The Colt in the Leather Hood
NOTE:
This story was originally something I had to write for school. It was called ‘The Man in the Leather Hood’, but I decided I might as well ponify it, so yeah. If anything doesn’t make sense, remember that. Wait- It’s fan fiction, it can be whatever I want it to be. Anyway, I decided to make the characters Sweetie Belle and Rarity, because the story had two sisters in it, I decided to write this for Halloween or "Nightmare Night". It's only short, so here it goes.
I turn to the television, flashing dull colors across the dark room. The news is on. There isn't much on to entertain me tonight, so I just decided to watch this.
They are talking about him again.
"The nineteenth victim has been claimed in the series of murders that have been occurring around the Eastern side of Ponyville", the reporter says, standing in front of that 'carousel boutique' with the pinkish-purplish checkered roof in the South East of Ponyville.
I actually like hearing these stories, it kind of intensifies the night.
"But her younger sister survived the whole nightmare".
A survivor? A witness? This should be interesting. I lean in enthusiastically to see what they've found out about the killer.
"A school girl named Sweetie Belle was at home, about to leave to go to a party with her sister, Rarity, when the power went out. There was a knock on the door. Sweetie Belle says Rarity went to answer it, while she went into Rarity's room to get a necklace for her."
Lucky for her she did, If she had stayed, she probably wouldn't be alive. I listen to her story. She was a brave filly to go through what she had. I stop listening and look out through my window. A single street lamp flickers in the light rain, not too many of those around here. I try to imagine what it was like for her...
Sweetie Belle starts walking back towards the main room, hearing her sister's words echo across the boutique.
"Hello" Rarity greets. "I've seen you around, you're new in town."
There is no response.
"I'm sorry, I can't help you with anything right now, I'm about to go out", Rarity continues.
Suddenly, Sweetie Belle trips and hits her head on the floor hard.
"Ouch", she squeaks and sits up, she goes to pick up the necklace and realizes that she had been carrying the wrong one.
She sighs and heads back to Rarity's room and opens the chest that her sister keeps all of her jewellery in. She pulls the right one out this time and turns to look out the window to see the last bit of daylight sinking away behind the trees.
A loud scream pierces through her thoughts and she spins around in a panic, it is Rarity. Sweetie Belle creeps out of the fading sunlight streaming through the bedroom window, nervous, yet trying to be quiet. She peeps around the corner and down the hallway, to see a colt in a leather hooded jacket dragging something towards her. Frightened, Sweetie Belle hurries back as fast and silent as possible and dives under her sister's bed.
She heard the colt's hoofsteps and the sound of dragging, now four muddy boots are visible. The colt is dragging Rarity through the room. Rarity's blood covered face stares at her blankly with cold, unblinking eyes. She is expressionless and unmoving.
Sweetie Belle closes her eyes and holds her mouth shut, trying not to cry. She hears Rarity's closet creak open. There is a lot of noise, It sounds like the colt is trying to shove Rarity's body into the closet. Sweetie Belle opens one eye. The colt still has his hood on and is indeed trying to shove Rarity in amongst all the clothes. Once she is in, he struggles to close it, but manages to, muttering in frustration.
As the colt begins walking across the room, something under the bed clicks. He stops and turns to it. Sweetie Belle immediately knows she has to do something to remain undetected and reaches for some fabric to pull over herself. The colt begins bending down to look under the bed and she then sees nothing but darkness. She can hear herself breathing, and holds her breath trying to remain still. After the longest minute of her life, Sweetie Belle can hear the hoofsteps heading out of the room and back down the hall.
I look away from the window, at least that's how I picture it happened. Once again turning my attention to the screen, I hear the reporter.
"We have now got permission to reveal some more info. As the colt was crossing the room, Sweetie Belle managed to snap a photo of the colt with a camera she found under the bed, used for Rarity's fashion designs. Police are currently at the house of the serial killer, we take you live to the scene now".
The image shifts to a helicopter looking down over police carriages all out the front of a house.
Well, there is no doubt in my mind that this is all over. The TV turns off, along with everything else that uses power. The power out here really is terrible, that's why most ponies changed to using old-fashioned lighting with candles and things. I turn to the window and hear a knock at my door. The click Sweetie Belle made was obviously the camera, I realize as I look out among the many police carriages outside. Another knock.
"THIS IS THE POLICE! OPEN UP!"
I simply ignore this request and slip on my leather hood and muddy boots. I look at the wire along my living room entry. Once this wire gets walked on-. Another knock.
"THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE! OPEN UP!"
I walk into the forest behind my house. I don't bother to turn around when I hear the explosion. That has to be about another twenty dead. A new personal record. Ponyville didn't present much of a challenge, The next town might. I smirk and continue into the darkness.
FINAL NOTE: I was planning on releasing two fanfics for Halloween, but school, work and laziness got in the way. I might still make a second with a later release. But today is Halloween, it is currently 2:42pm in Melbourne. I can't write a second story today because I've got to do homework and apologies for making Rarity die, but I had to. I might make an alternative ending, maybe. But I think my next story is going to be about the Cutie Mark Crusaders on Halloween, so more Sweetie Belle. I haven't figured out what I'll do with that yet, so I might just improvise it. By the way, my favorite pony is Rainbow Dash
