Steel Hoof's Story Prologue
“Death would not be called bad, O people, if one knew how to truly die.”
I sat in my chair thinking. Just thinking. Thinking about all the things I have been through and that now I was safe and calm. All of it was behind me now. Where shall I begin?
When I was just a foal my mom and dad had died and I had to live with my Aunt and Uncle. They were nice ponies but I never really connected with them, I had a brother who did, his name was Cloudracer. I never really connected with my Uncle because he was a pegasus and always liked to race. My mother was a unicorn so I was one as well and my dad was a pegasus, my brother did everything with my father... until he died. My aunt was a unicorn too, but we never really liked the same things. I was always (and still am) a shy pony. When I went to school I tried to stay low, but it wasnt enough. The other ponies made fun of me because i wasnt good at magic they called me stupid and pushed me. I tried to tell somepony, but no one wanted to hear it. They told me I wasnt meant to be a unicorn and should be ashamed... I was. I was never good at magic I could even lift a single ball with my magic it mad me so angry and upset that I couldnt do it, I cried about it alot. Let’s skip ahead a few years...

My brother was off who knows where and I was on my last year of school, numb to most insults now, since I was made fun of so much I survived school. I had found something I loved to do, bake. I had earned my cutie mark by baking he most amazing cupcakes ever. I was so happy my cutie mark was a cupcake pan, until my friends saw it. They said “what kind of colt bakes cupcakes thats so girly” they used to tease me about it all the time! Sometimes i would paint over my cutie mark with dark grey paint because id rather be a blank-flank than a loser with a cupcake pan cutie mark. I had not heard from my brother since he was fired from Celestia’s royal guard and he was really my only friend. I had lived in Canterlot my whole life and I thought about what I would miss if I moved and I thought of nothing so I got the hay out of there.
Most of the people in Canterlot were mean snobs and I wanted to move somewhere quiet, somewhere nice, somewhere like Ponyville. When I arrived in Ponyville I was so shy I barely wanted to talk to the real estate pony about getting a building for my bakery, but I did it. By this time I had no feeling what so ever I had been through so much trauma I didnt feel any emotion anymore. I didnt talk to anypony until I got my bird. My bird had flew into the door of my house and crashed into me! ha! He was hurt and his wing had broken in the crash, so I did what anypony in my situation would do: I looked for a pony who could help. I had heard of a pony named Fluttershy who had been known for taking care of animals so I sought her help, best choice I could have ever made. As soon as I met her I knew she would be my friend, she was shy like me and kind hearted like me! We were talking while she fixed up the bird’s wings and it turned out she had been bullied in school too and that I was not a failure just like she wasnt one either. She fixed my bird and we both agreed I should name him lucky (not a very original name I know). From that day on I had so many good times with lucky I loved him so much he was like my son. One day lucky flew outside and... and... he just started flying away. Him and I went outside alot it’s not like it was so strange for him to be outside! I tried to call out to him, but he just turned around and had a face on that I know said “I love you” and then he flew away I never saw him again. Fluttershy told me that “they have to leave the nest sometime” garbage, but he was all I had... Fluttershy gave me lots of comfort though she sometimes acted like the mother I never had and also the friend I never had. I have a bakery in Ponyville now and I work there most of the time and when Im not working there Im helping Fluttershy with her animals and Im happy like this. I heard my brother was doing OK too Ill have to get in-touch with him sometime soon. What really made me happy though was when my bird left, I felt it. i had not actually felt any pain for awhile before that and it worried me, but when i wept over my bird leaving it reminded me I still had a heart that could be broken and that it wasnt just broken long ago. Im happy in Ponyville and never want to leave I have Fluttershy and it’s quite and calm all the time (except for that discord incident, but thats a different story). So doc can I go?

The therapist pony looked at the colt sitting before her and thought deeply. After some thought the pony said “You know Steel... I don’t think you need to see me anymore I think you’re very happy” she looked at the dark grey unicorn waiting for a response. “You really think so Doctor?” the rather big unicorn asked the fragile looking skinny female therapist pony. “Yes Steel you are alot better than when I first saw you so many years ago” the white colored unicorn looked at Steel with a happy expression on her face. “But Doctor Olivia Ill miss you...” Steel says in a sad tone. Olivia chuckles and say “We can still be friends! In fact let’s meet at sugar cube corner for some cupcakes that you don’t have to make yourself” she laughs. Steel looks down shyly and says “OK I guess so well I guess I don’t to call you Doctor anymore” Olivia responds “No Steel, you don’t.” “I guess Ill see you there then” Steel says and then walks out the door. Steel thinks to himself that he is really happy to have moved to this wonderful town and how much could be still left to experience in his life!
Author’s Note: This my first Fan-Fic so please go easy on me I really don’t usually write MLP stuff but since I write other stuff and I just became a fan of the show I decided to try it out! Tell me what you think and maybe some ideas of what adventures this character should go on. I also have a much shorter back-story for Steel’s brother that Ill be releasing shortly. Tell me what direction to go in and how interactions with the two characters should be Im trying to make my stories a little reader-controlled. Don’t worry Ill try and make the next one a little bit happier haha.
