Mansion (Looting) Matters
Cat Burglars
Load Full StoryThe moon shined across Equestria more specifically in Ponyville were most ponies were fast asleep off in there own dream world.
That is except for Silver Spoon aka Jewelry Box, a member of the Petty Pack while that name was not well known among the public they were known among the Royal Guard as a bumbling group of petty thieves often being caught with at least one other member partner.
She wore a pair of blue glasses, fake pearl necklace around her neck in fact the rest of her outfit was covered in fake jewelry. She wore a silver jacket with fake blue diamonds in place of buttons, purple shirt with fake gold plated stars and grey shorts with fake rubies in place of strings.
She used to live a “Easy life with minimal effort” mainly due to her family’s connections with a oil family, Silver was friends with the family’s daughter unfortunately once the father had blew up his fortune so did Silver’s family.
The clothes she is currently wearing were once made with the real jewelry, unfortunately her family sold the originals and once that money ran out Silver Spoon and her parents went their separate ways. She became roommates with another pony, got a job, before ultimately resorting to petty crime.
She poked her head into an alleyway taking note of an open oil drum and a pile of discarded branches as emergency hiding spots. Jewelry starts sneaking her way across occasionally stepping into the small shallow puddle. She hears louder footsteps and swiftly but quickly goes into the oil drum.

Another pony this one an adult pegasus named Derring Do, on top of her grey and black mane was a grey beanie. She wore a dark green shirt with black pants . A purple cloak was tied around her waist. Daring Do originally wrote novels under the alias Shadow T exaggerating certain situations like, struggling to get her magazine back during a windy day being turned into Daring Do and Sacred Scroll Stealing Spirits or a stray cat stealing her hay burger as Daring Do And The Curse Of The Sphinx’s Ring.
She used to wear glasses similar to Silver Spoon’s except they were red. Speaking of Silver, she wasn’t much of a finical obstacle for Daring when she first met her as unlike most roommates she actually started working to provide for herself. Back to the glasses, Daring eventually underwent surgery to fix her vision unfortunately this robbed the duo of all their money, normal job opportunities and in Daring’s case all inspiration and money to publish more novels.
Not wanting to get stuck working odd jobs for a fraction of their lives the duo resorted to petty crime.
Hands in her pockets Shadow Thief walking from the left, as soon as she sees the alleyway turns her whole body towards it, start walking down the alley but when she spots a puddle fully turns her body to the left walks a few steps in that direction, turns forward again, another puddle turns her whole body right, another few steps turns her whole body forward again walking slightly past the oil drum.
“HANDS UP!” Jewelry Box demanded pointing a pistol at the pegasus.
“DON’T SHOOT PLEASE!” Shadow begged putting her hands up
“I’ll GIVE YOU WHATEVER YOU WANT MY-“ she turns around “It’s you Jewelry Box?”
“Sorry about that Shadow Thief thought you were one of the employees of this establishment taking a shortcut home.” The earth pony explained climbing out of the oil drum.
“You’ll definitely be sorry now.” The pegasus said taking the gun from her.
“Just doing this for safekeeping.” Shadow puts the firearm in her partner’s jacket pocket, grabs her glasses by the arms and puts them on her own face, ensuring she doesn’t accidentally stain them. Finally the former author reaches in her own pocket pulls out a comb, using it on her mane before slapping her, making her do a half spin.
“Do something like that again I’ll pop the lenses of your glasses out and make you wear them like contacts!” The older thief warned handing Jewelry her glasses back “What are doing out here anyway the train to the Crystal Empire arrives in an hour if we want to pull off that heist we have to go now!”
“Trains run 24/7 now?”
“Of course! I suggested the big heist as soon as that law was established luckily these trains don’t have a night time schedule and still run on a day one.”
“So they don’t arrive or leave earlier or later?”
“Exactly! Now come on!” The pegasus said as she starts to pull the earth pony by the arm and out of the alleyway, somehow not breaking her pervious walking pattern.
“Isn’t 2 poor looking ponies getting on a train to the Crystal Empire at nighttime gonna look a bit suspicious?” The teen asked making her partner stop in her tracks.
“I’ve seen worse things on that train, like used medical needles, rats the size of a medium chip bags and a unicorn selling raw meat.” The adult responded leaving her teenage partner speechless
“So I guess we’re not gonna rob this massive mansion then?”
“Did you just say mansion?”
“Yeah I was walking to the train station when I noticed this large building resembling a house.” Jewelry Box explained pointing at a large white mansion.
“You know what this should only take a few minutes bet we can still make the train.” Not breaking her movement pattern. The duo of thieves walk to the main entrance a set double doors. Jewelry Box testing the right door to find it locked, she goes to test the left on only for Shadow Thief to stop her.
“Why are testing them they’re obviously gonna be locked.”
“Well maybe the owner got cocky and left the door unlocked.” The younger burglar reasons which the older one roll her eyes at.
“Let me see if I have something to unlock this.” She reaches in her beanie and pulls out a mane pin “Used this once never again! Don’t know how some ponies go on with multiple of these in their manes. Here take it!”
“I don’t use mane pins either.” Jewelry Box whined
“Just throw it away or something.” The Shadow Thief replied waving her hand in a dismissive manner now looking through her pockets. Shrugging the earth pony unknowingly pushes the left double door open and throws the pin inside before closing it. Turns out while the owner had turned the lock on the left door they had forgotten to shut it properly.
Realizing her grave mistake she goes to push the door open again only to find it locked, she had shut it properly.
“Wait a second…Jewelry Box do you still have the mane pin maybe we can use to lock pick the door like in that spy movie I saw at that restaurant?” Shadow asked taking her hands out of her pockets.
“The mane pin?
“Yes the mane pin?”
“The mane pin?”
“Yes the mane pin where you put it?”
“You mean the mane pin you just handed me?”
“Yes! Where is it!”
“Oh that mane pin, I accidentally threw it inside the mansion cause I didn’t realize the left door was unlocked and locked the left door .” The earth pony explained, her partner in crime sighs, removes her glasses, put them on her own face, combs her mane and slaps her, making her do a semi-spin.
“Do something like that again and I’ll shove the arms of your glasses up your ears!” Daring warned.
“Looks like we’re gonna have to find another way in.” The pegasus’ eyes eventually land on a metal rain down spout “We can use that water spout to get in!”
“Good idea Shadow Thief!” Rather than trying to get a grip on the grey pipe Jewelry Box starts pulling on curved part. Confused Shadow walked over to her.
“What are you-“ Before the pegasus could finish the earth pony yanked the curved pipe out accidentally hitting her partner in the cheek.
“Oh sorry about that Sha…” Jewelry trails off lightly tapping Shadow’s cheek in hopes of turning her frown upside down.
Putting Jewelry’s hand down, snatching the glasses off her face, Shadow puts them on, combs her mane and smacks her palm against her cheek, making her almost do a whole spin, but also drops the metal pipe right on Shadow’s hoof somehow making her go cross eye.
“Do something like that again and I’ll hit you with a metal mallet.” She semi-normally warned before fully managing to regain her composure “What were you thinking?”
“When you said use the water spout I thought you meant use a piece of it to break a window.”
“Why would you think that if we break a window, we’ll wake everyone in this area up! Look just follow my lead, spreading her wings she manages to make her way up a third of the pipe. Jewelry goes to follow but before she can grab onto the pipe.
“Stay down there, I’ll help you up once I’m up.” Shadow place her hooves on pipe fasteners using them as a make ladder. She eventually manages to grab onto the railing of a balcony and get on said balcony by slipping through an opening.
“Now you can come up, don’t worry I’ll help you!” Shadow said leaning about half her body over the balcony’s opening. Jewelry Box seems to hug the pipe and she starts scooting up the pipe.
“Not like that! Use the pipe fasteners!” Jewelry Box quickly gets the hang of it and once she makes it 2/3 of the way up, she grabs Shadow’s hand allowing the pegasus to pull the earth pony up.
“Luckily for us they left a window open!” Shadow informed pointing at said entrance point. Both enter through the window but fail to notice that they knocked something off the sill. Shadow then feels something brush against her hoof.
“Think I stepped on a toy fluff.” She kicks the suspected toy aside. Jewelry Box decides on a more practical approach deciding to get on all fours and attempted to look for something of value, when she feels pain against her hand. Luckily she managed to keep herself from screaming.
“Think I cut myself on some needles.” Crawling over to a wall she starts feeling across it for anything stealing worthy. Once reaching the end of the wall empty handed she goes to get up only to hit her head on a brick in the wall, a few seconds later the moonlight allows her to make out the shape of a light switch.
“Hey Shadow think I found the light switch!” The teen goes to flip it when the adult stops her “Don’t touch it! It’s clearly an alarm disguised as a light switch.”
The pegasus walks over to another brick this one resembling the shape of a dial “This is the light switch disguised as light simmering dial.” She turns it only to cause a loud air sound.
“I think you turned on the exhaust fan!” Jewelry Box yelled
“What?”
“I THINK YOU TURNED ON THE EXHAUST FAN!”
“I’M TRYING TO TURN IT OFF!” She attempts to turn the dial in either direction to no avail eventually she pull the dial out turn off the exhaust fan in the process.
“You think anyone heard that?” Shadow asked her partner as they both went silent a few moments went by and not a single peep.
“I think we’re good.” Jewelry Box said walking back to the light switch she flips it turning on the lights to the establishement.
“Wait a second…” Shadow sees a scratching post, a few bags of cat food, cat nip, a box of cat toys spots a logo reading Ponyville Cat Hotel “Jewelry Box…THIS IS A CAT HOTEL!”
Before the earth pony could respond a cat leaped onto her mane, and started scratching
“THIS FEELS WORSE THAM MY MOM COMBING ME IN THE MORNING!” She screams falling to the floor as more cats pounced and piled up on her.
One of Shadow’s hooves are scratched by a feline causing her to grab it and hopping around on one hoof.
“WHY DO THEY ALWAYS GO FOR MY HOOVES!” Shadow yelled, continuing to hop around, remembering an incident where a tranquillizer dart was shot into her hooves, before being tackled by a cat.
The duo of thieves walk out of the right door in the set of double doors, The Shadow Thief not breaking her original movement pattern empty handed and covered in bandages from the hotel’s first aid kit. Half of Shadow’s cloak was torn off and stuffing was missing from her beanie. The fake rubies on Jewelry’s shorts and a set of fake blue diamond buttons were missing from her outfit.
“This is gonna look more suspicious right?” Jewelry Box asked
“You’re lucky we still have 15 minutes to make it and I once saw an earth pony with a missing arm on that train.” Shadow informed Jewelry before continuing to follow her movement pattern. The earth pony following behind.
