Trixie had never been so humiliated in her entire life.

It had started out simple: she would go to Ponyville, put on a few shows, collect some bits, and leave for the next town.

Things were going perfectly, she had wowed the audience with beutiful light shows, illusions, and a tall tale of how she vanquished an ursa major, she even signed some autographs. Then two foalish unicorns had gone and angered an ursa minor to see her vanquish it to see for theirselves, who in the right mind would even consider thinking about that?

Her pride had gotten the better of her, and she tried to defeat it with rope and some weak lightning, which failed miserably. Then that, unicorn appeared and vanquished it like it was nothing! Never in her life had she seen such raw power being weilded by a single pony, she would'nt have been suprised if the mare had grown wings and raised the sun like Princess Celestia!

Then she ran away, she didn't know where, anywhere to escape further humiliation at the hooves of that unicorn, oh how she loathed that pony, so much power and no will to use it, she could probably level Canterlot if she wanted! Such a waste.

Now she sat in the royal Canterlot library, surrounded by spell books of all kinds, looking for some way to increase her power, so she may truly call herself 'great and powerful', for she had vowed to surpass the lavender mare in every way, no matter the cost. She opened a particularly large tome, written by Starswirl The Bearded himself. "Techniques for increasing magical power" she read aloud. "This looks promising."

Trixie had studied about the subject of magic amplification well into the night, her eyelids were getting heavier by the minute. "Sleep? I do'nt need sleep! Sleep is for the weak!" She told herself quietly, and resumed reading when something interesting caught her eye: an actual magic enhancement spell! Trixie had to cover har mouth to contain a cry of triumpth, gathering several books in a telekinetic spell, she checked out the books she had chosen.

"That's quite a bit of material you've got there, researching for a project or something?" The librarian inquired.

"Something like that." Trixie responded with a mischievious grin.
