"Thanks again, Twilight! I just know Rarity will love these!" the kind-hearted Sweetie Belle said in excitement and anticipation. She had been given a small errand by her older sister Rarity to have Twilight give her a certain bag of gemstones to deliver, which she would be carrying on her back. Twilight was a usually busy mare, but there wasn’t anything she wouldn't mind doing for one of her best friends.
"You're very welcome, Sweetie Belle. Hopefully, she'll be very pleased! Bye!" the studious mare waved at Sweetie Belle before closing the door to her library, a smile on her face.
The filly trotted away from the library. Along the way, she passed Applejack's apple stall. It had been adorned with many sweets and treats made with nothing but the finest apples from Sweet Apple Acres. Standing near it were the apple tree-bucking cowpony Applejack, and her younger sister, and fellow Cutie Mark Crusader, Applebloom.
"Hi, Sweetie Belle!" greeted the yellow earth pony filly. "Whatcha doin' with that bag?"
"Oh, it's a bag full of diamonds. Twilight gave them to me to give to Rarity. I just know she'll be happy to see them!" Sweetie spoke entusiastically.
"Well, we don't want ta keep y'all waiting. You best be goin' on with your business."
Trotting in through the door of the designer shop known to Ponyville as Carousel Boutique minutes later comes the sweet unicorn filly. She dropped down from her back what appeared to be a bag full of gemstones. Emeralds, to be exact. She breathed a sigh of relief as her little errand was complete.
"Rarity, I'm back! And I brought the diamonds you wanted!" yelled Sweetie Belle with a high pitch.
Her older sister, the proprietor of Carousel Boutique, as well as the representative of the Element of Generosity, turned around, and beamed when she set her eyes upon the bag which her younger sibling dropped.
"Oh, thank you for bringing me those gemstones, Sweetie Belle. You're such a delight." Rarity complimented. Her eyes were already shimmering, even though she wasn't looking directly at the gems.
"Anything for my big sister!" Sweetie replied.
A blue glow surrounded the small rope holding the bag closed, and it began to untie. As soon as the gems came into view, Rarity's smile shifted to a frown.
"Well, what do you think?" asked Sweetie Belle.
"What do I think? What do I think?! This isn't what I wanted. I require diamonds, Sweetie Belle. These are mere emeralds!" Rarity flustered. At this point, She felt a bit untrusting of her younger sister for such a task.
"Wait, these aren't diamonds?" Sweetie questioned, staring back at the gems decorating the floor of the boutique with confusion.
"No, of course not! Just look at them! Do they look like diamonds at all?"
"Come on, it's not that bad..." Sweetie Belle reassured. Her face showed sadness in not pleasing her elder sister.
"How is it not bad? It's absolutely dreadful! I need diamonds for my next project! Sure, I'm still creating another dress now, but I'll need those diamonds soon! Those emeralds simply won't do."
"Rarity, it took a lot of trouble to get those diamonds. I tried to be a sweet little sister to you and get them for you. I was sure this is what you wanted when Twilight asked what you wanted. Can't you at least be happy that I tried to help?" Sweetie complained. To her, the fashionista acted very unreasonable for a very mature mare.
"I'm sorry Sweetie Belle, but these I cannot accept. I am already behind schedule, and I need those diamonds now. Not later, not three days from now... now." The tension grew inside the white mare. As much as she was busy, she did not like being late and behind schedule. In a way, she is a bit like her lavender unicorn friend, Twilight Sparkle, but in this case, Rarity deemed things a little more important.
"Well, maybe I can-"
Rarity placed a hoof in front of herself, as a motion for Sweetie Belle to stop talking. "No, no. I will just have to get them myself. Why don't you just, oh... play outside with your friends, or something?"
Saddened, Sweetie Belle turns around with her head hung low, walking out the front door.
"But that's what I always do..."
