Siren
Epilogue
Load Full StoryMidnight Moon trotted along the edge of Everfree Forest, her steps hardly making any sudden hint of noise. The forest was always alive at night. That was the thing Midnight Moon liked about the forest: It was always bustling with energy and was filled with all sorts of life. The voices of mythical creatures echoed in the distance. Midnight Moon cautioned as to where the noises of the night come from.
For what seemed like an hour of trotting, Midnight Moon finally reached her destination, her favorite place to intertwine with her thoughts and memories, a hill that overlooked the entire Everfree forest. At the edge of the hill, a statue of Nightmare Moon erected to a good ten feet tall. A full moon was out, its beams reflecting off of the statue. It gave off a nice, luminescent glow. Midnight Moon reached the peak of the hill, giving off an ambient view of the whole forest. That was one of Midnight’s favorite features about the hill, the view was incredibly breathtaking. The night sky made the creatures in the forest look like moving blobs.
“Good evening, mistress of the night…” Midnight Moon began. “This night is perfect for a song, don’t you think?” She smiled as she asked the lifeless statue. The unicorn felt a sense of nirvana flow through her, as if finding a sense of inner peace. She was indeed a peaceful and joyous pony. Everypony in all of Ponyville accepted her and loved her; she has a nice, quiet, cozy home that was placed half a mile between Ponyville and the Everfree Forest; she has her best friends, the Mane 6, and she has her favorite thinking spot: the hill she went to every night, her hill. What more could she ever ask for?
Midnight Moon sat on her haunches underneath the statue, It’s life-preserving stare gazing down upon her. As Midnight Moon pressed her back against the statue’s pedestal, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, as she did every time she was up on top of the hill. She smiled. She felt like she was home. “Let me sing you the song of the Siren, my lady…” The unicorn’s words were spoken, smooth as silk.
Midnight Moon shut out all of Equestria, facing an audience of none. The song of the Siren flowed out of her mouth in a Fluttershy tone.
“The Siren sings her song for all,
The innocent children so small.
They take their leave and chase the tune,
The tome of the Siren, sung at full moon.
The children smile as they await
For the Siren to judge their own fate.
The Siren sings throughout the night,
The notes are sung, upbeat and bright.
The children dance and play the night away,
The Siren choosing her choice of prey.
The Siren strikes
The children shriek
She takes her prey, innocent and meek
The children never knew what was in store,
For the Siren’s tricks were played once more…”
