After what happened with the fruit bats, Twilight kept Fluttershy under observation to ensure no lingering effects. At first, everything seemed normal with her usually shy friend, but as the weeks passed, she began to notice a gradual change.
At first, it was subtle: her posture shifted from slouched and insecure to one that radiated confidence. She no longer hid behind her hair as she used to. Then came her voice: what was once a barely audible whisper now sounded clear and firm. Of course, she maintained a gentle tone with her friends and animals, but with strangers, her demeanor had become polite yet distant and sharp.
Her friends interpreted it as simple personal growth, but something about this change unsettled Twilight. Maybe it was the reddish tint that sometimes seemed to color her turquoise eyes, or the way her fangs had slightly lengthened. Perhaps it was the texture of her fur, now darker and coarser. The change had been so gradual that no one else seemed to notice... but she did.
Until one night, Twilight decided to do something about it.
—Hey, Spike, have you noticed anything different about Fluttershy lately? -- she asked cautiously.
–Of course! I’d be a fool not to notice how confident she is now,-- the little dragon responded enthusiastically. –Last week, I was helping her with her shopping when a stallion approached and tried to flirt with her. You should have seen her, Twilight! He was being rude, and she made it clear who was in charge. She almost seemed like Rarity… although, of course, no one is better than Rarity. --
Twilight rolled her eyes at Spike's last comment and his obvious crush on their friend. However, that conversation only reinforced her suspicions. From then on, she began observing Fluttershy more closely, noting every strange detail in a notebook. What had started as a simple concern was now turning into an investigation.
One day, while visiting Applejack to help with Sweet Apple Acres' accounting, she decided to ask her opinion on Fluttershy's change.
–Hey, AJ, have you noticed anything different about Fluttershy lately? —she tried to sound casual.
-Well, of course, Twilight! And let me tell you, I’m as happy as a worm in fresh dirt for her,- Applejack responded enthusiastically. -I’ve never seen her radiate so much confidence before. I think she finally found her voice, and boy, did she need it. I’m mighty proud of her.-
Applejack smiled with genuine pride, but Twilight couldn't help feeling even more uneasy. No one else seemed to see what she saw.
Over the following week, she decided to investigate further and started asking their closest friends what they thought about Fluttershy. To her frustration, they all gave the same response: yes, she had changed, but in a good way.
When she spoke with Rainbow Dash, the pegasus simply shrugged and grinned.
-Of course, she’s changed!- she exclaimed proudly. -She’s faster and more agile than ever. The other day, we flew together, and guess what? She almost beat me in a race! And not just that, she moves with incredible precision, like she suddenly has feline reflexes or something.-
Twilight frowned. Fluttershy had never been particularly fast in the air, let alone skilled in complex maneuvers.
-Doesn’t that seem... strange to you?- she asked cautiously.
Rainbow Dash laughed.
--Strange? Not at all! She’s probably been training in secret, and honestly, I think it’s amazing. It was about time she let loose more.- Twilight noted this in her notebook with a thoughtful expression.
Later, she asked Rarity, hoping for a different answer.
-Oh, darling, Fluttershy has been simply radiant lately,- said the unicorn while sewing a dress. -She has gained a confidence that suits her wonderfully.-
-Have you noticed anything... strange about her?- Twilight insisted. Rarity put a hand to her chin, pondering the question.
-Well... now that you mention it, I have caught her staring at me a few times...- she said thoughtfully. -Staring at you?-
Rarity shrugged with a carefree smile. -But she was probably just distracted! Oh, maybe she’s planning to give me a compliment and is too shy to say it!-
Twilight wasn’t convinced, but since Rarity didn’t seem concerned, she simply took note and continued her investigation. The only one who seemed to notice something more unusual was Pinkie Pie. She found her at Sugarcube Corner, energetically stirring a batter. -Pinkie, I need to ask you something!- Twilight said as she approached.
-Ask whatever you want, my brilliant and curious friend!- Pinkie responded with a big smile.
-Have you noticed anything... strange about Fluttershy lately?- Pinkie stopped stirring the mixture for a moment and put on a thoughtful expression. -Hmm... well, now that you mention it, she seems to be more sensitive to noises. Once, I accidentally dropped a tray of cookies, and she almost jumped to the ceiling! It was super funny!-
-More sensitive to noise?- Twilight quickly wrote in her notebook.
-Yep! And she’s also been eating a ton of apple-flavored things lately. Super weird, because she never liked them that much before!- Twilight lifted her gaze. -Apple-flavored desserts?-
-Yup! Pies, cakes, strudel, cookies, anything with apples. Maybe she has cravings!- The alicorn frowned. -That’s... unusual.-Pinkie shrugged and kept stirring the mixture with her usual boundless energy, but Twilight couldn’t ignore the patterns forming. He decided to go to Fluttershy's cabin to ask her directly about the cause.
When she knocked on the door she was greeted with an unexpected surprise, standing at the door was Fluttershy wearing a different style. Fluttershy’s characteristic long, silky mane had been replaced by a shorter, messier cut, with strands naturally falling over her face. It wasn’t a bad style, but definitely not the kind of change Twilight would expect from Fluttershy, who had always been reserved about her appearance.
-Oh, hello, Twilight,- the pegasus greeted with a calm smile, but her eyes radiated an intensity that made Twilight's skin prickle. -What a surprise to see you.-
Twilight took a second to react, surprised by her friend's new appearance and the strange energy emanating from her. -Uh... I was just passing by and decided to say hi.-
She entered the cottage, immediately feeling a change in the atmosphere. The light was dimmer, the curtains barely open, allowing for a dense and sensual illumination. The animals, usually playful, were motionless, their eyes gleaming in the shadows as if observing something invisible.
Fluttershy moved with a distinct elegance, feline, as she glided toward the kitchen.
-Would you like some tea?- she asked, her voice husky and silky as she entered with a teapot and two cups. She took a seat across from Twilight, her gaze burning with something indecipherable. The unicorn nodded, taking one of the cups with clumsy fingers.
-Your hair...- Twilight commented, her voice barely a whisper. Fluttershy ran a hand through her mane, letting her fingers graze her skin with deliberate slowness. -Oh, yes. I felt it was time for a change. It’s more practical this way... and more liberating. Don’t you think?- Twilight swallowed hard. Something was definitely different.
And she was going to find out what.
—Well, yes, but... I didn't think you liked such drastic changes.-- Fluttershy smiled, her lips curving with a mischievous air. —I guess I've learned to enjoy the unexpected.---
Twilight felt a shiver run down her spine. She cleared her throat and looked away, trying to regain her composure. —Fluttershy, have you noticed any changes in yourself since the fruit bat incident at Sweet Apple Acres?---
The pegasus paused for a moment, and Twilight noticed how her lips barely curved. Then she took a sip of her tea, her movements exasperatingly slow.
—Mmm... Not much. Although, lately... I feel different. As if I had finally found myself.--- Twilight frowned, her heart pounding. —Nothing else... strange? No changes too remarkable?--- Fluttershy let out a small laugh, her tongue flicking briefly over her lower lip as she tilted her head.
—Well, loud noises bother me a bit more... And my appetite has changed.--- Twilight shifted in her seat, feeling that the pegasus was too close, her voice a caress on her skin. —Appetite?---
Fluttershy narrowed her eyes playfully, leaning in just enough for Twilight to feel her warm breath against her ear. —I'm drawn to fruits, especially apples,—she murmured, savoring the word with a provocative slowness. ---
Twilight swallowed hard, feeling a shiver run down her spine. —It seems there are still traces of the spell,—she muttered, trying to cling to rationality.--- Fluttershy smiled, her fangs just barely peeking out from between her lips. —Is that bad?--
Twilight felt the air thicken between them, her eyes captured by Fluttershy's, now glowing with a deep red hue. —I just want to run some tests... make sure you're okay.--- Fluttershy chuckled lowly, resting a hand on Twilight's thigh, her wings barely brushing against her side.
—Oh, Twilight, always so worried... —she whispered. —You don't have to worry. I feel better than ever.--- Twilight's heart pounded. —Ah, are you sure?--- Fluttershy tilted her head, her fangs gleaming under the dim light.
—Of course I am,—she murmured, her tone a whisper filled with insinuation.—But let's stop talking about me. I've noticed that you've changed too, Twilight. Twilight felt a shiver. Her breathing was unsteady. —E-eh... What do you mean?---
Fluttershy smiled, sliding closer until only a few centimeters separated them. —Oh, Twilight... despite being so smart, sometimes you're very dense.--- The pegasus spread her wings, her body pressing slightly against Twilight's.
—Relax,—she whispered, her warm breath against her neck.—There's no reason to be defensive. We're friends, aren't we? The darkness in the room seemed to deepen. Fluttershy's eyes glowed like embers, the shadow of her wings wrapping Twilight in an intoxicating, dangerous sensation.
—Fluttershy... —Twilight whispered, her voice trembling, caught between fear and a strange fascination. Fluttershy licked her lips, her smile full of dark promises. —There's no point in hiding it anymore, is there?--- Her form began to change hypnotically. Her wings took on the membranous structure of a bat, her ears elongated, her fur and mane darkened, lengthening slightly in the process, and her eyes took on a deep, glowing red. Now Twilight understood why she had cut her hair.
Fluttershy's eyes flashed with a hypnotic glow as she slowly approached, firmly gripping Twilight's waist and pulling her into an oppressive embrace. She leaned in to her ear, her voice a velvety murmur filled with danger. —This is who I really am, Twilight.--- Her tongue, now elongated, slowly traced Twilight's cheek, who, still in shock, shuddered under her touch. A chill ran down her spine as she tried to pull away, but the grip on her waist tightened, denying any escape.
The danger in her gaze was unmistakable, but so was the intensity with which she looked at her. Twilight knew she had crossed a threshold from which there might be no return. Panic ignited in her chest. Her logical mind tried to find a rational explanation for what was happening, but the primal instinct of survival screamed for her to run. With a trembling effort, she placed her hands on Fluttershy's chest, trying to push her away.
—Fluttershy, please...—Her voice was barely a whisper, broken by a mixture of fear and adrenaline. Fluttershy tilted her head, watching her with fascination. —Why are you trembling, Twilight?—Her tone was sweet but edged with something sharper.—Are you afraid of me?— Twilight took a deep breath, trying to steady her racing heart. —This isn't... this isn't you. Something is happening. We can... we can fix it.—
The pegasus let out a low, grave chuckle, bringing her lips closer to Twilight's ear. —What if I don't want to fix it?— Twilight felt her back press against the wall. She was trapped. But inside her, a spark of determination began to burn. She couldn't stay still, couldn't allow fear to paralyze her. She closed her eyes for a moment, focusing on her magic. A purple glow shimmered in her hands as she tried to form a force field between them, a thin barrier but strong enough to push Fluttershy slightly back.
Fluttershy observed her with surprise, but instead of being angry, she smiled with amusement. —Interesting... it seems you still have some fight left in you.— Twilight took a deep breath and, with an almost imperceptible tremor, lifted her gaze firmly. —I won't let this control you, Fluttershy. I won't let you get lost in this.— The pegasus let out another low, grave chuckle, bringing her lips back to Twilight's ear.
—I find it adorable that you think this is controlling me,—she said mockingly, her predatory gaze locked onto Twilight. Without warning, she lunged at her with inhuman speed. Twilight barely had time to react, dodging Fluttershy's grasp and the precise attacks she launched. With each spell Twilight cast in defense, Fluttershy evaded them with chilling agility, increasing her speed until the pressure became unbearable.
Finally, the pegasus caught her, knocking her down with a fluid movement. Both fell heavily onto the cabin floor, sending dust flying around them. Twilight gasped from the impact, dazed, while Fluttershy remained over her, pinning her down with her weight. Twilight's eyes widened as she felt Fluttershy's claws tighten around her waist. Her breathing was erratic, a mixture of fear and something else unknown pulsing in her chest.
—You have no idea how long I've waited for this,—Fluttershy whispered, leaning in even closer. Before Twilight could respond, she felt Fluttershy's lips against hers in an intense, claiming kiss.
A shock of cold and heat left her paralyzed, her mind struggling to comprehend what was happening. Fluttershy's hands began to roam her body, from her hips to her breasts, while Twilight was still confused, not knowing how to react, she slipped in her hold, her mind becoming numb as Fluttershy did what she wanted with her body, while Fluttershy left wet kisses on her neck, leaving bites and hickeys in the process.
Her hands slid under her shirt making full contact with her sensitive skin, caressing her nipples that were already erect, moving away from her neck, to go to her chest beginning to lick it hungrily, sucking on them, and playing with them, while Twilight looked at her embarrassed, a blush adorning her features. —S-Stop, Fluttershy… —Twilight's voice was barely a whisper, fragile and uncertain, while her hands trembled as she tried to push her away. But the effort was useless.
A pair of reddish eyes caught her instantly, shining with a mix of sweetness and danger. —Do you really want me to stop, Twilight?— The question came wrapped in deceptive softness, as if the answer were a mere formality. Fluttershy's tongue continued its slow, deliberate path over her skin, warm and demanding, waiting for a response Twilight couldn’t give. A shiver ran through her, but she didn’t know if it was from the contact or from her friend’s tone—innocent and cruel at the same time.
Twilight pressed her lips together and looked away, searching for a breath, an escape. But before she could react, she felt a firm grip on her chin. —I asked you a question, Twilight. Fluttershy's tone changed. It was no longer a sweet whisper or a provocation disguised as tenderness. It was firm, demanding—an order impossible to ignore. Her eyes drilled into her with intensity, holding her in an abyss where excuses had no place.
Twilight swallowed hard. Her mind screamed that she needed to stop this, that she had to step back, but her body refused to move. —N-No… I don’t know… —Her voice broke on the last word, trembling, reflecting the confusion consuming her. She didn’t know what scared her more—the situation itself or the part of her that didn’t want it to end. —This could be perfection, or venom dripping in your mouth—
Her voice was barely a whisper, a breath of temptation that sent a shiver down Twilight’s spine. Her breath burned against her skin, and before she could react, she felt the soft brush of teeth catching the lobe of her ear. Twilight tensed. She wanted to pull away. She wanted to tell her to stop. But her body trembled under the touch, caught between desire and fear. —Girl, I know your desire —she whispered with amusement before placing a barely perceptible kiss on her neck.
Twilight held her breath, feeling hands tracing a slow path down her abdomen. The warmth of her touch became unbearably intimate, each brush igniting something she didn’t want to admit was there. —Oh, you’re such a bad, bad liar.— The air grew thick. Twilight felt her mind blur when a precise touch made her arch involuntarily. A gasp escaped her lips before she could stifle it, her pride shattered by that deep laugh resonating in her ear.
And then, as suddenly as it came, it was gone. Twilight collapsed onto the floor, disoriented, breathing heavily, her face burning. Her mind screamed that this wasn’t right, that she should hate what had just happened… but her body still trembled, still longed for the contact. —But I’ll be there when your reality drowns.—
The footsteps faded away, but Twilight could barely lift her gaze. Her thoughts were a whirlwind, her logic torn apart under the weight of something more primal, more terrifying. —You can pretend when you hear my voice, darling, it’s your choice not to fall in.— Their eyes met before the figure at the door turned away. Twilight felt a knot in her throat. There was something in that gaze… something that wasn’t just mockery. Something deeper, darker.
—But it’s all an act, ‘cause I know exactly what you’re wanting… you know it’s what I am wanting.— And with those last words, she disappeared through the door, leaving Twilight alone, trapped in a storm of emotions she didn’t know how to handle.
Twilight was barely aware of how her legs carried her back to the library. Her mind was still trapped in Fluttershy’s room, in the warmth of her breath against her skin, in the way her words had ignited something unknown inside her. She closed the door with a snap and leaned her back against the wood, breathing heavily. Her heart pounded as if it wanted to break free from her chest.
—This isn’t right… —she whispered to herself, rubbing her temples in a futile attempt to organize her thoughts. But what exactly wasn’t right? What Fluttershy had done? Or the way her own body had responded? With a frustrated growl, she turned to her shelves, pulling out books at random, searching for answers in the only thing that had always been her refuge knowledge. After hours of searching, Twilight slammed the last book shut. Nothing. No magical theory, no logical explanation could give her answers. But deep down, she already knew the truth. This had nothing to do with spells or transformations.
It had to do with her. Her legs trembled. Her mind replayed every moment, Fluttershy's voice chasing her like an all-encompassing echo.
—You can pretend when you hear my voice, darling, it’s your choice not to fall in.—
Twilight squeezed her eyes shut, trying to deny the strange desire still burning on her skin. No… she didn’t want this. Did she?
A knock on the door made her hold her breath. She didn’t need to open it to know who was there.
Her heart hammered against her chest as Fluttershy's voice slipped through the wood, as soft and dangerous as mist on a moonless night.
—Twilight… will you let me in?—
The silence of the library became unbearable. She could ignore her. Pretend nothing had happened. Pretend her body wasn’t trembling, that her mind wasn’t trapped in the memory of those burning eyes and those words that disarmed her. But the truth was, deep down, she had already made her decision.
With one last shaky exhale, she lit her magic and unlocked the door. And when Fluttershy’s silhouette appeared in the doorway, with her lopsided smile and eyes glowing in the dim light, Twilight knew there was no turning back.
Because whatever was awakening inside her… had already consumed her.
