//-------------------------------------------------------// The colt of the everfree -by equinox valor- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 The distant melody of birdsong filled my ears as I slowly drifted back into awareness. My body felt wrong—heavy, sluggish, unfamiliar in a way I couldn’t quite place. A dull ache settled in my limbs, as though I had been asleep for far too long. Groggily, I attempted to shift, but every movement felt clumsy, as if I were learning to control my own body all over again. I cracked my eyes open, only to snap them shut as a harsh glare of sunlight seared my vision. Blinded momentarily, I took a shaky breath, trying to steady the growing unease curling in my gut. Something wasn’t right. Then, I heard it—the low, eerie howls of wolves. Close. Too close. The sound sent a chill down my spine. A rustling in the underbrush made my breath hitch, followed by the unmistakable crunch of paws against the earth. They were right next to me. I forced myself to open my eyes, and what I saw made my heart pound against my ribs. Several pairs of glowing green eyes stared me down, their eerie luminance contrasting against the dim shade of the trees. The leader stood at the forefront, a massive beast with sleek, jet-black fur, his lips curled into a snarl that bared long, ivory fangs. His presence radiated dominance, an unspoken warning to the others. Beside him, a stark-white wolf whimpered, shifting uneasily on its paws. Its eyes—though the same haunting green as the others—held something different. Uncertainty. Hesitation. The white wolf let out a soft whine and nudged my side with its snout before looking toward the black-furred leader. The larger wolf let out a deep, guttural growl in response, but the white wolf didn’t waver. For a tense moment, they stared each other down in silent conversation. Then, with a huff, the black wolf averted his gaze, seemingly unwilling to challenge the smaller one’s resolve. That was all the white wolf needed. Without another moment’s hesitation, it stepped forward, gently gripping the scruff of my neck between its powerful jaws. A wave of disorientation washed over me as my body was lifted from the ground. The sensation was strange—unsettling—but I was too weak to protest. As I was carried, I finally looked down—and my breath caught in my throat. Dangling beneath me were… hooves? My hooves. The sight sent a jolt of panic through my chest. My legs, once familiar, were now foreign. The soft gray of them stood in stark contrast to the deep greens and browns of the forest around me. My heart pounded as I tried to move them, but they responded sluggishly, as if they weren’t truly mine. What had happened to me? The wolves moved swiftly through the dense forest, their silent forms weaving effortlessly between the towering trees. The white wolf carrying me held me firm but gentle in her jaws, her grip secure. I should have been terrified. I should have been fighting, screaming—something. But the overwhelming strangeness of my own body drowned out every other fear. A single thought echoed in my mind, looping over and over like a forgotten dream. What am I? After what felt like an eternity of being carried, the white wolf finally stopped, gently lowering me to the ground in a small patch of thick underbrush. My body hit the earth with a soft thud, and the world around me spun for a moment before I could focus again. I was surrounded by the soft rustling of leaves and the distant calls of birds, but what caught my attention were the three small gray wolf pups huddled nearby. Their tiny forms were barely more than bundles of fur, their wide, curious eyes fixed on me. One by one, they approached cautiously, sniffing me with an innocent curiosity. Their noses were cold against my fur , and I felt a strange sense of vulnerability as they circled me. The white wolf, whom I had already assumed was their mother, watched silently from a short distance away. She let out a low sound, something between a growl and a chuff, that seemed to command their attention. Instantly, the pups froze, their small bodies stilling as they turned to face her. Her gaze was sharp, calm yet commanding, and she locked eyes with each of them in turn. The pups, despite their initial excitement, immediately stopped their investigation of me and sat back, their ears flicking nervously at the sound. It was clear she was in charge, and I wasn’t sure whether that was a comfort or a warning. The mother wolf lingered for a moment, her piercing green eyes studying me one last time before she turned and padded away into the underbrush. The rustling of leaves and the soft crunch of her retreating footsteps faded into the distance, leaving me alone with the three wolf pups. As soon as she was gone, the pups turned their attention back to me, their curiosity reigniting. They inched closer, sniffing at my arms, my legs—one even nudged my face with its tiny wet nose. Their tails wagged hesitantly, as if unsure whether I was something to be feared, played with, or simply ignored. One particularly bold pup, the smallest of the three, let out a high-pitched yip before pawing at my side. The others, emboldened by its bravery, followed suit, their playful energy a stark contrast to the confusion and exhaustion still weighing down my body. I let out a slow breath, unsure of what to do. These creatures—so innocent, so unafraid—had no idea who or what I was. And yet, for some reason, their mother had chosen to leave me here with them. Why? As the pups continued to investigate me with their small, cold noses and clumsy little paws, I couldn’t help but wonder—was I a guest in this den? A prisoner? Or something else entirely? When the mother wolf finally returned, she carried something in her jaws—fresh meat, dark and dripping with blood. She stepped into the den and dropped it onto the ground with a soft thud. The three pups perked up instantly, their small bodies bristling with excitement as they eagerly pushed past me, yipping and whining as they tore into the meal. Before I could process what was happening, the mother wolf turned to me. She lowered her head, gripping another chunk of raw meat, and placed it directly in front of me. I stared at it. The metallic scent of blood filled my nose, sharp and overwhelming. My stomach twisted—not in disgust, but in hunger. I should have hesitated. I should have recoiled. But something deep inside me—something instinctual—took over. Without a word, without thought, I leaned forward and took a bite. The taste of raw meat, warm and thick with iron, coated my tongue. It should have made me sick. It didn’t. As I swallowed, my mind raced with a single, horrifying realization. This felt natural. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 I had been in this forest for months now, my body growing stronger with each passing day. I wasn’t the small, fragile foal I had once been. I had learned to move like a hunter, to think like one. Crouched low in the underbrush, I kept my breathing steady, my wings tucked tightly against my sides. My pack siblings mirrored my movements, their ears pricked forward, eyes locked onto our target. The fox we had been tracking for weeks stood just ahead in the clearing, oblivious to the danger creeping toward it. We moved as one. Then—like a sudden storm breaking—the pack struck. My siblings rushed forward, snarling and snapping, their paws thundering against the forest floor. The fox reacted in an instant, its sharp instincts sending it darting between us, twisting and dodging with incredible speed. My heart pounded as I lunged, barely missing, the thrill of the hunt electrifying my veins. The fox juked left, then right, but it was tiring. We were wearing it down. Then, my moment came. I pushed forward with a burst of speed, my hooves kicking up dirt. The fox leapt to evade my packmates—but I was already there. My teeth clamped down on its leg, and it let out a sharp yelp of pain. It twisted, snapping its jaws toward my face, but I was faster. Instinct took over. With a fierce tug, I yanked it down, and before it could recover, I tore into its body. Warm blood sprayed, splattering my muzzle, coating my coat in crimson. The scent was thick, iron-heavy, overwhelming. My heart thundered in my chest, my breaths coming fast and ragged. The hunt was over. But as I stood there, my mouth filled with the taste of fresh kill, a strange, nagging thought clawed its way into my mind. As I tore into the fox, the raw, bloody meat filled my stomach, warm and heavy. The taste no longer made me hesitate—it was just food, just survival. My packmates watched as I ate, their sharp eyes gleaming in the dim forest light. The scent of blood clung to my coat, thick and iron-tinged, but I barely noticed anymore. Once I had my fill, I stepped back, leaving the remains where they lay—a grotesque pile of fur and bone, barely recognizable as the creature it once was. The cycle of the hunt had been completed, but my pack was still restless. They were still hungry. Without a word, we moved again, slipping into the underbrush, our bodies low, our steps silent. The forest stretched endlessly ahead, dark and alive, whispering in the rustling of leaves and the distant cries of unseen creatures. Then—we saw it. Another animal stood in our path. We froze, muscles coiling with anticipation. The tension crackled between us as we sized up our next target, eyes locked, waiting for the right moment to strike. And then— We pounced. ======================================================================== ( Hours earlier) (Apple bloom's pov) Apple Bloom trotted confidently ahead, her friends, Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle, following closely behind her into the dense trees. The shadows from the thick canopy stretched over the ground, making the forest feel darker than usual. The air was thick with the scent of pine and damp earth. Apple Bloom’s hooves clopped rhythmically against the dirt path as she led the way. "Are you sure we’ll find our cutie marks in here?" Sweetie Belle asked, her voice tinged with doubt. "I mean, we’ve tried to get our cutie marks in the Everfree before, and..." She trailed off, glancing nervously at the trees surrounding them. Apple Bloom gave her a reassuring smile, though her own excitement was tempered with the weight of the forest’s silence. "Yeah, I’m sure we’ll find them this time. This place is perfect for our next big adventure!" Her eyes sparkled with determination. "I’ve got a good feeling about this." Scootaloo, trying to hide her own uncertainty, fluttered her wings and gave a bold nod. "Yeah, I’m sure it’ll be fine, after all..." She paused dramatically before grinning. "We’re the Cutie Mark Crusaders!" she shouted, her voice full of enthusiasm. "Yay!" the three of them cheered together, their voices echoing through the forest. But the cheer faded as the reality of their surroundings crept back in. The trees seemed to loom taller than they remembered, and the air grew quieter as they ventured deeper into the unknown. After a while of walking, the sun began to dip low in the sky, casting long shadows through the dense trees. The forest had grown eerily quiet, the usual sounds of birds and rustling leaves replaced by a heavy silence. Apple Bloom glanced up at the sky, noticing the fading light. "Hey, girls, I think it's time we head back," she said, her voice edged with concern. "It looks like we’re gonna get lost if we keep going." She turned to look at her friends, about to add something else, but before she could speak, her ears twitched. Something wasn’t right. Her hooves froze mid-step as her gaze swept the area around them. The air felt colder, the trees seemed taller, and then—she saw them. Green eyes. Glowing faintly through the underbrush, watching her. They were too high off the ground to be any ordinary animal. She barely had time to process the eerie sight before something sprang from the shadows. The sudden movement made her gasp, and Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo both froze in place. A figure—large, shadowy, and swift—lunged toward them, its form too fast to be anything normal. The green eyes flashed again, gleaming in the dimming light. Apple Bloom’s heart raced as she instinctively took a step back. "Run!" she yelled. The three fillies ran as fast as their little legs could carry them, their hooves pounding against the forest floor in frantic rhythm. Ahead, they could see the treeline of Ponyville, the comforting sight of their home just beyond the trees. All they had to do was make it out. But then, in an instant, Apple Bloom was knocked off her hooves, her body crashing to the ground with a yelp. At first, she thought it was just a blur, a shadow moving too quickly to catch. But as she looked up, her heart skipped a beat. It wasn’t an animal. A colt. His fur was matted, his coat a mess of grime and dirt, stained dark with a red substance that had her stomach turning. Apple Bloom’s breath caught as her eyes locked onto the colt’s face—his eyes wide and wild, his teeth bared in a vicious snarl. The red, sticky substance… it was blood. Her mind raced in terror. This colt wasn’t just lost—he was dangerous. Before she could react, he lunged at her, snapping his teeth mere inches from her face. Apple Bloom’s heart pounded in her chest as she scrambled to defend herself. Good thing she was an earth pony. With a burst of strength, she kicked out, using her hooves to toss the colt away with a force that sent him tumbling back into the underbrush. He snarled in frustration, scrambling to get back up, but Apple Bloom didn’t wait around. "Run!" she screamed, scrambling to her hooves and darting toward the treeline. Her friends were already ahead, their legs pumping with all their might. They were so close—so close to escaping. But Apple Bloom couldn’t shake the image of the colt’s blood-soaked form from her mind. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3 (Apple jack's pov) Applejack was just finishing up the last round of apple bucking with her brother, Big Macintosh, as the sun began to dip lower, painting the sky in rich hues of orange and purple. They worked in comfortable silence, gathering the apples and carrying them into the barn. "Hey, Big Mac," Applejack asked, glancing over at her brother as they made their way inside the house. "Have you seen Apple Bloom? She’s been gone for a while now." Big Macintosh gave his usual reply, his deep voice simple and direct. "Nope." Applejack’s brow furrowed, her concern growing. "Well, I’m gonna go look. She knows she ain't allowed out after dark." She was about to step out the door when, without warning, it burst open. Three little fillies—Applejack’s very own sister and her friends—tumbled inside, their faces pale and wide-eyed. "What in tarnation!" Applejack yelped, jumping back in surprise. Apple Bloom was the first to speak, her words coming out in a jumbled rush of panic. "Applejack, we were in the Everfree, and then—then we got attacked by wolves—and then a colt—he was with them!" Applejack’s eyes went wide, her protective instincts kicking into overdrive. "Attacked?" She blinked, putting a hoof up. "Slow down so I can understand you." Apple Bloom took a shaky breath, her voice still trembling as she started to tell her story. "Well, we were just exploring, and we thought we were gonna find our cutie marks, but then these wolves came outta nowhere, and we ran and ran, and—" Her voice hitched as the memory of the colt flashed through her mind. ======================================================================== Me and my pack made our way back to the den after another successful hunt. The blood from our kill stained my face and coat, dripping off my body as we moved through the forest. My wolf siblings, covered in their own share of blood, walked alongside me, their steps sure and steady, but I could feel the strain in my bones. My body ached, the sharp sting of the kick from that animal still fresh in my side. It wasn’t enough to stop me, but it made every step heavier. I struggled to keep up, my legs feeling like they were made of stone, but I knew I would be fine. All I needed was rest. As we neared the den, I noticed that it had grown much larger since I first arrived. It was more expansive now, a sprawling shelter nestled deep in the woods. The sound of playful yips and howls echoed around us as pups from my siblings ran about, their small bodies darting between the trees. The pack felt different. The alpha who had once led us with quiet authority was gone. He had succumbed to sickness, left behind as the pack moved on. A new alpha had taken his place—a much fiercer one. There was no time for mourning. In the wild, weakness is abandoned, and survival belongs to those who are strong. I made my way into the den, my legs finally giving way as I reached a large rock. The weight of the day pressed down on me, and without another thought, I climbed onto the stone and collapsed, the exhaustion overtaking me. My eyes closed as I fell into a restless sleep, the sounds of my pack around me, but my mind far from peace. (Apple Jack's pov) "Big Mac," Applejack said, her voice firm but tinged with worry. "I'm heading' out and getting' to the bottom of this." She paused, her expression hardening as she met his gaze. "Can you watch the fillies while I'm gone?" "Yep," Big Mac answered, his voice as steady as always, though the concern in his eyes was clear. Applejack nodded and turned, pushing open the door with a sense of urgency. The Everfree Forest wasn’t a place to take lightly, and with Apple Bloom’s safety on the line, she needed her friends by her side. She made her way to Twilight’s castle, her hooves striking the cobblestone path with purpose. The snow beneath her wasn’t enough to slow her down; if anything, it only pushed her to move faster. When she arrived at the front door, she wasted no time in knocking loudly. "Hold on, hold on!" came a voice from within, followed by a few hurried footsteps. The door swung open, revealing Spike, the small baby dragon who served as Twilight’s assistant. His eyes widened when he saw Applejack standing on the doorstep, her expression as serious as ever. "Oh, Applejack! What are you doing here?" he asked, his tone light, though a frown tugged at the edges of his mouth when he saw the look on her face. "Is Twilight here? It's an emergency," Applejack said, her voice low but urgent. Spike's eyes narrowed for a second, and he immediately nodded. "Twilight! Applejack’s here to see you! It’s an emergency!" He raised his voice as he shouted up the stairs, the sound of quick hooves following soon after. "I'll be right there!" Twilight’s voice called from upstairs. A few moments later, she appeared at the top of the stairs, her wings fluttering slightly as she descended to greet Applejack. Spike stepped aside, motioning for Applejack to enter. "Come on in, Applejack. Twilight will be right down," he said. Applejack stepped inside, feeling the warmth of the castle welcome her despite the cold weight of the situation. She wasn’t one for formalities, so she got straight to the point as soon as she entered. "Twilight, something happened in the Everfree. Apple Bloom... she was attacked by wolves." Twilight's eyes widened, her expression shifting from confusion to concern in the blink of an eye. "What?!" she gasped, quickly trotting over to Applejack, who had a determined look in her eyes. "Is she alright? How is she? What exactly happened?" Applejack gave a sharp shake of her head. "She’s alright for now, but that ain’t the point. She said a colt was with the wolves. A colt who... looked strange. And I don’t know what to make of it, but I’m not taking any chances. I need to figure out what’s going on, and I need your help." Twilight’s gaze softened, her concern clear as she placed a hoof on Applejack’s shoulder. "Of course we’ll help. Let’s gather the others. We need to figure out what’s going on, and I’ll do whatever I can to help protect Apple Bloom." //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4 I was awoken by the eerie, haunting sound of my pack howling to the moon. The call echoed through the night, a primal sound that stirred something deep inside me. The full moon hung low in the sky, casting its pale light across the forest floor. I lifted my head, feeling the cool night air brush against my fur. Without thinking, I joined them. A deep, guttural howl escaped me, one that seemed to stretch on for minutes, resonating with the power of my pack. We all howled together, our voices rising in the night, united in the rhythm of the forest. After a while, we fell silent, our ears perked as the air around us seemed to shift. There was something different now. A faint scent on the wind, unfamiliar yet oddly distinct. My pack seemed to pick up on it before I did, their noses twitching as they sniffed the air. It wasn’t the scent of prey, but something else—something darker. Fear. The scent lingered, thick and unmistakable, as if something—or someone—was terrified and on the move. A shiver ran through me, the raw instinct of the hunt awakening. My pack stirred, their movements becoming more deliberate, more focused. This wasn’t just any hunt. This was a chase, driven by the unmistakable scent of fear. We were drawn to it, the promise of an easy prey too tempting to ignore. Without hesitation, we moved as one, slipping through the trees with the silent grace of hunters. Our senses were heightened, the air filled with the adrenaline of the hunt. We were closing in on whatever it was that was afraid, and we would find it. The chase had begun. ======================================================================== (Fluttershy's pov) "Eeep!" Fluttershy let out a quiet sound of fear as the sharp crack of a broken branch echoed through the dense forest. The sound sent a chill down her spine, and her eyes widened as she instinctively huddled closer to her friends. The group froze, all of them staring ahead, their ears straining in the eerie silence that followed. All six of them stood motionless, holding their breath, eyes wide as they waited for any sign of danger. "Oops, sorry!" Pinkie Pie's voice broke the tension, her signature grin plastered across her face as she bounced on her hooves. "Did I do that?" she asked innocently, oblivious to the discomfort her sudden outburst had caused. The group let out a collective sigh of relief, their bodies relaxing just a little bit. "Pinkie," Twilight sighed, her wings drooping slightly. "Please, don't do that. You nearly gave us all a heart attack." But Pinkie Pie only shrugged, as if she hadn't a care in the world. "Sorry, I couldn't help it! It’s just so fun to be out here in the wild, right?" "Yeah, fun," Rainbow Dash said, rolling her eyes. "We need to be quiet, Pinkie. We're not in the middle of a party; we're trying to track down some wolves." "Exactly!" Rarity added, her voice full of concern. "We don't know if those hideous wolves are still out here." She shuddered, her impeccable mane slightly tousled from their trek through the forest. "They could be lurking just beyond our reach." "Well, even if we attract them, I can take on a pack of wolves for all of us," Rainbow said with a cocky grin, punching the air with her hooves. "No problem!" "Rainbow, you know that's not—" Twilight started to protest but was quickly cut off by Rainbow’s overconfidence. "And besides," Rainbow added, turning to Fluttershy with a teasing grin. "We’ve got Fluttershy here! I’m sure she’ll charm them all with her kindness, right?" Fluttershy blushed deeply, her face turning a shade of pink. "I-I wouldn’t say that," she mumbled, her wings fluttering nervously at her sides. "I mean... wolves are wild animals, and I don’t know if I can... handle them like that..." Twilight stepped closer to her, offering a reassuring smile. "Don’t worry, Fluttershy. We're all in this together. We’ll figure out how to deal with them without putting anypony in danger." She looked around at the group, her expression serious now. "We don’t know what we're dealing with yet, and we need to stay alert." The forest around them seemed to hum with a quiet energy, the tension hanging in the air as they continued deeper into the Everfree. There was no turning back now—whatever they were searching for, they would have to face it head-on. "Don’t forget what Apple Bloom said," Applejack reminded everypony, her tone serious. "About the feral colt?" Pinkie Pie asked, her usual cheerful demeanor faltering just a bit. Applejack nodded. "Yes, that colt. And I’m tellin' ya, there’s somethin’ strange goin’ on in this forest. We need to be careful." "Are you sure there’s actually a colt out here?" Rainbow asked, raising an eyebrow. "I mean, I'm not saying I don’t believe you, but... it’s hard to picture." Applejack shot her a sharp glare, one that made Rainbow flinch and shrink back slightly. "I’m sure," Applejack said firmly. "If you saw what Apple Bloom looked like when she came home... you’d believe her, too." Rainbow sighed, ears flicking back in mild frustration. "Okay, okay. Geez, I’m sorry." She trotted a little further ahead, her wings twitching with the need to stay alert. The group pressed on, the forest around them growing eerily quiet. Then, suddenly, a loud snap of a branch echoed through the air. Everypony stopped in their tracks, their eyes wide, scanning their surroundings. "Pinkie?!" Twilight exclaimed, her voice tinged with concern. Pinkie Pie turned wide-eyed to the group. "What? It wasn’t me! I didn’t step on anything!" Twilight shot her a brief but pointed glance, then turned her attention back to the darkening woods. Her horn flared with a soft magical glow as she reached for her spellbook in case they needed to defend themselves. Just as she did, a set of glowing green eyes appeared from behind a bush. Everypony froze, breath catching in their throats. Then, one by one, more eyes appeared—each set watching them intently, their shapes barely visible in the shadows. "Do you think those are the wolves?" Rainbow Dash asked, her voice sharp, but a little too loud in the tense silence. She fluttered her wings nervously, as if ready to take off at any moment. Twilight’s horn flickered as she looked at the eyes, trying to gauge the situation. "I don’t know," she muttered. "But they don’t look like any wolves I’ve seen before..." The eerie green glow of the eyes grew more intense, and the group backed up slightly, their ears straining as the rustling of bushes and leaves filled the air. It wasn’t just the wolves they had to worry about now—something else was out there, watching them. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 5 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 5 (Fluttershy's pov) The wolves just stared at them, the eerie green glow of their eyes cutting through the darkness like lanterns in the night. Time seemed to slow as the six of them stood frozen, the weight of their gaze pressing down on them. Everypony’s muscles tensed, their breaths shallow, as the wolves remained motionless, watching. "What do you think they want?" Pinkie Pie asked, her usual cheery tone replaced with a hint of nervousness as she slowly backed away from the nearest set of eyes. "I... I don’t know," Twilight said, her voice tight with uncertainty. "But we need to stay calm." Fluttershy, ever the peacemaker, stepped forward. "I-I can try to communicate with them..." she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. She hesitated for a moment before carefully walking up to the closest wolf, its glowing eyes fixed on her. "Umm, excuse me, sir," Fluttershy began, her voice gentle yet trembling with fear. "But... can I, um, ask what you want?" The wolf’s response was immediate—a low, menacing growl that reverberated in the night. Its jaws snapped shut with a terrifying force, sending a clear message: stay away. Before Fluttershy could react, Applejack was at her side, yanking her back by the tail. "Get away from there, sugarcube!" Applejack said, her voice laced with concern. Fluttershy stumbled back into Applejack’s protective grasp, her face pale with fear. "I think... that they think we are the next meal," she squeaked, her voice barely audible. "You think?!" Rainbow Dash said, her tone dripping with sarcasm, though there was a nervous edge to it now. "I thought that was pretty obvious!" Just then, one of the wolves—larger than the others—lunged forward, its fangs bared. Every pony recoiled in shock. Twilight reacted instantly, her horn flaring to life. With a burst of magic, she cast a powerful forcefield that shimmered into existence, just in time to block the wolf’s attack. The wolf slammed into the barrier with a heavy thud, its claws scraping against the shimmering surface. The rest of the pack began to growl, circling them as the tension grew thicker. The wolves weren’t backing down. The forcefield held, but it felt like it was only a temporary solution. The pack’s eyes glowed brighter now, their presence more menacing than ever. Twilight’s heart raced as she maintained the spell, but the fear in the air was palpable. "We need a plan, and fast!" she said, her voice strained with effort. The first wolf began to scrape its claws against the ground next to the force field, its eerie green eyes locked on them. The rest of the pack quickly took notice, and one by one, they began trying to dig under the shimmering barrier. The ground cracked and shifted as the wolves' claws clawed through the earth, desperately trying to get to the ponies. "Twilight!" Applejack yelled, her eyes wide with panic. "They're gettin' in!" She swung a hoof at the wolf nearest to them, landing a solid hit that made it whimper and retreat for a moment, but it was quickly replaced by another, trying to bite at the forcefield. "I’m thinkin’, I’m thinkin’!" Twilight responded, sweat dripping from her brow as she struggled to hold the barrier intact. "These aren’t normal Timberwolves! Where did they come from?" She eyed the pack, sensing something different about them. "I don’t even think these are Timberwolves... they’re... something else." "Uhhh, Twilight?" Rainbow Dash said, her voice dripping with impatience. "I hate to burst your bubble, but we're currently being attacked by wolves!" "I hate to admit it, but Rainbow’s right," Rarity said, her voice trembling with anxiety. "You might want to make a plan... soon." Twilight barely had time to respond when something heavy crashed against the forcefield with a loud thud, shaking the entire shield. The ponies gasped as a colt, no older than a foal, landed on the shimmering barrier. His fur was ragged, his eyes wide and glowing with the same eerie green light as the wolves. The ponies stared at him in shock, confusion flooding their expressions. "Is that the colt Apple Bloom talked about?" Pinkie asked, her voice barely a whisper, yet loud enough for everyone to hear. "It looks like it..." Twilight said, her voice thick with disbelief. "He... he looks so tiny," Fluttershy said, her heart aching at the sight of the foal. "How long has he been here?" "I hate to bother your conversation," Rainbow said, turning her head with urgency. "But we’ve got wolves still trying to eat us!" Twilight snapped back to reality. She quickly focused, her horn sparking with intense magic. Her eyes glowed with determination as she unleashed a powerful magical blast, sending the wolves flying backward with an explosive force. The wolves yelped in pain and shock, being tossed through the air like ragdolls, their aggressive growls turning into frightened howls. The forcefield flickered before stabilizing, and the immediate danger was momentarily pushed back. "Is everyone alright?" Twilight asked, breathing heavily as she looked around at her friends. Her mind was racing. The wolves were unlike anything she’d ever seen before, and now, this colt. Pinkie Pie looked down at the foal, who had now clung to the edge of the forcefield with his small hooves. "What do we do with him now?" she asked softly, her usual cheer replaced with concern. I felt the blast hit me, throwing my body into the air. My pack dissolved in the blast, their howls fading as they scattered like smoke. My body crashed to the ground with an overwhelming force, and then everything went black. When I woke up, everything was blurry, and my head felt heavy. Slowly, my vision cleared, revealing six strange creatures standing around me. Their eyes were wide with concern, but their faces were full of emotions I couldn’t understand—fear, curiosity, caution. The first thing I noticed was the yellow one with soft pink hair. She was standing a little closer than the others, her eyes fixed on me with a mix of gentleness and confusion. "Eth... oh? Thotha... tha?" she said, her voice soft and soothing, but the words were foreign, and they made no sense to me. I tried to make sense of what they were saying, but nothing clicked. The words felt like they were from another world entirely, far removed from the growls and howls I was used to. I looked at them, trying to communicate with my eyes, but they only stared back, expecting something from me that I couldn’t give. The strange one continued speaking in the same soft tone, but I didn’t understand. Frustration welled up in me. They were too close. Too many of them. They weren’t like the pack I knew. I couldn’t let them think they could approach me without consequence. I bared my teeth in a sharp snarl, my growl echoing around us. My body tensed, ready to defend itself, and the sound of my anger seemed to get their attention. The yellow one stepped back, her face filled with fear, and the others followed her lead. Their wide eyes shifted nervously as they backed away, unsure of what to do next. I stood up, shaky but determined to show them I wasn’t weak. They spoke in their strange tongue, their voices rising in pitch, but none of it made sense. All I knew was that I wasn’t one of them. The yellow one—she was the closest—murmured something in her language, but it was lost on me. None of them could understand me. I growled again, louder this time, a warning to stay away. They flinched, but they didn’t leave. The silence between us stretched longer than I liked. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 6 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 6 (Rainbow Dash's pov) “Screw this, this kid needs help,” Rainbow Dash said, determination flashing in her magenta eyes. Before anypony could react, she zipped forward in a blur of color, scooping the colt up into her forelegs. “Rainbow, wait—!” Fluttershy’s voice barely had time to leave her mouth before it happened. The colt’s head snapped up like a wild animal caught in a trap. His teeth bared in an instant, sharp and unhesitating, and before Rainbow could even register what was happening, he lunged—jaws aiming right for her throat. “Whoa—what the heck?!” Rainbow shouted, twisting just in time to avoid the bite. But the colt wasn’t done. He thrashed violently in her grasp, his small but powerful wings flaring wildly as he kicked and snapped at her hooves. His snarls were guttural, feral, nothing like any normal foal’s cry. Rainbow gritted her teeth, struggling to hold onto him. “This kid is crazy strong—like, really freaking strong!” she said, wincing as he raked a hoof against her chest. His movements were wild and unpredictable, each strike fueled by sheer survival instinct. “Rainbow, put him down before he—” Twilight started, but Rainbow didn’t get the chance. With a powerful jerk, the colt freed one hoof and struck her shoulder hard, making her yelp in surprise. He twisted, his teeth barely grazing her foreleg as she instinctively let go. In a split second, he was dropping toward the ground, his wings flapping unevenly as he tried to steady himself— Only for Twilight’s horn to glow, and a shimmering violet forcefield snapped around him midair. The colt slammed into the magic barrier with full force, snarling and baring his teeth like a caged wolf. He twisted, kicking and ramming his body against the transparent walls, his green eyes wide with panic. Twilight winced as he thrashed, the sheer force of his movements making her magic flicker. “Geez, Twilight, hurry up! He’s going nuts!” Rainbow said, rubbing her sore shoulder. “I’m trying—just give me a second!” Twilight gritted her teeth, reinforcing the spell as the colt continued his desperate struggle. Fluttershy stepped closer, her ears pinned back with worry. “Oh, the poor thing… he’s terrified…” she murmured. Rarity, who had been silent until now, took a hesitant step forward, watching the colt carefully. “Darlings, are we absolutely sure this is a pony?” she asked, her voice uneasy. The colt, still trapped in the magic field, froze at the sound of her voice. His ears flicked back, his breathing ragged. He looked between them, chest rising and falling quickly, his body tensed like he was preparing for another fight. “Of course he’s a pony!” Applejack said, though her expression was uncertain. “He’s just… different.” Twilight swallowed, staring at the young Pegasus still baring his teeth at them. “Different doesn’t even begin to describe it.” "I think we should take him to the ponyville hospital" Twilight said " he clearly needs help, and I don't think anyone one of us is qualified to take care of a severely mentally unstable foal" with that they all agreed in a flash of light Twilight teleported to the hospital. ======================================================================== My vision twisted and blurred. One second, I was surrounded by trees, the scent of the forest still clinging to my fur. The next, I was somewhere else entirely—bright, sterile, unnatural. The shock hit me like a falling stone. My stomach twisted, and for a brief moment, my body felt weightless, like I was plummeting from the sky. Then, the world snapped back into place. Everything was wrong. The air smelled strange—too clean, too artificial. The sounds were different—no rustling leaves, no distant howls of my pack. Instead, there were voices. Unfamiliar voices. I spun inside my prison, my wings flaring as I slammed against the glowing wall surrounding me. My hooves struck hard, but the barrier didn’t give. Trapped. I was trapped again. Panic clawed at my chest. My breathing quickened. No. No, I wouldn’t let them keep me here. The purple one—the one who stole me—was moving quickly through the strange place, her eyes locked ahead as she pushed forward. I snapped my teeth at the barrier, letting out a furious snarl. She flinched but didn’t stop. They were taking me somewhere. But why? Then we stopped. Another creature stood before us. Taller, white, with a strange cloth wrapped around its body. It smelled like chemicals and something sharp—something unnatural. The purple one spoke first. “Tahoe that do toth do gain.” The sounds meant nothing. I bared my teeth, ears pressing flat against my head. My body was tense, ready to fight if I had to. The white one’s eyes widened, its mouth moving. More meaningless sounds. “Though doing toe, shut it a.” Then, it moved toward me. I tensed. It lifted a hoof, reaching out. No. I lunged. My body slammed against the barrier with a force that made the purple one stumble, her horn flickering for just a second. The bubble held firm, but I didn’t stop. I struck again, baring my fangs, letting out a deep, guttural snarl. The white one recoiled. The purple one said something quickly, its voice high and panicked. I didn’t care. They weren’t my pack. They weren’t my family. I wouldn’t let them take me. Not again. Never again. ======================================================================== (Twilight's pov) Twilight burst through the hospital doors, her hooves striking the floor in a frantic rhythm. The glowing sphere of magic containing the colt pulsed with energy as he thrashed inside, snarling and slamming against its walls. The door banged against the wall behind her, making Nurse Redheart flinch at the sudden noise. She turned sharply, already scowling—until she caught sight of what Twilight had brought with her. The colt. His fur was matted, streaked with dried blood, and his wild green eyes darted around the unfamiliar space with pure, unfiltered panic. His hooves struck the magic barrier with such force that each impact sent ripples through the glowing surface. His teeth bared in a silent snarl, his small, ragged form coiled like a cornered animal ready to lash out. Redheart's breath hitched. "Twilight," she said, her voice low, warning. "This is unethical. You know that." Twilight grimaced. "I didn’t have a choice! He’s completely feral—he tried to attack my friends! This was the only way to contain him without hurting him or anyone else." Redheart’s expression darkened. "He's a foal, Twilight. A foal! You can't just—" The nurse reached a hoof toward the magical prison. A blur of motion. The colt lunged, slamming against the glowing surface with a snarl so fierce that Redheart stumbled backward, her breath catching in her throat. For a moment, raw animalistic fury filled his eyes, his lips curled back to reveal sharp, predatory teeth. Twilight swallowed hard, her ears flattening as sweat dripped down her temple. Rainbow had been right—this colt was terrifyingly strong. Redheart steadied herself, eyes never leaving the foal. She turned sharply, pressing a button on the intercom. "Doctor Stable, I need immediate assistance at the front desk," she said, her voice firm but edged with unease. Twilight forced a nervous smile. "I—I swear, I wouldn’t have brought him in like this if I didn’t think he was dangerous." The colt was still growling, his gaze flicking between the ponies in the room, muscles tensed as if waiting for the moment they would strike. And Twilight couldn't shake the feeling that, in his mind, they already had. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 7 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 7 (Twilight's pov) Twilight let out a weary sigh as she finally released her magical hold on the colt. The moment her magic dissipated, the wild Pegasus thrashed violently, his hooves kicking out as a feral snarl ripped from his throat. His ragged wings flared instinctively, though they were too unkempt and weak to provide any real resistance. Doctor Stable and the orderlies wasted no time in stepping forward, their movements cautious yet firm. The colt bucked and twisted, his body contorting in a desperate attempt to break free, but the stallions were larger, stronger. His hooves scraped uselessly against the pristine hospital floor as they dragged him toward the back, his growls echoing through the sterile halls. Twilight watched, her ears pinned back as a heavy weight settled in her chest. What happened to him? she wondered, her mind racing with questions. He was a pony, yet he behaved more like a wild animal, driven purely by instinct and fear. Had he truly lived his whole life like this? Alone? With no language, no family, no guidance? “He’s in good hooves, Twilight,” Nurse Red heart reassured, her voice firm but not unkind. She had seen countless difficult cases, but even she looked troubled by the colt’s state. “We’ll do everything we can to help him.” Twilight swallowed, nodding slowly. The logical part of her mind knew he needed professional care, but doubt still gnawed at the edges of her thoughts. Was this really the right way to handle things? Would he ever understand that they were trying to help him? Still, there was nothing more she could do at the moment. With one last glance toward the hallway where the colt had disappeared, Twilight took a deep breath and lit her horn. In a flash of violet light, she vanished, leaving the hospital behind. Hours later Castle of friendship Six ponies sat around the large crystal table in Twilight’s castle, their voices overlapping in heated discussion. The tension in the room was thick as they debated what to do next. "I’m telling you, this is a bad idea," Rainbow Dash said, crossing her forelegs with a frustrated huff. "Did you see how strong he was? That’s not normal!" She gestured vaguely toward the hospital, as if the colt’s unnatural strength still lingered in the air. Fluttershy, sitting quietly until now, finally spoke up, her voice gentle but firm. "I think he deserves to be helped," she said, her teal eyes filled with sympathy. "I agree with Fluttershy!" Pinkie Pie chimed in, bouncing slightly in her seat. "He just needs some TLC—and maybe a big Welcome-To-Ponyville party!" "And a bath," Rarity added with a dramatic shudder. "Who knows how long that poor foal has been trapped in that dreadful wilderness? The state of his mane alone is an absolute tragedy." Rainbow groaned, rubbing her face with a hoof. "That’s not what I meant!" she said in exasperation. "I just think the hospital is probably the best place for him right now. They can handle him better than we can." Applejack had been silent up until now, listening carefully to everypony’s opinions. She finally sighed and leaned forward, placing her hooves on the table. "I dunno, Rainbow. I think somepony other than the hospital should be the one to help him." The others turned to look at her in surprise. "What do you mean, darling?" Rarity asked, raising a delicate brow. Applejack hesitated for a moment before continuing. "Look, we all know the hospital here ain’t exactly equipped for somethin’ like this. They do their best, but let’s be honest—they’ve never dealt with a foal who thinks he’s a wild animal. I ain’t sure they’ll be able to get through to him." Twilight let out a tired sigh, rubbing her temples. "Have you girls forgotten that he acts like an animal?" she said, her frustration evident. "He doesn’t just need a home—he needs real help. We don’t even know if he can be reasoned with!" Before anypony could respond, the sound of the door opening drew their attention. Spike waddled in, balancing a tray of sandwiches. He arched a brow at the sudden silence. "Uh... did I miss something?" he asked as he set the tray down on the table. "Spike! Great timing!" Twilight said, perking up. "It is?" he asked skeptically. "Why?" "We were just discussing what to do about the colt," Twilight explained. "We can’t decide whether somepony should take him in or if he should stay at the hospital." Spike blinked. "Oh, you mean the one that acts like a dog?" "Spike!" Fluttershy scolded, shooting him a disapproving look. "What? That’s what he does!" Spike defended himself, holding up his claws. "He growls, bites, and howls at the moon! He’s like Winona, but, y’know... angrier." Twilight sighed but didn’t argue the point. "That aside, we still don’t know if he can be helped." Spike tapped his chin in thought before snapping his claws. "Wait, Twilight! What about that new memory spell you were working on? The one that lets you see into somepony’s past? Maybe that could tell you whether or not he can be helped." Twilight’s eyes widened. "Spike, that’s brilliant! Why didn’t I think of that?" Pinkie suddenly squinted her eyes and glanced suspiciously around the room. "Yeah... it is brilliant. Too brilliant," she muttered. Every pony stared at her. "Almost like... it’s a plot device like the author was to lazy to think of something else," she added ominously. Rainbow Dash tilted her head. "Uh... what?" "Oh, nothing!" Pinkie chirped, waving a hoof dismissively. "Let’s go get that spell!" Twilight rolled her eyes but smiled. "Alright, every pony. Let’s head to the library. If this works, we might finally get some answers." With that, the six friends stood up, determination settling over them as they prepared to uncover the truth behind the strange colt from the Everfree. ======================================================================== I thrashed violently against the creatures holding me down, my heart hammering in my chest. Their hooves pressed against my limbs, pinning me to the strange, stiff surface beneath me. Panic surged through my veins as I struggled, snarling and baring my teeth at them. One of them made the mistake of getting too close. I snapped my jaws at him, aiming for his leg, but before I could sink my teeth in, something was forced over my mouth. A thick, scratchy strap tightened around my muzzle, locking it shut. I growled in frustration, my breath coming out in ragged huffs through my nostrils. I kicked and writhed, trying to break free, but more hooves held me down. Restraints wrapped around my legs, binding them to the bed beneath me. No matter how much I fought, I couldn’t move. I was trapped. A sharp prick in my leg made me jolt. My vision swam as a strange sensation washed over me, dulling my movements. My body grew heavy, my struggles weakening with each passing second. No! I couldn’t let them do this! I couldn’t— My head lolled to the side as the world around me blurred and darkened. The last thing I saw was their blurry faces watching me as everything faded into nothing.
