HTC(Hazard Training Course)/The Long Wait/Ready for the Job
WEEK ONE OF TRAINING

The very first thing for Twilight when she got to a small off-site facility for Pony Mesa, was to get specialized training for her to hopefully get an active job. The thing that was surprising was that in a way, THIS is going to be the hardest challenge for Twilight.
For Twilight's part, this challenge brought out something that she lost after she became an alicorn. Be better than she was at the task before.
She also met a few new ponies, she even met dragons, griffins, changelings, and even hypogriffs. After she'd met more and more, she became quick friends with them. Well, she might as well make friends, that IS what she is a princess of. Friendship. And they'd be going through training together for the next month.
The first session of training was for getting to know their level of expertise. Though for Twilight, since she IS a savior of the world multiple times over, the trainers knew she'd do great.
The first couple of days were to learn how to use equipment, like the HEV Suit . To the shock of the trainees, especially Twilight, they had to learn to maintain weapons, mainly guns, like from the human world. Twilight thought to herself, 'Why would they train us to use weapons like this? Maybe it's for protection against wildlife or something. Hopefully it's nothing bad.'
For the next five days it was torture. They had to go through obstacle courses while wearing a 50 to 80 pound suit to fix 'hazardous' situations.
For Twilight though, since she did have to be with Shinning Armor during his training days a few times. Shinning had made her train with him so she could use that for her life. Thankfully this training helped Twilight with completing the courses easily.

WEEK 2-3 OF TRAINING / THE LONG WAIT

For the next couple of weeks, training was unbelievable torture.
It had gotten worse. The first week was basic training to know how to use basic tools and techniques to show the basic hazards. But the training got to more hazardous courses, and every creature was having a horrible time, even the dragons.
But for Twilight, she had a rough time. Especially since they had to stay up till late training and wake up early to start training again.
These couple of weeks also had them studying for dangerous events just to prepare for something called a 'resonance cascade'.
Since this was the schedule they're going by, Twilight wasn't able to send a letter to her family and friends. She was EXTREMELY disappointed with this breakthrough, but she was distracted by the training for her job as well. Just like how she focuses on her books back home.
Towards the end of the third week, Twilight had a huge break before the final week. She realized that she hadn't even sent a letter in TWO weeks. Twilight ran to her desk and quickly started writing.
'Dear Princesses, Friends, and Family,
She then sent the letter and waited.

In Canterlot, the everypony that cared for Twilight was in the throne room sharing the same worry. But all of a sudden, a letter appeared with Twilight's seal. Which made the gloomy atmosphere get filled with relief and happiness. They opened the letter and read.
As they read they had happy tears, that she was just busy and that she hadn't changed.

LAST WEEK OF TRAINING

This last week was beyond calm, unlike most of the past two weeks. It was just a basic study session.
During that week, every creature found that 95% of the trainees weren't there anymore. There was about 200 now there's 10.
The for those who thought it was too much for them decided to go to different branches of science or just left entirely.
Twilight was 1-10 trainees left. She was shocked to see so few left.
As the end of the week came to a close, and they were beginning to go to their new job, something felt weird for Twilight. During the last few days, only she started seeing a strange stallion with a blue suit and tie, holding a brief case, just looking at her.
Twilight got snapped out of her thoughts when the trainer said, "Alright every creature, congratulations are in order for your determination and prowess. You all are our new members of the Science Team. We'll bring you all to your dorm rooms. Then we'll do a proper welcoming, but welcome to Pony Mesa."
In a place where nopony saw, the stallion that Twilight saw said, "Yes, welcome and prepare for unforseen consequences."

Let's just say he is a mutual friend. Let's just say things are going to become destructive very fast. I hope you enjoyed. This chapter I just put it together as I wrote, but I hope it's good enough.
Pinkie: Yeah, I think this is good enough. But it's slightly scary at the end.

Pony Life: Welcome to Pony Mesa
It was a very beautiful day in Equestria, especially in the town of Ponyville. It was a truly wonderful day for the town, but it was even more wonderful for 8 ponys and one dragon.
And these ponys were none other than the Elements of Harmony, their faithful dragon, and two reformed villains, but great friends.
One pony who was lying on a cloud. The pony had a cyan coat, rainbow mane, and an aura that said 'I am 20% cooler than most ponys'. And her name was Rainbow Dash, the Element of Loyalty, a Pegasus, and a member part of the best flyingteam ever, the Wonderbolts. "Ahhh, this is the life."
Then below said cloud was a pony with a light yellow coat, pink mane, and a very big affinity for animals. Her name was Fluttershy, the Element of Kindness, another Pegasus but extremely quiet when she's not with her friends. She was enjoying being with her pet bunny, Angel. "Aww, Angel, I'm glad you are enjoying this as much as I am."
Right nearby the quiet mare was a very pink (EXTREMELY pink) mare with a bubbly attitude and an earth pony. She is also hyperactive and bouncing in place, she can also defy the laws of physics. She is named Pinkie Pie, the Element of Laughter. "HI author, how are you today. I bet twilight is going to have a fun adventure, but also sad."
Hi Pinkie. Anyways, the next mare is a very hard working, farm pony with a tan coat with a blonde mane, also an earth pony. Her name is Applejack, the Element of Honesty, aka AJ. She gave a raised eyebrow towards Pinkie and said, "Ah'll never understand that girl."
Next to AJ, was a mare with a white pristine coat, a beautiful curled purple mane, and a picnic couch. Her name is Rarity, the Element of Generosity, and she's a unicorn. She said to AJ, "We'll never understand her darling."
The last Element barer, is equestria's second newest princess with a purple, indigo, and velvet mane, a lavender coat, and an alicorn. She is called Twilight Sparkle, the Princess of Friendship, the Element of Magic. She saw her dragon assistant and little brother bringing over two of their friends/reformed villains. "Hey Spike, girls, over here."
Her dragon assistant, also known as Spike, ran over. He was a purple dragon with a light tan belly with green spines going from his head to tail. He said back, "We are coming Twi."
The first of the reformed villains was a mare with an amber coat, a firey mane and a firey personality. She was also just visiting her friends from beyond the mirror gateway to another universe where she was named an Element of Harmony in that world called Element of Empathy, Sunset Shimmer. She laughed at what the other mare next to her said, "That would've been an adventure and a half. I'm glad the everybo-pony is alright."
The last mare is the ex-student of Princess Twilight and a former villain. She has a light purple coat, purple and cyan mane, and a very great personality. She is also a hot head, and calm pony when she wants to be. She is known as Starlight Glimmer. "Yeah I agree. I'm just upset I got captured, but let's just enjoy this day with everypony."
"Now that everypony is here, I have something that I want to tell you." Twilight said nervously unsure of how'd they'd act.
"What is it Twi?" Sunset asked.
"Yeah, what is it? Huh? Huh? Huh?" Pinkie asked with the widest smile that you would ever see, while bouncing over to Twilight.
"Well... I uh... wanted to see if I could take a um break from all these adventures we've been having." Twilight said eyes down cast.
"Well, isn't that what we are doing?" Rainbow asked confused.
Twilight sighed, "Well I was meaning for an extended period of time away from all of this." as she waved her hoof around. "I just want to spend time er... away from Ponyville and explore things that I haven't done in years, like with science or learning something new."
To say the others were shocked was an understatement. They looked at Twilight like she grew two heads, but they then smiled at Twilight and said, "We understand where you are coming from."
"Huh!?!" Twilight looked up in confusion.
"Listen Twi, we understand that you really need a break from being a princess, so we think that it's a beautiful idea." Starlight said.
"I-I-I thought you girls would be mad or.. or sad." Twilight said with worry.
"Listen Twi, we understand that sometimes we need a break from everything, especially me when Ah get overworked on the farm." Aj said.
"Or like when I overworked with the wonderbolts." Rainbow said.
"Or like me in school and at my sushi job at the mall." Sunset said.
"The rest of us get like that all the time darling. You just need to know when to take a break from your duties and general life." Rarity said.
"Thanks girls, but what should I do. There's a lot of things that I can do, I just don't know what." Twilight said.
"What if you ask Princess Celestia?" Fluttershy suggested that quietly.
"Hmmm, that actually sounds like a great idea Fluttershy. Spike take a letter." Twilight said.

In the city of Canterlot, the capital of Equestria, the two royal sisters, Celestia and Luna, rulers of the great nation, were in the throne room finishing a meeting with dignitaries. As the meeting was coming to a close, they saw green smoke come in and a letter rolled up with Twilight's royal seal appear.
"It seems that you got a letter so this meeting is adjourned for the moment princess." The deep voice of a dignitary said.
"Yes sir we shall continue this meeting another time, thank you for coming." Princess Celestia said.
"Thank you princess, we shall see you again soon." The dignitary said.
As the sister watched them leave Luna asks, "Why would Twilight send a letter, is thy in trouble erm.. sorry sister."
Celestia chuckles, "It's alright Lulu, I think it's just Twilight saying hello or asking for help with a princess duty. I guess we should read this to find out though."
"Agreed sister." Luna said.
'Dear Princess Celestia,
"This is surprising and very sudden sister." Luna said shocked.
"I agree, but I do have a place in mind to hopefully help." Celestia said while smiling wide.

A letter appears about 5 minutes later and Twilight IMMEDIATELY grabs the letter and reads it out loud.
'Dear Twilight Sparkle,
"That does sound like a good idea." Sunset said.
"Yeah, it does. I'll do it." Twilight said.
"Great!" All of her friends said.
"Spike take a letter."Twilight said very giddy.

Back in the castle of Canterlot, they saw a letter appear. The second it came they read the letter. It said.
'Dear Celestia,
"Welp, she agrees with the option." Luna said.
"Yes she did. Let's start contacting them and get the information for Twilight." Celestia proclaimed.

Two days later, everypony including the princess and Twilight's family were there to see Twilight off on her future endeavors.
"Be careful Twily, we'll miss you LSBFF." Shinning Armor said with tears in his eyes.
"Don't you all worry everypony. Especially you Shinny. I'll be fine. I'll contact you all daily, and I'll make sure I'm safe no matter. And don't worry this isn't goodbye, it's just I'll see you again soon."Twilight said as she hugged her family and friends.
"Bye Twilight." Everypony yelled.
Then Pinkie being Pinkie yells as she galloped after the train, "TWILIGHT, I'LL NEVER FORGET YOUUUUU!!!!!!!! Hey author, do you think she heard me?"
Yep she did.
"That's great." Pinkie exclaimed.
Pinkie, never change.

Pony Life: Welcome to Pony Mesa
A week later after training completed, and after the 10 that got the job, they had an orientation on where'd they would be working. Pretty much the layout of the place really.
Twilight Sparkle for her part, just to make it easier on her, made a different type of memory spell that she used during Discord's return to remember everything that she saw. Lets just say the others were envious of her.
A few weeks later, she was in her dorm asleep.
An with that she headed out to the tram system to begin her day with a massive smile on her face.

ON THE TRAM

Twilight got onto the tram to begin the journey. The tram started going with the automated voice system.
Good morning, and Welcome to the Pony Mesa Tramsit System...
'Well even though the tram got here a couple of minutes late, at least the system thinks it's going through a normal greeting.' Twilight thought with a smile.
This automated train is provided for the security and convenience of the Pony Mesa Research Facility Personnel...
'Hmmm, I wonder what test sample I'm going to help study today.' Twilight thought.
The time is 8:47 AM. Current topside temperatures is 93 degrees with an estimated high of 105. The Pony Mesa Compound is maintained at a pleasant 68 degrees at all times...
'Today is going to be VERY hot today, but at least, we have cooling systems.' Twilight internally groaned.
This train is inbound from Level 3 Dormitories to Sector C Test Labs and Control Facilities. If your intended destination is a high-security beyond Sector C, you will need to return to the central transit hub in Area 9 and board a high-security train.
'I wonder who has done that before to have it on the P.A. system. I mean I get this place is huge and stuff, but come ooon, we have literal arrows pointing witch direction to go.' Twilight thought with an eye roll before she looked up and saw a helicopter land with equestrian soldiers.
If you have not submitted your identity to the retinal clearance system, you must report to Pony Mesa personnel for processing before you will be permitted into the high-security branch of the transit system...
As Twilight was waiting to proceed she looked up to the right side of the tram and saw a stallion up in the tram above her. She realized it was the same stallion during training. He grabbed his tie and shook it as the trams went on. 'Why is he here all of the sudden, it's been a month since I saw him.' Twilight shuddered at the thought.
Due to the high toxicity of material handled in the Pony Mesa Compound, no smoking, eating, or drinking is permitted in the Pony Mesa Tramsit System. Please keep your limbs inside the train at all times. Do not attempt to open the doors until the train has come to a complete halt at the station platform. In the event of an emergency, passengers are to remain seated and await further instruction. If it is necessary to exit the train, disabled personnel should be evacuated first. Please stay away from electrified rails and proceed to an emergency station until assistance arrives.
'You know, I wonder what my friends are doing. I know it's been a few days since their last letters, hehe. Pinkie is probably well... being Pinkie. Spike is probably hanging out with Rarity. Aj and Rainbow are in another competition. Fluttershy is at her animal sanctuary. Starlight and Sunset are hanging out.' Twilight thought happily while reminiscing about the good times back at Ponyville.
A reminder that the Pony Mesa Hazard Course Decathlon will commence this evening at 1900 hours in the Level 3 facility. The semi-finals for high-security personnel will be announced in a separate, secure-access transmission. Remember: more lives than your own may depend on your fitness
'The princesses are probably just protecting Equestria and running everything.' Twilight thought about as she remembered the Galla's and the times she visited her fellow princesses.

'And my family in Canterlot and the Erystal Empire. I hope they're doing well.' Twilight thought about everypony she grew up with, especially about Spike.

Missing a scheduled urinalysis or radiation checkup is grounds for immediate termination. If you feel you have been exposed to radioactive or other hazardous materials in the course of your duties, contact your Radiation Safety Officer immediately! Work safe, work smart. 'I should probably focus on the day now I'm about to arrive.' Twilight mentally berated herself for getting distracted.
Now arriving at Sector C Test Labs and Control Facilities. Please stand back from the automated door and wait for the security officer to verify your identity. Before exiting the train, be sure to check your area for personal belongings. Thank you and have a very safe and productive day
Pony Life: Welcome to Pony Mesa
When the tram arrived and stopped, the security guard on duty walked up to the door. The guard was non other than her new friend from the Storm King invasion, Tempest Shadow. A mare with a dark pink coat and cut mane, with a scar over her eye.
"Aww, the Princess of Friendship decided to put her hair into a bun." Tempest teased.
"Oh, wo is me, I am so hurt by this." Twilight teased back.
"How was your night and why did you change it up." Tempest asked as she opened the door.
"Well I wanted a new look so I decided to go with a new look. A new day a new me after all Tempest. I think that's Rarity's influence I suppose." Twilight said with a massive grin that could almost rival Pinkie's as they walked towards the airlock type entrance.
"Well that's awesome, but on another note, I heard you are going to do a big test today. Know what it is?" Tempest asked.
"No, but I bet it's going to be the very best thing to happen in a while." Twilight exclaimed excitedly.
"I bet it is. Welp be safe in the test chamber and you are starting to run late. My shift is almost over as well and See ya." Tempest said.
"Yeah, see ya!" Twilight said as she waved to the former villain as the airlock closed.
A minute passes by and the other side of the airlock opened. Twilight walked over to the desk in the lobby.
"Hey everypony, what's going on today." Twilight greeted.
"Oh, hello Twilight, we're trying to deal with a system crash that happened a few minutes ago. We did have messages for you, we are just trying to get it back now." The changeling at the desk said.
"Alright, um... that's strange, after the test, I'll try to help." Twilight said with a smile.
"Thanks Twilight, you should probably head to the test chamber, be safe. See you then." The changeling said with a smile.
"Don't worry, I will."Twilight said as she waved towards the desk worker.
Twilight walked down the hallway to get her HEV Suit on so she could get ready. She also wanted to see what every other creature was doing today so she walked down a separate hallway.
As Twilight walked down she looked into the science lab to her left and saw something she wasn't expecting. A stallion with a suit and tie, with a brief case talking to a scientist. He turned his head, smirked, and adjusted his tie, and turned back. The scientist noticed her and closed the blinds.
Twilight decided immediately to turn around and gallope to the locker room. 'Why is he here? How is he here? I saw him leaving in a tram above me.' Twilight panicked internally before stoping at the hallway she needed to go down. 'Ok, do the breathing techniques that Cadence taught you.' She took a deep breath and holding it and her hoof to her chest. As she breathed out she put her hoof out. 'Ok, just forget about it and just continue on with my day.'Twilight thought.
Twilight started walking down the hallway when she heard Tempest call her name. "Hey Twilight, I thought you would be half way to the test chamber by now." Twilight turned towards her and Tempest was shocked to see her extremely pale. "What happened Twi?" Tempest asked worried.
"Umm... w-w-well, I saw something th-that has been following me since this earlier. I just d-dont want to talk about it right now. Are you headed to the break room?" Twilight stammered out.
"Yes I am, but if it is something like that, I could head with you to at least the elevator." Tempest suggested.
"Yeah, that would be nice." Twilight said with a tearful smile.
As the two walked towards the break room and locker room they went to the break room to say hello to their co-workers. As they walked in they saw a griffin sitting at the table and a pony looking at the bulletin board.
"Oh look, it's the one and only princess egg-head." The griffin snarked with a smile.
"Oh look, it's the queen of snark up and at it again." Twilight snarked back. "But I guess that title goes to Rainbow Dash anyways."
"Jeez Twi, I never thought you'd do that." Tempest teased.
"Yeah, what is up with you today Twi?" The griffin asked.
Twilight blushed at that, "Well today, I've been missing my friends back home today. More so than usual. Especially since I've had done things my friends do."
"Well Twi, you should do it more often." Tempest said.
Twilight turned towards the microwave in the room and asked, "Hey, is that Magnuson's lunch?"
"That is. Why? Wait, are you thinking what I think you are going to do?" The griffin asked with a wide grin. "That is BRILLIANT. I won't tell any creature." As the griffin and Tempest watched as Twilight did a thing Rainbow would do. Activate the microwave wave.
A few seconds later the casserole, I'll just say it.... blew up. Every creature laughed at what happened. Tempest walked to the snack machine grabbed something to eat. Both her and Twilight said their farewells and left to the locker room.
"Ah, hello Twilight, Tempest, I hate how we have to wear these ridiculous ties. Ah but I won't bother you with that. Go ahead and get into your suit for the test now. Good luck in the chamber." A stallion named Dr. Coomer said with a happy go lucky attitude.
"Oh, don't worry, I will. Have a great day. Tempest I'll go get into the suit now. I be back in a few minutes." Twilight responded.
Twilight walked over to the left into the HEV gear room. She went over to the console in the center and pressed the middle main button. It opened up the chamber with her HEV Suit. She went down the stairs to the main area and walked up to the Suit and started putting it on.
Once Twilight was done putting it on, she heard a a mechanical female voice ring out. This is the Mark IV Hazardous Environment Suit. Medical systems active. Temperature system engaged. Power at 0%. All systems online.
'I do have some power cells in my locker. I'll grab them to make sure I'm safe.' Twilight thought as she walked out of that area.
"Ah, Twilight, you need anything else before we go?" Tempest asked.
"Yes I do. It will only take a second." Twilight said as she walked to her locker. She picked up the cells and walked away. "Alright, I'm ready."
Tempest nodded and walked out and back down the hallway with Twilight. As they walked, they talked about just daily things they've done. But as quickly as they talked, they got to the elevator and had to say farewells, for now anyways.
As the elevator went down, Twilight thought about her friends again. She continued to think about them as she approached the servo room for the test chamber.
Once there, she got brought out of her thoughts by seeing two of her friends from Ponyville, but not who you are expecting. It was Doctor Whooves and Lyra Heartstrings.
"Hey Twilight, how are you today?" Lyra asked.
"Hey Doc, Lyra. I'm great, how are you?"Twilight said a little too happily.
They didn't say anything about it and Dr. Whooves said, "Well, honestly, I don't think we're ready for the test..." and as he was talking, the computer systems blew up behind them. They rushed over to the area.
"Honestly, I think we can do it today. You go on to the chamber Twi. We'll get this." Lyra said with a grunt as she started fixing the computer.
"Ok, I um.. guess. I'll see you after the test." Twilight said with a little worry from Dr. Whooves comment, but put that thought aside.
Twilight continued on into the next shorter elevator ride. She walked down the corridor to the chamber airlock. As Twilight walked down to the door the guard dragon there opened the door to the airlock and closed behind her.
"Ah good Twilight, you're here. Well before we let you in, we are going to give a slight warning. This sample we got from our seller gave us a VERY, VERY, pure sample. The purest sample we've gotten. In fact, it's the largest one." One of the scientists in the room said.
"Right, so this sample is the most unstable. But if we follow proper procedures, we will be fine. There is a .01% chance for a resonance cascade to happen, but since that chance is so low, we don't need to worry. Any questions?" The second scientist asked.
"Nope, I'm good. Yeah that's nothing to worry about to much with that chance. I'm ready." Twilight said with determination. The two scientists nodded and used the retinal scanner and opened the door.
As she walked in the test chamber, the intercom came on with a scientist speaking. "Twilight, today you are going to do our normal procedure for this. But we can't stress this enough, you must be careful with this sample. Now let's continue."
The first step is to wait for the system to get to 80% and hold it there until we are ready. While we wait, go to the control panel on the upper balcony. Be ready to start the rotators when we're ready up here."
Twilight nodded and trotted up to the ladder and climbed up to the upper balcony. And trotted over to the button to be ready.
The scientist on the intercom spoke, "Ok, we are ready to start the rotators. Go a head and press the button, we don't know how long we can hold it for. Then head towards the loading area to wait for the sample. And now one more thing. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use magic near the sample when it arrives. The sample could be VERY volatile if you use magic."
Twilight pressed the button and went back down the ladder. Then got to the area where the material would arrive.
The scientist said, "Alright, now the material is coming up. When putting it in, make sure you do it very carefully. Maybe almost as slow as molasses drips off a spoon. We are ready Twilight. Do it when you are."
Twilight steeled herself, breathed in and out. Then she slowly pushed the device holding the material.
Then as the material hit the beam of light, everything that could possibly have gone wrong... happened. The scientist yelled, "TWILIGHT, GET OUT OF THERE NOW!!! IT BECAME UNSTABLE!!! WE CAN'T SHUT IT DOWN!!!! HURRY GET OUT NO
As the scientist was talking, something happened to Twilight. She got transported to a different place. It had weird creatures and plant life... IN SPACE.
She was suddenly brought back to the test chamber. The place was falling apart. But as quickly as she got back she was back in the other place. But she was in a cave this time.
Weird creatures that were almost human like walked over. They have a hinge type legs. Three arms and four haunting red eyes. They were speaking a completely different language. They got close, looking Twilight over thoroughly. Before they got the chance to do anything else. Twilight was brought out of that place.
Once she teleported, something hit her head and she blacked out.
