Dan is a very angry pony.
He's kept to himself most of his life, only making friends in special circumstances. Most ponies that he befriends either mistreat him or leave him, with little variation. Zolt is the first pony to approach him on even marginally polite grounds, let alone to actively try to befriend him and introduce him to her friend group. He isn't remotely used to having friends that are seemingly this accepting of him, let alone enthusiastic to be around him.

This story takes place in my Tyran MLP AU, which takes place several thousand years after the show ends.
