Once upon a Midnight tranquil, while I scribbled quick with ink quill,
Over many a fact and figure on the shower of meteors,
While I journaled without stutter, suddenly I there came a flutter
Causing all the drapes to shudder and a scroll or two to soar
"Probably the wind," I muttered, "whipping past my chamber door-
Only this and nothing more."
Ah, how faintly I remember, though just it was this past September,
And the only noise athunder was the purple dragon's snore,
Hastily I wrote my teacher - though late it was, I hoped I'd reach her,
For once the moon reached sky's apex, I feared she'd be awake no more,
Deep asleep as Luna watched, as oft she did in days of yore,
So I wrote on, ever more.
