They were right next to me.
I forced myself to open my eyes, and what I saw made my heart pound against my ribs. The leader stood at the forefront, a massive beast with sleek, jet-black fur, his lips curled into a snarl that bared long, ivory fangs. Beside him, a stark-white wolf whimpered, shifting uneasily on its paws. Its eyes—though the same haunting green as the others—held something different. Uncertainty. Hesitation. The white wolf let out a soft whine and nudged my side with its snout before looking toward the black-furred leader.
The larger wolf let out a deep, guttural growl in response, but the white wolf didn’t waver. For a tense moment, they stared each other down in silent conversation. Then, with a huff, the black wolf averted his gaze, seemingly unwilling to challenge the smaller one’s resolve.
That was all the white wolf needed.
Without another moment’s hesitation, it stepped forward, gently gripping the scruff of my neck between its powerful jaws. A wave of disorientation washed over me as my body was lifted from the ground. The sensation was strange—unsettling—but I was too weak to protest.
Dangling beneath me were… hooves?
My hooves.

Good thing she was an earth pony.

"Run!" she screamed, scrambling to her hooves and darting toward the treeline. Her friends were already ahead, their legs pumping with all their might.

Applejack’s eyes went wide, her protective instincts kicking into overdrive. "Attacked?" She blinked, putting a hoof up. "Slow down so I can understand you."
Apple Bloom took a shaky breath, her voice still trembling as she started to tell her story. "Well, we were just exploring, and we thought we were gonna find our cutie marks, but then these wolves came outta nowhere, and we ran and ran, and—" Her voice hitched as the memory of the colt flashed through her mind.

"Twilight!" Applejack yelled, her eyes wide with panic. "They're gettin' in!" She swung a hoof at the wolf nearest to them, landing a solid hit that made it whimper and retreat for a moment, but it was quickly replaced by another, trying to bite at the forcefield.
"I’m thinkin’, I’m thinkin’!" Twilight responded, sweat dripping from her brow as she struggled to hold the barrier intact. "These aren’t normal Timberwolves! Where did they come from?" She eyed the pack, sensing something different about them. "I don’t even think these are Timberwolves... they’re... something else."
"Uhhh, Twilight?" Rainbow Dash said, her voice dripping with impatience. "I hate to burst your bubble, but we're currently being attacked by wolves!"
"I hate to admit it, but Rainbow’s right," Rarity said, her voice trembling with anxiety. "You might want to make a plan... soon."
Twilight barely had time to respond when something heavy crashed against the forcefield with a loud thud, shaking the entire shield. The ponies gasped as a colt, no older than a foal, landed on the shimmering barrier. His fur was ragged, his eyes wide and glowing with the same eerie green light as the wolves.
The ponies stared at him in shock, confusion flooding their expressions.
"Is that the colt Apple Bloom talked about?" Pinkie asked, her voice barely a whisper, yet loud enough for everyone to hear.
"It looks like it..." Twilight said, her voice thick with disbelief. "He... he looks so tiny," Fluttershy said, her heart aching at the sight of the foal. "How long has he been here?"
"I hate to bother your conversation," Rainbow said, turning her head with urgency. "But we’ve got wolves still trying to eat us!"
Twilight snapped back to reality. She quickly focused, her horn sparking with intense magic. Her eyes glowed with determination as she unleashed a powerful magical blast, sending the wolves flying backward with an explosive force.
The wolves yelped in pain and shock, being tossed through the air like ragdolls, their aggressive growls turning into frightened howls. The forcefield flickered before stabilizing, and the immediate danger was momentarily pushed back.
"Is everyone alright?" Twilight asked, breathing heavily as she looked around at her friends. Her mind was racing. The wolves were unlike anything she’d ever seen before, and now, this colt.
Pinkie Pie looked down at the foal, who had now clung to the edge of the forcefield with his small hooves. "What do we do with him now?" she asked softly, her usual cheer replaced with concern.
I felt the blast hit me, throwing my body into the air. My pack dissolved in the blast, their howls fading as they scattered like smoke. My body crashed to the ground with an overwhelming force, and then everything went black.
When I woke up, everything was blurry, and my head felt heavy. Slowly, my vision cleared, revealing six strange creatures standing around me. Their eyes were wide with concern, but their faces were full of emotions I couldn’t understand—fear, curiosity, caution.
The first thing I noticed was the yellow one with soft pink hair. She was standing a little closer than the others, her eyes fixed on me with a mix of gentleness and confusion. "Eth... oh? Thotha... tha?" she said, her voice soft and soothing, but the words were foreign, and they made no sense to me.
I tried to make sense of what they were saying, but nothing clicked. The words felt like they were from another world entirely, far removed from the growls and howls I was used to. I looked at them, trying to communicate with my eyes, but they only stared back, expecting something from me that I couldn’t give.
The strange one continued speaking in the same soft tone, but I didn’t understand. Frustration welled up in me. They were too close. Too many of them. They weren’t like the pack I knew.
I couldn’t let them think they could approach me without consequence.
I bared my teeth in a sharp snarl, my growl echoing around us. My body tensed, ready to defend itself, and the sound of my anger seemed to get their attention.
The yellow one stepped back, her face filled with fear, and the others followed her lead. Their wide eyes shifted nervously as they backed away, unsure of what to do next.
I stood up, shaky but determined to show them I wasn’t weak. They spoke in their strange tongue, their voices rising in pitch, but none of it made sense. All I knew was that I wasn’t one of them.
The yellow one—she was the closest—murmured something in her language, but it was lost on me.
None of them could understand me. I growled again, louder this time, a warning to stay away. They flinched, but they didn’t leave. The silence between us stretched longer than I liked.
(Rainbow Dash's pov)
“Screw this, this kid needs help,” Rainbow Dash said, determination flashing in her magenta eyes. Before anypony could react, she zipped forward in a blur of color, scooping the colt up into her forelegs.
“Rainbow, wait—!” Fluttershy’s voice barely had time to leave her mouth before it happened.
The colt’s head snapped up like a wild animal caught in a trap. His teeth bared in an instant, sharp and unhesitating, and before Rainbow could even register what was happening, he lunged—jaws aiming right for her throat.
“Whoa—what the heck?!” Rainbow shouted, twisting just in time to avoid the bite. But the colt wasn’t done. He thrashed violently in her grasp, his small but powerful wings flaring wildly as he kicked and snapped at her hooves. His snarls were guttural, feral, nothing like any normal foal’s cry.
Rainbow gritted her teeth, struggling to hold onto him. “This kid is crazy strong—like, really freaking strong!” she said, wincing as he raked a hoof against her chest. His movements were wild and unpredictable, each strike fueled by sheer survival instinct.
“Rainbow, put him down before he—” Twilight started, but Rainbow didn’t get the chance. With a powerful jerk, the colt freed one hoof and struck her shoulder hard, making her yelp in surprise. He twisted, his teeth barely grazing her foreleg as she instinctively let go.
In a split second, he was dropping toward the ground, his wings flapping unevenly as he tried to steady himself—
Only for Twilight’s horn to glow, and a shimmering violet forcefield snapped around him midair.
The colt slammed into the magic barrier with full force, snarling and baring his teeth like a caged wolf. He twisted, kicking and ramming his body against the transparent walls, his green eyes wide with panic. Twilight winced as he thrashed, the sheer force of his movements making her magic flicker.
“Geez, Twilight, hurry up! He’s going nuts!” Rainbow said, rubbing her sore shoulder.
“I’m trying—just give me a second!” Twilight gritted her teeth, reinforcing the spell as the colt continued his desperate struggle.
Fluttershy stepped closer, her ears pinned back with worry. “Oh, the poor thing… he’s terrified…” she murmured.
Rarity, who had been silent until now, took a hesitant step forward, watching the colt carefully. “Darlings, are we absolutely sure this is a pony?” she asked, her voice uneasy.
The colt, still trapped in the magic field, froze at the sound of her voice. His ears flicked back, his breathing ragged. He looked between them, chest rising and falling quickly, his body tensed like he was preparing for another fight.
“Of course he’s a pony!” Applejack said, though her expression was uncertain. “He’s just… different.”
Twilight swallowed, staring at the young Pegasus still baring his teeth at them. “Different doesn’t even begin to describe it.”
"I think we should take him to the ponyville hospital" Twilight said " he clearly needs help, and I don't think anyone one of us is qualified to take care of a severely mentally unstable foal" with that they all agreed in a flash of light Twilight teleported to the hospital.

My vision twisted and blurred. One second, I was surrounded by trees, the scent of the forest still clinging to my fur. The next, I was somewhere else entirely—bright, sterile, unnatural.
The shock hit me like a falling stone. My stomach twisted, and for a brief moment, my body felt weightless, like I was plummeting from the sky.
Then, the world snapped back into place.
Everything was wrong. The air smelled strange—too clean, too artificial. The sounds were different—no rustling leaves, no distant howls of my pack. Instead, there were voices.
Unfamiliar voices.
I spun inside my prison, my wings flaring as I slammed against the glowing wall surrounding me. My hooves struck hard, but the barrier didn’t give. Trapped. I was trapped again.
Panic clawed at my chest. My breathing quickened. No. No, I wouldn’t let them keep me here.
The purple one—the one who stole me—was moving quickly through the strange place, her eyes locked ahead as she pushed forward.
I snapped my teeth at the barrier, letting out a furious snarl. She flinched but didn’t stop.
They were taking me somewhere. But why?
Then we stopped.
Another creature stood before us. Taller, white, with a strange cloth wrapped around its body. It smelled like chemicals and something sharp—something unnatural.
The purple one spoke first.
“Tahoe that do toth do gain.”
The sounds meant nothing.
I bared my teeth, ears pressing flat against my head. My body was tense, ready to fight if I had to.
The white one’s eyes widened, its mouth moving. More meaningless sounds.
“Though doing toe, shut it a.”
Then, it moved toward me.
I tensed.
It lifted a hoof, reaching out.
No.
I lunged.
My body slammed against the barrier with a force that made the purple one stumble, her horn flickering for just a second. The bubble held firm, but I didn’t stop. I struck again, baring my fangs, letting out a deep, guttural snarl.
The white one recoiled. The purple one said something quickly, its voice high and panicked.
I didn’t care.
They weren’t my pack. They weren’t my family.
I wouldn’t let them take me. Not again.
Never again.

Twilight burst through the hospital doors, her hooves striking the floor in a frantic rhythm. The glowing sphere of magic containing the colt pulsed with energy as he thrashed inside, snarling and slamming against its walls.
The door banged against the wall behind her, making Nurse Redheart flinch at the sudden noise. She turned sharply, already scowling—until she caught sight of what Twilight had brought with her.
The colt.
His fur was matted, streaked with dried blood, and his wild green eyes darted around the unfamiliar space with pure, unfiltered panic. His hooves struck the magic barrier with such force that each impact sent ripples through the glowing surface. His teeth bared in a silent snarl, his small, ragged form coiled like a cornered animal ready to lash out.
Redheart's breath hitched.
"Twilight," she said, her voice low, warning. "This is unethical. You know that."
Twilight grimaced. "I didn’t have a choice! He’s completely feral—he tried to attack my friends! This was the only way to contain him without hurting him or anyone else."
Redheart’s expression darkened. "He's a foal, Twilight. A foal! You can't just—"
The nurse reached a hoof toward the magical prison.
A blur of motion.
The colt lunged, slamming against the glowing surface with a snarl so fierce that Redheart stumbled backward, her breath catching in her throat. For a moment, raw animalistic fury filled his eyes, his lips curled back to reveal sharp, predatory teeth.
Twilight swallowed hard, her ears flattening as sweat dripped down her temple. Rainbow had been right—this colt was terrifyingly strong.
Redheart steadied herself, eyes never leaving the foal. She turned sharply, pressing a button on the intercom.
"Doctor Stable, I need immediate assistance at the front desk," she said, her voice firm but edged with unease.
Twilight forced a nervous smile. "I—I swear, I wouldn’t have brought him in like this if I didn’t think he was dangerous."
The colt was still growling, his gaze flicking between the ponies in the room, muscles tensed as if waiting for the moment they would strike.
And Twilight couldn't shake the feeling that, in his mind, they already had.
(Twilight's pov)
Twilight let out a weary sigh as she finally released her magical hold on the colt. The moment her magic dissipated, the wild Pegasus thrashed violently, his hooves kicking out as a feral snarl ripped from his throat. His ragged wings flared instinctively, though they were too unkempt and weak to provide any real resistance.
Doctor Stable and the orderlies wasted no time in stepping forward, their movements cautious yet firm. The colt bucked and twisted, his body contorting in a desperate attempt to break free, but the stallions were larger, stronger. His hooves scraped uselessly against the pristine hospital floor as they dragged him toward the back, his growls echoing through the sterile halls.
Twilight watched, her ears pinned back as a heavy weight settled in her chest. What happened to him? she wondered, her mind racing with questions. He was a pony, yet he behaved more like a wild animal, driven purely by instinct and fear. Had he truly lived his whole life like this? Alone? With no language, no family, no guidance?
“He’s in good hooves, Twilight,” Nurse Red heart reassured, her voice firm but not unkind. She had seen countless difficult cases, but even she looked troubled by the colt’s state. “We’ll do everything we can to help him.”
Twilight swallowed, nodding slowly. The logical part of her mind knew he needed professional care, but doubt still gnawed at the edges of her thoughts. Was this really the right way to handle things? Would he ever understand that they were trying to help him?
Still, there was nothing more she could do at the moment. With one last glance toward the hallway where the colt had disappeared, Twilight took a deep breath and lit her horn. In a flash of violet light, she vanished, leaving the hospital behind.
Hours later
Castle of friendship
Six ponies sat around the large crystal table in Twilight’s castle, their voices overlapping in heated discussion. The tension in the room was thick as they debated what to do next.
"I’m telling you, this is a bad idea," Rainbow Dash said, crossing her forelegs with a frustrated huff. "Did you see how strong he was? That’s not normal!" She gestured vaguely toward the hospital, as if the colt’s unnatural strength still lingered in the air.
Fluttershy, sitting quietly until now, finally spoke up, her voice gentle but firm. "I think he deserves to be helped," she said, her teal eyes filled with sympathy.
"I agree with Fluttershy!" Pinkie Pie chimed in, bouncing slightly in her seat. "He just needs some TLC—and maybe a big Welcome-To-Ponyville party!"
"And a bath," Rarity added with a dramatic shudder. "Who knows how long that poor foal has been trapped in that dreadful wilderness? The state of his mane alone is an absolute tragedy."
Rainbow groaned, rubbing her face with a hoof. "That’s not what I meant!" she said in exasperation. "I just think the hospital is probably the best place for him right now. They can handle him better than we can."
Applejack had been silent up until now, listening carefully to everypony’s opinions. She finally sighed and leaned forward, placing her hooves on the table. "I dunno, Rainbow. I think somepony other than the hospital should be the one to help him."
The others turned to look at her in surprise. "What do you mean, darling?" Rarity asked, raising a delicate brow.
Applejack hesitated for a moment before continuing. "Look, we all know the hospital here ain’t exactly equipped for somethin’ like this. They do their best, but let’s be honest—they’ve never dealt with a foal who thinks he’s a wild animal. I ain’t sure they’ll be able to get through to him."
Twilight let out a tired sigh, rubbing her temples. "Have you girls forgotten that he acts like an animal?" she said, her frustration evident. "He doesn’t just need a home—he needs real help. We don’t even know if he can be reasoned with!"
Before anypony could respond, the sound of the door opening drew their attention. Spike waddled in, balancing a tray of sandwiches. He arched a brow at the sudden silence.
"Uh... did I miss something?" he asked as he set the tray down on the table.
"Spike! Great timing!" Twilight said, perking up.
"It is?" he asked skeptically. "Why?"
"We were just discussing what to do about the colt," Twilight explained. "We can’t decide whether somepony should take him in or if he should stay at the hospital."
Spike blinked. "Oh, you mean the one that acts like a dog?"
"Spike!" Fluttershy scolded, shooting him a disapproving look.
"What? That’s what he does!" Spike defended himself, holding up his claws. "He growls, bites, and howls at the moon! He’s like Winona, but, y’know... angrier."
Twilight sighed but didn’t argue the point. "That aside, we still don’t know if he can be helped."
Spike tapped his chin in thought before snapping his claws. "Wait, Twilight! What about that new memory spell you were working on? The one that lets you see into somepony’s past? Maybe that could tell you whether or not he can be helped."
Twilight’s eyes widened. "Spike, that’s brilliant! Why didn’t I think of that?"
Pinkie suddenly squinted her eyes and glanced suspiciously around the room. "Yeah... it is brilliant. Too brilliant," she muttered.
Every pony stared at her.
"Almost like... it’s a plot device like the author was to lazy to think of something else," she added ominously.
Rainbow Dash tilted her head. "Uh... what?"
"Oh, nothing!" Pinkie chirped, waving a hoof dismissively. "Let’s go get that spell!"
Twilight rolled her eyes but smiled. "Alright, every pony. Let’s head to the library. If this works, we might finally get some answers."
With that, the six friends stood up, determination settling over them as they prepared to uncover the truth behind the strange colt from the Everfree.

I thrashed violently against the creatures holding me down, my heart hammering in my chest. Their hooves pressed against my limbs, pinning me to the strange, stiff surface beneath me. Panic surged through my veins as I struggled, snarling and baring my teeth at them.
One of them made the mistake of getting too close. I snapped my jaws at him, aiming for his leg, but before I could sink my teeth in, something was forced over my mouth. A thick, scratchy strap tightened around my muzzle, locking it shut. I growled in frustration, my breath coming out in ragged huffs through my nostrils.
I kicked and writhed, trying to break free, but more hooves held me down. Restraints wrapped around my legs, binding them to the bed beneath me. No matter how much I fought, I couldn’t move. I was trapped.
A sharp prick in my leg made me jolt. My vision swam as a strange sensation washed over me, dulling my movements. My body grew heavy, my struggles weakening with each passing second.
No! I couldn’t let them do this! I couldn’t—
My head lolled to the side as the world around me blurred and darkened. The last thing I saw was their blurry faces watching me as everything faded into nothing.
