Broken Glass
The Best Day Ever
Load Full StoryCelestia's beautiful sun came up over the tall green hills, the light blanketing the ground, and shining through the window. It laid down on a cyan pony's cheek. She was covered under a soft cloth blanket. She huffed, hugging the pillow. She cracked open her eyes and she smiled a bit. She rolled over, her rainbow hair messy and stringy. She yawned, slowly rising up. Her hooves laid down on the blanket. She lifted her wings, separating her feathers and stretching them out. She climbed out of the bed. She looked around her room. Her room was scattered with collections of Daring Do books, Wonderbolt posters, stamps, cards and other things. She blinked for a moment and her eyes moved to the side. A small poster caught her eye. It was sitting on her bed. It had three of the Wonderbolts lined up on it, on top in black ink it said "Wonderbolts Tryouts" and on the bottom, it read "October 13th." And guess what? It was the thirteenth. She perked up and grinned. Quickly, she ran to the other room, puffs of cloud flying up behind her. She brushed her hair, then got breakfast, ate, and ran out the door with her wings stretched out.
She landed down on a cloud carefully. She looked down. Pegasi from all around were there to watch. And of course, her friends were there early. Twi, Pinkie, Fluttershy, Applejack, and Rarity. All there to watch as she tried out for the Wonderbolts. She flew down slowly. Instantly she headed down to the waiting area. She looked around, her face full of joy. "I'm so excited!" She squealed to herself as she headed to get a number. She was number six. She waited, and waited for her number to be called as she watched other pegasi go on and show off. She wanted to just burst out squealing, but she kept it inside. A few hours later, her name was finally called. She bounced up off of the cloud floor, and went outside, without any word. She looked at every pony around. Pegasi from all around were there, and of course, her friends were there, cheering her on.
"Rainbow Dash! Dashie! Dashie! Dashie!"
Multiple voices called out her name. She gulped. She let her wings open up slowly, and she stepped off the edge of the cloud. The wind blew through her hair, and she took a deep breath of the fresh air. Her wings began to flap and she lifted herself up gently. There was sudden silence. And then, she began to soar through the air. She flew fast, the ponies cheering her on. She swooped from side to side, carefully dodging the cloud pillars. She smirked, her eyes filled with determination. She dropped down quickly as she dodged another object, and flew up into the sky. She floated, bobbing up and down in the blue sky as her wings flapped against her sides. She then began to shoot down, her next plan was to do a Sonic Rainboom. She grinned. The wind was blowing hard against her face. The ponies all had shocked faces as she continued to go down. Her mane and tail looked like a long rainbow streak. She took in a deep breath, and as she neared the ground, there was a large boom. A large colorful ring circled the whole arena. All the ponies gasped, and started to cheer. She then came back up to the middle of the arena. She did a backflip, then stopped and floated. She looked down at all the colored ponies that cheered for her. She smiled, happiness in her eyes. She blinked for a moment then glided back down to the cloud she was at moments ago. She smiled, proud of herself.
The tryouts soon came to an end. She sat, waiting. She saw a yellow pony in a blue outfit, with bright orange eyes and mane. She looked at the pony, who she recognized as Spitfire, her idol. "Spitfire...? What are you doing here?" She asked curiously. The pony smiled and looked in her eyes. "I saw you out there. It was pretty amazing." She said, pausing for a moment. "...and I was wondering..." She picked up a suit and lifted it up to hand it to Rainbow. "...want to be a part of our group? The Wonderbolts?" She asked. Silence filled the room. A squeal escaped Rainbow's throat and she took the suit with a nod. "Of course I want to! It's been my dream!" She cried in joy. She was stuck in a mix of sobs and squeals. "I did it! I did it!" She said, while Spitfire chuckled. "Now, come on. You want your friends to know about this, right?" She said. Rainbow nodded, and she bounced up, following Spitfire out to her friends.
Outside, her five friends were all standing out there waiting for her. "Hey guys!" She called out. Her friends perked up and ran up to her. "Hey Dashie!" The pink party pony smiled as she looked at her rainbow haired friend. Twilight smiled. "How'd it go?" She asked calmly. "You won't believe what just happened." Dash said, her eyes watering up from all the joy. "What happened?" A yellow pony with a pink mane asked, stepping out from the middle of the four other ponies. "Well, I was in there..." She paused for a moment to take a breath. "...and Spitfire came up... She asked me to be in the Wonderbolts and gave me this!" She said with a grin as she clutched the suit in her teeth. "That's great!" They all said. "Ah'm happy for ya, Dash!" Applejack smiled at her friend. "Without you guys, I probably would have failed!" She laughed as she gave a hug to each of her friends.
They all headed down to Sugarcube Corner for a celebration, of course hosted by Pinkie Pie, the number one party pony. Streamers, food, punch, and games were scattered all over Sugarcube Corner. Almost everypony in Ponyville was there. A banner that read "Congratulations Rainbow Dash" was hanging from the ceiling. "Are you ready to partay?!" Pinkie Pie said joyfully, turning up the music. She bounced around while ponies talked and danced. She was off in the kitchen making some snacks. Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Twilight, Fluttershy and Applejack were hanging out beside the snack table, chatting away about the Wonderbolts and such. "I'm so excited to practice tomorrow! This has been... the best day ever!" She squealed. It was, the best day. Ever.
