It's Hearth's Warming today! I am so excited, I'm sure the Fire Spirit is going to say I was good this year! He'll give me such good presents! I ran downstairs as fast as my little hooves could take me. I ran to the tree room of the castle, checking all around the tree. I saw the gifts from my parents, but I didn't see anything from the Fire Spirit... That is, until I checked by the fire place. There I saw two presents. One was light blue with the sun symbols all around it, held together by a yellow bow, the other was nearly black with moon symbols all around it, held together by a dark blue bow. They were fairly small. Only two? What the? Last year I got at least 10! The Fire Spirit must have screwed something up, I'm sure.... He did screw up, right?

It was always a rule of my parent's that I have to wait for them to open my presents, however, this time I had to wait even longer. Now that I think about it, this was Luna's first Hearth's Warming! She will be so excited to get her first present.  Luna was born just four years ago, she is such a young filly. I'm a big girl though, I'm seven! Regardless though, I look back on my first Hearth's Warming like a fond memory. Now that I think about it, I got only one present then too. So, maybe it's just for fairness sake that I only get one. I still want more though!

I waited for a long time for my parents and Luna to wake up, it made sense though, I did wake up fairly early. Five o'clock in the morning was when I woke up. When they woke up it was eight o'clock in the morning, my mother and father trotting in the room. Mommy was so beautiful, her mane so bright and wavy. She said that mine would start doing the same when I get older. I can't wait. My daddy, so strong looking, so friendly. He protects me and the kingdom. Especially my family. He wasn't in his armor today though and I'm glad. I want to hug Daddy, not a cold suit. And then there was Luna, lying on Mommy's back. She looked very tired, she always did sleep in. But, I'm sure she'll be like me one day, unable to wait for this day.

I ran up and hugged Daddy, holding onto his front legs, nuzzling them. He looked at me and laughed, "Somepony's excited to see me," he said, nuzzling me softly. I looked up at him and nodded, the biggest grin on my face.

"Celly, how long have you been up?" Mommy asked, a little bit upset with me.

"I was up at five!" I said, proud that I slept in today. Mommy just sighed and shook her head.

"What am I going to do with you?" she asked herself.

Luna yawned, waking up a bit, rubbing her eyes, looking around tiredly, "Mmm... Whewe am I Mommy?" she asked, looking at her.

"We're in the Tree Room!" she said, smiling at her, "It's Hearth's Warming today!" Mommy took Luna off her back with her magic and Luna went to the couch, trying to hop up on it.

When she finally did, she looked under the tree, seeing all the presents and gifts, tilting her head, "What awe those?" she asked, pointing at them with her hoof.

"Those are presents! Hearth's Warming is the holiday of giving, love, and friendship," Mommy said, sitting next to her, nuzzling my sister softly. "Now then, go open that one by the fire place, you too Celly," she said, pointing at the gifts.

I ran up to the one that I knew was mine, the sun one. It was clearly mine because it had my cutie mark all over it. I bit the bow, pulling on it, trying to take it off, putting my nose to the top of the box, opening it slowly. For some reason, it was bright and beautiful. However, I didn't want to look at it until Luna opened hers, so we can open it together. Luna looked scared of it, analyzing it. She was wary and looking like she was about to pounce. I giggled a bit and went over to her, tapping her shoulder. She jumped a bit, shrieking a bit. She was so focused on the box, she didn't see me. All I could do was giggle. "Cewestia! That wasn't nice!" she shouted.

I pet her a bit, "Oh Luna, it's not gonna bite you! Here let me help you!" I said, taking off the bow for her, "Now open it!"

She did so, slowly going to it, opening it with her nose. She looked inside as well as I. She pulled out a dark blue necklace with a little moon on it. She looked at it and wondered what it was, tilting her head. Mommy and Daddy chuckled a bit, going over to her. "It's a necklace, Luna!" Mommy said, putting it around her neck with her magic.

"It has your domain on it, the most lovely thing in the night sky, the moon," Daddy said, petting her softly.

I smiled and thought that if Luna got something that good, I got something better! I am older afterall. I went and looked in my box, using my magic powers pulled out... a book. A big, brown, dusty book. My parents clapped their hooves at this and all I did was stare at it. I couldn't believe my eyes at this "gift". Luna got an awesome necklace and all I got was this big dumb book! I didn't even look at the title, I just put it down and ran to my room, beginning to tear up. I slammed my door and went face first into my pillow, sobbing hard. I heard a knock on my door, hearing Daddy call out to me, "Celly, can I come in...?" he asked me.

"NO! GO AWAY!" I shouted, not wanting to see anyone right now. Daddy came in anyway, sitting on my bed and rubbing my back, nuzzling me softly.

"Celly, please calm down, you got a really cool gift!" he said, petting me softly, trying to comfort me.

"How is it 'cool'?" I asked, sniffling and sitting up to look at him. He was holding the book shifting through it.

He showed me the cover of the book. It read How to be a Princess. I looked up at him again, wiping my eyes, "This book is all about being a Princess, etiquette and learning how to be a good and just ruler," he said, "It's been passed down from generation to generation, each one given to the girl when they are seven years old by the Fire Spirit. How he gets it is always a mystery." My eyes went wide, looking at the book, then Daddy.

"So... does that mean I'm going to be the new Princess?" I asked, blinking.

He sighed slightly and shook his head, "Yes and no, you will be sharing your rule with your sister, however, you are going to be the one who raises the sun, the one that the ponies will love, your sister, the moon so that the ponies may go to sleep."

"Well, I can live with that! I love Luna, she's the best sister ever!" I said, smiling wide, hugging Daddy tight.

"Now, shall we go back to the family?"

I got off the bed, turning back to him, "Lets!" I said, starting to walk out the door, the book following behind me due to my magic. Daddy followed me out and we went back to the Tree Room.

As soon as I got in, I heard, "I'm so sowwy!" coming from Luna as she ran up to hug me tight. I just giggled and hugged her back, nuzzling her softly.

"Oh Luna, it's ok, I'm better now..." I said, smiling at her.

We opened the rest of our presents, and we got some really cool things like magic books, toys and other things. In the end, it was a really good Hearth's Warming and I hope Luna enjoyed it and the Hearth's Warmings to come.
