Rarity's Story

*BEEP BEEP*

“Rainbow Dash! I told you so many times to stop that.”

This is one of the few times Rainbows mother had been this firm. Immediately, Rainbow sat back down in the middle backseat after getting up and repeatedly pressing on the honk thingy majiggy. Rainbow was in baggy shorts and t-shirt but underneath she wore a rainbow one piece swimsuit. Her mother, Windy Whistles, was taking both Rarity and Rainbow to Canterlot City Waterpark. It was around thirty degrees celsius and everyone was cranky due to the heat, including Rainbow and her mother.

“I’m sorry, pumpkin.” Windys tone took a gentle turn as she turned around back in her car seat. “Mummy’s just really miffed due to the weather.” Windy had a habit of baby talking Rainbow Dash, ignoring the fact that she’s literally thirteen now. She (sometimes) doesn’t complain since it usually gets her out of trouble anyway.

“Muuuuuuuuum! I’m in the eighth grade, don’t talk to me like that.” She pouted. Windy reached her arm through to gently pinch her cheeks but Rainbow just avoided her like the plague.

“One day when you’re old enough to get married and have kids,” Rainbow recoiled in disgust at hearing the word ‘married’. “you’re gonna start wishing for your mother back.” Windy guilt tripped, it never worked.

“Yeah, yeah, mum, but Rarity's taking so looooooong.” She groaned. She stared out the window on her left side once more and sure enough, she still wasn’t there. “Probably working on her make-up and tryna look pretty for the boys," Rainbow thought. Rainbow was just about to reach for the honk button until a familiar voice called out from outside.

“I’m here! I’m here!” Rarity yelled, walking towards the car. She was in a (slightly transparent) sundress and she was supposedly wearing a frilly two piece swimsuit (with the bottoms being short shorts) underneath. She sat on the left hand side of the car. “Sorry I took too long, I was just finishing up with curling my hair.”

“Thought so,” Rainbow thought, then it hit her. “Wait… why're you curling your hair if it’s just gonna get wet?”

Rarity sputtered some unintelligible words before replying. “You don’t expect me to actually go in the water, do you?” Rarity asked, flabbergasted.

“Uhm, yes!? It’s a waterpark.” Rainbow slapped her forehead and groaned. Windy was seen talking to Cookie Crumbles, Raritys’ mother, through the window. Alas, they bid their farewells and Windy turned to the girls in the back.

“Are you girls ready to head off?” Windy cheerfully asked.

“Heck yeah!” Rainbow answered back enthusiastically, punching the air above her, Rarity gave a graceful nod though one could tell she barely kept her excitement. Windy starts up the car and drives off. After a thirty minute drive (due to traffic) of Rarity and Rainbow watching ‘try not to laugh’ videos on youtube (Rainbow laughed at every single one, even the ones that weren't funny), they finally made it at Canterlot Waterpark.

Rainbow was over the moon and barely helped set up (Rarity did). Once everything was set, they were set off for an awesome time at the waterpark, or was it…

Everything felt fine for Rarity, she had her legs dipped in the pool water (she doesn’t have her sundress on anymore, Rainbow and all the other kids were splashing about in the water, almost getting the water on Raritys’ beautiful hair and Windy was just beside her if she needed anything, everything should be alright, right?

Suddenly she felt something, and it wasn’t anything she’d ever felt before. She obviously didn’t like it.

She turned to Windy. “I’m going to use the bathroom.” She just said before walking off.

“Be careful!” Windy yelled from where she was sitting. “And don’t talk to strangers!”

Rarity acknowledged her by turning around and waving a little before turning back ‘round and making her way to the powder room. On the way, she swore she felt something drip from her privates, yup, she was sure she was dying.

She finally made it to the restroom and raced to one of the cubicles. She didn’t even need to use the toilet but just wanted to check what was happening down there. She sat on the toilet seat (after wiping it down with tons of tissue) and pulled down her swimming shorts, then her underwear (yes, underwear under swimsuits) only to discover a pool of blood (it actually wasn’t a lot of blood, it was actually just a speck of it, barely).

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!”

The horrified and undignified scream that echoed through the bathroom gathered the attention of the ladies nearby, one of them coming to Rarity’s aid, knocking on the cubicle.

“Are you okay in there dear?” The woman said through the door, putting her ear against it, awaiting Raritys’ response. Rarity was so close to passing out right then and there and was barely breathing, she couldn’t come up with anything to say. She felt a lump in her throat, that lump now turning to the size of a tennis ball and with every nerve wracking second, getting bigger. She couldn’t hold it any longer, she burst into tears. The lady knocked again. “Are you locked inside, sweetie? Do you need any help?” The woman kept asking questions, she was not gonna leave Rarity until everything was sorted out. Her voice was gentle, warm and sounded concerned, it gave Rarity a sense of reassurance, and so she decided to finally speak out.

“I’m bleeding!” Rarity exclaimed, there was fear in her voice. “I’m dying!” She continued her ugly crying, actually, everything about this was ugly.

“Oh, sweetie…” The lady started. “Here, come out of there, I’ll help you.”

“*sniff* Okay…” She gently and slowly twisted the door lock and there in front of her was a tall woman. Ebony skin and dirty blue hair (the hair is ‘dirty blue’, it’s not actually dirty). She had lots of tattoos across her arms and legs and she was also crouching down to Rarity’s level. Raritys’ face was streaked with mascara dried tears with overlapping RUNNING tears, she looked a mess. Normally she would care about what she looked like, but all she cared about right now was signing off her will and fortunes to all her friends and loved ones.

On the other hand, the tall woman thought that Rarity would turn out to be a much younger girl, probably one around the grades five to six, due to her high-pitched shriek. Still, she kept her gentle tone.

“Okay, what’s your name and how old are you?” She asked, putting a hand on her shoulder.

Rarity started to face down in embarrassment with her now messed up hair covering some of her face. She pulled the stray strands of hair behind her ear (kinda like how Fluttershy does it), and looked up again. She gathered up all the courage to speak.

“M-my name is Rarity and I’m thirteen..” She meekly answered, which was unlike her. “Why do you want to know my a-age?” She asked, still quietly sniffing.

“Okay Rarity. My name is Chrysalis but my friends call me Chrissy.” She said, not responding to the question, yet. “The reason I asked for your age was because this is normal, you’re not dying.” The woman, Chrysalis handled it really nicely though she was confused on why Rarity hadn’t had the talk prior.

Rarity was confused when it suddenly hit her. It was her period, how could she not even realise?! Blood rushed to her face when she realised that fact and she awkwardly turned her head away from the older woman. She could recall the day Applejack got her period, pretty sure three of the girls had gotten it in the sixth grade, though they were all very cryptic about it.

“Oh, yeah.” Was all Rarity mumbled before Chrysalis put her other hand into her pocket, retrieving some tissues and started gently wiping away some of Raritys’ tears. After doing so, she threw the tissue in the bin (literally), which was basically far from her and began to dig into her purse, pulling out a pad. She ripped open the plastic surrounding and once again threw it in the bin, I mean seriously, this girl should be a professional basketball player!

“Do you know how to put it on?” Rarity shook her head. “Okay. So you use these wings, right?” She pointed to the wings on each side of the pad, Rarity looked on. “With those wings, you peel off the plastic on them, including the side under the pad and stick it onto your underwear.” She demonstrated (I suck at explaining stuff like this lolsies).

Rarity understood and she walked back inside the cubicle, carrying the pad that Chrysalis had handed to her. It probably was that hard to mess up, right? I mean, Rarity is a quick learner. She’d watch videos on how to do different stitches on fabric like once and she would be able to master them all without having to watch them twice, she could get through this.

“I’ll be out here if you need anything.” Chrysalis called out from behind the cubicle door. “Don’t be afraid to ask for help.”

Meanwhile, Windy was getting kinda worried. Rarity had gone to the restrooms for quite some time now and she was slightly scared something might’ve happened to her. Rainbow Dash had kind of forgotten Rarity was here at the waterpark with her, she was too preoccupied playing ball with other kids and splashing water on all the adults. Dash noticed the concerned look on her mothers face and that's when it clicked that she hadn’t heard any endless annoying whining and complaining comments and sounds for what seemed to be about fifteen minutes.

Windy, fearing for the worst, was just about to make her way to the bathroom to make sure Rarity was alright when all of a sudden she sees Rarity walk out with a random ass woman, Chrysalis. Rarity and Windy’s eyes finally make contact and Rarity walks over towards her.

“Are you alright? You were gone for quite some time!” Windy questioned, checking Rarity for any sort of bruises, in a maternal sort of way.

“I’m alright now, all thanks to Chrysalis!” Rarity moved out of the way and went over towards Rainbow Dash.

“Did something happen to her? Did she get sick?” Windy asked, she was so confused.

“Relax, Rarity just got her first period.” Chrysalis dropped the bomb. Windy was surprised, I mean, it was inevitable after all, she just didn’t know anything like that was gonna happen today, of all the days too. Still, this was a day to celebrate Rarity on her path to womanhood. She turned her attention back to the woman in front of her.

“Chrysalis, right? Thanks so much for being there for her, at first I assumed the worst.” She turned to look at Rarity who was sitting in the same spot prior to all of this. “Can’t imagine what she’s going through right now.”

She turned around to thank Chrysalis once more but she suddenly vanished from the face of earth. “Strange woman…” Windy muttered to herself. She walked over back to where she was sitting.

Rainbow sat beside Rarity. “Soooo, what happened there? Didya pee yourself or something?”

Rarity glared at Rainbow before speaking up. “I got my period.” She proudly bragged. Rainbow was surprised and disappointed, it really was gonna be her to get her period last. Despite her disappointment, she was happy for Rarity.

“So that means, you’re like.. A woman now!!?” She yelled out loud, catching the attention of some of the other swimmers.

“Shshshsh!” Rarity shushed. “But yes, I’m a woman now.” She proudly admitted.

“That’s so awesome!” Rainbow quietly exclaimed with a cheerful expression.

“Girls! Get ready to leave, we’ll be heading back home soon!” Windy suddenly mentioned. It was evening and the weather was starting to cool off, probably best if they left now, plus the people at the waterpark were leaving with every new second.

They packed everything up, (Rainbow Dash actually helped this time) and went off to the changing rooms to replace their wet swimsuits (or in Rarity's case, dry) with casual clothing.

In the car, Windy was talking about things Rarity should be aware of during her menstrual cycle, even specifically telling her not to swim with a pad on, which is extremely unlikely for Rarity to do, but… just in case.

After the drive to Rarity's house (to drop her off) and her and Rainbow bidding their goodbyes, Windy and Rarity had a chat with Cookie, on her porch.

“Hey Cookie, today was a blast and the girls had tons of fun, als-” Windy started, not long though since Rarity couldn’t handle her excitement and cut her off.

“I’m a woman now!” She exclaimed happily before skipping happily towards her room, Pinkie Pie style. Cookie knew exactly what she meant.

She turned back to Windy and asked, already knowing the answer; “She got her period?!” She asked, smiling.

“Yes! But don’t worry, we’ve got all sorted out over there, and I already gave her a lil talk about it.” Windy answered back, giving her closure.

“My baby girl is growing up so fast… Seems like yesterday she was-” Cookie began to reminisce, before being cut off by her daughter who was still inside the house.

“Mother! Please?” Rarity deliberately interrupted. “You’re acting like I’m going off to college.” Sounds like the mood swings if you asked me…

Cookie sighed. To her, it wouldn’t be long till Rarity leaves for college, that thought alone was making her a little emotional.

It was dark now and Windy just finished up her short convo with Rarity’s mother and was heading off towards her car to head home.

This sure had been an eventful day for Rarity.

Author's Note

I know when I wrote this I made Rarity's personality out to be like someone during the ages 10-12, but it just happened and I went along with it:ajsleepy:

and I also know that the start shifts from Rainbow Dash to Rarity but that was just cause I wanted to show both sides, but I couldn't. So at first it basically sounded this was Rainbows period story, sorry for thattt

anywho this took like 3 days due to procastination lolsiesssss
