Manehatten was a large city, home to several of society's elite. Ponies here were fit and proper, and the parties they threw were just as fancy.
One of these parties was happening right now.
The oranges were throwing a get-together to help their visiting niece learn how to be a "proper pony". The oranges invited several of their friends and associates. Only one of these guests was unhappy to be there.
A young caramel colored colt, not yet found his cutie mark with a brown mane andwearing a tie sat against a wall as the party happened around him. His name was Caramel. He was dragged to the party by his parents, the founders of a wealthy caramel factory. The young colt detested these sorts of parties.
"Im so bored." Grumbled caramel.
Caramel hadn't seen any other ponies his age at the party.
"Why did mom and dad even bring me here?" Thought Caramel.
Caramel decided to get up and move to a different spot.
"Really hope we go home early......" Thought Caramel.
Caramel stopped as he noticed a particular pony in the crowd. She was a filly his age. Her coat was orange and her mane was a bright golden yellow. Caramel stared at the filly.
"Shes......"
The filly looked around to see if anypony was watching her. she didnt do too good a job though, considering she didnt notice caramel.
"Beautiful."
Caramel was smitten with the orange filly, and he didnt even know her name.
The filly snuck towards the door leading out of the room and managed to slip out. Caramel decided to follow her. She went down the stairs and towards the front door. She opened the door and stepped outside. Caramel followed her up to the door and peeked his head out the doorway.
"Who is she?" Thought Caramel.
The filly Whipped her forehead with her hoof. Then spoke to herself in an accent caramel was unfamiliar with.
"Phew, these fancy parties are tiring." Said the filly.
"Tell me about it." Muttered Caramel.
The orange filly heard Caramel and turned around to see Caramel in the doorway.
"Oh sorry." Said Caramel. "Ill just be going."
"Hold up." Said the filly." Ah just need some fresh air. Your free to stay."
"Thanks." Said caramel.
Caramel stepped outside next to the orange pony.
"Call me applejack." Said the filly.
"Im caramel." Said Caramel.
Applejack looked at the night sky.
"All these stars reminds my of mah home." Said Applejack.
"Wheres that?". Asked Caramel.
"A nice little town called Ponyville." Replied Applejack. "Ahm staying with mah aunt and uncle orange for awhile."
Caramel decided to change the subject.
"I like your mane." Said Caramel.
Applejack sighed.
"Mah aunt did this. Im not too fond of this Manehatten stuff." Said applejack.
Caramel put on a smile.
"Me neither!" Said Caramel gleefully.
It was true, Caramel did not enjoy the fancy things about Manehatten.
Applejack chuckled.
"Ya know, your the first pony ah met here that isnt all stuck up and fancy." Said applejack.
She smiled at caramel.
"Your pretty cool yourself." Said Caramel.
Applejack walked up closer to Caramel. the colt didnt have time to say another word, The next thing he knew he felt a pair of orange lips against his own. Caramel's eyes widened with surprise. She was kissing him, On the lips! Caramel blushed heavily as applejack broke the kiss.
"Thanks sugarcube." Said applejack.
She walked back into the building, leaving Caramel to process what had just happened.
"She kissed me." Said Caramel. "A filly kissed me on the lips!"
Caramel walked back inside with a smile on his face. He was in love with applejack.
The next day, Caramel went to see Applejack. However when he reached the orange residence, the Oranges told caramel that Applejack left to go home. This was his first heartbreak.
In the next eleven years, Caramel finished his schooling, and found his cutie mark. Upon graduating Caramel had decided what he wanted to do. He wanted to go to Ponyville.
When he told his parents, they were not too pleased with his decision to stray from the family business, but they respected his choice of action. They even purchased him a home within Ponyville. With his belongings packed, Caramel got on a wagon to Ponyville.
The wagon reached a halt in front of a large red barn. The pony pulling it Whipped the sweat off his forehead.
"Here we are." Said the pony. "Id get you into town, but my kid's birthday is in a few minutes."
Caramel stepped out of the wagon with his belongings and gave the pony a tip.
"Its alright." Said Caramel. "Ill ask for directions here and walk there."
"With all that luggage?" Asked the pony.
"I like heavy lifting." Said Caramel with a smile.
The pony pulled the wagon away as caramel looked at the barn.
"Never been to a barn." Muttered caramel.
Caramel dragged his luggage towards the farm.
"Sure looks nice." Thought caramel.
Caramel set his luggage by the barn and walked up to the front door, then knocked on it.
"One sec!" Said a voice in a country accent.
Caramel recognized the accent as the one Applejack had.
"Couldnt be her. " muttered Caramel.
The door opened and on the other side stood a mare that Caramel recognized as Applejack. She was roughly Caramel's size, had her cutie mark and wore a brown stenson hat. Caramel looked with surprise.
"Applejack?" Said Caramel.
Applejack smiled.
"I take it we met before." Said Applejack.
"Its me Caramel."
Caramel smiled back.
"From Manehatten."
Applejack's eyes widened slightly.
"Ah cant believe ya remembered me." Said Applejack.
Caramel was still smitten by the orange mare.
"So you live here?" Asked Caramel.
Applejack nodded.
"Lets talk inside sugarcube." Said Applejack.
She lead Caramel towards the farmhouse.
Applejack and Caramel talked with eachother. When Caramel mentioned he was moving into Ponyville, Applejack offered him a job on the farm as a field hand. Caramel happily accepted the offer. After their talk, Applejack gave Caramel directions to town and a cart to carry his luggage. Caramel felt better than he had ever felt before.
Four years later......
Caramel and a grey colt with a black mane were fixing up a picket fence. The colt was Lucky, Caramel's close friend and fellow field hand. The two talked with one another has they worked.
"So then the mare gets up and slaps the poor guy and im just laughing my flank off." Said lucky.
Caramel chuckled.
"Hate to be him." Said Caramel.
Caramel picked up a hammer in his mouth and hammered a nail into the fence.
"And the best part is, I didnt have to pay for the meal." Said Lucky.
Caramel set the hammer down and stepped back.
"Think were done." Said Caramel.
Lucky began putting the tools they were using into a nearby wagon.
"So any plans for the weekend?" Asked Caramel.
"Carrot top and her sister invited me for dinner." Said Lucky.
Despite his employer's feud with the carrot family, Lucky was good friends with the local carrot farmer, Carrot Top.
"Dont get why you haven't asked her out yet." Said Caramel.
Lucky looked at Caramel.
"And your one to talk." Said Lucky. "Ill ask her out when you ask out Aj."
Lucky was one of a select few ponies who knew of Caramel's crush on Applejack.
"Im waiting for the right time." Said Caramel.
Lucky hitched himself to the wagon and the two began to walk towards the farm.
"Well so am I." Said Lucky. "Plus if the boss found out i was dating their rival ill get fired."
They chatted for the remainder of the walk there. Once they reached the farm Caramel noticed applejack's older brother Big macintosh moving a barrel of apples.
Caramel got along very well with Applejack's family. Her grandmother, granny smith practically treated him like one of the family. Applebloom, Applejack's younger sister enjoyed hearing Caramel talk about his days in Manehatten. Big mac however, Caramel didn't talk to him alot but Big Mac still saw Caramel as a good pony.
Big mac set the barrel down and looked at Caramel and Lucky.
"All set for the day." Said Lucky.
Big mac nodded.
"Looks like it." Said Big Mac. "Have a nice weekend."
Lucky began walking away while Caramel remained.
"So how are things going?" Asked Caramel.
"Good." Replied Big mac.
"Thats nice." Said Caramel. "Say hi to Applejack for me."
Caramel began to walk towards the direction of ponyville.

"So i have nothing to do this weekend." Said caramel.
Caramel was in a pub in Ponyville called "The Salt Lick." He sat at a table in the corner with four other stallions.
In addition to Lucky, Caramel had four other friends that he would hang out with. The first was a blue earth pony with a music note for a cutie mark. His name was Noteworthy, a local songwriter. The second was a black pegasus with a mohawk and a could with a thunderbolt for a cutie mark. He was Thunderlane, a weather pony. The third was a yellow unicorn with a bluish mane and a shooting star for a cutie mark. He was Comet tail, an astronomer from canterlot who moved to ponyville a year ago. The last was a blue unicorn with a white mane and a saftey pin for a cutie mark. He was Pokey Pierce, a pony known for his sharp horn.
"Again?" Asked Noteworthy.
"Thats the third weekend in a row." Said Comet tail.
Thunderlane took a long sip of his cider.
"Luck said hes going to Carrot top's for dinner." Said Caramel.
"Maybe you should go out on a date this weekend." Suggested Pokey.
Caramel took a quick sip of his club soda.
"Im not letting you guys pick out another blind date for me." Said Caramel, annoyed.
Last hearts and hooves day they talked caramel into going out on a blind date with a pegasus named Wind whistler. Caramel did not enjoy it.
"Maybe Applejack would be interested." Said Noteworthy in a smug tone.
Caramel blushed.
"Why you gotta be like that to me?" Asked Caramel. "Why not Comet?"
Comet nearly choked on his cider.
"Im not sure what your talking about." Said Comet tail, nervously.
"Well you might want to ask her out soon Mel." Said Thunderlane. "Somepony might beat ya to it."
Caramel took another sip of his drink.
"Thunderlane is right ya know." Said Noteworthy. "Better get started before you loose her."
Caramel finished his drink.
"Fine." Said Caramel. "Ill go talk to her after i rest a bit at home."
Caramel got up and left.
"Hes going to fail." Said Thunderlane.
"Big time." Added Noteworthy.
Caramel walked up to the front door of his house and walked inside. The building itself was somewhat roomy, Caramel's parents definitely paid their money's worth. Caramel let out a yawn as he walked up the stairs to his room.
"Shoot im tired...." Muttered Caramel.
Caramel opened the door to his room and flopped onto his bed.
"Just need an hour of sleep." Thought Caramel.
Caramel shut his eyes and dozed off.
Caramel walked through sweet apple acres.
"Wheres Everypony?" Thought Caramel.
Caramel approached one of the several barns located on the orchard. Caramel opened the front door and looked inside. Inside the barn was a party. A disco ball spun around on the ceiling, a snack table was set up on the side, and a dj on a turntable was playing an upbeat song. Ponies inside socialized and danced, all dressed in suits and dresses.
"Huh." Muttered Caramel.
Caramel stepped inside and looked down. Caramel noticed that he was wearing a dress shirt, a black suit jacket, and a green tie.
"When did this get there?" Thought Caramel.
"There ya are!"
Caramel looked to the source of the voice. It was Applejack. She was dressed in her gala dress.
"Yer a little late." Said Applejack.
"I didnt know there was a party going on." Replied Caramel.
Applejack smiled and laughed.
"Least yer here now." Said Applejack.
The dj stopped the current song and put on a slow song. Ponies began pairing up and began slow dancing. Caramel realized that he and Applejack were the only two not dancing.
"Are ya gunna dance with me or not silly." Said Applejack.
Caramel blushed a deep red as Applejack put one hoof on Caramel's shoulder and another on his back. Caramel nervously put his front hooves around her and they began dancing.
Caramel stared into Applejack's green eyes.
"Theres something I want to tell you." Began Caramel.
Before Caramel could finish, he heard a loud crash.
Caramel jumped from his bed, startled by the crash.
"What the!?"
Caramel looked out his bedroom window and saw a wagon crashed into a fruit stand, with two ponies shouting at eachother next to it.
"Wait." Thought Caramel. "Its morning!"
Caramel facehoofed himself he overslept and didnt get to ask out Applejack.
"Darn it!" Yelled Caramel.
Caramel felt his stomach growl and sighed.
"Well, ill try later today." Said Caramel. "But I need some breakfast.
Caramel didnt feel like cooking, so he decided to eat out. There was a restaurant not too far from his home. Caramel stepped outside, avoiding the wreaked fruit stand and walked towards the restaurant.
"That dream i had....." Thought Caramel. "Wonder what it ment."
Caramel thought about the dream he had and how he danced with Applejack in it. He was so caught up in it that he saw startled when he heard his name being called.
"Caramel!"
Caramel looked and noticed that he was approaching the restaurant and sitting at a table outside with a notebook was Comet tail. Caramel walked up to his friend.
"Morning comet." Said Caramel.
"Morning." Said Comet tail. "Care to join me?"
Caramel smiled and sat at the seat across from Comet tail.
"Whats with the notebook?" Asked Caramel.
"Im going over some notes from last night's star watching." Replied Comet tail.
A waiter walked up to them.
"Ready to order?"
Comet tail looked at the waiter.
"Just a hay omlet and some coffee." Said Comet tail.
"Ill have some pancakes." Said Caramel.
The waiter nodded and walked inside.
"How was last night?" Asked Comet tail.
"Never happened." Said Caramel. "I overslept."
Comet tail set his notebook onto the table.
"Caramel you cant just keep procrastinating on this." Said Comet tail. "Your loosing time-"
Comet tail was cut off when a purple unicorn Caramel recognized as one of Applejack's friends walked by. Comet tail stopped talking and watched as she passed by. Caramel raised a confused eyebrow.
"Comet?"
Comet tail shook his head and looked back at Caramel.
"Sorry, got distracted." Said Comet tail.
"Right......" Said Caramel. "Any interesting finds last night?"
"Not really." Replied Comet tail. "But by the looks of it, theres going to be a meteor shower within the next two months."
Comet reached for his notebook, but accidentally knocked it on the ground. Caramel picked it off the ground and glanced at the page it was on.
"........ Comet."
The page had several doodles of The purple unicorn on it.
"You like Twilight, dont you?" Said Caramel with a smug look on his face.
Comet tail blushed a bright shade of red.
"What-...... No..... Er.... Well."
Caramel chuckled.
"Comet you cant just keep procrastinating on this." Said Caramel. "Your loosing time-"
The waiter walked out and set their meals on the table.
"Enjoy your meal."
The waiter stepped back inside.
"Lets just eat." Said Comet tail, taking his notebook back.
About three hours later, Caramel walked down the road to sweet apple acres. He needed to talk with Applejack. As he approached the farm, he saw Applebloom and her two friends, Scootaloo and Sweetie belle rolling a barrel out of the barn.
"Wonder what they are up to?" Thought Caramel.
Caramel approached the three fillies Applebloom was the first to notice Caramel.
"Howdy Caramel!" Applebloom said in an enthusiastic tone.
"So watcha up to?" Asked Caramel.
It was Scootaloo who answered his question.
"Were going to turn this into a sweet Go-Kart and race it against the Boy's!"
Caramel chuckled.
"Do you have permission to do so?" Asked Caramel.
"Eyup!" Said Applebloom.
The three resumed rolling the barrel away, most likely towards their clubhouse. Caramel smiled.
"Hey Caramel."
Caramel turned around and saw Applejack looking at him.
"Oh hi." Said Caramel.
Caramel's heart melted at the sight of the orange mare.
"Glad ya stopped by." Said Applejack. "Ah need ta ask ya something."
Caramel's heart started beating faster than usual.
"Yeah Aj?"
Time slowed down for Caramel as he waited for Applejack's question.

Time slowed down for Caramel as he waited for Applejack's question.
"Ah need a favor." Said Applejack.
Caramel's spirit lowered slightly at the response.
"What is it?" Asked Caramel.
"Are ya familiar with mah friend Rainbow dash?"
Caramel was familiar with Applejack's circle of friends. There was Twilight sparkle, the mare who passed by earlier. He was a regular visitor to her library. Then there was Rarity, Caramel's neighbor. Out of her five friends Rarity was the one he knew the most about. Then there was Fluttershy, he didnt interact with her very much. There was also Pinkie pie. Everything Caramel knew about her he heard from Pokey, who also happened to be Pinkie's coltfriend. And lastly Rainbow dash, Applejack's best friend. Caramel remembered her easily due to her rainbow mane.
"Parently shes been secretly seeing some pegasus colt." Said Applejack
Caramel raised an eyebrow.
"Go on."
"Well they made their relationship public and he happens to be in town." Continued Applejack. "Could ya bring him with ya to that pub you always go to tonight? He needs to socialize with other colts."
"He doesnt socialize with colts?" Asked Caramel.
"His occupation is full of mare Co-Workers." Replied Applejack. "Can ya help?"
Caramel sighed. If he did this, he wouldn't be able to ask her out. but on the other hoof, he would score some major points.
"Ill bring him down tonight and introduce him to my friends." Said Caramel.
"Thanks mel." Said Applejack.
She gave him a big smile, which Caramel returned.
"Ill send him over to your place at five thirty." Said Applejack. "Ah gotta go. Im supposed to meet Fluttershy."
Applejack walked away. Caramel stared at her untill she vanished out of sight.
"Hope this is worth it." Thought Caramel.
Caramel headed down the road towards a different farm.
Caramel approached the Carrot carrot farm.
Caramel wanted to Talk with Lucky, the grey stallion was often found on Carrot Top's property. Weather it be to lend a hoof on the farm or just to talk with the orange mare.
Caramel knocked on the front door. Carrot top herself answered the door.
"Hi Caramel." Said Carrot top. "If your looking for Lucky, hes inside. Come in."
"Thanks." Said Caramel.
Caramel stepped into the house. Carrot top led him into the living room and saw Lucky sitting on a couch.
"Hey Caramel." Said Lucky.
Caramel took a seat next to Lucky on the couch.
"Ive got a carrot cake in the oven." Said Carrot top. "Your welcome to stay for a slice."
Carrot top walked out of the room.
"Looks like it went well last night." Said Caramel.
Lucky smiled.
"Noi was at a sleepover so it was just me and Carrot." Said Lucky. "We had dinner then we went into the living room and talked for a bit. We lost track of time and fell asleep on the couch."
"So it went well?" Asked Caramel.
"Yep." Replied Lucky.
"Well least one of us had a good night." Said Caramel. "I finally gather up the courage to talk to Aj, and i oversleep."
"Don't feel bad Caramel." Said Lucky. "Theres always tomorrow."
Carrot top walked into the room with a tray that had three slices of carrot cake on them.
"Looks delicious." Said Lucky.
"Thanks." Said Carrot top.
She blushed lightly at the compliment.
"Id like to stay but I should head home." Said Caramel. "Thanks for having me though."
Caramel got up and walked out.
"I overheard Caramel was going to ask out Applejack." Said Carrot top.
"Hope he does." Said Lucky.
Carrot top set the tray on her coffee table and sat next to Lucky.
"Me too, they look like they would make a cute couple."
When Caramel got home, he decided to kill time by reading a book. Before he could get to his copy of "Mice and Mares." He heard a knock on the door.
"Its not five yet." Thought Caramel as he looked up at his clock.
It was 5:00
Caramel opened his front door. On the other side was Comet tail, looking rather frazzled.
"Comet?"
"Caramel I need to talk to somepony." Said Comet tail.
Comet tail walked inside and both stallions sat on Caramel's couch.
"Whats up?" Asked Caramel.
"Its Twilight." Replied Comet tail. "I messed up."
"Calm down." Said Caramel. "Why would you think that?"
"Well I thought Id stop by the library and check out a book." Began Comet tail. "I went in and i accidentally hit her in the face with the door!"
"Accidents happen." Said Caramel.
"It knocked her out cold." Said Comet tail. "And that pet dragon of hers saw the entire thing! Once he tells her then im done for!"
"Relax." Said Caramel. "Its going to be fine."
"Or it wont be."
The two stallions were startled by the unfamiliar voice. They looked around the room untill they noticed a light blue pegasus stallion leaning in the doorway.
"Caramel I think thats a burglar." Said Comet tail.
Caramel got up and walked towards the pegasus.
"Take it your rainbow's Coltfriend." asked Caramel.
"Soarin is my name!" Said the pegasus. "Im kinda famous."
"Never heard of you." Said Comet tail.
"Im co- captain of the wonderbolts." Said Soarin boastingly.
Soarin flexed his wings for effect.
"We dont watch the wonderbolts." Said Caramel.
"Oh....."
Soarin looked around awkwardly.
"Yeah i am Rainbow's Coltfriend." Said Soarin. "You must be Caramel."
"Your kind of early." Said Caramel.
"Eh, never hurts to be early." Said Soarin.
"Guess we could head down there now." Said Comet tail.
Comet got off of the couch.
"Takes ten minutes to go down there anyways. Im Comet tail by the way."
"First rounds on me!" Said Soarin.
The three ponies stepped out of the house.
Half an hour later Caramel and his friends minus Noteworthy had arrived and gotten their drinks. Most of the conversation however, was lead by Soarin. Most of it was Wonderbolts related and only one of them took any real interest in what he was saying.
"You flew through a lightning storm!?" Said Thunderlane.
"In thirty seconds flat!" Added Soarin.
Thunderlane was apparently a huge wonderbolts fan.
"I cant believe you got THE Soarin to be here Mel!" Said Thunderlane.
Pokey took a sip of his cherry flavored drink.
"I heard that you once flew upside down.......... While eatting a pie." Said Pokey.
"A blueberry pie. Thank you very much!" Added Soarin.
Their conversation was interrupted when Noteworthy stomped in with an annoyed look on his face.
"Something wrong Note?" Asked Caramel.
"Yes." Grumbled Noteworthy.
Comet tail slid Noteworthy a drink.
"Got you the usual." Said Comet tail. "Lemonade."
Noteworthy took a large sip of his drink.
"I could t get out of the stupid parchment store fast enough!" Said Noteworthy.
"Is he always like this?" Asked Soarin.
"No hes usually a wuss." Replied Thunderlane.
"This one pony held up the checkout line for THIRTY MINUTES!" Said Noteworthy.
Caramel took a sip of his cider.
"Thirty minutes?" Asked Caramel.
"He couldn't decide weather he wanted white or snow colored paper!"
Soarin took a sip of his grape soda.
"Im Soarin"
"I can tell you exactly what he looked like too!" Said Noteworthy. "The pony who held up the line."
"Maybe it was Written script." Comet tail said.
"He had a purple coat, a pinkish purple mane-"
"Grapes for a cutie mark?" Interrupted Thunderlane.
Noteworthy's eyes widened and his jaw dropped.
"How did you know?" Asked Noteworthy in Surprise.
"His names Purple vineyard." Replied Thunderlane.
Thunderlane took a sip of his cider.
"Largest producer of grapes in ponyville." Thunderlane continued. "Distant cousin of Comet's old pal Golden Grape."
Comet tail frowned angrily at the name.
"He asks for more rainwater than all the other farms get." Said Thunderlane. "His excuse is that his grapes need more water than the other fruits."
"He sounds like a jerk." Said Soarin.
"Hes not." Said Thunderlane. "He just thinks of himself a little higher than others."
"We should TP his house." Suggested Soarin.
"What!?" Said Comet tail.
"Thunderlane knows where he lives right?" Said Soarin. "I can get three packs of toilet paper here within twenty minutes. We TP his farm!"
"Normally id be against this." Said Noteworthy. "But this time im all game!"
"Ill do it." Said Thunderlane.
"This doesn't sound like its a good idea." Said Pokey.
"I agree." added Comet tail.
Caramel thought it over.
"Why not." Said Caramel with a big smile. "I need some action."
Soarin downed the remainder of his beverage.
"Ill be back in twenty minutes." Said
Soarin dashed out of the pub.
"Why did you encourage him Caramel?" Asked Comet tail.
Caramel smirked.
"Why not?"
About forty minutes later the six reached Vineyard's farm. It was a smaller farm than sweet apple acres and all the buildings were purple. Numerous grape vines grew outside
Soarin , Thunderlane, and Caramel wore saddlebags full of toilet paper rolls.
"ready?" Asked Soarin.
"Ready." Caramel replied.
He set his saddle bag on the ground and opened it, revealing a large elastic band inside.
"This is going to be rich." Said Noteworthy.
"Pokey keep watch." Said Soarin.
Pokey nodded and looked towards the road.
Caramel and noteworthy grabbed the elastic band with their mouths while Comet tail floated a roll of toilet paper out of the bag.
"Im not too fond of this." Said Comet tail.
Using the elastic band as a slingshot, Comet launched the roll into the air. It landed in a tree.
"Yeah!" Yelled Thunderlane.
The two pegasi in the group flew over the farm, dropping rolls of toilet paper onto the farm below. Comet launched three more rolls.
"This is foalish." Said Comet tail.
Comet tail launched another roll.
Pokey noticed two figures walking on the road towards the Farm. One held a lantern in its mouth.
"Hide!" Yelled Pokey.
The six stallions hid inside a nearby bush.
"Lets see how he reacts." Said Noteworthy.
The two figures reached the farm and stopped dead in their tracks.
"Aw! Really!?" Yelled one figure.
Caramel assumed that the one yelling was Vineyard.
"Its that pipqueak kid i swear!" Yelled Vineyard.
Noteworthy, Soarin, and Thunderlane broke down laughing.
"Oh celestia this is great!" Said Noteworthy.
"Best prank ive done in months!" Said Soarin.
"ahm sure it was nothing." Said the second figure.
Caramel froze up. He knew that voice. It was Applejack's.
"Aj?" Mumbled Caramel.
Applejack was standing close to Vineyard.
"Relax Vineyard." Said Applejack. "Ah can stop by in the mornin to help ya clean this up."
Applejack appeared to be giving vineyard a warm smile.
"Why is she smiling at him like that?" Thought Caramel.
Thunderlane let out a loud sneeze. Vineyard's head shot up and he looked at the bush.
"I heard that!" Yelled Vineyard.
A panicked look appeared on Soarin's face.
"EVERYPONY RUN!" Yelled Soarin.
The six stallions ran out of the bush and away from the farm.
"Get back here!" Yelled vineyard.
He took a step forward but Applejack grabbed him.
"Let them go Vineyard." Said Applejack. "They had their fun."
The six sat in a field, catching their breath.
"That was awsome." Said Thunderlane.
"You guys are alright." Said Soarin. "I might have to hang with you more often."
Comet tail looked at Soarin with an annoyed expression.
"Why was Applejack there?" Said Caramel.
"Dunno." Said Thunderlane. "But she seemed awful friendly with Vineyard."
Caramel thought it over.
"Ive seem that kind of behavior before." Said Pokey.
"Where?" Asked Noteworthy.
"When I first started dating Pinkie." Replied Pokey.
The realization hit Caramel like a sack of bricks. Applejack was on a date with Vineyard.
"No...." Said Caramel, shocked by his realization.
Comet tail took notice of Caramel's shock.
"You ok Caramel?" Asked Comet tail.
That was the second time Caramel's heart broke.
Caramel wan away from his friends, tears flowing from his eyes. He ran towards ponyville. He just wanted to go home.

Caramel ran into his home and rushed into his room.
"Shes with another stallion." Sobbed Caramel.
Caramel walked up to his nightstand and opened a drawer on it, sobbing as he did so. He took a single object from the drawer. A metal box.
Caramel set the box on the nightstand and opened it. It held three items. The first was a wilted corsage, the second was an apple seed in a small plastic bag with a label on it.
"First seed."
The last item was an old photograph. Caramel took the picture out of the box.
It was a picture taken years ago at the party where he first met and fell in love with Applejack. It was a picture of Applejack smiling while Caramel laughed next to her.
"AJ......." Muttered Caramel.
The tears continued to fall from his eyes. Caramel clutched the picture close to his chest.
"It should have been me!" Sobbed Caramel.
Caramel fell onto his bed and cried himself to sleep, still clutching the picture to his chest.
Caramel was awoken the next morning by a knock on the door.
"Caramel you alright?" Asked a voice that Caramel recognized as Pokey's.
Caramel looked at the picture in his hooves, then got out of the bed and put it back in the box.
"Lets get this over with."
Caramel closed the box and put it back in the drawer. Then with a sigh he trotted downstairs.
"Coming!" Yelled Caramel.
Caramel reached his front door and opened it. On the other side was Pokey and thunderlane.
"You alright mel?" Asked Pokey.
"You kida bolted last night." Said Thunderlane.
Caramel tried to keep his posture.
"Whatever do you mean?" Asked Caramel.
"Dude, we saw Aj with Vineyard." Said Thunderlane.
"I know its hard for you to deal with this but you just have to accept it." Added Pokey.
"Well excuse me for having my heart broken!" Said Caramel.
"Look Caramel." Said Thunderlane "ponies our age go through relationships fast."
"Yeah." Said Pokey. "It wont last long."
"Coming from two ponies who both are in long term relationships, that doesnt help." Said Caramel in a grumpy tone.
Pokey and Pinkie have been dating for almost two years, and Thunderlane was currently in a relationship with a pegasus named Blossomforth whom Thunderlane knew since foalhood.
"Believe me, in a couple of weeks, Vineyard will be just another colt she dated." Said Thunderlane.
"What if I end up being just another colt......" Said Caramel.
Pokey looked at thunderlane.
"I think we are making things worse." Said Pokey.
"Yeah." Replied Thunderlane. "Lets see if we can score some free cupcakes from your marefriend."
The two stallions trotted away.
"Maybe she doesn't like me......" Thought Caramel.
Caramel's ears dropped down sadly.
Caramel decided to talk to somepony he could relate to. That happened to be Lucky. Caramel walked down to Lucky's house.
"Maybe Lucky knows what to do." Thought Caramel.
Caramel approached the front door and knocked.
"One sec!"
Lucky opened the door.
"Hey Caramel." Said Lucky.
Caramel was looking rather glum and down.
"Whats wrong?" Asked Lucky.
Lucky invited Caramel inside and the brown stallion told Lucky about the events that had occurred.
"Sorry mel...." Said Lucky.
"I should have asked her out earlier...." Said Caramel.
"Don't go beating yourself up Caramel." Said Lucky. "Your better than this Vineyard pony."
"If im better, then why did she choose him?" Said Caramel.
"Let me ask you something." Said Lucky. "Did Vineyard fix a barn in an hour?"
"Not that I know of..." Replied Caramel.
"Did Vineyard sacrifice his day off to help Aj build her apple cellar?"
"No-"
"Did Vineyard carry me all the way back to the hotel room that night in Las Pegasus when I was intoxicated and confused!?"
"No."
"Did Vineyard win the annual field hand Horseshoe toss three years in a row!?"
"NO HE DIDNT!" Yelled Caramel.
"Vineyard has nothing on you!" Said Lucky.
Caramel put on a determined look.
"Your right!" Said Caramel.
Caramel looked around the room.
"So what now?" Asked Caramel. "I didnt have anything planned for today."
Lucky raised an eyebrow.
"The bowling alley is open." Said Lucky.
Caramel shrugged.
"I could play a game or two." Said Caramel.
The two stallions trotted out of the house.
After two games of bowling, Caramel left the alley and began his walk home.
"Maybe work tomorrow will clear things up." Thought Caramel.
"No!" Yelled a voice.
Caramel turned to the direction of the sound. It was coming from the nearby hardware store.
"Hm?"
Out of curiosity caramel stepped into the hardware store. Inside he saw Applebloom and her friends with a sack of bits at the counter. The cashier looked angry.
"This isnt enough to pay for your parts." Said the Cashier,
"The sign said-"
Applebloom was cut off by the cashier.
"The sale ended yesterday."
"There a problem here?" Asked Caramel.
The cashier turned to look at him.
"Caramel." Began the cashier.
Caramel was a frequent customer at the store.
"These fillies dont have enough to pay for their items."
Caramel sighed.
"How much do they have?" Asked Caramel.
"20 bits." Replied the Cashier. "They need 15 more."
"Just put whatever the 15 bits on my tab." Said Caramel.
"If you say so." Said the Cashier.
The cashier took the CMC's bits and handed them a large bag. The three walked up to Caramel.
"Thanks mel!" Said Applebloom. "Ah'll pay ya back as soon as ah get the bits!"
"Don't worry about it." Said Caramel. "So whats this stuff for anyways?"
"Its for the kart." Replied Sweetie belle.
"We made the design, we just need to put it together." Said Applebloom.
The other two crusaders loaded the bag into a red wagon outside.
"See ya tomorrow Caramel." Said Applebloom.
Applebloom went to join up with her friends.
"While your here Caramel, is there anything you need to get?" Asked the Cashier.
"Im all set. Thanks though" replied Caramel.
Caramel resumed his walk home.
Caramel was getting ready to leave for the pub. There was a knock on the door.
"Huh?"
Caramel walked up to the door and opened it. Standing outside was Big macintosh.
"Howdy there Caramel." Said Big mac.
"Mac?" Said Caramel. "What brings you here?"
"Well Applebloom told me what ya did earlier. And I came buy to give ya this."
Big mac reached into the saddlebag he was wearing and took out a sack of bits, setting it in Caramel's hoof.
"That should cover the 15 bits." Said Big mac.
"You didn't have to-"
"Its nothing Mel." Said Big mac. "Ah need to get goin, ah promised Aj that Ah would bring some apples to miss Fluttershy."
"Well have a nice night." Said Caramel.
Caramel put the bits into his own saddlebag.
"Eyup. You too." Said Big mac.
Big mac walked away.
"That might be the longest conversation I have ever had with him." Thought Caramel.
It was a quieter night than usual at the pub. Most of his friends were not present this time. Noteworthy apparently had a big song to write, Pokey was helping pinkie babysit the Cake twins, and nopony knew where Comet tail was. Instead it was just him, soarin, Thunderlane, and Thungerlane's marefriend.
It wasnt this first time Thunderlane had brought Blossomforth with him to the pub.
"So then I do a triple loop and BLAM! I vanish into the cloud." Said Soarin, finishing up a story.
"Wow your right Thunderlane." Said Blossomforth. "He does tell great stories."
Thunderlane nodded and took a sip of cola.
"Whats new with you Caramel?" Asked Blossomforth.
"Nothing." Said Caramel.
Caramel noticed Comet tail step into the pub. He took his seat at the table.
"Your here kinda later than usual." Said Thunderlane.
"I had to do something." Said Comet tail.
Blossomforth took a sip of her drink.
"So isnt harvest coming up?" Asked
Every year near the end of fall, the Apple family and their fieldhands would harvest all the trees and store the apples away for the winter. After the end of harvest, there was usually a party to celebrate. Each field hand gets to bring one friend with them.
"Yes it is." Replied Caramel.
"How possible is it to get us into that party?" Asked Thunderlane.
"I kind of already told Comet that he would be my pick." Said Caramel.
"Im going." Said Soarin. "Rainbow is invited and as her coltfriend I get to go with her."
Thunderlane sighed. Caramel looked at the clock.
"I need to get home and sleep." Said Caramel. "I have work tomorrow."
"Night then." Said Comet tail.
Caramel got up and headed home.
Work tomorrow.
Yeah if you didnt know, there is a sister story to this centered around Comet tail and Twilight.
A week had passed since Applejack and Vineyard started dating. Caramel did his best to avoid the two ponies while they were together. His work was sloppier than usual and made more mistakes. But the strangest part was that Caramel still had not been formally introduced to Vineyard.
"So Carrot top was with Derpy for lunch and im watching Noi and Dinky." Said Lucky.
Him and Caramel were pulling a wagon of apples to the barn.
"Then the next thing I know my hoof gets stuck in a large carrot hole."
Caramel sighed.
"Still hooked on Aj?" Asked Lucky.
"I cant let her go Lucky." Said Caramel. "No matter how hard I try."
They reached the barn. Standing next to the barn was the CMC. They had an assortment of tools around them and they were being yelled at by Vineyard.
"Be right back." Said Caramel.
Caramel untied himself from the wagon and approached the four ponies.
"Fillies like you should not be playing with tools!" Yelled Vineyard.
"Well you should have been watching where you stepped!" Replied Applebloom.
"Whats with all the yelling?" Asked Caramel.
"None of your business Farmhand." Said Vineyard.
"He's all mad because he stepped on a nail that we dropped." Said Sweetie belle.
"First off, my name is not farmhand, its Caramel. " Said Caramel. "And second Vineyard stop yelling at these fillies."
"But they-"
"You should have watched where you were going." Interrupted Caramel.
"But-"
"Yeah!" Said the three crusaders in unison.
Vineyard growled angerly.
"I'll let it slide this time, but next time you wont be so lucky...." Said Vineyard.
Vineyard stormed away angrily.
"Thanks for the help." Said Scootaloo.
She turned to look at Applebloom.
"I don't know what your sister sees in him."
"Me either." Said Applebloom.
"Maybe Caramel should be Applejack's coltfriend." Said Sweetie belle.
Caramel froze up and blushed.
"What makes you think that?" Asked Caramel nervously.
"Well your hard working, kind, almost always in a good mood...." Said Sweetie belle.
"And you love apples!" Added Applebloom.
Lucky yelled over to Caramel.
"Hey Caramel we have a job to do!" Yelled Lucky.
"Oh I need to finish up." Said Caramel.
Caramel ran back over to the wagon. As the brown stallion left, Applebloom looked at Sweetie belle.
"You thing my sister and Caramel would be good together?" Said Applebloom.
"Im wondering why they weren't together in the first place." Said Sweetie belle.
The two stallions loaded the last basket of apples into the farm.
"In a little bit all the other trees will be ripe for picking." Said Lucky.
"Yeah." Replied Caramel. "Then the big harvest."
"And the harvest dance." Added Lucky. "Who you bringing?
"I promised Comet tail he would be my choice." Replied Caramel. "Figured he would enjoy the food."
That was not completely true. Comet tail did enjoy the apple family baked goods, but he really chose Comet so he could spend the evening with Twilight sparkle.
"What about you?" Asked Caramel.
"Carrot top." Replied Lucky nonchalantly.
Caramel nearly kicked over a barrel in shock.
"Wha?"
"Im bringing Carrot top." Repeated Lucky.
"What about the carrot-apple feud!?" Said Caramel.
The carrots and the apples had a feud that started years ago when Applejack's great great grandfather got into a fight with Carrot top's Great Great uncle. Since then the two families had been bitter enemies. However Carrot top acted like there was not any sort of feud whatsoever.
"Let me worry about that." Said Lucky.
Caramel looked at the sky, it was almost quitting time.
"Couple more minutes." Said Caramel.
The two stallions were about to head towards the main farmhouse when Big mac approached them.
"Hey there mac." Said Lucky.
"Howdy." Replied Big mac. "Could ya check on granny smith fer me?, ah would do it myself but im exhausted."
"Sure thing." Said Lucky. Lucky walked towards the direction of the main house.
"Now that we're alone, ah need to talk to ya." Said Big mac.
Caramel gulped.
"Wh-what do you mean?" Asked Caramel.
"Mel, ah know your crushing on mah lil sister."
Caramel's eyes widened with shock.
"Wh-wha-how did-"
Caramel was at a loss for words.
"Listen Caramel." Began Big mac. "Ah aint the shiniest apple on the tree, but that does not make me an idiot. Ah see the way you look at her, how you are so eager to impress her, and how your work has gotten sloppier since she started dating Vineyard."
"Mac I-"
"Dont get the wrong idea Mel." Said Big mac. "Ah think your a good, hardworking pony. Vineyard however, he barely does his own work."
Now Caramel was even more surprised.
"Ahm just telling you that you have mah support and approval." Said Big mac.
"Mac......" Began Caramel. "Have you ever wanted something you couldn't have?"
Big mac sighs.
"Actually mel, ah do."
Caramel looked back at the sky.
"Looks like closing time." Said Caramel. "Thanks for the talk."
"Any time." Said Big mac. "Have a nice evening."
Caramel walked away from the farm as Big mac looked into a wide field. Standing in the field was Applejack, Twilight, and Fluttershy. In particular, Big mac was looking at Fluttershy
"Why cant things be less complicated......"
Caramel sat in his home trying to distract himself. He had decided not to join his friends at the pub this evening.
"What to do......."
Caramel got up and walked into his bedroom. He opened his drawer and pulled out his metal box. Caramel opened it up and looked at the items inside. Caramel picked up the wilted corsage, remembering the night he wore it.
Kind of a short chapter. But next we get a good chapter that takes place in the past. Now go watch duck dynasty...... Its a good show.

ONE YEAR AGO........
"Dates?" Said Twilight
She was looking over a letter she had just received from Princess Celestia. Caramel was sitting down and reading a book.
"Im sorry what?" Asked Caramel?
"Celestia sent me tickets to the grand galloping gala." Replied Twilight. "However...."
Twilight levitated out 13 tickets.
"She wants me and my friends to bring dates."
"Who do you intend to bring?" Asked Caramel.
"I dont think Im going to bring a date." Said Twilight. "I would like to spend the gala with Celestia this time."
Caramel set his book in his saddlebag.
"I was heading down to sweet apple acres." Said Caramel. "I could give Applejack her tickets."
"That would be great." Said Twilight as she levitated the tickets into Caramel's bags.
Caramel walked out the door.
When Caramel reached sweet apple acres, Applejack was standing outside, polishing a basket of apples.
"Applejack!" Greeted Caramel.
Applejack looked up.
"Howdy Caramel." Said Applejack.
Caramel walked up to Applejack and gave her the two gala tickets. The country mare raised an eyebrow.
"Two gala tickets?"
"Apparently the Princess wants you to bring a date." Said Caramel.
Caramel was about to step into the farm when Applejack stopped him.
"Hey Caramel." Began Applejack. "Ya wanna go as friends?"
Caramel felt his heart pounding faster.
"M-me?" Asked Caramel.
"Sure, it will be fun." Replied Applejack.
"Sure id like to." Said Caramel.
"Great! We can talk plans later on." Said Applejack.
Caramel stepped into the barn with a Smile on his face.
"Im going to the Gala with Aj." Thought Caramel.
The night of the gala had arrived. Applejack and her friends were at Rarity's getting ready. Caramel arrived first since he lived the closest. Caramel was wearing a black suit jacket with a green tie and vest. He also had a corsage.
"Keep yourself together Mel." Muttered Caramel.
He knocked on the door.
"Gimme a sec!" Called Rarity's voice.
Rarity stepped out of the Boutique dressed in a black dress.
"Ah Caramel, your looking handsome this evening." Said Rarity.
"Thanks, is Applejack ready?"
"Im coming!" Called Applejack.
Applejack stepped out wearing a stunning green dress, along with her usual stenson.
"Wow." Said Caramel. "You look great."
"Thanks Mel." Said Applejack. "The others should be ready soon.
Caramel noticed Pokey approaching wearing a blue suit with a pink tie.
"Hey there Caramel." Said Pokey.
"Theres my Stallion!" Yelled Pinkie.
Pinkie rushed out of the boutique wearing a dress that resembled her previous gala apparel, except in a dark pink.
"Now theres a sexy looking stallion." Said Pinkie. Her eyes fluttered for effect.
Pokey blushed.
"You look good yourself." Said Pokey.
The next stallion that arrived was to Caramel's surprise, Big macintosh wearing an orange suit with a yellow tie.
"Mac?" Asked Caramel.
"Ah talked him into taking Fluttershy." Said Applejack.
"Do I have to go?" Asked Fluttershy.
"Just get out there!" Yelled Rainbow dash.
Rainbow dash dragged Fluttershy outside. Rainbow dash was wearing the same Dress as last year while Fluttershy wore a bright orange dress.
"Um..... You look nice." Said Fluttershy.
"Thanks." Said Big mac.
Twilight stepped out wearing a Purple sparkly dress.
"You two can come out now!" Said Twilight.
Two mares stepped out of the boutique. Caramel recognized them as Lyra and Bon bon. Lyra was wearing a white dress while Bon bon wore a dark bluish-purple dress.
"Twi and I didnt bring dates so we gave our extra tickets to them." Said Rainbow dash.
"Looks like my date just has to arrive." Said Rarity.
As if on cue, Noteworthy stepped in wearing a white tuxedo jacket with a blue vest and a white tie.
"Hey there guys." Said Noteworthy,
Pokey and Caramel looked with suprise.
"How did you get a date?" Asked Pokey,
"She asked very nicely." Replied Noteworthy.
Spike exited the boutique wearing a suit and a top hat.
"We ready to go?" Asked Spike.
Twilight smiled and nodded.
Caramel was not questioning how twilight managed to turn three apples into carriages, but she did and even managed to get a bunch of mice-pony creatures to pull them. They divided themselves amongst the three carriages. Caramel and Aj rode with pinkie and Pokey, Rarity and Noteworthy rode with Lyra and Bon bon, and Big mac and Fluttershy rode with Twilight and Rainbow dash.
"Oh my gosh this is going to be the best night ever! I know I said that last time we were here but this time I really mean it!!!!" Squealed Pinkie.
"Calm down Pinkie." Said Applejack. "Yer gunna get over hyped."
"Its going to be a crazy night trying to keep up with her." Said Pokey.
"But im sure you can do it Pokey bear." Said Pinkie, Cuddling close to the blue unicorn.
"Pokey bear?" Said Caramel, holding back a laugh.
"Save all the lovey dovey stuff for when we aren't here." Said Applejack.
The cartridge neared Canterlot castle, the other two Carriages behind them.
"Here we are." Said Applejack. "Canterlot castle."
"Now this is a Fancy place." Said Pokey.
The carriages stopped outside the castle entrance. Caramel opened the door and let them out. Spike opened the door for his Carriage, and noteworthy did the same for his.
"We made it!" Said Twilight.
"Tonight will simply be divine." Said Rarity.
"I should hope so." Added Bon bon.
Lyra put her front hoof around Bon bon's torso.
"Even if it is, we have been through worse parties." Said Lyra.
"Guess your right." Replied Bon bon.
A white carriage pulls in and the door opens. Two ponies stepped out of the Carriage, a mare and a stallion. Caramel recognized the stallion as Fancy pants, a popular canterlot pony.
"Fancy pants!" Said Rarity.
Fancy looked at Rarity.
"Ah, Rarity, long time no see." Said Fancy pants.
Noteworthy stepped towards Fancy pants.
"Mr pants." Began Noteworthy. "I am Blues Noteworthy, we didn't meet before but your company hired me to write the song at your auction event a month ago."
Fancy pants chuckled.
"Ah yes, that wonderful Little Number." Said Fancy pants. "Its a pleasure to meet you."
They shook hooves.
"Perhaps we can talk later, Me an Fleur must get inside. Always great to see you Rarity."
Fancy pants and the mare Caramel guessed was Fleur went into the castle.
"You worked on a song for fancy pants?" Asked Rarity.
"Yep." Replied Noteworthy.
"Uh guys, we should actually go inside now." Said Rainbow dash.
The ponies (and 1 dragon) stepped into the Castle.
Once they got inside, they all split up. Twilight started looking around for Celestia, Rarity and Noteworthy began to mingle with some of the guests that they knew, Pinkie and Pokey made their way to the dance floor, Fluttershy and Big mac went to the garden to visit the animals, Lyra and Bon bon joined the crowd of guests, Spike wandered around, and Rainbow dash vanished somewhere near the VIP area. Caramel and Applejack just stood there.
"So what now?" Asked Caramel.
"Wanna grab some grub at the buffet?" Said Applejack.
"Sure." Replied Caramel.
They made their way to the buffet. They had a variety of foods and deserts. Applejack raised an eyebrow as she looked at the food.
"Ah dont know what half this stuff is." Said Applejack.
Caramel looked at the food.
"Theres a spinach casserole, a three cheese baked potato, stuffed mushrooms, gourmet pizza, and some kind of a soup....." Said Caramel. "Maybe its tomato and carrot......"
"Wow, how did ya know all that?" Asked Applejack.
"When your from Manehatten like me, you learn this kind of stuff." Replied Caramel.
"Well then, ah aint into all that fancy meals....." Said Applejack. " Ah think thats an apple pie."
Applejack pointed to a pie that had powdered sugar on it.
" looks like it." Said Caramel.
They each grabbed a slice and sat down at a table.
"Well lets see how these Canterlot chefs do with apples." Said Applejack.
They both took a bite and cringed at the bitter taste of their pie.
"This does not taste like apples!" Said Applejack.
"I think I tasted pear in it......" Added Caramel.
"Blech!"
Applejack pushed her plate away from herself.
"Ah just lost my appetite." Said Applejack.
"Same here." Said Caramel.
They got up, leaving behind their pie.
"Ah need some fresh air." Said Applejack.
The two ponies made their way towards the garden.
They stepped into the garden. Suprisingly the only other ponies there were Big mac and Fluttershy. Fluttershy was trying to convince a rabbit to come out of its hole while Big mac just watched.
"They seem to be getting along." Said Caramel.
"Yeah." Said Applejack.
Fluttershy stepped back as the rabbit emerged from its hole.
"We should leave those two alone." Suggested Applejack.
They headed back inside as Big mac smiled at the yellow pegasus.
When they got inside, they noticed Pinkie whispering something to one of the orchestra ponies that was providing music to the event. Pokey stood nearby.
"We might be in for a song." Said Applejack.
Pinkie smiled trotted up to Pokey.
"Whatever they're up to, its about to happen." Said Applejack.
"Should we go back out?" Asked Caramel.
"Lets see what she has planned first." Replied Applejack.
The orchestra stopped playing and the pony Pinkie was whispering to trotted up to a nearby microphone, picking it up in her hooves.
" Ahem, If I could get your attention for a moment!" Said the Pony.
Most of the ponies in attendance turned to look at the Mare.
"We are going to be taking a short break. But while we do so, please enjoy this tune made my my close friend from ponyville, its not what most of you are used to, but it never hurts to try something new."
The pony stepped to the side as Pinkie wheeled in a turntable.
"Where did she get that?" Asked Caramel.
"Ah have no idea." Answered Applejack.
Fluttershy and Bic mac walked into the room as Pinkie hooked the turntable up to an amp that somehow got there. (Its Pinkie don't question it)
"Now ah see what she is up to." Said Applejack.
Pinkie finished setting up and the other piny gave her the mic.
"Who is ready to Par-tay!" Yelled Pinkie pie.
There was no response from the crowd.
"Guess none of you." Said Pinkie. " Lets change that. Pokey start those jams!"
Pokey flipped a switch on the turntable, causing loud techno music to play.
"This song here is a unreleased tune from Dj P0N3!" Yelled Pinkie.
She put the mic on the nearby stand and began dancing to the beat. Pokey joined in.
"What is this?" Asked one pony.
"Its actually kinda catchy." Said another.
In the distance Caramel and Applejack could see twilight dancing as well.
"Might as well join in." Said Applejack.
"Lets." Said Caramel.
They joined in on the dancing, one by one the guests began to join in. Even Fluttershy and Big mac danced to it. Only a small handful refused to take part. After several minutes the song ended.
"Now are you ready to party!?" Yelled Pinkie.
Several ponies cheered.
"Nice going Pinks." Muttered Applejack.
There were a couple more techno songs before the pony from earlier came back and picked up the mic.
"See that wasnt so bad now was it!" Said the Pony. "But we gotta get back to playing soon."
The ponies who refused to dance smiled in relief.
"But before we do that, How bout one more song Pinkie? Something slow."
Pinkie ran up to the turntable.
"You got it Tavi!" Said Pinkie enthusiastically.
The pony sighed.
"Please dont call me that." Said the pony.
"Sorry, Octavia. That better?" Said Pinkie.
"Much."
Pinkie set a song to play. Rather than a Techno song, this one was slower, had an acoustic guitar playing in it, and had lyrics being sung by a female voice.
"Grab a Special somepony, this ones for you." Said Octavia.
Most of the ponies in attendance paired up and started slow dancing. Caramel looked at Applejack.
"May I have this dance?" Said Caramel, bowing as he spoke.
Applejack smiled.
"Sure thing sugarcube."
They began slow dancing. Caramel gazed into Applejack's emerald eyes.
"This is perfect." Thought Caramel.
They followed eachother's movements gracefully, aside from once when Caramel stepped on Applejack's hoof. They smiled at eachother as the song reached a close. Caramel felt better than he had ever felt before.
"Well thats that." Said Octavia. "Lets give a round of applause to Pinkie pie here for the music and Pokey for his help!"
The crowd applauded them as Pinkie smiled at them, a small tear in the corner of her eye. Pokey took notice.
"You alright sweetie?" Asked Pokey.
"This is the best night ever...." Said Pinkie.
"Yeah Pokey!" Said Caramel.
Pinkie and Pokey wheeled the equipment away as the orchestra started playing.
"Well that was fun." Said Applejack.
"I couldn't agree more." Said Caramel.
Awhile after, they all returned to Ponyville. The gala was a success for all of them. Pinkie managed to get the normally uptight Canterlot ponies to dance, Rarity and Noteworthy got to chat with several of Canterlot's elite, Twilight got to spend time with Celestia, And Fluttershy managed to befriend the garden's animals. Rainbow dash however was not found, but a pony in a wonderbolts outfit said that she was being taken home by a pony named Spitfire.
After the Carriages returned to the Boutique, the ponies said their goodnights and went to escort their date's home. Caramel and Applejack reached the gates to Sweet apple acres.
"Thanks for walking me home." Said Applejack.
"No problem." Said Caramel.
"Tonight was Great, much better than the last time I was there." Added Applejack.
"I had a great time too." Said Caramel.
Caramel looked up at the sky. The stars were bright that night.
"Stars sure are pretty tonight, eh Mel?"
"Yeah..."
Applejack looked at Caramel.
"Its pretty late, If you want you can sleep in and come to work a little later than usual." Said Applejack.
"Thanks Aj." Replied Caramel.
"Ah gotta get inside, take this dress off, and get something to eat." Said Applejack. "Night."
"Night Applejack." Said Caramel.
Applejack headed towards the farmhouse.
"What a Night." Thought Caramel.
Caramel walked towards ponyville, a spring in his step.
"Best night ever."

Caramel looked at the wilted corsage, a souvenir from a night he would never forget. To her it may have been a fun night with a friend, but to Caramel it meant everything. Caramel looked at the clock. It was late.
"Better get to bed." Thought Caramel.
Caramel put the corsage in the box, put it away and turned the bedroom lights off. He crawled into his bed and closed his eyes.
He had a big day tomorrow.
The corsage explained. This chapter was quite fun to write. Too bad theres only 4 more left.
The Gala portion was LOOSELY based on my prom night. Bad food, a great night, and catchy music.
The slow dance song is Taylor Swift's Ours.
It was the day before the big harvest. On that day the field hands would ready the equipment for the day to follow. Currently, Caramel and Lucky were getting out a large metal wagon.
"Just a little bit more...." Muttered Caramel.
They pulled the wagon out of a storage barn.
"Thats done." Said Lucky.
They both sat down.
"Ya know this harvest will be pretty big." Said Caramel.
"Isn't it always?" Replied Lucky.
"So what is on our to do list now?" Asked Caramel.
Lucky got up.
"Boss wanted us to get a box from carousel boutique." Said Lucky.
"Well lets get moving then." Said Caramel. "We could grab something to drink from my place on the way back."
"That sounds pretty good right now." Replied Lucky.
The two stallions walked towards the exit to Sweet apple acres.
They approached Carousel Boutique.
"I haven't been here in awhile." Said Lucky.
"Sure she would be happy to see you." Said Caramel.
Caramel knocked on the door. The Boutique's owner, Rarity answered the door.
"Ah, Caramel good to see you." Greeted Rarity.
Rarity turned to look at Lucky.
"Lucky, why I haven't seen you in awhile."
"Always nice to see you." Replied Lucky.
"Were here to pick up a package for Applejack." Said Caramel.
"Oh yes, I assumed she would pick it up herself." Said Rarity. "Then again she does have a coltfriend now, so she has been occupied."
Rarity's happy face turned to one of annoyance.
"He is kind of stuck up though....." Mumbled Rarity.
Rarity stepped inside and the two stallions followed.
"Place hasn't changed a bit." Said Lucky.
"Not since you lived with Caramel." Replied Rarity.
There was a point in time when Caramel and Lucky lived in the same house for almost a year. Lucky had been evicted and Caramel allowed him to stay with him until he got a new home.
Rarity picked up a large package with magic and levitated it in front of them.
"Must say I did a fine job with these." Said Rarity. "Also Applejack said that none of you are to view its contents."
Caramel put the package on his back while lucky tied it down. It was surprisingly light.
"See you at the Harvest Party tomorrow." Said Caramel.
"Maybe i'll see you tonight." Said Rarity. "Also say hello to noteworthy for me."
The two stallions left the boutique.
Lucky and Caramel reached Ponyville park.
"Here we are." Said Lucky.
He untied the package on Caramel's back and set it next to a park bench.
"Got the drinks?" Asked Caramel.
Lucky opened his saddlebag and took out two colas. He handed one to Caramel and they both sat down in the bench.
"Any idea whats in the box? " asked Lucky.
"Beats me."
They opened their drinks and began drinking.
"This hits the spot." Said Lucky.
Caramel could see a familiar pony approaching. It was Comet tail, a suitcase levitating next to him.
"There you are." Said Comet tail.
"Hey Comet." Greeted Caramel.
Comet tail looked at lucky.
"Could I talk to Caramel alone for a sec?"
Lucky nodded and got up.
"Don't take too long." Said Lucky. "We need to get back."
Lucky walked away and Comet tail sat on the bench.
"What is it?" Asked Caramel.
"Im heading up to Canterlot for a Day." Said Comet tail.
"Canterlot?" Asked Caramel.
"I'll be back tomorrow for the harvest party." Said Comet tail.
"Wish you would tell me more." Said Caramel. "Why are you telling me all this though?"
"Just letting you know so you can tell the others." Replied Comet tail.
Comet tail got up and picked up his suitcase.
"See ya tomorrow."
"Later."
Comet tail walked away. Lucky walked to Caramel, his beverage empty.
"Ready?" Asked Lucky.
Caramel downed the rest of his beverage.
"Yeah."
They put the empty bottles in the garbage and tied the package back onto Caramel's back.
"Come on." Said Lucky.
The walked towards the direction of Sweet apple acres.
They walked into the main barnhouse. Inside sitting at a table was Big mac and the matriarch of the apple family, Granny smith.
"We brought the package Aj ordered." Said Caramel.
They untied the package and set it on the table.
"Nice job you two." Said Big mac.
"Think that was the last part of our set-up jobs." Said Lucky.
"And the work day isnt even finished yet...." Added Caramel.
Granny smith laughed.
"Yer way ahead of the others." Said Granny smith. "Did your job pretty good. Ah wish ah had ten more of ya."
Granny smith took out a small bag of bits.
"You boys reward yerself with lunch out today."
Lucky smiled.
"Thats very generous of you." Said Caramel. "Wish I could repay you somehow."
"Your did a good job today." Replied Granny smith. "You deserve it."
Lucky put the bits into his saddle bag.
"Be back here in two hours though." Said Granny smith. "Applejack has an announcement for all the field hands."
"Will do." Replied Lucky.
They stepped outside.
They decided to eat at a pizzeria for lunch. They were sitting at a table in the resturant.
"So you gunna tell Carrot top how ya feel yet?" Asked Caramel.
"Actually, I plan to tell her tomorrow night." Replied Lucky
Caramel raised an eyebrow in Surprise.
"That was fast." Said Caramel.
"Mel me and Her have known each other for awhile. I met her dad, I've seen her cry, heck I kissed her once."
Caramel looked with pure shock.
"You did?"
Lucky blushed lightly.
"New years eve party." Replied Lucky. "We had a couple too many root beers and they forgot to take the mistletoe down....... Ten minutes straight...."
Caramel shook his head.
"Why didn't you tell me this before?"
"Thought you saw, you were at the party." Replied Lucky.
Lucky sighed.
"Point is we been through alot and I know she will give me a chance."
Caramel looked down at the floor.
"I thought the same thing bout me and Aj...." Said Caramel.
Then a unicorn waiter stepped in with a tray of food on his back.
"Your food." Began the Waiter.
He levitated a submarine sandwich onto Lucky's plate.
"A lettuce, onion, and daffodil sub with the dressing."
The waiter levitated a personal pizza onto Caramel's plate.
"And a personal cheese pizza. Enjoy."
The waiter left. Caramel licked his lips.
"Mmmm.... Pizza."
After their lunch, they returned to Sweet apple acres and waited for Applejack's announcement. Soon enough the other field hands joined them.
Other than Caramel and Lucky, there were four other field hands. Fixem; a skilled mechanic, Cherry coke; a former resident of a cherry orchard, Boxcar; an ex train-pony, And Big grey; the most distant of the Field hands.
"So whats the announcement?" Asked Fixem.
"Dunno." Replied Lucky.
In the distance, Caramel saw Applejack approaching.
"Here she comes." Said Caramel.

Applejack approached the field hands.
"Thank ya'll fer coming." Began Applejack. "As you all know, last year's harvest was not one of our best."
All the field hands looked at Lucky and Caramel.
"We didn't know fruit bats would eat a quarter of the harvest." Said Lucky.
"Its wasnt yer fault." Said Applejack. "But at least it finally freed the west orchard from fruit bats."
Caramel smiled.
"Anyways, this year we are doing a different system for the harvest." Continued Applejack. "Each of ya'll will be divided into teams of two. Each assigned to harvest a section of the orchard. My friends will be assisting except for Twilight."
Caramel raised an eyebrow.
"Why isnt Twilight helping?" Thought Caramel."
"One of you will be in charge of your assigned area." Said Applejack.
Big mac stepped in carrying the package from earlier.
"The teams will be as follows."
Applejack pulled out two orange vests, similar to the ones worn around winter wrap up out of the box.
"Fixem and Cherry will handle the North orchard."
She tossed them the vests.
"Boxcar and Grey are assigned to the South orchard."
Applejack tossed them both a white vest.
"Lastly Caramel and Lucky, you get the East orchard."
She tossed them both a black vest.
"Yall will be overseen by a member of the family." Added Big mac. "Leaders for each area will find a colored armband in their vest.
Fixem and Boxcar each pulled out an armband out of a pocket in their respective vest. The armband was green and had a red apple sewn onto it. Lucky reached into the pocket of his vest.
"Theres no band in here." Said Lucky.
Caramel's eyes widened. Slowly he reached into the pocket of his vest. He pulled an armband out of it.
"Me?"
"Yall are required to wear these tomorrow." Said Applejack. "Its gunna be bright out tomorrow so bring a hat or sunglasses if you feel the need to."
Applejack turned to leave.
"See ya'll tomorrow."
With that she walked away, Caramel watched her leave. The other field hands followed suit and departed for home, leaving only Caramel and Big mac.
"Mel, Granny wanted to see you." Said Big mac.
Caramel got up.
"Wonder why Granny smith wants to see me?" Thought Caramel.
Caramel stepped into the barn house. Sitting in a rocking chair was Granny smith.
"Ah, Caramel." Began Granny smith. "Ya made it."
"You wanted to see me?"asked Caramel.
"Yes. I wanted to talk to you about my granddaughter."
"What about her?" Asked Caramel.
"I know you like her Caramel." Said Granny smith.
Caramel stepped back.
"How-"
"Ive seen the way you look at her, how your accidents increase whenever Applejack is close by, you always remember her birthday even though she doesn't remember yours."
"Well..." Began Caramel. "Shes the most beautiful mare I have ever seen..."
Granny smith smiled.
"Let me tell you a story Caramel."
Caramel sat on the floor in front of Granny smith.
Now a long time ago, when your parents were roughly your age, a farmpony named Red went on a business trip to Manehatten with his Ma, Pa, and his little brother. Red couldnt stand it there, but one thing in that city made him want to stay.
"What was it?" Asked Caramel.
"It was a mare....." Replied Granny smith.
Her name was Tangerine, one look and Red knew she was the one. But the family had to return to the farm. For three months Red couldn't stop thinking about Tangerine. Eventually he took off from the farm and webt back to Manehatten. He tracked down a company that Tangerine's family owned and got
"Smart move." Said Caramel
He couldn't stand the city life, but he got to see Tangerine every day so in his eyes, it was worth it. Red made one mistake though, he didn't make his move soon enough. She got herself a coltfriend, a stallion that was to inherit a large sum of money. Red was heartbroken....... But one day something happened.
"What?" Asked Caramel.
The stallion got his inheritance. The moment he got his hooves on the bits, he bought a mansion in Canterlot and asked Tangerine to live with him there. That night Red truly felt like he had no hope of being with Tangerine.
"Poor guy." Muttered Caramel.
He heard another pony crying that night.When he stepped on the balcony to investigate, he saw Tangerine bawling her eyes out. Turns out she hated the rich life, but she felt that she couldn't leave the Stallion.
"What did red do?" Asked Caramel.
Red made the biggest risk of his entire life. He told Tangerine where he was really from, how he only took the job to be near her. Tangerine gave Red the biggest darn hug he ever had. As it turned out Tangerine loved farms, almost as much as Red did.Red took her hooves in his and made her a promise. 'Come with me back home he said, and I promise you that your life will be full of joy, love, and memories you can cherish forever'.
"What did she do?" Asked Caramel.
Well Tangerine packed her belongings and they paratactically ran to the train station. All Tangerine left was a note telling where she was going, And dumping that stallion. Red brought Tangerine home with him. His family welcomed her with open arms, let her be a field hand.
"Did she like it there?" Asked Caramel.
Tangerine never felt happier. She had fresh air, a stallion who loved her more than anything, and she lived in a place where ponies were much nicer than in Manehatten.After a couple years, Red and Tangerine tied the knot. Then Tangerine had three foals.They named one of them...... Applejack.
Caramel looked with surprise.
"Was Red and Tangerine-"
"Yes." Replied Granny smith. " Red was my son. And Tangerine was Applejack's mother."
That stallion moved to Canterlot without Tangerine and started a large company up there that buys small farms and mass produces food for things like juices and fruit salads. Tried to buy Sweet apple acres once, but when he saw Tangerine he decided to let it be.
Granny smith got out of her chair.
"Your just like Red. You work hard, try your best, and you both mean well."
"Thanks for telling me this." Said Caramel.
"I picked you to lead the east orchard for a reason Caramel." Said Granny smith. "Im having Applejack oversee you, and that Coltfriend of hers is out of town. If you do a good enough job, she will notice."
Caramel smiled.
"I'll do you proud." Said Caramel.
Granny smith but a hoof on Caramel's shoulder.
"Red would have liked you..." Said Granny smith.
She sat back in her chair.
"Have a good night Caramel." Said Granny smith.
"You too." Said Caramel.
Caramel stepped into his room, set his saddlebag on the ground, and walked up to his closet. He opened it and took out a medium sized box. Caramel opened it and took out its contents. A pair of metal horseshoes.
They were a gift from his parents. The horseshoes improved the ability of its wearer to kick. He used them only at harvest to buck apple trees.
"This is it Mel." Said Caramel. "Tomorrow ya got to give it your all........"
Caramel took out his box from the dresser, and picked up the picture inside.
"For Applejack....."

Caramel stepped out the door to his house and walked down the streets of Ponyville. He passed what looked like Thunderlane and Comet tail dressed in tactical looking outfits, but Caramel didn't have time to investigate further.
Caramel reached the door to Lucky's house. He knocked on the door.
"Coming!" Yelled Lucky.
Lucky answered the door wearing his black vest. He also was wearing a black headband.
"Hey Mel." Said Lucky.
"Its go time." Replied Caramel.
They both walked towards the direction of sweet apple acres.
They reached sweet apple acres. The other field hands stood around wearing their vests. Some of them wore hats or sunglasses. Caramel noticed the cutie mark crusaders pushing a covered object.
"Ill be right back." Said Caramel.
Caramel approached the three fillies.
"That your kart?" Asked Caramel.
"Yep." Replied Scootaloo.
"Were going to race it against the boy's kart." Added Sweetie belle.
"Would ya like to see it?" Asked Applebloom.
"Sure." Replied Caramel.
Scootaloo moved the tarp that was covering it, revealing that kart underneath it. It was blue with pink flames on it.
"Cool." Said Caramel.
Scootaloo covered it up again.
"We better get moving." Said Sweetie belle.
"Good luck with the harvest Caramel." Said Applebloom.
"Thanks."
The three pushed the kart as they left. Caramel noticed Applejack approaching the field hands a nd walked back to Lucky.
"Alright." Began Applejack. "Ya'll know what to do. Get one of your group hooked up to a wagon and head to your assigned area!"
Caramel and lucky looked at a nearby wagon that had several baskets loaded.
"Strap me in." Said Lucky.
Caramel helped hook Lucky up to the wagon.
"All set?" Asked Caramel.
"Yep." Replied Lucky.
Applejack approached the two.
"Lets go, Mah friend Pinkie is waitin fer us."
They walked towards the east orchard.
They reached the East orchard. Pinkie pie was humming a tune to herself and Pokey was sitting next to her.
"Pokey?" Asked Caramel.
"Hey Caramel." Said Pokey. "Pinkie thought It would be fun if I pitched In this year."
"The more the merrier i suppose." Said Applejack.
"Soarin is round here somewhere...." Said Pokey. "Probably in Rainbow dash's area."
Caramel unhitched Lucky from the Wagon.
"Nice to see you again Pokey." Said Lucky.
Lucky wasn't close to Caramel's group of friends, but he knew them enough to be friendly with them.
"Same." Replied Pokey.
The two shook hooves.
"Lets get started then." Said Caramel.
Caramel bucked an apple tree. The apples fell out and landed in the baskets set underneath it.
"How we doing Lucky?" Asked Caramel.
Lucky looked at the wagon, there were several baskets of apples loaded onto it.
"Its a good start." Replied Lucky.
Pokey loaded two more baskets onto the wagon.
"Have to say Mel." Began Pokey. "You make this look easy."
"Well Ive been doing this for years." Replied Caramel.
Lucky chuckled. Caramel turned his attention to Applejack who was helping Pinkie harvest apples from a tree.
"Shes something isnt she." Said Pokey.
"Huh?" Said Caramel.
"Pinkie. Shes something."
"Oh."
"Think shes the one Mel." Said Pokey.
"You mean your gunna....?" Began Lucky.
"Not today, But some time soon." Said Pokey. "Im gunna propose to her."
Lucky smiled.
"Go for it."
"We should get back to work." Said Caramel.
Pokey nodded and they resumed working.
Lucky pulled the wagon up to a group of unbucked trees, Caramel walked up to him.
"Were making good time." Said Caramel.
"And your doing a good job leading." Added Lucky.
Pinkie pie approached the two.
"Wow we are doing great!" Said Pinkie.
Pinkie's front left hoof began to shake.
"Your hoof is...." Began Lucky.
Pinkie looked at her hoof.
"Pinkie sense?" Asked Caramel.
"Shaky left hoof means that somepony I know just slipped a laxative in another pony's lunch! But who....."
Applejack and Pokey approached holding baskets in their mouths. Applejack set hers on the ground.
"We can figure that out later. Right now we got apples to buck." Said Applejack.
Caramel began to grab empty baskets from the wagon and set them under the trees.
It took several hours, but they were finished. The east orchard was harvested.
"Glad thats done." Said Applejack, whipping sweat from her forehead.
"Think the others are done?" Asked Caramel.
"Maybe." Replied Applejack.
Lucky began walking the wagon of apples towards the barn.
"Funny thing is, this is the first time something didn't go wrong with your end of the harvest. "
"Guess I was lucky this year." Said Caramel.
BOOM!!!!!!!!!!
Luckt stopped on a hill and looked around.
In the distance the ponies could see a rainbow colored mushroom cloud.
"The hay?" Muttered Pokey.
"Gggrrrr ah told Rainbow dash not to do that during the harvest!" Yelled Applejack.
Suddenly there was a snapping noise.
The straps holding Lucky to the wagon broke, causing it to roll downhill right at Applejack.
Applejack was so distracted that she didn't notice the wagon rolling towards her.
"Applejack!" Yelled Caramel.
Applejack turned to look at Caramel.
"What is it Cara-"
Applejack saw the wagon rolling at her. She didn't have enough time to jump out of the way.
"NO!" Yelled Caramel.
Camel rushed towards Applejack and pushed Tackled The orange mare out of harms way.
The wagon rolled into a tree, stopping it.
"Holy guacamole." Said Pinkie.
"Aj you alright?" Asked Caramel.
"Y-yeah...... You can get off me now."
Caramel noticed he was still on Applejack.
"Oh sorry."
Caramel got up and helped Applejack up. Lucky rushed over to the two.
"Im so sorry Applejack." Began Lucky. "I didnt-"
" it wasn't yer fault." Interrupted Applejack. "Ah thought ah checked the straps on the wagons yesterday."
Pokey looked at the wagon.
"Apples look ok." Said Pokey.
"Thats good." Said Caramel. "Can you use magic to pull it?"
"Yeah, just give me a sec." Said Pokey.
Applejack looked at the spot where the the rainbow mushroom cloud was.
"Ah have a few things to say to Rainbow Dash." Muttered Applejack.
Once they brought the wagon back, Pinkie and Pokey started unloading the apples while Applejack gave Rainbow dash a strict talking to.
The other field hands were finished and went home to prepare for the party, leaving only Lucky and Caramel. The two stallions were in the farmhouse drinking a glass of apple cider. Sitting near them was Granny smith and Big mac.
"You two did a good job this year." Said Big Mac.
"Thanks." Replied Caramel.
"You two should be proud of yourselves." Added Granny smith.
"It was our Pleasure." Said Lucky.
"Hope ya do as well next year." Said Big Mac.
Caramel finished his Cider.
"I got to get going right now." Said Caramel. "See you tonight."
"Later." Said Lucky.
"Dont forget to take off the vest and armband." Said Big Mac.
Caramel Slipped off the vest and Armband and set both on the table nearby. Then he trotted outside.
"You did a great job today." Thought Caramel.
"Hold up Mel." Called a voice.
Caramel stopped and turned. Applejack was approaching him.
"Aj."
"Ah wanted to congratulate you on yer job well done today." Said Applejack. "Ya didn't make a single mistake."
"Thanks."
"And ah wanted to Thank you..... Fer saving me."
Caramel blushed slightly.
"I-it was nothing." Replied Caramel.
Caramel rubbed the back of his head. In the back of his head he heard a voice calling to him.
"Kiss her Mel, she'll fall in love with you right here."
"Is something wrong Caramel?" Asked Applejack.
"No... Im alright." Replied Caramel.
"Right here, Show her how you feel. Right on the lips. She'll dump Vineyard and jump into your arms."
Caramel took a step towards Applejack.
"Ah knew there was a reason Granny smith put ya in charge of the East orchard." Said Applejack.
The voice in Caramel's head shouted louder.
"DO IT!!!!!!!!"
Caramel closed his eyes and pressed his lips against Applejack's. He didnt care what happened next, or weather or not it was a good idea to begin with, his mind was a complete blank. Her lips tasted like sweet apples and he loved it. As Caramel slowly opened his eyes, not breaking the kiss for a single second, he realized something.
She wasn't kissing back.
Her eyes were wide open, filled with shock. Caramel quickly broke off the kiss and took a step back.
"Aj I am so sorry!" Said Caramel in a panic.
"Ca-Caramel?" Said Applejack.
Caramel was really worried now.
"Its.... I was wrapped up in the mood and....."
"Caramel, why did you-"
"I LOVE YOU!" Shouted Caramel.
The shock left Applejack's eyes. Both ponies were blushing so much that you could almost mistake them for Big mac.
"You.... You love me?"
Caramel felt like he was standing in a minefield.
"I-I do Applejack, I really do." Replied Caramel.
Applejack lowered her head.
"Mel...... Im with Vineyard....... Im sorry."
Caramel felt as if His whole world was shattering around him.
"She doesnt........" Thought Caramel.
That was the third time his Heart broke.
Tears began to fall from his eyes. He ran, he ran as fast as he could towards ponyville, all he wanted was to be alone. Applejack kept looking at Caramel until he vanished from sight.
"Im so sorry Caramel......" Muttered Applejack.
And so Caramel died alone the end. Just kidding. I still got one last chapter left.
Anyways sorry about the wait, I was distracted by Assassins creed.

Applejack sat on a log outside of the barn, thinking about what Caramel Said.
"Ah hope ah Didn't hurt him too much." Muttered Applejack.
She began to think about the Caramel stallion, about the night they first met, her first kiss.
"It was foals being foals..... Nothing serious.... Right?"
Her train of thought was cut off by a loud crashing noise.
"The hay!?" Yelled Applejack.
She noticed a grey mass surrounded by the remains of a bale of hay.
"Oh darn it!" Yelled the mass.
The mass got up, revealing itself to be a grey pegasus mare with a blonde mane and tail, yellow crossed eyes, and bubbles for a cutie mark. She carried a brown mailbag with her.
"Ditzy?" Asked Applejack.
The pegasus Ditzy doo, or as some called her Derpy looked at Applejack.
"Hey Applejack!" Said Ditzy enthusiastically. "I didn't break anything did I?"
Applejack chuckled lightly.
"Just that bale of hay, but thats fixable." Said Applejack.
"Thats good."
Ditzy reached into her mailbag as Applejack raised an eyebrow.
"We already got the mail this morning." Said Applejack.
"I know." Replied Ditzy. "But this is a high priority letter from Canterlot."
She took out an envelope and handed it to Applejack.
"No return address." Said Applejack, examining the letter.
"Well its been nice seeing you, but I got to get home." Said Ditzy. "Bye!"
With that the grey pegasus flew off into the sky. Applejack looked at her letter.
"Who could be sending me mail all the way from Canterlot?" Thought Applejack. "And why is dis high priority?"
Applejack decided to find out. She opened the letter and silently read it to herself. The further she read into the letter, the more shocked she became.
"No....... Ah cant believe...... This cant be..."
She dropped the letter onto the ground and lowered her head. Slowly the tears came.
"Why....."
Caramel ran into his house and slammed the door behind him.
"Stupid stupid stupid!"
Caramel ran into his room and Whipped his face with his hoof. Then he threw himself onto his bed.
"She doesn't like me." Thought Caramel. "I never had a chance! And for all I know our friendship is ruined!"
Caramel sobbed slowly as he pressed his head into his pillow.
"M-maybe I should leave town...... Go b-back to manehatten......" Said Caramel. "Nothing left for me here............. Sigh...... I need a nap...."
He couldn't stop himself from falling asleep.
Caramel stood surrounded by darkness.
"Caramel........." Called a voice.
Caramel looked around.
"Who's there?" Asked Caramel.
The tan stallion looked around and saw a bright light.
"Caramel......"
Caramel approached the light.
"Who are you!?" Yelled Caramel.
Caramel walked into the light, the intensity was so bright that Caramel had to close his eyes.
"Caramel........... Open yer eyes Caramel."
Caramel opened his eyes. He was no longer surrounded by darkness, he was in the streets of Manehatten, and he was much younger.
"What the?"
"You fell asleep again."
Caramel turned and saw Applejack standing near a lamppost, also much younger.
"Aj?"
Applejack walked up to Caramel.
"Come on we got ta go." Said Applejack.
"G-go where?" Asked Caramel.
Before he could get an answer Applejack kissed him on the lips.
"Home sugar."
Applejack started laughing and ran off.
"Bet ya cant catch me!" She shouted.
Caramel smiled.
"Your on!"
Caramel chased after her. Applejack ran into a tunnel.
"I have you now!" Shouted Caramel.
Caramel ran into the tunnel after her. Then suddenly a bright flash blinded him.
"Caramel....... Hurry up!"
Caramel looked around. He was in a barn now. He was back to his normal age.
"This is getting weird...." Muttered Caramel.
"There you are."
Applejack stepped into the barn, also back to her normal age.
"Ya had me lookin all over fee ya Mel."
"Sorry Aj, did you need something?" Asked Caramel.
"Actually I do." Replied Applejack. "Ah need you to-"
"CARAMEL ARE YOU THERE!?"
"The hay?
"ARE YOU ASLEEP CARAMEL!?"
Caramel awoke and got off the bed.
"Must be Comet tail." Thought Caramel. "Coming!" He shouted.
Caramel walked downstairs.
"That dream....." Thought Caramel.
Caramel opened the door. Comet tail was standing on the other side.
"Hey Comet." Said Caramel.
"Ready to head out?" Asked Comet tail.
"Yeah, just give me a Sec." Replied Caramel.
Caramel closed the door and looked at his saddlebag on his dinner table.
"What was that dream about?" Thought Caramel. "I was chasing Applejack.... Then she says she needs me for something...... Celestia what does It mean?"
Caramel sighed.
"I was a foal...... Like when I first met her......
And then it hit him.
"Thats it!" Thought Caramel. "Ive been chasing after her since I was a foal! But the needing part..... That I don't know."
Caramel put on a determined look.

"I know what im going to do now."
Caramel picked up his Saddlebag and put it on his back.
"I haven't been chasing the same mare just to give up now." Thought Caramel.
Caramel approached the door.
"I need to talk to Applejack."
Caramel opened the door and stepped outside, closing it behind himself.
"Good to go." Said Caramel. "Lets get to that party."
The two stallions headed for Sweet apple acres.
Comet and Caramel approached Sweet apple acres, both in the midst of a discussion.
"So You had to go to Canterlot to get a book you needed?" Questioned Caramel.
"Yeah." Said Comet tail.
"Wouldn't Twilight have the book you needed?" Asked Caramel.
Comet tail was silent for a moment.
"I saw Vineyard on the train there."
Caramel stopped.
"Vineyard.......... Thats the last pony I want to hear about....." Thought Caramel.
"Mel?"
Caramel snapped back to reality.
"I-....im alright." Said Caramel.
"I think he was going to some sort of a meeting up there." Said Comet tail. "I had a short conversation with him."
"What did he say?" Asked Caramel.
"He said Goldengrape hates my guts." Replied Comet tail.
"No Surprise there." Said Caramel.
"He also doesn't like Aj's friends.... Or you."
Caramel's eyes widened.
"He doesn't?"
Comet tail shook his head.
"He said you were obnoxious, and he thinks all Twilight does is read." Said Comet tail.
Caramel was surprised at what he was hearing.
"Applejack would never love a pony that didnt like her friends." Thought Caramel. "If Aj found out, She would break up with him."
"Should we Tell Applejack?"
"No." Replied Caramel. "She wouldn't believe us unless we had proof."
"Maybe we could get proof." Said Comet tsil.
Caramel raised an eyebrow.
"What do you mean?"
"When he gets back we could find some proof that he doesn't like Applejack's friends and give it to her." Said Comet tail. "She would dump him faster than a cheetah in a foot race."
Caramel smiled.
"Sounds like a plan." Began Caramel. "Lets get to the party."
As they resumed walking, Caramel smiled to himself.
"Maybe I do still have a chance."
They reached the barn where the party was taking place. They could hear talking and music coming from the inside.
"Sounds like they're having fun in there." Said Caramel.
"Yeah." Said Comet tail. "Lets go join them."
They stepped inside the barn. String up lights were set up inside, there was a refreshments table set up in the corner, and a small band was set up near a section of the barn that Caramel presumed was the dance floor. He saw several ponies inside socializing and dancing.

"This is a bigger party than last years." Said Caramel.
"Food smells better too." Added Comet tail.
They both chuckled.
"Im going to find Lucky." Said Caramel.
"Alright, have fun." Said Comet tail.
The two stallions went their separate ways.
"Lucky said he was going to confess his feelings for Carrot top tonight." Thought Caramel.
He looked around the party for the Grey stallion.
"Where is he?" Muttered Comet tail.
He bumped into a white pony.
"Oh im sorry, I didn't see you there." Said Caramel.
Caramel noticed that the mare he bumped into was Rarity.
"Its quite alright." Said Rarity.
"Have you seen Lucky around here?" Asked Caramel.
"Ah yes, I noticed him talking with an orange mare." Replied Rarity. "Should be somewhere on the right."
"Thanks." Said Caramel.
Caramel walked towards the right side of the barn.
Caramel found Lucky with Carrot top. The two were in the middle of a conversation.
"Hey Lucky." Said Caramel.
Lucky stopped his conversation and looked at his friend.
"Caramel! How are ya?" Asked Lucky.
"Nice to see you." Said Carrot top.
"Im fine." Said Caramel.
"I'll let you two talk." Said Carrot top.
Carrot top walked towards the refreshment table, leaving the stallions to talk.
"Did you tell her yet?" Asked Caramel.
"Not yet." Said Lucky. "But I'm going to in a little bit."
"Is Applejack around here?" Asked Caramel.
"Yeah....." Said Lucky. "She was here earlier. Me and Carrot arrived a little bit after Aj's friends. She put up a huge fuss about Carrot top being here and stormed off into the farmhouse."
"Thanks Lucky." Said Caramel. "Think I'll enjoy the party before I look for her."
"Good thinking." Replied Lucky. "After all, harvest only cones once a year."
Caramel had been at the party for an hour and a half now, he decided that it was time to find Applejack.
"Better look for her." Thought Caramel.
Caramel stepped outside.
"You needed some fresh air?" Asked A voice
Caramel turned and Saw Comet tail.
"No. I have to check on something." Replied Caramel.
"Oh."
"I'll only be a bit." Said Caramel.
Caramel walked towards the direction of the farmhouse.
Caramel knocked on the farmhouse door.
"Please be here." Thought Caramel.
The door opened and Big Macintosh stood on the other side.
"Mac?"
"Caramel, ah thought ya would be at the party." Said Big Mac.
"I was." Said Caramel. "Is Applejack here?"
Big mac stepped outside.
"Nope."
"Oh."
"Somethins wrong with her." Said Big mac. "She came inside a little bit after ya left, she kept hiding her face in her hat and ran into her room."
"What?" Asked Caramel.
"Ah tried ta talk to her, but she locked the door."
"Something is up with Aj?" Thought Caramel.
But then another thought crossed his mind.
"Mac, Why are you here and not at the party?" Asked Caramel.
Big Mac's eyes widened.
"Oh.... Well....... Ya see...."
Caramel raised an eyebrow.
"What aren't you telling me?"
Big mac let out a sigh.
"Ah cant go out there." Began Big mac. "Theres a mare I really like in that party...."
"Thats it?" Asked Caramel,
"Theres more." Said Big mac. "Its one of AJ's friends. Ah know they're all younger than me, but ah cant help it."
Big mac was three years older than Applejack.
"Big mac, You need to go in there." Said Caramel.
Big mac looked surprised at Caramel's response.
"But what if she doesn't like me."
"Mac, I made the mistake of not asking the mare I loved to be with me sooner, don't make my mistake." Said Caramel,
"Ah.....What if...... Ya actually do have a point." Replied Big Mac.
Big mac trotted towards the barn.
"Somepony has to know whats wrong with Applejack." Thought Caramel.
Caramel walked towards the barn where the party was at.
"Who could know whats wrong with Aj?" Thought Caramel.
His thoughts were Interrupted by loud eating noises.
"Huh?"
Caramel followed the noises until he reached the back of the barn's exterior. Sitting on a crate was Soarin, eatting an apple pie with Rainbow dash sitting next to him.
"All those sweets are going to kill you one day." Said Rainbow dash.
"Hey I exercise." Replied Soarin with a mouthful of pie.
"Soarin?" Muttered Caramel.
Caramel suddenly hit a realization.
"Rainbow Dash!" Thought Caramel. "Shes Aj's best friend! If anypony knows whats going on its her."
Caramel slowly approached the two. Rainbow was the first to notice.
"Caramel." Began Rainbow dash.
Soarin looked at Caramel and swallowed.
"Mel!" Said Soarin. "How are ya!?"
"Could I speak with Rainbow dash for a second?" Asked Caramel.
"Oh sure." Replied Soarin,
Soarin flew into the clouds with his pie, leaving the two to talk.
"I never got to thank you for letting Soarin into your group." Said Rainbow Dash. "Hes been alot happier since."
"Thanks." Said Caramel. "I need to talk to you about Applejack."
"You heard she was feeling down, didn't you?"
Caramel nodded.
"Whoever told you doesn't know the half of it."
Caramel's eyes widened.
"What?"
"I found this in her room."
Rainbow dash produced an opened letter and gave it to Caramel. The tan stallion slowly started to read the letter.
Applejack,
I have some great news. I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime by Indigo Farms here in Canterlot. Im getting a larger plot of land to grow even more grapes and a much larger crew of workers. However this means that I will be moving into Canterlot and as such I have to end our relationship. Some ponies will be comming by Ponyville to get my belongings and to transfer my grape plants to my new land plot. As a parting gift, I am granting you the ownership of my former property to do whatever you wish to.

Caramel gasped.
"He left her?"
Caramel felt like he should be happier.
Rainbow nodded.
"Nopony knows about this but you and me."
Rainbow sighed.
"I knew this wouldn't end well, she should have waited."
Caramel raised an eyebrow.
"Waited for what?" Asked Caramel.
"Nothing." Said Rainbow dash. "I tried to talk to her about it but she doesn't want anypony near her."
"Any idea where she is?" Asked Caramel.
"No." Said Rainbow Dash. "I went to get some cider and she took off."
Rainbow dash looked at Caramel.
"You have to find her, you might be the only pony she will listen to."
Caramel raised an eyebrow.
"W-why me?"
Rainbow dash looked at the ground before looking back at Caramel.
"She loved you Caramel, and I think she still does."
Caramel gasped.
"Applejack...... She....... How do you know?"
"We had a sleepover once, just the two of us." Began Rainbow dash. "We were talking about colts...... She got all nervous when I said your name. Then we played truth or dare and I asked who she had a crush on..... Took her ten minutes just to give me an answer."
"She always seemed so collected whenever shes around me." Said Caramel.
"Shes better at hiding her emotions."
Rainbow dash sighed.
"When Vineyard asked her out, she didn't even want to go." Continued Rainbow dash. "Apparently he wooed her with his fancy farming techniques and manners....."
Caramel thought back to the night he first fond out about their relationship, and how his heart broke.
"Somewhere Applejack is feeling the same pain....." Thought Caramel.
Caramel put on a determined look.
"Where do I start looking?"
"Your guess is as good as mine."
"Wish me luck." Said Caramel.
Caramel ran off as Soarin landed next to Rainbow dash.
"You think he has a chance?" Asked Soarin.
"He has to." Replied Rainbow Dash.
As Caramel passed the barn, he heard cheering. Coming from inside.
"Huh?"
Caramel stopped and walked towards the Barn.
"What are they cheering about?"
Caramel opened the barn door slowly and looked inside. Standing in the middle of the barn was Lucky, Carrot top was embracing him. The pair leaned in for a kiss. Caramel smiled.
"Ya did it Lucky." Thought Caramel. "You finally Did it."
"They look happy."
Caramel turned and saw the Cutie Mark Crusaders standing near him, looking into the barn.
"Thats so romantic." Sighed Sweetie belle.
"Shouldn't you three be in there?" Asked Caramel.
"We were looking for you." Said Scootaloo.
"We wanted to tell ya that our kart won the race!" Said Applebloom.
"Nice job." Said Caramel.
"Were gunna tell Aj once she comes out of the west orchard." Said Applebloom.
Caramel's ears perked up.
"What was that about the west orchard?"
"Applejack walked into the west orchard." Said Sweetie belle.
"We tried to follow her but she told us not to...... Loudly." Said Scootaloo.
"Bingo." Thought Caramel.
Caramel turned to the west orchard,
"Thanks for telling me." Said Caramel.
Caramel galloped towards the west orchard.
"Where do you think hes going?" Asked Scootaloo.
"I dont know....." Replied Sweetie belle.
"Must be pretty Important." Added Applebloom.
Caramel walked through the West orchard.
"Where is she?"
Caramel reached a clearing in the orchard. There was a lone fallen apple tree in the center and Applejack saw sitting on it, Looking at the moon.
"There she is." Thought Caramel.
Slowly he approached Applejack.
"Ah should have known this would end bad..." Applejack muttered to herself.
Caramel was now three feet away from her.
"Applejack...." Said Caramel.
Applejack slowly turned to face Caramel.
"Caramel?..... Please just go.... Ah need to be alone...."
"You had enough alone time." Said Caramel. "I know what happened with vineyard."
Applejack Whiped her eyes.
"Ah thought he really liked me..... He was so kindhearted.... And honest....."
"He wasn't honest." Said Caramel.
"W-what?"
"He said he liked you, if he really liked you he would have stayed." Explained Caramel.
"Caramel.... Why did ya come find me?" Asked Applejack.
"I was worried, your friends are worried." Replied Caramel. "And because........ I still care about you."
"Applejack looked surprised.
"Even after what ah said earlier?"
"Aj, I love you." Began Caramel.
Caramel walked next to Applejack and sat down.
"I love your personality, the way you work hard, your honesty, even the way you eat a whole plate of apple fritters in less than two minutes."
Applejack blushed.
"Im here for you." SId Caramel.
Applejack put on a light smile.
"Caramel........ Ah haven't been completely honest with myself....... Before ah started dating Vineyard, Ah had a major crush on ya..."
"Rainbow told me." Said Caramel.
"The only reason ah went on that date with Vineyard was to learn a few farming tricks. But he was so well mannered....... Ah couldn't help mahself."
"Its alright." Said Caramel
Caramel pulled Applejack in for a kiss. Unlike the one from earler that day, applejack happily kissed back. After a minute they broke for air.
"Does this mean that...... Were an item now?" Asked Caramel.
"Looks that way." Replied Applejack.
Caramel looked at the sky, his eyes widened.
"Look!"
The pair looked at the sky, several meteors decorated the sky, all of them had pink-white tails.
"Its so beautiful...." Muttered Caramel.
Applejack rested her head on Caramel's shoulder. Neither of them wanted the moment to end.
"Im with Applejack." Thought Caramel. "Were finally together........"
After a few minutes the meteor shower stopped and the two got up.
"The harvest party is still going on, and your friends want to see you." Said Caramel.
"Say no more, lets get moving partner." Said Applejack. "Ah should also apologize to Carrot top for calling her all those nasty names."
The new couple walked towards the direction of the barn, it was going to be the first of many things they would do together.
TWO YEARS LATER.............
Caramel stood in his room, holding his picture of him and Applejack at the party where they first met. It was now in a small picture frame.
"Time goes by fast..." Thought Caramel.
He set it on his desk near three other pictures. One was of him and Applejack at the most recent Grand Galloping Galla, the second was them at Pokey and Pinkie's wedding, the last picture was him and Applejack in a barn smiling and hugging.
"Only been two years, but I cant imagine life without her."
Things had changed over the past two years. All of Applejack's friends found Colt friends. Pokey and Pinkie tied the knot last summer and Thunderlane was planning his Marriage to Blossomforth, and Lucky told Caramel that he intended to Propose to Carrot top this winter.
Applejack had decided to tear down Vineyard's former grape farm and planted another apple orchard over the land.
"Better not be late." Muttered Caramel.
Caramel walked downstairs and out the front door.
Caramel approached Sweet apple acres. Applejack was waiting for him at the gate.
"There ya are Mel." Said Applejack.
They exchanged a quick kiss.
"Hey sweetie."
"Ready to head out?" Asked Applejack.
"You know I am." Replied Caramel.
They were going to a restaurant to celebrate their two year anniversary.
"Lets go, ah'm starvin." Said Applejack.
The couple walked down the dirt road. As they walked side by side, they thought back to the events that brought them together in the first place and how they learned that what they really wanted,
was right in front of them all along......
