sucked into this world where Ponies fly and the where magic is real, I also found out that ponies are racist.
Yep, life has been weird, but managed to keep on the down low for a while, for some odd reason nobody went into the forest near ponyville, so since no one wanted to be there, it was only natural for me to take a bit of the forest.
Luckily before being zapped into Equestria, I prepared for a storm and had a bunch of supplies in my backpack, these supplies helped me stealth camp outside of certain buildings without being seen.
Sometimes pondering to myself if it's really worth hiding from this world, but then again, it seemed like the ponies in this place were always doing something fucking stupid.
Acting as if Zecora was a wild beast was aggravating to see, walking up towards her and accidentally scaring her was probably not the best introduction, but it needed to be done.
Introductions were exchanged and soon, we became friends and conversed over some cultural differences between my world and this one.
Zecora reminds me a lot of an old lady who used to visit my family back in my younger days, and in a sense, she brings a sense of nostalgia that wasn't felt in my mind for a while.
Before leaving, my curious ass asked her a fuck ton of questions about this place, which leads to me learning that there are two princesses who move The Moon and The Sun.
The names of these princesses are Celestia and Luna.
My mind short circuited at that idea, two ponies ruling over this place and having control of the fucking moon and sun? It's like saying that the sky is green or something like that.
Anyways, Zecora went on and said that this
“Luna” was apparently banished to the moon after she threw a hissy fit and became Nightmare Moon, an emo version of Luna.
Apparently being sealed inside the moon for 1,000 years until recently, where 6 ponies helped Luna, however these 6 ponies were the ones that acted racist towards Zecora.
The purple one tried to ease their fears, but, from my experience, ignorance is bliss and the fact that this was a country town already spelled it out for me.
After leaving her house, the racist ass ponies showed up to her door and were hounding her with questions. Watching from the trees made my blood boil, yet doing nothing to help her against the equine KKK, however, if I got involved, it would further fuck things in case they accuse her of summoning me from the depths of whatever hell these ponies have.
But it hurt me emotionally to see Zecora get hounded by these pastel racists.
That's why I'm stealth camping here, to study what abilities these creatures have, how likely they are to harm me, and most of all, study their culture, dialect, anything to protect me and Zecora.
It's been 5 hours, my curiosity has been peaked, seeing the intriguing parallels of these ponies and human society, the more time passes the less and less ponies are outside, eventually night dawns and made my way back into the woods.
Through the darkness, my night vision goggles keep me going towards my underground shelter.
It was a pit that was deep enough to set up a shelter, and shield me from whatever bullshit exists out here.
Luckily, if anything tried to fuck with me, my pistol should send back to whatever depths of hell it came from.
The little patch of grass that was blue signified where the entrance is, pulling up the makeshift wood panel made with Zecora’s help, heading into my underground abode which has a solar lantern, I turn to my items carried over from Earth.
My mini stove, clothes, food, mainly MRE’s and Ramen, plus a sleeping bag, a couple of books and surprisingly, a solar charger with my stupid ass forgetting that it was even packed with everything else, strangely my phone came in with me as well.
Of course there was no service available, but it had some stuff that kept me entertained, like the shows that were downloaded fuck knows how long ago, my nights here thus far have been spent cooking the stuff I have and eating it while watching Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Everything was set for about a couple days, maybe a week or so at most, but eventually, it would have to come to me hunting and starting forage for things until either getting too tired being alone and making myself known to the ponies or starving to death.
The more likely option was the former rather than the latter, although it is tough to say whether they will help me acclimate to pony society or just leave me out here.
Zecora also told me that ponies here don't eat meat, so it would probably be taboo if I started hunting animals, even more so because of the yellow pony having an animal sanctuary, from what I've heard.
Apparently the only creatures known to eat meat in this place are Griffins, as they are known to be carnivores. Actually, the zebra told me I had a lot of similarities with Griffins, from the eyes to the temperament, as well as the dietary needs of course.
It seems tempting to try and find out where these Griffins live exactly, maybe getting to know creatures similar to my own can help me in some type of way, maybe hunting to feed their kin should warm them up to me, or perhaps they're even more racist.
Not an impossibility given how dodgy human relations are with our own brethren, maybe asking Zecora about it tomorrow morning should give me more about where they live and how they operate, potentially seeing how integrating with them could work, hopefully everything goes smoothly.
Turning off the lantern, I get into my sleeping bag and shut my eyes.
Tomorrow is a new day but sleeping is kinda a problem for me, so it takes a while for my brain to go into shutdown mode.
Waking up, it's early and slinking out of my sleeping bag, getting up, making my way out of the shelter and to a small lake nearby, granted using it isn't ideal, but it'll have to work, thankfully Zecora was nice enough to give me one of her body wash treatments that were contained in a glass bottle.
After washing myself up, it was time to head out to Zecora's Hut, the trek wasn't that far for me, only around a 5 minute walk from what could be told.
Knocking on her door, she opens it and welcomes me in.
Zecora smiles warmly at me ”Hello my friend, I am happy to see you again".
Answering dryly, I say “Sup, has anything new happened so far, or has it been a slow day here?”.
The Zebra chuckles a bit and relaxes on one of the couches she has “The day has just begun, but soon, it will be done”.
She always rhymes her words, and that's the one thing ticking me off about her, my brain scrambles to try and figure out what she means.
“Uh yeah, I suppose it is too early to tell, if the day will surely be well”, I said a bit surprised at my accidental rhyme.
Zecora blinks surprisingly at me, she smiled a bit as talking to her in a rhyme was something that doesn't come naturally to me.
Scratching the back of my neck, sighing tiredly, my dry mouth moved.
“I don't know what that was, but I didn't do it on purpose, my brain isn't really good with rhymes to be honest”.
Zecora chuckles as she waves her hooves, dismissing my weird statement “I guess you have learned my rhymes, given how long we spent last time”.
Feeling a bit awkward, I respond.
“Probably, picking up lingo with someone you conversed with for a while isn't extraordinary I guess”.
She gets up from the couch, and sits me at a table, “Have you had anything to eat?”.
“Nah, normally I eat at 11 or 12, drinking coffee is my thing which powers me up for the day”.
Zecora blinks and gives me a cup of tea, ”It may not be the same as coffee, but I am sure you will enjoy this tea”.
Picking up the drink and slurping it, my mouth tasted the herbs in it, as well as the caffeine. I wasn't a big fan of this blend, but it'll have to do, can't complain about hospitality, otherwise it'll make me look spoiled.
“So, do you know anything more about these Griffins? You told me that I was very similar to them in a lot of ways, do you know where they live?”, I asked curiously.
Zecora nods and goes to some random bookshelf and pulls out a map, she rolls it out on the table for me to see, her hoof points to a far corner of the map.
“This is Griffinstone, perhaps you are wanting to stay there, as it is similar to your home”.
Noticing that there's a huge ass body of water separating it from this land, causes me to contemplate my options.
Looking at where Ponyville was on the map, it seems like the easiest option would be to integrate with the ponies, however they haven't made a good first impression. Especially with the pink one singing a song about how evil Zecora is, starting to scratch the back of my head, my options were starting to narrow.
Perhaps trying to get to Griffinstone would be worth it, however given how far it is and how primitive the technology of this world was made the trip all the more difficult, especially since I would be heading to the edge of the known world according to the map.
Not to mention the fact that these Griffins could be more aggressive than the ponies, given I've never seen any Griffins and it would be unfair and hypocritical for me to judge, it's too much of a gamble for me to leg it over there.
Slumping back in contemplation causes Zecora to look at me a bit worryingly, of course this snapped back to reality and caused me to sigh.
“I’m just weighing by options, the ponies of this town haven't made a good first impression and for that I feel weary around them seeing as how they treated you”.
Zecora blinks in surprise.
“I am surprised that you came to this conclusion, but I assure you that not all of them fall into this delusion”.
Relaxing a bit, my mind seriously considers perhaps joining this pony society, although it's still not really a good option yet. Before uttering another word, Zecora grabs a book from herself and slides it over to me.
Glancing at the title, my eyes widened with intrigue.
“The Harmonious tale of the Humans, and how they formed Equestria”, was the title, written by Dr. Wolf Callahan.
I open the book and start reading, my eyes are glued to these pages, this changes how I see this place. The names of the Princesses, the architecture of Canterlot, everything is so Roman here, and according to this book, the Romans or known as "Humans" in this world, definitely had a huge part to play in constructing the foundation of Equestria.
But, as soon as my eyes scan the next page, there's frantic knocking at the door.
Zecora gets up to go see who it was, and since apparently Humans were seen as legends in this world, maybe making myself known isn't as bad of an idea as previously thought.
As she opens the door, who else should be there but the four ponies, they were the key to my understanding of this place, however, they looked vastly different from when I last saw them.
The ponies were standing there, but they soon jumped out of the way as a blue blur came rocketing throughout the hut.
Before the blue mare with wings could do any damage, my arm reached out and grabbed her rainbow tail.
As the skittle haired one was about to glare at me, her eyes widened as well as the others who looked at me wide eyed.
Soon, a small, squeaky voice came from somewhere.
“A…A human?”, the voice chirped.
Examining the rainbow haired pony closer, I found an even smaller orange pony on top of her back, with a lasso, and a hat.
Turning my head around, the other 4 looked at me with awe, as Zecora chuckled.
“I see you are all afflicted with some sort of illness”, the Zebra looked at the six ponies, and the purple one spoke up.
“What have you done with Apple bloom?”, she barked out.
Deciding that they were clearly aggressive, I made my way to the purple one, attempting to calm her down.
“Hey, look, I know that this must be weird having a type of being that your kind hasn't seen in over a thousand plus years must be overwhelming, but I want to know what's going on. You've been attacking Zecora, acting as if she were going to harm you lot, but I can assure you that this Zebra has been nothing but a kind soul for me, so politely fuck off”.
The purple one was genuinely taken aback by this, as well as her cohorts, however, she stammered something.
“Where is Applebloom? I know this Zebra must've done something with her!”, she bellowed out.
“And she put a spell on all of us so that we have these horrific and vile blemishes”, the white one spoke up.
My head turns to Zecora, who is as confused as I am.
“Alright, let's unpack this one at a time”, my voice calmed.
“So what happened to this Applebloom? Is she missing or something?”
The tiny pony spoke up, “My little sister went missing as soon as we showed up to this house”.
“And we assumed that this Zebra had kidnapped her”, the white one said.
The pink one with her tongue stuck out nudged the yellow one to say something, the yellow one sighed.
“And Pinkie here believes that this Zebra has decided to cook her into a stew,” her deep voice caught me a bit by surprise, but regaining a bit of my composure, my hand covered my face for a bit.
“So you think Zecora here cooked the orange pony’s sister into a stew, am I right?”, my voice reeked of being done with this bullshittery.
“Well not exactly cooked into a stew, but rather taken captive or something of that nature”, the purple one said a bit nervously.
Me and Zecora looked at each other confused, but slowly started to understand what these ponies were going about.
Suddenly, all of us hear a young childlike voice screaming bloody murder from outside, as my body moves before my brain to check where the noise was coming from, bolting out the door as if I was running from a house fire.
My brain registered it was coming further into the forest, sprinting towards the screaming child noise that got louder and louder, but, another noise could also be heard as well.
Something like a beast was heard growling, and soon, the source of the noises was found, a huge wolf-like thing made out of wood was inching closer and closer to a small pony with a red ribbon in her hair, crying.
“Applejack! Somepony! Please Help!”, Applebloom cried out.
I marched towards the two and pulled out my gun, pointing it at the wolf thing, our eyes met as we stared, my body got in the way of its prey, and it showed anger in its eyes, like the flaming pit of hell, but it must've seen something in my eyes as well, because the wolf creature soon backed off from me and Applebloom, going back into the deepest crevices of the forest it came from.
Looking back, the red haired pony looked at me shocked and surprised.
“Y-your a Hu-”, she staggered out, but soon we both heard the rapidly clopping of a bunch of ponies, presumably the 6 ponies looking for Applebloom.
And like clockwork they showed up, a mix of shock and relief on their faces, but also one of pain.
The small pony ran up to the orange one and said, ”That human saved my life!”.
Looking at the ponies as she said this, they're eyes widened and stared at me, and soon Zecora showed up as well, looking relieved.
“It's not safe this deep into the forest, we should go back to Zecora's hut, if you want to of course”, my voice was still a bit panicked from the wolf thing but that was to be expected.
The 7 ponies nodded, as well as Zecora, so we made our way back to the hut.
After that happened, things started to calm down, soon the 6 ponies apologized for their insensitive actions as they found out the true cause of their ailments, which stemmed from a flower known as Poison Joke.
Because of this, Zecora agreed to make a cure for this, and asked for them to get her a bath type thing in Ponyville while she grabbed her ingredients.
A couple hours later, I was in the spa of this small town, with six mares who looked relatively relaxed as Zecora cured them of their ailments, they no longer looked bizarre and were talking with each other about random things.
My mind was wandering around, until I felt a hoof tap on my foot.
“Um, heya mister?”, Applebloom asked with a hint of caution.
“Yeah?”, my voice told her in a somewhat unamused tone.
“I was wondering, why did you save me from that Timberwolf? And why did it back away from you?”, she asked.
My mind went blank on that, now that she mentioned it, why did this so-called Timberwolf back away from me? Was it because I was more intimidating? Or perhaps it hadn't seen humans before and didn't know what to make of me.
It wouldn't surprise me if it retreated out of fear, as the book about Humans in Equestria did say something about there being almost no Timberwolves around that era.
Of course before reading more about that, the 6 ponies came into Zecora's place, and as they say, the rest is history.
