Machine ID: C1
Location: Approaching Tartarus
Current Time: 20 : 04 : 13
Current Objective: Find a weapon
Deep underground, an Equestrian laboratory lay completely abandoned. The ancient subterranean base remained powered, with the faint hum of machinery filling the air. The silence was abruptly broken when a blue machine crashed into the ground, shaking the entire facility. It had the appearance of an equine, with small antennae resembling the ears of a changeling, this was C1.
C1 began galloping toward a ventilation shaft, which was blocked by wooden debris. With a powerful strike from its front hoof, it shattered the obstruction. In the distance lay an energy revolver, ready for use when the time came. That time had come.
C1's mechanical horn glowed, enveloping the revolver in a yellowish aura, similar to the glow of its single golden eye. The gun lifted from the ground, floating beside the machine as it momentarily inspected it. The weapon had a charge function, allowing it to fire a powerful projectile.
A deafening screech filled the room. Suddenly, small creatures with a pony-like shape, but lacking front legs, emerged from a corridor. Their mouths were wide, lined with rows of sharp teeth. C1 aimed and fired, blasting the head off one of the creatures. As they rushed forward, C1 deployed its mechanical wings, leaping over the legless ponies. Its scanners analyzed the creatures and provided a description:
Filth
Class: Lesser Husk
Forgotten and insignificant souls transform into Filth. Due to their lack of power, they are incapable of forming a complete body, let alone coherent thoughts.
Evaluation: No threat
C1 twisted in the air before slamming into the ground, striking it with its front hooves. The resulting shockwave lifted the Filth into the air, causing them to crash down violently. The disruption gave C1 enough time to charge a shot with its revolver and fire at one of the husks. The energy blast detonated on impact, causing the husks to explode, drenching C1 in blood.
Blood detected. Initiating love extraction.
C1's battery recharged rapidly. But it wasn’t enough. It was never enough. More blood was needed. And Tartarus provided an ocean of it. All it had to do was go deeper.
C1 galloped through the laboratory, encountering more Filth that posed no challenge. However, upon entering a large room, its sensors detected a surge of energy. A flash of light revealed two unicorn-like ponies. Spheres of energy formed at the tips of their horns and were launched at the machine. The first struck, causing minor damage, while the second missed entirely. C1 analyzed the new foes:
Stray
Class: Lesser Husk
Similar to Filth, these husks were nothing before death, but their willpower allowed them to form a body, though one without skin or mane. They remain clumsy, but their instincts enable them to channel Tartarus' energy and hurl it at their prey.
Evaluation: Low threat. Projectiles can be deflected.
The Strays charged their attacks once more, launching them at C1. In response, the machine turned and delivered a powerful back kick to the infernal energy, deflecting the projectiles back toward their casters. The Strays stood frozen, watching in horror as their own attacks obliterated them in an explosion of blood and entrails.
C1 continued galloping, passing through a doorway into an area with a glass bridge stretching over a turbine that supplied fresh air to the base. Why was the bridge made of glass?
A large group of Filth appeared at the far end, rushing toward C1. The revolver wouldn’t be enough to stop them all. Instead, C1 aimed at the floor, shattering the glass. The husks plummeted into the abyss below, screaming in terror as the turbine drew closer.
C1 leaped over the gap and pressed onward toward its objective. Beyond the next door lay a long corridor, where two Filth were devouring a Stray. Noticing C1, they immediately rushed toward it. The response was instant, two precise shots to the head ended them before they could get close.
It could be said that much of the journey went like this, until C1 reached an elevator shaft. Jumping inside, it used its metallic hooves to grip the walls, descending deeper into the laboratory.
