Eyes Of Crimson

**Chapter 4

PAAAARTY TIME**

“You notice that feeling inside of you?”

“Y-yeah, it’s weird but it feels so.... welcoming”

“That’s your true magic Shade, if you can utilize it, you can do an infinite amount of things.”

“H-how do I do it?”

“You’ll learn in time kid.”

Shade groaned as his head ached from the dream, although he could only hear voices it seemed so.... familiar.

Shrugging it off as a one time thing Shade proceeded downstairs to see if Vinyl was awake.

As they had arrived the night before Vinyl had found a note from Octavia stating that she would be in Canterlot for the next few days, wherever that was. After Vinyl discovered this information she stated that, “‘Tavi is in for a treat when she comes back.”

Shade reached the kitchen to find a note on the table:

Gone out

Had some work to do

Help yourself (Top cupboard on the right)

• Vinyl

Shade chuckled, she did have a job to do and apparently being a DJ was a busy one. He looked around the house for Star but he didn't seem to be anywhere in the house. Shrugging it off he checked for food, the cupboard was packed with muffins, crisps (That’s chips to you americans) and many bottles of Mountain Dew.

“Seems legit.” He thought grabbing one of each and slouching on the couch she had in the other room. He was halfway through his makeshift meal when a loud crashing noise was heard from outside. Shade dashed through the door to meet a agitated looking Star staring at a crater in the middle of the field.

“Er... do I have to ask?”

“No Shade, no you don’t, come on I want to take a look round town.” His brother told him as he headed down the path next to the house that leaded into Ponyville. Shade shook his head and followed him as they entered the town, not many ponies were to been seen, for some strange reason everypony was missing. It was as if they had deserted the town.

“Where the heck is everypony?” asked Star.

“Er... holiday?” Shade guessed.

He sighed “Let’s go look around for them then.” He said trotting towards town hall.

Shade followed suit as they both went around town searching for everypony, they were about to give up when they noticed a blue shape followed by a grey shape moving towards them.

“Is that Navy? HEY NAVY OVER HERE!” Shade shouted to him

“Finally I found you two, me and Gray have been looking for you all morning.” He told them as he approached.

“Gray?” Shade asked noticing the unicorn behind Navy, his mane was a darker grey than his light grey coat, his eyes were a hazel brown underneath the pair of glasses he wore.

“Hey ,I’m Gray Matter.”

“Hi.” Shade replied. “Well Navy do you know where everypony went?”

“No I don’t actually.” He told them. “I came back after showing Gray around and suddenly everypony was missing.”

“Hmm maybe we should check Sugarcube corner. I heard that some ponies were heading over there for something yesterday.” Suggested Star. A look of sudden realisation appeared on Navy’s face for a moment, but was dispelled as quickly as it came.

“What’s wrong Navy?” asked Shade.

“What? Um nothing, nothing is wrong.” Navy told Shade unconvincingly.

“Okay...” Shade shook his head, Navy was hiding something but he couldn’t work out what, he decided to question him later after they had checked Sugarcube corner.

A quick trip to Sugarcube Corner

“Am I the only one who wonders how in Tartarus did they make a house of gingerbread?” Asked Shade.

“Actually, now that you mention it, it is quite surprising how no one ever asks that... Or how it hasn’t been eaten yet.” Replied Gray.

“Let’s just see if anypony is here and we’ll be on our way.” Shade trotted up to the door of the oversized treat and stuck his head in.

“SURPRISE!!!”

Shade, Star and Gray almost had a heart attack as the entire town was crammed into the store.

“Woah what the buck?!” Star exclaimed, suddenly the pink pony from yesterday came from seemingly nowhere and jumped in front of the three.

“Hi I’m Pinkie Pie and I threw this awesome party for you guys isn’t this great we’ve never had THREE ponies visit Ponyville before!” the pink pony exclaimed at hyperspeed.

“Er... Yeah, so you set this entire thing up in one day?” asked Shade

“YEAH Everypony comes to a Pinkie Party!” Pinkie cheerily stated.

“What about Ice?” called Snow. Pinkie replied by pulling Ice from behind a table

“WOAH What the buck?” Asked Ice.

“Two words Ice, Pinkie Pie” Navy told him. Ice decided to ignore the fact he was dragged out of thin air and joined the party.

Shade wasn’t sure what he should do, on one hoof he could meet some new ponies and probably get a few memories back, on the other hoof he could look around for Vinyl.

“YO SHADE OVER HERE!” Called a voice. He looked over towards a mini stage set up with Vinyl behind some turntables.

“Hey Vi what’s going on?” He asked, she flashed him a smile and gestured towards the crowd.

“Well obviously the crowd wants to hear some beats, wanna help me give em what they want just like old times?”

Shade thought the offer over, although he would love to take her up on that offer he also had very little memories and could probably not play music like he used to, that was when a feeling hit him, the same feeling he felt when he remembered Star, it was a memory, suddenly he was hit with a huge headache as a song entered his mind.

A smile crept upon his face. “Sure, but let me take this one, I want to try something.” (Okay I’ll admit I don’t fully know how DJ’ing works but deal with it) taking place at the turntables Shade started to play his song.

Cut to end of track

Everypony went wild by the end of the song, cheering for an encore, Shade turned to Vinyl who nodded and took over.

“Alright everypony, Shade is done for now so let’s give him a rest.” She said to the crowd.

Shade got down from the stage and headed over to where he saw Navy and Snow talking.

The two seemed to be engrossed in their conversation so he decided to look around for more ponies to talk to.

Unfortunately he wasn't in the mood for conversing with random strangers out of the blue, sighing he slowly slipped out to the back of the bakery and sat down outside, calming himself with the sounds around him.

"You never were the social type." Came a familiar voice. Shade looked to the corner of his eye to see his brother standing there smirking.

"There's a lot you haven't told me about myself you know."

"Yeah well... I was kinda hoping it would all come back to you, looks like that bastard hit you hard."

Shade perked up. "What bastard?"

His brother sighed in defeat "You didn't lose your memory through a bump on the head Shade, your memories were stolen by a spell."

“Why would somepony steal my memories?”

“Well you see...” Star started before Pinkie burst outside and landed in front of the two

“Hey guys! What'cha doin’ outside when the party’s in there?” She asked pointing a hoof towards the door.

“Oh hey Pinkie, I guess we should really go back.” Shade got up to head back in when suddenly another dose of pain shot through his head, only this time it was different.

After the pain subsided he opened his eyes, hiding his expression behind his sunglasses.

“You okay bro?” Star asked him with a look of concern.

“Y-yeah... I think so.”

Star shook his head and walked past his brother. “I probably should have told you this before, but when you finally get your memories back it’s gonna hurt like a bitch.”

“No shit Sherclop.” Shade muttered under his breath. As the two headed inside they saw Vinyl had racked up quite a crowd, ponies were pumping their hooves in the air chanting her name.

“ALRIGHT EVERYPONY! Are you ready for some more beats?” The crowd cheered in response. “THEN LET’S DROP THIS BEAT!”

Shade smiled at the sight, he sat down at one of the tables that were conveniently around

“Hey you’re Shade right?” A voice next to him called, looking over Shade could see a blue unicorn with a pale white mane coming towards him, the unicorn’s eyes were hidden behind a pair of aviators.

“Er, yeah that’s me.”

“Leaf Disc.” The unicorn said holding out his hoof. “Aka DJ INS4NITY.”

“You’re a DJ as well?” Shade asked him curiously

“Pretty much, I came here to come visit Vinyl but I wasn’t expecting YOU to be here.”

“What’s so special about me?”

“Oh dude, she wasn’t kidding when she said you can’t remember anything was she?” Disc face hoofed in frustration.

“Pretty much.”

“Dude you were awesome when you played, you, Vinyl and your bro were the best in Manehattan. You should come by my place later and I’ll show you what I mean.”

“Okay... if it’ll get my memories back I’ll do it.”

“Great, just ask Vinyl where I live and I’ll see you tomorrow.” He said as he trotted off somewhere “Oh and also could you ask Octavia if she could help me out when she comes back!”

“Will do.” Shade told him, looking back at the crowd a smile crept up of his face, this was going to be a LONG night.

“Sir the soldiers are here”

“Excellent, did they find him?”

“Yes sir... but there’s a problem”

“what...kind of problem”

“The soldiers are back.... But only one of them is breathing.”

“WHAT!? I should have known better to send simple assassins after him... No matter, what of the nightwing brothers?”

“We have dispatched scouts to follow their movements before we strike.”

“Good, I want them DEAD understand?”

“Yes master.”

FINALLY I managed to get the chapter done, shoutout to Leafz pegasus and Gray matter cos they’re awesome
