On a beautiful Summer day, two mares walk out of their little homes. The mares were young, and beautiful. They hoped to decide something today. And so, they saw the warm sun, and the soft grass, and the chirping birds. But these two mares had depressed faces. They decided, the unicorn mare and the earth pony, that they would end something that they had always planned to end today. On a beautiful day where they could smile before-
It was a very beautiful day for most ponies. But though there was a warm sun, and soft grass, and chirping birds, these two mares had depressed faces. They knew perfectly well why they had such sad expressions. They looked at the large tree infront of them, and they asked "Is this our future, or just a reminder of our past?" The tree did not answer. The two stared at the ropes tied to it, hanging there. The two ropes would be used today.
Even though it was a beautiful day, things that were not so beautiful were happening. Actually, the opposite of beautiful was happening. The unicorn mare, with the talent to play the lyre perfectly, thought her special talent was useless. The earth pony, though one of the best candy makers in Equestria, thought her special talent was worthless. The two shared the same thoughts: Death. Should they change their minds? They had wondered if they should just run back into their homes, like every other day they come outside to find this tree waiting for them, and cry their eyes out. They thought life was unfair. They were discontent, and they were thinking, Is today the day?
And though one of the mares was staring at the huge sky, and saw that it was beautiful, she didn't change her mind. It looks like....today was the day. And though one of the mares was staring at the ground, and saw how far she could see the green grass, she didn't change her mind. And though the two mares just simply stared at each other, and saw that they were beautiful young mares, they didn't change their mind.
A wise old mare was walking along and found these two young mares by the tree. She was very wise, and lived in a barn where she sold apples with her family. She was very happy with her life, and was succesful in her business. When she approached the ponies, all she said were five words, and afterwards she left.
"How about some black tea?"
And so, the two lovely ponies thought about her words. And they thought, Is this our future or just a reminder of our past?, and so, they wondered, Is anything worth it? The mares already had the ropes, and they already had the will to do it, but what was stopping them? They didn't have any family. But, they did have eachother. Maybe...life was worth living. But the mares were still unhappy with their lives. They wanted to throw it all away, but what did they have to begin with?
And so, the two mares made up their mind. They looked at eachother for the last time. One of the mares noticed the other's cream-colored coat, and her curled, pink and dark blue hair. One of the mares noticed the other's aquamarine coat, and her simple, yet beautiful mane style. And so, they remembered the things they said before in their unhappy lives.
"Even in this refreshing wind, I feel displeasure"
Maybe, they were just sad. Maybe they didn't have to end their lives. Maybe, they just needed to bawl and sob until they felt better, just like they did when they were little fillies.
But then they thought of all of their failures. She never got to find out if humans were real. She never got to work as a professional candy maker. Maybe, they were doing this for a good reason. It did not matter, however. They had made up their minds. Today was the day that a very big and important decision would be made by the two, young mares.
And so, even if it was a lovely day for some, and even if it was a day full of melancholy to others, today was a very special day. For, today was the day two young mares had made a big decision in their lives. And, to them, that was all that mattered. They didn't need to be rich, just to die the next day, maybe by a jealous pony, or a serial killer? And they didn't need to be famous, only to lose all their fans the next day, maybe because of a false post about them on one of the leading social sites, or because a dark secret was revealed? All that mattered, was that they lived, and that they chose something when they had to make a big decision. And so, that was all right.
The two mares hoped for the best, and as they looked at the old mare who passed by slowly walking away, and as they thought about their actions in the past, they would look forward to the future. And that, you see, was all that mattered.
And so, the two mares broke eye contact, and instead they both looked longingly at the rope, already ready for their necks to be placed in. And though two ponies would die that day, everything was happy. As it should. The old mare had heard the two mares trotting closer to the tree, but she smiled. Because she knew, that they were happy, and that everything was all right.
And the two mares, both ready to make a big decision in life, grabbed the rope. And everything, though sad, was all right. And though the mares weren't able to be famous lyre players, or famous candy makers, they were happy. And they were together, just as they should. And as they ended their lives with a smile, *everything** was all right.*
