But to this date, Twilight’s birthday, the relationship between the two has been great. Twilight was asleep in bed alone, with Spike in his own bed as usual. The first to awake was Twilight herself, she stretched and looked out the window; she had forgotten it was her birthday today, so she just got out of bed and walked down the stairs to prepare breakfast. Spike woke up only shortly after, he had gotten out of bed too, just like a regular morning, until they went to speak to one another. “Good morning Spike” Twilight said with a warm smile as the purple dragon walked down the stairs. “Morning Twilight, what are you up to?” He asked rubbing an eye walking up to Twilight. “Oh the usual, can you get out the schedule and check what’s on it for today please?” Twilight asked kindly. “Today? I believe I already know that Twilight” Spike said smiling. “Oh do you? Care to tell me?” she smiled. “Well, there really is no other way to say this, so… Happy Birthday!” Spike announced to her, and she immediately blushed. “Oh wow! Thanks Spike! It’s my birthday already? I had no idea!” She blushed more. “Wow, so caught up in the schedule, you forgot your own birthday” Spike laughed softly, and Twilight giggled a bit. “Well, maybe I do worry about that a little bit too much” She giggled as she stepped up to the window to take a look outside, which when she did, she saw somepony in the sky outside, approaching the treehouse. Lots of colors, it was her girlfriend, Rainbow Dash. “Oh Spike! Dashie is coming!” She exclaimed, quite excited. “Oh really? I never knew she’d be up at this hour” Spike stated as Rainbow Dash landed in from the window. “Hey there sweetie” She hugged her friend “Hey Dashie, what brings you here this early?” She asked as she gave her a kiss on the lips. “Well, don’t you know what today is?” She kissed back. “well…” Twilight was cut off with another longer kiss. Spike, being left awkwardly in the middle of it. Rainbow then pulled away slowly. “Happy Birthday…” She said softly as she looked into Twilight’s eyes as she blushed. “Oh wow Rainbow… Thanks… That’s just… Wow…” She thanked as Rainbow Dash went into her saddle bag to take out a gift bag. “I got you a little something, here” She handed it to her. “Oh wow, Rainbow, you didn’t—“ she was cut off with Rainbow Dash’s hoove. “Just open it, it's your special day” Rainbow smiled as Twilight blushed and started doing so. When she opened it up, there was a jewelry box. “Oh wow…” She then opened it up, to reveal a special gift, a necklace, what was on the necklace, was something you would never be able to buy. What was on the necklace, was a feather from Rainbow Dash. “I made it myself” Rainbow smiled again. “Happy Birthday” “I… Don’t know what to say… It’s so beautiful…” Twilight hugged Rainbow, she was way too happy to say anything. “You’re welcome, I love you” She said lovingly. “I love you too…” Twilight responded. “I have something very special planned for us today, are you free?” Rainbow asked politely. “Of course Dashie, always for you” She said happily. “I have one more gift for you” She pulled out two collars that were attached to each other by strong rope. “We’re going flying” Rainbow said as Twilight stood there without words. “Oh Rainbow Dash… That would be lovely!” She smiled wide at her girlfriend. “Shall we go?” She ask putting one half on. “One question first, uh, what exactly do the collars do?” She asked looking curiously at them. “Wanna tell me if you fall off?” Rainbow stated. “Oh… Right, that… Uh, safety! Alright then that’s wonderful!” Twilight took the second half and put it on. “Ready!” She smiled wide. “Alright, here we go! Hop on because you’re in for the love ride of your life!” She exclaimed as Twilight did so happily. “We’ll be back tonight Spike! Bye bye!” She waved to Spike. “Uh… Bye!” Spike waved back. Rainbow started off into the sky with her friend on her back. Through ponyville, and then upwards “Where are you taking me, Dashie?” Twilight asked. “Wherever you want, sweetie.” Rainbow replied. “Well… I kinda wanted to take a walk with you in Cloudsdale, just you and me…” Twilight said shyly. “Cloudsdale?... But you can’t walk on clouds though, only Pegasi can, you know that” Rainbow stated. “But, I remember the spell, so I can walk on clouds, don’t you remember?” Twilight said smiling. “Oh yeah, I do, well, if that’s what you want, then that is what you’re going to get!” She started off in that direction, flying swiftly and straight through the air. Twilight looked down, the view was amazing, and she had never ridden on her girlfriend before. As much in love as she already is with Rainbow, she has just fallen in deeper love, she loved her with all her heart. Rainbow was doing what Twilight wanted to do forever, ride a Pegasus through the clouds. “Oh Rainbow…” She said softly and happily. Rainbow Smiled and kept forward. “Get ready to land in Cloudsdale!” She announced, and Twilight, lit up her horn. The spell she performed was one to let her walk on clouds. “I’m ready Rainbow!” She announced back. Rainbow landed in Cloudsdale where Twilight hopped off her back, onto the soft clouds. “Wow, the clouds make a soft floor Rainbow” She admired. “Well, clouds are all fluff you know” Rainbow smiled and started to walk forward. “come on, let’s take that walk” She said as Twilight smiled and followed. “This is much different than a walk in the park Rainbow, this is beautiful, I just… Love it. I love you Rainbow…” She blushed and looked into her eyes. “I love you too Twilight…” The two ponies walked side by side, admiring each other, but they both kept silent, a walk in the clouds, was bringing them even close together. “Hey Rainbow?...” Twilight asked shyly. “Yes Twilight?” She responded. “There is something I’ve been meaning to tell you… I have a little secret, that you should know” She said blushing. “You do?... What’s that?” Rainbow asked. “Well…” She blushed even more. Rainbow looked into the eyes of her girlfriend, who was about to tell her a secret she had kept. She was thinking how bad could it be? The secret could be anything! “Rainbow… Ever since that day when you entered the best flyer’s competition, and performed that Sonic Rainboom, I’ve had a big crush on you, you turned the art of flying into something much greater…” She blushed as Rainbow kept the loving look while thinking. A Sonic Rainboom is known for its glory and such. Falling in love, however she did not expect this, happened. “Well… Oh wow Twilight… That’s, incredible… I” She was cut off from a kiss from Twilight. “Thank you Rainbow Dash… For being the best girlfriend ever…” The two looked into each other’s eyes, before kissing each other again, lasting much longer than the first kiss. After a long ten seconds, Rainbow pulled away. “I’d be happy to perform a Sonic Rainboom for you if you’d like, I’ve got the energy” She took her half of the collar off while Twilight smiled. “Really? You’d do that for me?” She blushed again. “Of course Twi! Anything for you” She flapped her wings once. “Oh wow!” She smiled big. The very thought of her girlfriend doing such a thing for her, was just wonderful, she knew the Sonic Rainboom was a very hard feat to perform. But Rainbow was willing to give up every last breath for Twilight, nothing makes Rainbow more happy then to see her girlfriend with a smile, ready to say I love you. “Alright then! Here I go!” She flew up in the sky, Twilight watching every second. Rainbow flew far up, before coming right back down speeding up as fast as she could until she broke the sound barrier, performing a Sonic Rainboom right in front of Twilight. It was so colorful and beautiful, and the shocked blew Twilight away a bit, but she stood strong. “Wow…” Twilight smiled as Rainbow flew back up, landing in front of her. “That was amazing!” She hopped to hug Rainbow happily, Rainbow hugging back. “Well, they are known for their beauty” She nuzzled Twilight. “Come on, wanna go and see our friends for a quick visit?” Rainbow asked and Twilight nodded. “Yes please!” She smiled. Rainbow proceeded and put the collar back on. “Well, hop on!” She said, and Twilight did so happily, “Thanks Rainbow that means a lot for you to do something that takes a so much out of you… You’re so amazing…” She continued her smile as Rainbow took off into the air with her. Rainbow flew forward as Twilight enjoyed the scenery, it was absolutely beautiful. “I love you Rainbow” She hugged Rainbow close and gave her a cute nuzzle, this nuzzle made Rainbow blush as it continued for a bit, but Rainbow loved it. “I love you too Twilight, so very much” She looked up at her with a smile, she was paying no attention to where she was flying at that moment, all she could think about is Twilight. Twilight simply smiled back down, but being the first to immediately noticing that there was another pony flying too close to even stop.  She immediately yelled. “R-Rainbow! Look out!” She yelled a bit late as Rainbow crashed into the pony, this crash launched Twilight forward really hard, hard enough to snap the rope holding them together. Rainbow recovered, but Twilight had no wings! She started falling to the ground screaming! “Rainbow!! Rainbow!!!” She screamed real loud flailing about as she fell to the ground at a fast speed. “Twilight! No!” She jolted forward real fast for an attempt to catch her. “I got ya!” She sped up as fast as she could, but reaching Twilight was no easy task. Rainbow had to break the sound barrier again to save her life, the Sonic Rainboom was the only thing that could save her. Rainbow flew faster and faster, pushing herself to the limit. Until, she performed another Sonic Rainboom, but at this point, Twilight was just a few meters from the ground, Rainbow however, managed to scoop down and catch her just before brutally crashing into the ground...
