She tossed her towel aside, rushing out to catch up with the other two Crusaders, already headed for their secret clubhouse. “…can’t believe she did that. Diamond Tiara is such a bitch.” Sweetie overheard Scootaloo say as she caught up. “Hey Sweetie, glad you could finally make it. Why the sudden interest in hygiene?”
“Sh…shut up, I just had a rough morning, okay? My sister was being really annoying.” Sweetie hung her head low, showing her general disgust. “And don’t get me started on Opal. That cat is going to end up a rug one of these days.”
Applebloom smiled, stepping in front of Sweetie and grabbing her hoof, lifting it in the air. “Cutie Mark Crusader Cat Skinners are a go!”
Scoots added her hoof to the others, and they all burst out laughing as they continued trotting to their clubhouse. “You wouldn’t really skin her though, would you?” Sweetie asked eventually.
“Well no, probly not. Unless it would for sure get our cutie marks.” Applebloom said after some thought.
“I mean, I wouldn’t really care if she were gone, just, I would probly be in serious trouble with Rarity.”
“She really is a pain. Why do you even live with her?” Scootaloo asked.

“Good point.”
The three foals came upon their well-used clubhouse, clopping up the stairs and settling down to plan their day.

“Should we go after her?” Applebloom asked in a quiet voice.
“Nah, she just needs to figure it out on her own. A dragon and a pony…it’s never gonna work.”
Racing through the Ponyville streets, Sweetie blinked back tears. She knew she shouldn’t have told them. No one was going to understand her. There was really only one place she could even think of to head to. She ran through the summer day, headed towards the Library, just as she’d done many times in the past. “Sweetie Belle! So glad to see you back. What brings you here today?” The perky purple pony asked her.

Sweetie said softly, walking past the purple dragon and brushing his arm with her silken tail.

Sweetie lowered her brow slightly. "Why? What is it anyways?"
"Oh just some reference drawings from some old books." Spike held out the tracings Twilight had made. It showed ponies wearing all too elaborate evening wear and powdered wigs. "I uh, guess ponies used to dress like this?"
The white foal really couldn’t care less about the drawings. She pretended to examine them, but merely stepped closer to Spike. She gazed down between his outstretched arms, eyeing his smooth chest and stomach. She always wondered what scales were like to have instead of fur. Her own coat was as soft as a feather. "Uh Sweetie..." Spike reached out a claw and waved it in front of her face.
She shook her head slightly, blushing. "Sorry, I was thinking of something."
“Well…could I go see your sister then?”
“I guess.” Sweetie sighed. “Come on.” She slumped her head a bit, and led the small dragon down the hall to her sister’s work room. Turning around she found Spike beaming from ear to ear.
“Thanks Sweetie Belle, I know she’s really going to appreciate these drawings.” Spike turned to go inside while Sweetie slunk away down the hallway.
“Bitch won’t even thank you for them.” She muttered.
“Sweetie…did you say something?” Spike asked, peering around the door.
“N…no. I didn’t say anything.” Sweetie answered, not even bothering to turn to face him.
This part was always agony. The white foal would go to her room for a bit, pacing wildly. She knew they were in Rarity’s work room. He was probably making some silly joke or comment, and she was ignoring it. Or Rarity was convincing him to fetch some more gems. Sweetie scowled in disgust. When she had the correct size, she carefully snipped the fabric and laid it aside.
Sweetie's pulse quickened. As Rarity worked her manicured hooves softly along the young dragon's body, he had fidgeted slightly, and now the foal saw why. Rarity sighed, pointing at her sister. “We are going to have a talk about this, young lady. Now, I am going to show Spike out and then I’ll be back. Go and wait in your room.” The white mare flipped her hair to one side as she walked away from the closet down the hallways, shaking her head.
Sweetie could only blow her mane out of her face, shoving a bolt of cloth to the side in her frustration. She dug herself out, trudging towards her room. “Stupid fahbric.” She mumbled.
Sweetie walked sullenly across the hallway, shutting her door behind her. Throwing herself on her bed, she buried her head in between her white forehooves. It didn’t take long at all for Rarity to knock once, and open the door. Sweetie noticed she didn’t turn the light on as she walked over and sat down on the bed next to the foal. She reached out a hoof and tried to rub Sweetie’s back, but the pony turned away from the affection, in no mood for it.
“Sweetie…” Rarity said quietly. “What were you doing in the storeroom?”
Silence.
“You don’t have to keep secrets from me. Your big sis may not be as clueless as you think. You can’t make a hole in my wall and expect a pony that pays so much attention to details to miss it.” Rarity tried to move so she could look at her sister, but found the pony always scooting away from her. “Is your tongue okay, Sweetie Belle?”
“I’ll live.”
Rarity chuckled a little to herself. “You know, you kind of sounded a little like Applebloom before.” She reached out a hoof slowly, touching her sister’s side. “Sweetie…please, look at me, just for a minute.”
Sweetie sighed, and turned her head to look up at her big sis. She was surprised when instead of anger, she saw nothing but compassion and understanding in those eyes. It reminded her of her mother, maybe for the first time since she had been staying at the Boutique.
“I know you were spying on me from the storeroom. This isn’t the first time, either. Whenever Spike comes by, I notice how you change. You become a lot more possessive, and a lot more moody. It’s perfectly normal at your age, and it’s nothing to worry about.” Rarity gave her sister a small comforting smile. It didn’t make Sweetie feel any less awkward.
“You know I’ve told you before that it wasn’t right for you to spy on me or Spike. Sweetie, it’s not because I’m trying to keep him to myself. I just know how confusing this time is for you, and I want only the best for my little sister. It’s not healthy to obsess about these things at your age. You simply are not ready.” Rarity hopped off the bed, walking over to Sweetie, holding her head in her hoof. “I really do love you, Sweetie Belle. I just don’t want anything to happen to you.” She leaned in and gave the foal a small kiss on her horn.
“Now. Are we friends still?” Rarity asked.
Sweetie nodded slightly, her eyes still trying to look downward, avoiding Rarity’s gaze.
“Good. Now, how about I fix us a special dinner tonight. I bet after you eat it, you’ll feel a lot better.” Rarity trotted off down the hallway, proud of her handling of the situations. She was sure that would be the last she’d hear of it.
Sweetie however, hadn’t moved from her bed. She sat still a few minutes, staring at the window, making sure Rarity had gone. Almost in a daze, she reached down underneath her mattress, and pulled out her small treasure; the scale she had smuggled from the Library. As Sweetie kept staring at the scale, an idea came to her. A way to fix everything. “It really is pretty simple. All I need to do is get rid of her, and there won’t be anything between us. She would try on various dresses, or highlight her face with the many exotic bottles and jars of makeup. Rarity would always chase her out, but those few moments inside were worth any punishment.
