Smolder sighed softly as she relaxed in a large vat of lava. Head tilted back with a grin formed across her snout, exhaling a long stream of white smoke from her nostrils. The moment was perfect as the sound of nature calmed her soul, and nature's heat massaged the knots out of her muscles. Spike floated lazily on his backside in the vat. Green eyes gazed towards the top of the freshly erupted volcano, watching fresh magma trickle down the tip. He lifted his head towards his dragoness companion, with a look of boredom from the mellow vibes. “Are we just going to soak?” Spike snorted as the dragoness just giggled. “It's called relaxing, doofus. Maybe check it out?” Smolder let another sigh escape her lips, eyes closed to the world around her. Spike groaned, allowing himself to sink beneath the lava, bubbles popping on the surface. Smolder's snout formed into a pout, watching the bubbles annoyingly pop in front of her. With a groan, she agreed to something more adventurous, the drake swiftly rising back to the surface with a childish grin. “Awesome, I want to Lava Surf down the South side!” Spike shot out of the vat like an arrow, bouncing towards a flight of brimstone steps leading to the summit. “Yeah, whatever.” Smolder stepped out of her little vat of paradise delicately, giving a slow stretch, feeling her back and wings pop. Without as much glee as Spike, she shuffled up the steps at her own pace. She loved these lava plumes. It was great to just find a place to relax and take long naps. She hoped sharing this place with Spike, that she might gain a napping buddy. Yet he yearned for the excitement of the mountain. From lava surfing, magma slides, and the high jump into the heated center. Spike had been running the lazy dragoness all over the mountain. Both dragons soon at the South Side of the volcano, a large fiery plume of lava splashing down the mountain at a vastly faster speed than the others. Spike quickly found a smooth flat rock growing out of the lip of the volcano, snapping it off from the ground with ease. Smolder taking her time to find her board, eyes glancing towards the speedy plume uneasily. “Uhh, that plume seems kinda gnar.” Smolder gently broke off her board from the lip. “I know it's amazing, right!?” Spike chuckled, rushing towards the start of the plume. Smolder let a frown slowly creep across her narrow snout. “Not really, how about we enjoy a nice ride down the east?” She pointed to a far more modest plume across the way. Spike watched a group of toddler dragons giggle as they were dragging a large rock disc to the baby plume to drift down. He flashed his fangs proudly and dug his board into the edge of the blazingly hot plume. With a puff of his chest, he kicked the board down, ready for the ride of his life. “C'mon Spike, just admit that this particular plume looks insane.” Smolder huffed as her arms crossed over her chest. “Insane? Yeah! And I'm not scared. I'm ready to charge down, find a gnarly wave of magma, and then I'm going…” The drake shot off down the plume like a bolt of lightning as soon as his board barely touched the lava. Smolder gasped shocked watching her friend fire off down the mountain insanely fast. His voice screamed in terror as he was quickly fading out of view. Grabbing her board, she barely lifted higher into the sky, wings burned as she flung the board downward. Diving in after it as her claws dug into the stone surface. She felt the speed against her wings as she steadied herself on the board, swerving and splashing side to side on the waves. Bending her knees, she picked up speed to match Spike, both dragons side by side. “Okay, maybe the plume is a little fast!” Spike lifted one claw off the board spinning around like a miniature cyclone in place, Smolder grabbing his shoulder and pushing him down onto the board. “Claws on the board and VENTS!” She screamed as dozens of volcanic vents were erupting off powerful blasts of steam ahead of them. Spike screamed as he bucked his board backward, letting it lift high. Dodging the first few vents before hitting an exceptionally large vent like a ramp. Spike launched off his board as he lunged forward wildly. Smolder concentrated on the plume as she dodged vent after vent barely. Each powerful blast caused her board to nearly tip over. Searing splashes of lava hitting her eyes as she squinted in pain. “Spike where are…” Smolder screamed throughout the steam minefield worried, before the drake landed directly onto her shoulders like an oversized ham. “You're right it's too gnar!” Spike hugged onto the poor dragoness tight, his claws covering her eyes tight as she swerved uncontrollably. “I need my eyes, you jackass!” Smolder screamed as they flung up the side of a massive lava wave blindly, the board scratching across a brimstone wall floating down the plume. Sparks fired off in all directions, Smolder screaming in the dark as they flung off into an extremely tight hole inside a corroded boulder. Pressure built around them both as they did constant barrel rolls inside. Firing out the other end barely with a wet pop, the board ricocheted like a pinball off multiple pillars of rocks sounding like thunder. Both dragons flung off the board, and belly flopped onto the shared lava pool of all the plumes at the bottom. Their board exploded into a thousand pieces on the edge of the pool. The raft of toddlers lazily exited off the east plume full of giggles and smiles. “Maybe…we should just relax.” Spike lifted his head up from the lava, one fang out front popping out. Smolder just gurgled as she sunk beneath the lava, leaving only annoyed bubbles behind.
