Pipsqueak and seven other fillies wake up to find themselves inside of an enormous machine of metal and gears. With no idea where they are or how they got there, they form an uneasy party and search for the way out, but they are quick to discover that space works differently in this place: One can walk in a straight line and end up back where they started, a corridor can make too many turns in one direction without running into itself, and strange shapes of light and shadow float through the air around them. Levers and switches hidden within the alien structure either help the fillies find their way out or activate deadly traps that force them to sacrifice life and limb to escape. Stuck in this dangerous place with squabbling ponies that he barely knows, Pipsqueak finds himself tasked with leading everypony to the exit–and keeping them from killing each other before then.
