Chapters Her heart became ridden with jealousy, her soul became tainted, the blackness of the night, filled the princess to the brink. Her sister was weary of her younger sister’s feelings but had no control over how she felt. She had one option and that was to rid Luna for 1000 years locked away in her own duty. The raise of the moon became a symbol of banishment and pain.
Although the journey followed Princess Celestia, the real story was Luna's feelings, these feelings were never mentioned for ponies across the valley forgot about the lost princess. Luna sat on the moon and cried during the night the pain she felt became hurtful. A princess with a tainted heart, that was supposedly "evil" she still felt Luna’s beat each time; it skipped her homesick and wishes seem to fade with time the evil digested the princess but left a sliver of good. Celestia was the good and Luna was the bad, but through Celestia's sun rays, she was truly to blame. A princess who became jealous of her sun was not at fault but only feelings she wasn't able to say, her life became unhappy, wasted on the dark and so the evil lost princess she became.
Princess celestia didn't forget her younger sister, she embraced the moons glow as her own and continued the duties that she must take on board, Luna still stuck in the moon relished the feeling of worth, only one didn't forget her the one she loved most. "Oh Celestia whatever did I do? All my jealous needs of attention banished me from you" she sang to the stars hoping her voice would be heard. A forgotten princess and unheard words. No one could help the Princess.
With each passing day, the princess became tainted, the longer she stayed in the dwelling of the moon the more jealous she became, but none other than Celestia knew what’s to happen. She prepared for the future of Luna’s return.
Celestia sang a song a lullaby for a princess lost in the stars but this song was unknown. She was blinded by her glory and her duties to the day; she didn't understand the sadness Luna portrayed. She saw the pain her sister was in but by then it was too late. To banish one's sister was difficult to take on her duties were tough the constant memories of Luna, Celestia finally gave up. She banished her away and so she became the mare in the moon and in 1000 years she will make eternal darkness loom.
Nightmare Moon cackled a hearty laugh she looked down upon the sleeping world, the one that shunned her moon "Oh my little ponies, so peaceful and in sleep. One day you will wake to find the sun will never peek, the darkness will consume the whole entire land, I will be back soon and I will get my due." Her feelings were so dark, what happened to this mare? She was so kind and graceful. Why did jealousy step a foot? Why did it get involved? The harshness of reality and the pride that slowly dips, with every casting shadow the good side stumbles and trips.
The shattered heart that beats in Princess Celestia's chest was overwhelming for her. she slipped up on her duties making silly mistakes, all she could think of was Luna's heart being erased. But though she couldn't do anything, she wished every night for her to wake up with Luna by her side. Even though that won't happen, she kept her spirits high; she knew if she was patient time would come quicker, even though her broken heart was slowly getting weaker. The turn of events slowly made her ill, whilst Nightmare moon sat in the moon picture perfect still.
"Oh my Princess, you have become so weak, rid this curse of mine and I will take your throne and your castles keep, but if you shall refuse, my anger will renew oh my princess you are so ill will take your place and make the darkness consume" Night time was beautiful when anger wasn't known but now the princess is sick who shall take the thrown who will do the duties that the princess cannot do? Pain is so faint but can affect one greatly only they can feel it but people or ponies understand, but princess Celestia is too stubborn to ask for a hand.
Celestia began to blame herself, if she realised the pain her younger sister was in she wouldn't have to of been locked away, though she did what she thought was right she never thought the power of the evil that ventured throughout Luna would finally conceal the positive and turn it negative. "Why? Why did this happen? It was me who made you turn. If only I showed more love and cherish you, I wouldn't have had to make you go." Celestia sobbed till she finally slept till her moment of sun rising started. What would you do? If you were to be in Celestia's hooves, would you of done the same or differently?
So now a new mare awakes from the moon to bring chaos and anarchy to the land, and Celestia is too weak from guilt to try and see things from her side, but would there be a happy ending? Or would it be heart wrenching, stomach churning sad?
Eternal
With the whole world beginning to fall, with the destruction of the Princess' heart, ponies noticed that this must be because of the mare in the moon being such a massive part of the kingdom. The peaceful bond between sun and moon was broken and the Elements of harmony were in slumber after Celestia used some of their power to banish Luna to the moon.
In a few months, Luna will return, the years of pain and jealousy that engulfed her gentle self will be set free. All this time, Celestia had been trying her best to make things perfect, but being sick of herself for what she had done brought chaos to the land, ponies started to worry about their princess' health. Back in Canterlot, a Unicorn pony known as Twilight discovers the myth of the mare in the moon. When the princess assigned her to making friends she was too focused on the return of an evil Luna that she didn't realise what Celestia wanted to accomplish.
The Elements of harmony represents an element of friendship and can presumably only work if wielded by one who possesses the corresponding trait, and only if all are used together, Celestia saw the power that Twilight held, and knew she could bring back the old Luna.
As the sun set at the summer sun celebration, Nightmare Moon returned for ponies expected Princess Celestia and thought this was a myth, Only Twilight knew of who she was. Nightmare moon started to sing as she returned to the land from a thousand years of being stuck on the moon “Finally, after a thousand years of been stuck in the moon I can finally get revenged" She turned to Canterlot Castle and glared at it with a sinister crooked smile, and laughed.
Nightmare moon, waited for the sun to finally set and jolted back onto her hind legs, when the hour had come "You shall all know of my night time glow, the diamond moon that shines that you all shunned, for it shall be living in an eternal lullaby, say goodnight to the sun for it's the last it sets. No dawn shall be coming tomorrow for you shall live in eternal Darkness"
Celestia tried looking for the Elements of harmony that she stored away to protect their power, but she’s been so sick she hadn't had the power to keep them hidden, She used the power she had left to attempt to find them she found one and it had been split into too, the Elements of harmony were useless without the full power. Celestia collapsed to the ground, her last bit of strength was in the power she used to locate the artefacts.
Nightmare moon tormented the ponies in the darkness that loomed over head, she galloped to Canterlot castle "Oh my what a dusty wreck, Celestia normally kept this spic and span, Who cares about that old mare? For I am the new ruler"
"Oh sister what happened to you?" she stood up and used her power to bring her back to good health. Before she could Celestia opened her eyes slightly "Luna...is that really you? Have you returned to your older self?" Tears flowed down her pale cheeks; she couldn't move the pain and exhaustion finally took control of her. "Celestia don't you worry I'm back now, I'm going to try and help” A mist appeared from the top of her horn, she clenched her jaw together then a ray of light came from her, the power of love healed her sister back to 100% health. Celestia stood gracefully up and wrapped her sister in her hooves, "thank you my dear, you saved my life" Luna started to cry with sorrow "I'm so sorry sister, I shall never do that ever again" she wept. Celestia started to stroke her mane and whispered "In that case can you help me lower the moon?" she smiled Luna jumped to her hooves and ran to the balcony that viewed the land of Equestria "Of course I will"
Luna has never experienced that evil again. This truly shows no matter how much you seem to hate someone when they are in need your love for them shows and you start to worry. Friendship and kindness does a lot, Jealousy and evil get you nowhere in life. So keep your chin up and keep your hooves on the ground, and be proud and love yourself for who you are.
For the night was almost over the moons light became dim, another sun arose without Luna. Celestia stood and stared up into the sky, the pain of a Luna less night. The pain was getting to her. She began to question the choice she made. Luna may have been able to change but had the evil progressed into her loveable nurturing heart. Celestia looked down and watched the shadows of clouds roll by. She missed her little sister, the pain didn't sink in. At night she cried but kept it to herself, no pony noticed, the hurt that lay in her mind, the tears that had been shed.
Luna watched that night, her sisters pain showing, it was taking effect, the choice she made unknowingly was the worse one to make, considering the grief you would be in. "Princess..........PRINCESS.....can you hear my words? I pray you not to shed tears for me, be happy and true...I will always look out for danger to protect you" These words are what Luna would carry on saying to ease her mind and hope her sister hears. When she spoke these words; Celestia looked up and stared with a tilted head, she heard Luna's wish, her tears came to a halt and the frown went away "Luna…LUNA, my love is that the one I hear calling out my name?" "Yes it is elder sister, I love you never forget, my good heart still lies in my chest for I shall never truly stay I promise in 1000 years I will change my ways." Celestia smiled and looked down on Equestria for she imagined Luna's voice call. She walked slowly back into the castle, were as Luna would stay on the moon hoping her prayer to her sister was heard.
Luna closed her eyes and raised her head up tear's poured and ran down her delicate cheeks, like light rain on a spring morning which makes the grass dewy. She slowly opened them and stared at the sun rising higher into the sky, and then the moon faded out of sight, until the end of the day. The fear of the lonely dug further and further, and one night when the moon had risen, Luna's cast was gone, for she had fell asleep, the pain the hurt and the jealousy took over her heart completely. She was a sleeping mare, one that slept in the moon. There was no going back; the one thing that can stop the chaos of her reign was the Elements of Harmony.
Celestia looked upon a picture hanging in her chamber; it was of Luna and her at the royal ball when things were sweet and evil free. "Why couldn't you of seen the many who loved your night? Why didn't you understand the bitterness was not needed? For yours was not the lesser light" She sighed and laid her tired head, the love of the once loyal sister, was the love of now an evil princess, for the rest of the years to come, the loyal sister would now be pronounced dead.
