That Night

The dubtrot blared through the speakers of the stage as I waded through the crowd.

The ceremony was nice, but they had just gotten to the part that I loved most. The reception. I had been present at the royal wedding, being the captain of the wonderbolts had its perks, but the reception wasn't my style. It was just a bit foalish, and seemed really odd for a royal wedding. Though playing pin the tail on the pony was far better than any stiff-collar wine tasting reception.

The crowds around me moved out my way, whether it was the captain status or the fact I was the best-mare was unknown to me. I neared my destination, the bar. It was stacked with all kinds of drinks, just the way Dash likes it. It was her wedding after all.

I summoned the bartender as I got on the stool, "Hard cider please." I told him.

He obliged, setting a large mug in front of me. I grasped it up greedily in my hooves and drank the entire thing in one pull.

"Wow! You sure can drink!" A chipper voice exclaimed from behind me.

Setting the empty mug on the counter, I swung the stool to face the voice.

I pushed my mane out of my eyes to get a better view, and standing in front of me was a mare who was very familiar. She had a curly dark-pink mane that seemed to explode in every direction, her coat was a lighter shade of pink. I glanced around to look at her flank which bore three balloons.

Wait! I know her! She was one of the bridesmaids. A friend of Rainbow's. Pink... err... Something.

"I'm Pinkie Pie!" She said as if she read my thoughts.

"I'm Spitfire, nice to meet ya." I told her.

She moved around to sit at the stool next to me "I know, you're Dashie's new captain! She talks about you all the time! Well, all the time she's not talking about Soarin, or flying, or hanging out with us, or the wedding, or..." the pink pony continued on.

I chuckled 'Damn, she can talk.' I thought to myself 'Wonder what her special talent is, can't tell much from balloons...'

"So Pinkie, besides listing off every single thing Rainbow Dash has ever talked about, what do you do?"

I saw her eyes shine as I asked her that, "Well my talent is parties! But when i'm not partying I run the bake shop in Ponyville, Sugarcube Corner!" then she gasped "Speaking of partying, BARPONY!"

The barpony walked over to us with a smile, but looked slightly annoyed.

"I'll have what she had." Pinkie told the barpony.

I looked around while the pony fetched her drink. Scanning the crowd I found my target, the newlyweds. Rainbow Dash and Soarin were chatting up on the overhang all alone. They would kiss every so often and would never let their hooves separate.

A devious idea formed in my mind as I watched them enjoy their wedding, and I think I know who could help...

"Pinkie, you talent is partying right?" She nodded vigorously while setting down an empty mug... next to three others. I shook my head to make sure I wasn't seeing the extra mugs, and then got back to my question, "Could you help me with something?"

Pinkie Pie looked at me for a moment, then a grin not far from mine stretched its way across her face.

It's gonna be a good night.

Me and Pinkie climbed up onto the stage next to the DJ and made a request, all the while I had started and maintained an evil staring contest with Soarin. The DJ faded out the current music as I trotted over to the mic and said "This song goes out to my life-long best friend, Soarin, and his wife Rainbow Dash." I spoke into the mic, "Don't let me catch you two messing around at practice, you hear?". That got a couple of laughs from the crowd that I now had the full attention of.

They looked at me in silent anticipation, then, I yelled into the mic:

My friend's got a marefriend
and he hates that bitch.
He tells me every day!
He says "Damn I really gotta lose my chick
In the worst kind of way."

She sits on her plot
he works his hooves to the bone,
To give her some bits every payday!
But she wants more dinero just to stay at home,
Well my friend,
You gotta say:

Pinkie stopped dancing and bounced next to me for the chorus.

And that mare could sing.

I guess all his money, well it isn't enough,
to keep her bill collectors at bay!

Pinkie Pie jumped up next to me, and grasped the mic in her fore-hooves. She winked at me then started singing into the mic.

My friend's got a coltfriend and she hates that dick!
She tells me every day!
He wants more dinero just to stay at home.
Well my friend,

As the song ended I looked to Soarin, he was cradling a laughing rainbow Dash in his hooves while he gave me a 'I'll get you back for that' look.

The ponies hollered as we started to leave the stage, but Pinkie stopped me as we got to the stairs.

"Listen." she said as she motioned to the crowd.

"Encore! Encore! Encore!" the crowd of ponies screamed at us.

I looked back to Pinkie, who was smiling widely as if waiting for my answer.

I shrugged and propelled myself back onto the stage with my wings, "What the hay, got nothing better to do right?" I asked her.

The Pink Earth-pony jumped back into her spot and giggled, "Eeyup!"

We sang at least four songs after that, and we were somewhat through our fifth when the something... changed.

Somewhere along the line Pinkie had produced two bottles of whiskey. One of which was sloshing around half full in my wing. We swayed around the stage haphazardly finishing the song, which, I vaguely remember singing in south equestrian about doing stuff 'Ponyrider Style'.

A pony in the crowd slurred out a suggestion. I couldn't hear it, but apparently Pinkie understood drunkenees. She dragged me over to the DJ and whispered whatever song we are gonna sing next into her ear. I still didn't hear what she said, I was too busy poking Pinkies mane and wondering why it was sooooo curly.

She practically carried me back to the front and put me on my own hooves. Music started and she started singing too, but I couldn't comprehend any of it. All I could focus on was the way the cheery mare in front of me bounced to the music. Her mane swung around wildly to the beat, and her coat was a bit darker from sweat. There was a heated blush on her muzzle, no doubt courtesy of the alcohol. She stood on two hooves, leaning on the mic for support while she swung her hips to the music I still couldn't hear.

I could only think one thought as I stood next to her in a drunken stupor, 'Pink is my new favorite color.'

She looked over to me and smiled that huge toothy smile (that had just recently became my favorite thing to see), and I just couldn't help it any more.

I threw myself at her while she was still facing me and met her standing up. I locked my forelegs around her back and pulled her head into mine. Our lips met in a surprisingly soft fashion for the amount of force I put into it.

I had my eyes closed, but I could feel her stiffen she realized what was happening. She didn't move for a moment, but slowly, her hooves removed themselves from the mic and snaked their way up my back. She giggled into my mouth, (which may I add, is the best. Feeling. Ever.) and let her hooves make their way even higher, eventually touching my wings.

The sudden caress of my wings sent vibrations through my body, and before we could react, they unfurled and toppled us to the ground. Luckily my legs were wrapped around her head so she didn't get hurt, and we didn't have to stop kissing. I giggled into her mouth just like she did to me, and we kept kissing.

Rainbow Dash could only stare with her jaw agape as her boss/idol/new friend drunkenly made out with another mare at her wedding.

And the mare was Pinkie Pie.

Most ponies judgement gets clouded when they drink, I am no exception, but for partying to be your special talent you have to be able to pull through a drunken moment that could end badly. Making out with a drunken wonderbolt on stage at your friends wedding was one of those moments.

I pulled away and looked in Spitfire's eyes. They opened slowly and looked back to mine, sure enough, they showed the glazed over look that accompanies being wasted. She smiled at me and giggled, and I couldn't help but want to keep going. But that would be wrong. She doesn't know what she's doing, and she probably won't remember any of this tomorow, but if one things for sure the ponies around us will.

I need to stop this before it gets worse.

I pushed her up a little so she couldn't reach down and continue, "You're drunk." I told Spitfire.

"No 'm not," she mumbled.

"Yes you are, now let's get you somewhere you can sleep." I told her.

She looked at me and the nodded slowly, "'Mmmmkay..."

I gingerly rolled her off of me and got to my hooves. Spitfire looked at me with a sweet smile as she laid on her side looking up at me. I figured since she could barely stand a second ago that walking was not an option, so I knelled over and nudged her onto my back. She got the message and haphazardly pulled herself into a position with her head next to mine and her legs on either side straddling my back. She was very light, well, she was a professional flier after all.

I trotted off the stage, ignoring the stares coming from every direction, and pushed open the doors to the castle halls.

Spitfire wrapped her forelegs around my neck tightly and mumbled, "I really like you Pinkie..."

I giggled a little in return, "Thanks."

She then nuzzled my neck and whispered, "Would you be my speshul someponieee?..."

"I would love to." I told her softly.

"Yay..." she cheered barely audible, "So how's 'bout dinner tomorrow?"

"Sure."

I reached the room the princess provided for me and set her down on the bed. She burrowed into the covers until she got comfortable then fell asleep. I wouldn't be here in the morning and the room was spotless, so I might as well let her sleep off the alcohol in comfort.

I sighed quietly as I left the room 'She's a nice pony, I hope this doesn't hurt her in the long run.'
