It's been three months since the pony known as "Shire" left town and promptly disappeared. The Princess is holding a party in celebration of Nightmare Night, which is but a few days away. Twilight Sparkle, almost unsurprisingly, has been invited to this event. Little does anypony know, a plot shall be put into action that, should it succeed, will result in the Princess being overthrown.
Also, a grieving stallion comes to Ponyville to "reclaim what belongs to them".
