Hi! My name is Barky! And this is my (side)story
My life is simple enough, I serve my master,Zol, and I eat and sleep, but a couple days ago something happened. I was out for a midnight hunt and I smelled a REALLY big squirrel, and I mean like three feet tall! What I didn't realize was that it wasn't a squirrel, but a really depressed baby dragon, wallowing in self pity. Don't look at me like that! Squirrels and depression have very similar scents! So anyways, I went feral and chased after the squirrel-ermm... Dragon, until we reached a cliff ( another factor about the dragon being a squirrel was that he ran like one too, slippery little buggers). I lunged at him only to be blasted back by a magical blast. I thought it was master Zol's at first, because I've only ever seen him use magic, well him and Sir Galahad, he's the- sorry, getting off topic. It turned out a unicorn hit me and ended up blasting me off the cliff! Luckily I read a Daring Do book master Zol had in his library, so I knew what to do. I clung to the side of the cliff, digging my claws deep into the earth, and hoped for a miracle. Luckily one came, I saw a vine hanging off a tree branch and made a grab for it, I managed to grab it and swayed for a bit. The tree branch above creaked but held, I grinned and slowly claimed back up to the cliff top where I saw the unicorn in front of the 'squirrel'. It was trying to steal my meal! I got so angry I didn't even realize I had lunged as I fell off the side of the cliff. Darn it! I thought as we fell. I didn't even get my squirrel! That was when I realized I wasn't falling with something roughly my size, but with something much smaller. For a moment I thought it was my squirrel, it sure smelled like it!But when I looked down, I was holding a purple baby dragon, a sentient being, something master Zol told me specifically NOT to hunt. I could only think of one thing as the ground approached faster and faster. Oops...
After I'd woken up,master Zol, explained to me what had happened, then promptly lectured me on what I can and can't hunt for the millionth time in my life. I would have told him that the dragon had smelled exactly like a big squirrel, but not only would that have made him give me a lecture on that old saying ' look before you leap', but it would have been in vain, master Zol can only understand me when he transforms. Any-who, after he chewed me out, master Zol took me to meet him. He had amnesia from because of the fall and I felt really bad about, I mean, the kid probably had a family or a clutch or... The unicorn. The unicorn must've known who he was! Now I feel worse... As I was feeling bad for myself and for the baby dragon had started to nosebleed and master Zol went to get some tissues or something. The dragon clutched his head for a minute before he looked at me with sheer hatred in his eyes."YOU!" He yelled. He got up off of his bed and stomped towards me. " You did this to me! "
As he poured his anger out on me, I realized he was right, so I did what any dog does when their sad. I whimpered . What happened next I did not expect, he hugged me and forgave me, so I gave him a BIG lick! That was when master Zol returned with a box of tissue paper, he smiled at us while I licked our draconic guest. He set the box down on a nearby dresser and gave me a parchment. I didn't know what he was doing, all I know is that he was giving me a quest, a mission of great importance a-
He spoke in an ancient forgotten tongue, weaving draconic magic into each word.
He was giving me a delivery job.
The magic in his words caused my eyes to change from yellow to green . This was a spell he often used on me, it was meant for me not to forget my mission as I usually did, although he only used it on important missions, like trips to the dragon council. I knew this was an important mission so I left to pack immediately, buy as i was leaving I heard master Zol talk about the young dragon's new name, I stopped and listened. After all, I needed to know what to call my new friend!Then I heard it Laidon... I like it! A fitting name for my new master!
I went to master Zol,s room, it was next to Sir Galahad's room so it really close by. I went inside and looked around. It was just how it always is. The king size bed was in the back ,against the wall, next to it were some dressers, the left one was were master Zol kept his ceremonial robes for special occasions. The right one was were he kept his casual and going out robes, for when he had to leave the everfree for supplies. I didn't really pay attention to the rest of the room, for my eyes had finally found what I was looking for. My little corner of the room where my wooden doggie bed was placed. I walked towards it and lifted it with my snout, revealing a hole under it. I bent my head down and grabbed a brown sack with my teeth and pulled it out. I had made this a couple of years ago, the last time I had to go to the dragon council. It was all I would need for the journey, rations, water,my favorite blanket, some flint, and basic first aid packs. I carefully slung the sack across my wooden back and left the room for the exit.
My adventure has begun!
Sorry for not posting anything for a while, been busy with... stuff, one thing being the new pandaria expansion for WoW, anywaus hopefully i'll be posting more updates, and please comment on this story, i'd really like to know what you guys think about it. EXCEPT... for YOU, you know who you are, you were slendy before I posted this.
