There wasn't a peep in all of equestria, except for Canterlot Castle that is. "Have you found the intruder?" Shining Armor asked one of his fellow guards. "No sir! I regret to announce that the intruder still alludes us." The new recruit eagerly replied. "Okay keep searching. We must catch this intruder." Shining commanded. "Yes si--" The guards energetic cry was cut short as there was a loud explosion from above. Everypony looked skyward as a rainbow shockwave passed over the sky. A sonic rainboom? But how? Shining pondered to himself as he watched the vibrant colors cover the sky. His eyes narrowed as a black streak darted across the night sky. "Call the pegasi! I'm going to persue!" The captain comanded as he launched a magical bolt which the target easily dodged. The new recruit obeyed as his captain began to chase after the black blur in the sky. It didn't take long for the target to leave the castle grounds, but he wasn't dealing with a normal member of the royal guard. There was a flash of Shining's horn as he put up a shield over all of canterlot, trapping his prey. The black hooded figure landed at the edge of the barrier and began to tap thier hoof against it. "It's no use, you're not getting out of this. Co-operate with us and you shouldn't see any harm." Shining warned. He glanced and saw a few cyan feathers at the foot of the intruder. "Stand down intruder!" Another guard shouted as he launched a black bolt of magical energy. This was actually counter productive as it blasted a hole in Shining Armor's shield large enough to let the mystery pegasus escape. "You idiot!" Shining Armor mumbled under his breath, as he turned to face the guard. "I had the situation under control, why did you interfere?" "I'm sorry, I thought maybe you wanted some backup, incase they tried anything funny." The guard replied with a sheepish laugh. "I don't even care that we just lost our intruder, I need to go back and have a word with the princess." Shining dismissed his comrade with a wave of the hoof as they began to walk back to the castle. About halfway back he noticed his companion was straggling behind and turned to face him. "What's wrong? You're not hurt are you?" "I-I can't do this!" The guard shouted as he spun around and darted off into an alley. Wait a sec, nopony in the royal guard has a black magical aura. Plus, my shield wasn't destroyed all at once, it must have been a shield breaker spell! Shining Armor chased after the royal guard while cursing his stupidity. The AWOL guard quickly disappeared as he teleported away. "Good evening Mr. Armor!" A chocolate colored stallion called out a moment after he'd lost his target. "Hello, what can I do for you this evening?" The white stallion sighed after having lost his second target that evening. "Is this a bad time? I didn't mean to interrupt." The brown unicorn apologized. "It's okay, what can I do for you?" Shining figured he could at least help this one pony without messing up. "I was wondering if you knew where a Ms. Rainbow Dash lives. You see my daughter heard about her sonic rainboom, and after seeing one tonight, really wants her autograph." Shining Armor's face lit up for a moment but quickly turned to one of confusion. "I guess that's a no?" The defeated unicorn sighed as he began to walk away. "Actually, she lives in Ponyville. Unfortunately it would be a rather long train ride there and back." Shining Armor apologized as he snapped back to reality. "Oh thank you! Now I know where to go on our next family vacation."  The brown unicorn's expression turned from one of sadness to delight. "Is there anything I can do to repay you?" "Have you seen a white unicorn wearing royal armor run past here?" After a quick no from the happy father, Shining continued on his way back to the castle. However, there were several things that were bothering him. Rainbow Dash is the only pony who could do a sonic rainboom, however she was supposed to be in ponyville. Why would she even be in Canterlot? Or why would she break several of the stained glass windows depicting the history of Equestria?  All of these thoughts plagued him back to the castle, while the brown unicorn retrieved a set of armor for a nearby alley. "Silly Shining Armor." The unicorn laughed as he walked off in the direction of the royal intruder.
