okay... before you start reading, find the song "somebody to love" i tried on youtube, you know a link for you, but justin beiber, glee, and a bunch of lesser recordings or covers have systematically murdered this poor song... so find it! go on i tunes, or if you can navigate the web better than me find it that way! but without the song playing the story isn't half as fun... once its found, wait for my signal to hit play, their is a little bit of build up first... setting and what not.

Shining Armors days where usually filled with meticulous paperwork and careful supervision of his Guard. Being captain of the royal guard came with a great deal of responsibility. But today, Shining Armor had very little to do… the princesses had just returned… two of them… after a thousand year absence, princess luna had returned. This was why shining had so little to do today.
Princess Celestia had ordered all guards to vacate the royal apartments. After a particularly embarrassing incident involving the royal shower and arcane black magic, Celestia thought it best to prep her sister to modern life in private…
With half of the palace kept off limits, and the princesses duties put off, there was very little to do today…
This served to depress the captain to no end.
Shining Armor was a workaholic. His work kept his mind clear. Without it…
Shining Armors parents lived in lower Canterlot in a middle class district. Twilight Sparkle, his sister, had recently relocated to Ponyville… and was apparently there to stay… shining didn’t know all the details, and up until today hadn’t had time to look into the arrangement further. Shining’s friends where all work friends, who really didn’t hang out with him outside of the job… this made for a very lonely sort of existence on a day like today.
Shining, after rearranging and cleaning his entire office thirty times… which took very little time thanks to magic… decided to go for a walk in and around the castle grounds.
The castle was clean and regal… but Shining didn’t really notice it so much anymore. To him it was just the same old thing on a different day… lonely…sad… depressing.
Shining hung his head. He was alone. He longed for companionship. He had only had one girlfriend in the past, his sister’s baby sitter, and that had been short lived once he signed into the royal guard.
Shining stopped walking in the great hall… he glanced around… the place wasn’t very crowded. A small group of maids where talking in the corner. Shining felt overcome with a sudden urge…
An emotional pulse which he could not explain or hope to control… Shining’s feelings were about to spill out… he had no idea why, but Shining Armor had a sudden urge to sing.
Shining Cleared his throat, and silence fell in the hall… He began… start playing song here...
“Caaaaaan…”
As if by some spell, without any probing or practice, every pony in earshot stopped what they were doing and looked to shining, joining him as a choir in his plea.
“Anypoooony… “
The lights dimmed… Shining Armor began to trudge forward through the great hall… the voices echoed of the walls and through the rafters .
“find meeeee… somepony tooooooo loooooove.”
A disembodied piano began to play a simple tune…
“Oooooh!”
A disembodied drum gave a beat…
… And Shining armor, the captain of the Royal Guard of Canterlot, began to sing his troubles for all to hear.
“Each morning I get up I die a little. Can barely stand on my hooves”
The choir of ponies interjected in perfect time… the music picked up and shining swayed a bit in his steps.
“(Take a look at yourself) Take a look in the mirror and cry (and cry)
Lord what you're doing to me (yeah yeah)”
Shining Glanced up to a large statue of the Royal Pony sisters.
“I have spent all my years in believing you, but I just can't get no relief, Lord!”
Somepony (somepony) ooh somepony (somepony)
Can anypony find me somepony to love ?
Shining continued his walk stepping in time with the music… he stared off into the space as he went… the music continued…
“Yeah…”
Shining was out of the main part of the castle now, he had made his way to the royal guards barracks… several of Shining’s men came to attention as he passed, but joined in chorus as their captain sang…
“I work hard (he works hard) every day of my life
I work till I ache in my bones!”
Shining’s men marched behind him, captured in the spell of the song.
“At the end (at the end of the day) I take home my hard earned pay all on my own”
The guards removed their helms to this.
“I get down (down) on my knees (knees) and I start to pray.”
Shining armor was on his knees praying to the heavens… then continued onwards.
“Till the tears run down from my eyes… Lord somepony (somepony), ooh somepony”
Shining’s steps where less of steps now, and more like a stumbling in time, going this way and that with the music, stopping to sing and then turning on his hooves to move forward.
“(Please) Can anypony find meeeeeeeee somepony to love ?”
Shining exited the castle grounds; he was now in the trendy shopping aria, his guards still behind him marching in time.
“(He works hard)” they sang.
“Everyday (everyday) - I try and I try and I try”
Everyone, the nobles, the aristocrats all joined in the song…
“But everypony wants to put me down.” Prince Blueblood rounded a corner into an accusing hoof of Shining Armor. “They say I'm going crazy” Blueblood turned up his nose and strutted passed Shining indignantly… he found singing distasteful. “They say I got a lot of water in my brain!” Shouted Shining after him, and then turned on his hooves. “Ah, got no common sense, I got nopony left to believe in!”
Several windows opened, reviling more ponies that all hoof pumped while singing…
“Yeah yeah yeah yeah”
Suddenly, a white unicorn with a blue main and big sunglasses appeared with a giant cherry red guitar. With no prompting she laid out a wicked guitar solo, dancing around on two hooves as she did so.
“Oh Lord!”
“Ooh somepony - ooh somepony… Can anypony find me somepony to love ?”

Shining jumped up on a passing cart, from there to stall, and from there to a roof top…
“Got no feel, I got no rhythm”
He sang as the spectators watched him teeter along the buildings edge…
“I just keep losing my beat (You just keep losing and losing)”
Shining nearly fell but then righted himself…
“I'm OK, I'm alright (he's alright - he's alright) I ain't gonna face no defeat (yeah yeah)”
Shing jumped and slid down a shingled roof, landing expertly on the table of an outdoor café.
“I just gotta get out of this prison cell”
He said jumping down and casually walking out of the crowd of startled patrons…
“One day (someday) I'm gonna be free, Loooooooooooord!” the music fell silent as shinings last words rang throughout Canterlot, echoing.
Shining composed himself, and then simply walked back to the castle… for a moment all was silent
The guards soon trotted up behind their captain… quietly chanting.
“Find me somepony to love
Find me somepony to love”
Some ponies joined them in their march, stamping their hooves to reset the beat… the chant grew louder
“Find me somepony to love
Find me somepony to love
Find me somepony to love
Find me somepony to love”
They were at the castle gates now… the chant was a dull roar now… shining swung his head back and forth, humming and singing to himself as he went.
“Find me somepony to love
Find me somepony to love love love
Find me somepony to love
Find me somepony to love somebody somepony somepony somepony
Somepony find me
Somepony find me somepony to love!”
“Can anypony find me…”
The world went dark, leaving only Shining Armor in an instant of desperate silence…
“ somepony toooooooooooooooooooooo… loooooooove ?”
The world returned and chanting continued on, Shining riding his emotional high out, swaying with the music as he went.

“Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!”

“Find me somepony, somepony (find me somepony to love) somepony, somepony to love”

“Find me, find me, find me, find me, find me, Oooooooooooooooh - somepony to looooooooooooooooove!”

“Oooooooooooooh!!!!!”
Shining entered the Royal Gardens, his men stopped turned and barred the other singers form entrance, the gardens where for authorized personnel only… nobody minded… they all just kept chanting.

“Find me, find me, find me somepony to love”
The chanting died down as Shining turned a corner in the gardens..
(Find me somepony to love)
“Anypony, anywhere, anypony find me somepony to love love love!”
Shining began to come down from the song induced high “find me, find me, find me… love.”
The piano song seemed to scamper away and in a final note, fell silent… the song promptly ended leaving Shining in some odd place between miserable and thrilled.
Shining Armor was left trudging, his head bowed to the ground, in the Canterlot royal gardens, still alone, but emotionally spent. Left with nothing to do, nothing to do at all, except to trudge on…
It was just then, at Shining’s lowest, that somepony happened by, a pink alicorn with lavender eyes, someone who shining had not seen or heard from in years. She saw him first and called out…
“Hi Shiny!” she said in a bubbly tone.
Shining Armor looked up to see the ailcorn mare... He had to double take.
"Cadance?!"

About two years later shining asked Princess MiAmore to marry him, she said yes… then changelings attacked.
for what its worth, i hope you enjoyed the story... it was short and hasty, i know... still its fun to write, and i needed something to do... thanks you all, leave a coment if you find mistakes or problems so i can improve.
