The noise. The irritating noise. It would not stop. Dash found herself tightly clamping her hooves over her ears.
"Uh. . . Dash? Is something wrong?" A cheerful voice called to her.
Dash realized that the voice belonged to a certain pink and cheery pony, Pinkie Pie.
"What? Oh, I was just thinking and stuff like that. Being the best young flier, I always have stuff to think about, ya know" Dash said, embarrassed because, the realized the soul crushing noise was Pinkie's voice.
Now, Pinkie and Dash were good friends, but today was not the day to ramble. Today was the day Dash and Pinkie were on an expedition to map the evergreen viewer's denser areas. Dash wasn't particularly excited, but she accept any challenge, including this one.
The duo had been walking, or in Rainbow Dash's case, hovering for a few hours, Pinkie chatting all the way. While Dash enjoyed Pinkie's offer to join her, she didn't want Pinkie constantly talking. This, however, couldn't be helped.
"And then he told me that those fruits weren't forsake! Funny, isn't it? Isn't it?" Pinkie excitedly says, hopping up and down the way she does when she is happy.
"Oh, uh . . . Yeah! It was!" Dash says, trying to disguise her annoyance.
"Yeah, it was- Wow . . . That's SO cool!" Pinkie suddenly says, ecstasy and amazement in her voice.
Dash looks up to see a clearing, and a huge One at that. The clearing contained rolling hills, a lake, and a canyon. It was beautiful. It was like from a dream, but real. This small slice of paradise even had a family of deer roaming free. Taking care to avoid scaring the deer, Dash quietly draws the surrounding area on piece of paper stored in her satchel.
A few minutes later, Dash looks up and sees nothing. More specifically, Pinkie Pie was nowhere to be found.
"Pinkie? Hello? If this is a prank, Its not funny!" Rainbow shouts with a hint of worry in her voice.
"Im down here, Silly!" Pinkie shouts back from a nearby canyon, peeking out excitedly.
Dash groans and flies over to her pink, bouncing friend. Pinkie starts walking further into the canyon, fascinated by the canyon.
"This is so cool! All these rock layers remind me of a, uh. . . cake!" Pinkie says, laughing.
Pinkie opens her mouth and deeply inhaled, and suddenly bursts into song. Dash couldn't quite understand the words, but she realized something. Being in a canyon, noise this loud and powerful could cause a rockslide, or even an avalanche.
"Pinkie, you sure this is a good idea?" Dash shouts over her singing. Not getting a clear response, she shouts louder, almost screaming.
"Oh,its fine! I don't think some mean, rotten, nasty rock is gonna attack us!" Pinkie says and starts to sing again.
"Listen, it could cause an avalanche or something!" Dash shouts loudly.
A light shifting noise is heard, followed by the sound of rock striking rock. Dash looks up in horror, fearing the worst.
'Tap.'
Dash hears a tap noise, and looks down to see a lone pebble, bouncing up from the impact of landing. Dash then hears a louder tap, followed by several more. A loud 'thud' is heard, and a boulder the size of a thick book hits the ground by Pinkie, causing her to jump backwards. Backwards below another boulder. Dash quickly shoves Pinkie out of the way, getting knocked unconscious.
. . .
Dash's eyes slowly creep open to see a fearful Pinkie Pie.
"Dashie, your w-wings are. . ." Pinkie starts to say, but stops.
Dash fully awakes, and finds herself lying spread eagle on the ground. She turns her head to find her left wing completely pinned by a boulder.
Dash slowly realizes that she is securely pinned under a several hundred pound boulder. Rainbow Dash starts to panic. She wildly struggles and becomes even more stuck under the rock as a result. The sudden movement makes the pain magnify tenfold. Dash was trying her best to not show the pain she is experiencing, yet it shows clearly. Pinkie tries to roll the rock off of Dash's wings, but she can't budge the mass of stone.
"D-Dash? A-are you ok-kay?" Pinkie asks with worry in her voice, nervously fidgeting with a few pebbles.
"I don't know, Pinkie. Erg. . . This hurts a lot, Pinkie. Help. . . Get me out!" Dash pleads, fear in her eyes.
Pinkie runs away to find help, but Dash doesn't just wait. She spots a sharp rock within her reach. Dash briefly considers amputation, but banishes the thought. Dash tries to get comfortable and simply waits, bored out of her mind immediately. She begins to madly struggle, and begins wondering if she can lift the boulder.
. . .
Pinkie Pie desperately searches for anything. Other ponies, long sticks, etcetera. She eventually gives up and returns to Dash. Dash comes into Pinkie's view.
Pinkie screams loudly in a horrified tone. A small puddle of blood is beginning to pool from Dash's crushed wing.
"D-Dash! What h-happened here?!" Pinkie half screams, half demands.
"Well, um. . . I tried lifting the boulder. I was able to lift it by a few inches, but I dropped it" Dash says, pain and discomfort showing in her eyes.
Dash will slowly bleed to death unless she escapes immediately, Dash will bleed to death.
Pinkie looks at Dash's pained face, her blood, and the boulder crushing her wing. Pinkie, panic on her face, tries in vain to lift the boulder.
"Pinkie!" Dash shouts, pain showing on her face.
"What, Dash?!" Pinkie shouts back, panicking.
"Im not gonna get out of this easily"
"Um. . . Okay?"
"See that sharp stone?"
"Yeah, I do!"
"Use it to cut me out. Now"
