A Falling Star in Ponyville
Life in Ponyville: True Love
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe sun was peeking in through the window and the smell of a freshly made breakfast was wafting up from the kitchen, when Falling Star awoke from his slumber. Wondering who was making breakfast, he trotted down from his study to the dining room. There he found the answer to his question. It was his Rarity. They had been dating for about six months now and they were still as in love with each other as they had been on the first day. Walking up behind her, Star put his hooves over her eyes and said "Guess who". "I guess my Star." "You guessed right."
"How are you today sweetie?" Star asked the white unicorn.
"I'm doing much better now that you're up, darling. I made breakfast for us. Your plate is already on the table." Rarity replied with a smile.
Star waited for Rarity to get her plate, then followed her to the table to pull her chair out for her, as any gentlecolt would. As Rairty sat down, Star noticed a difference in her movements. She seemed more skittish than she usually did. "What's bothering you, Rarity?" He asked.
"Oh, it's just the guards outside are a little intimidating, Star. I have a feeling they don't like me being here. It's like they don't approve of our relationship." She replied sullenly.
"Have they said anything to you?" He asked as he thought about what she had just told him.
"The big one, Bladed Hooves, has told me to stop coming here everyday to see you."
"I'm going to have a few words with him and his men later. No pony has the right to tell you not to come here."

After they had breakfast together, Rarity had to return to her boutique, as she was making new Gala dresses for the others and one for herself. She was already done making Stars outfit for the Gala, but she wouldn't let him see it yet. As she left, Falling Star saw the guards shoot her nasty looks. This made Star Extremely angry. To see others disrespect the Mare he loved, made him want to yell as loud as he could. "BLADED HOOVES, GET OVER HERE, NOW!" he yelled "AND BRING ALL OF YOUR MEN WITH YOU!"
As the Guardians came over to him, Star started getting even madder, for they all had smug little smiles on their faces.
"What seems to be the problem, your majesty? Is it that Rarity mare?" Bladed Hooves asked his prince.
By now, Star was blood red with anger. "Wipe the smug looks of your faces, all of you! You and your men are the problem, Bladed Hooves. HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT MY RARITY! She may come and go as she sees fit, and I won't tolerate anymore of your snide remarks towards her. If you so much as say or do anything rude to her or towards her, ALL of you will be immediately STRIPPED of your duties as Royal guards. DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?"
*
The Guardians stood in shock as Falling Star scolded them for their actions towards Rarity. They had never thought that he would find out about it. Somehow though, he had, and he was angry. They didn't know what to say. "I SAID, DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?" Star yelled again, and this time they answered. "SIR, YES, SIR. It will never happen again, your Majesty."
"See that it doesn't. Now out of my way, i'm going to take a walk."

Star was still fuming when he got to the tree where he and Rarity had watched the sunset. Sitting down, he tried to get his anger under control. He didn't want to scare anypony with his behavior. He sat under the tree for hours on end, just thinking about Rarity. Eventually, he was able to calm down and just lie on the grass in the shade. He didn't know what to do anymore. Should he go see his other friends or visit Rarity in her Boutique. In the end, he decided to stay under the tree. Soon the sun started setting and he knew both Rarity and his Guards would be worried if he didn't show up soon. He didn't want to make Rarity worry about him.

As Star got up, he felt a presence behind him. He whirled around to find that it was Rarity. She was smiling at him and he couldn't help but smile back. He had a surprise in store for her later. Star trotted over to Rarity and kissed her on the lips. "I missed you, Rarity." He said with all his love in his voice. "I missed you too, Star. In fact, I have been looking for you all day, because I wanted to ask you something very important, away from all the guards and our friends."
"What is it that you need to ask me, Rarity?" Falling Star asked, becoming instantly curious.
"Star, I love you with all my heart. I can't stand to be away from you all day and night. If it's not to much trouble...that is to say, if it's alright with you....could I move into your house with you?" She asked.
"Of course you can, Rarity. Now I have something I want to ask you."
*
Rarity looked at Falling Star and was confused by the look in his eyes. "What is it, my love? she asked.
"Rarity, I Love you with every fiber of my being. You are the kindest, smartest, most beautiful mare I have ever met. Every second of everyday, I think of you." At this point Falling Star pulls a small box out from a hole in the tree. "Rarity, would you do me the supreme honor of marrying me?"
*
For a few heartbreaking moments, Rarity was quiet. Falling Star began to wonder if he had made a mistake. As he looked away, he heard a small sniffle come from Rarity. He looked back at her and saw the tears in her eyes. She was crying and nodding her head. Finally, she managed to say one word. "Yes". Soon, Star was crying tears of joy as well. He had never been so happy. He was now engaged to his true love and he could see a bright future for the two of them.

From the shadows, a dark laugh echoed. Things have only just started getting fun.
