"What's going on?" Fluttershy asked herself when she heard two ponies charging towards her house at full speed. There must be a race or something, She thought to herself. But she didn't remember seeing any posters about it, or anypony talking about it. Suddenly she heard a series of short and rapid knocks at her door. Without waiting two ponies burst through the door carrying another on their backs. They ran upstairs and burst into her room. they laid the pony that was on their backs down on her bed. Fluttershy followed them and saw that it was Applejack and BigMac. Applebloom was on the bed, and Granny Smith walked in soon after.
"Applebloom, what were you doing, how did this happen?" Fluttershy asked her. Applebloom was lying on Fluttershy's bed. Her back left leg was mangled horribly. There was blood everywhere."Nothing, I was just trying to get my cutie mark," she said in her adorable accent, but now with a twinge of mixed pain and panic. "Applebloom, 'nothing' doesn't practically destroy a leg, I want to know what you were doing," Fluttershy said. "Oh fine," she said "I didn't want to tell you because I knew they would get get upset," she told Fluttershy, indicating the Apple Family. BigMac and Applejack were bloodstained, having carried Applebloom here.
She hung her head and mumbled "Uh u wuzzun a algar." "Applebloom, this is serious, okay, speak up," Applejack chimed in. "Fine, I was wrestling an alligator," she said. "WHAAAAT?!!" yelled the whole Apple family, literally shaking Fluttershy's hut. "I knew you would do that. It's why I wouldn't say what I was doing," said Applebloom. "Okay now that I know that no poison was involved, I can get to work," said Fluttershy. "But first I need you to run to the hospital and get an amnesia pack, okay Applejack? Tell them I sent you," the yellow pony said. "Okay, I won't let you down Fluttershy," AJ responded strongly. But Fluttershy could sense a hint of fear behind that mask.
It was beating down rain with no end in sight. Applejack ran furiously. Fluttershy picked her to go because she knew that no other pony in all of Equestria could run so fast. When AJ finally got there, she could see Nurse Redheart waving frantically, saying things like "Get in here!" or "Get out of that rain!" AJ ran through the doors, barely missing nurse Redheart. Nopony but they were here. "Nurse, my little sister was wrestling an alligator to try to get her cutie mark when it almost ripped off her back leg," she paused to take a breath. "and now Fluttershy is about to operate on her but she needs an amnesia pack so could you please, please, please give me one to take to her?" asked AJ, her mouth moving almost as fast as her legs had done on the trip here. "Oh, I suppose so, let me get it." said the nurse,walking over to a nearby closet. She came back with a pouch full of clear liquid. "Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you, nurse." Applejack said quickly, then ran out the door, running as fast as she ever had in her life.
When she got to Fluttershy's house, she didn't even knock. She burst through the door and ran right up to Fluttershy's room and walked in the door. Panting, and pulling the amnesia pack from her saddlebag, she said "Here you go Fluttershy." "Thank you Applejack. I couldn't have done this surgery without it," Fluttershy said, taking the bag and hooking it up to a machine. She then took one of Applebloom's forehooves and said "This might hurt a little bit, okay?" but she didn't wait for a response. She took a small needle that was hooked up to the machine and stuck it into Applebloom's hoof. "Ouch!!" Applebloom shouted. "Oh, it wasn't that bad," said Applejack. Applebloom was out almost instantly. "Will you please leave so I can Perform the surgery, you can go down to my sitting room." the yellow pegasus said gingerly "Of course we will," responded the Apples.
Fluttershy took her scalpel in her hoof. She made a small incision right at the hole that the alligator made in a blood vessel. She ever so slowly stitched up the massively bleeding laceration. "That makes it much easier now that it won't be bleeding!" Fluttershy said happily. The operation was painstakingly slow. She slowly stitched up all of the small cuts and tears. the last thing to do was to stitch up the big wound. After that was done she put a cast on the filly's leg and washed her hooves.
She went downstairs to find the Apples waiting anxiously for her. "How is she doing?" Applejack asked as soon as Fluttershy stepped off the final step. "She's doing fine. Tomorrow she can go -" Fluttershy was interrupted by Applejack "Why can't she come home today?" "Applejack, I was just about to tell you." said the yellow mare with a great deal of surprise. "Oh, I'm sorry, Fluttershy," AJ apologized. "It's okay. Tonight I just want to keep her for observation. If that's okay with you all of course," said Fluttershy "Course it's fine with me," came the response from the orange earth pony and little old Granny Smith. "What about you, BigMac?" asked the yellow pony. "Eeyup," he said. this was his normal response to any question asked by any person out of the family.
"Well, I'll see you all tomorrow." said Fluttershy. They each said their thanks as they passed through the door. All except BigMac, of course. He, instead, gazed into her eyes. Only she would know that that look meant more than thank you. Later that night, she only dreamed about one thing while she slept on her couch. BigMac. Little did she know, but the only thing he dreamed about that night was her. He dreamed that they were in paradise together. Nopony else. Not a single soul. She dreamed that it was him, her, and two little fillies. One being a small red pegasus, the other being a somewhat larger yellow earth pony. Both dreams had two things in common. One was that they were together. The other being that they were extremely happy.
PART 1 CHAPTER TWO
It was one week after the operation. Fluttershy had stopped by the Apple's home many times to check on Applebloom. The filly's recovery was coming along nicely. When she visited today, she was asked to stay for lunch.
"Oh, no, I couldn't. I have things to attend to." said the shy mare.
"Oh come on now, Fluttershy, you have to stay, I'm starting to feel better." said the smallest Apple, hobbling down the stairs.
"Applebloom, you should be in bed!" Applejack said in surprise.
"Well why can't I be here with the pony who made me better?" Applebloom asked.
"Um, Applebloom, your sister's right. You should be on bed rest." said a shy voice.
"Oh fine!" said the little filly loudly, going back up to her room.
"Well, um, I guess I can stay." Fluttershy said timidly.
"Well that's just dandy!" AJ said loudly.
They all had apple pie for lunch that day. They all enjoyed it. They talked about many things. All except BigMac, of course. Applebloom even came down and ate with them.
But that was when it struck her. She remembered it clear as day. It was at the back of her mind so long she almost forgotten that it had even happened.
"Sorry, everyone, but, um, I have to go...um," she couldn't think of an excuse to get out. "Wash Angel!" Fluttershy said the last part rapidly.
"Aaaawww, Fluttershy, are you sure you can't stay any longer?" Applebloom inquired.
"Oh, um, no, I really need to go now." the shy mare said.
Everyone said goodbye as Fluttershy bustled out the door. Today there was just a normal look from BigMac. When she got out the door and it was closed behind her, she flew, I mean really FLEW. But not to her cottage. Not to Angel. She took off for Rarity's boutique. She didn't even knock. She flew straight in and found Rarity.
"Rarity, I really need to talk to you." Fluttershy groaned.
"Why of course, darling, come sit down." the white mare said, hugging and pulling Fluttershy towards her couch.
"So, what is it you need to talk about?" Rarity asked her.
"BigMac," came the instant reply, " you see, Rarity, when I was still in flight school, I was always picked on by some bullies," the mare said.
"Yes, yes, now, what does this have to do with BigMac?" Rarity asked her.
"I'm getting to it, so, one day they were bumping me around in flight class. They knocked me out of the sky. It just so happened that BigMac was on the ground and had seen it all. Of course, I didn't know him at the time, I hadn't even ever seen him. Well, anyway, he caught me, and saved my life. When the class was over, and the two bullies landed. BigMac beat them up," the yellow mare told Rarity.
"That sounds great, well not for those mean stallions," Rarity said.
"Well, to the point then," Fluttershy lowered her voice, "I, um, think that... I'm in love with BigMac!" she started sobbing as she said the last five words.
PART 2 CHAPTER 2
"Applejack, help me," BigMac said about a half an hour after Fluttershy had left.
"Me? Help you? With what?" AJ chuckled as she asked her older brother.
"Well, you see, about five years ago, when you were still in school, I was taking a walk and wandered under the flight school and saw a group of pegasi in the sky. But something was wrong," he sighed. "The two on the outside were pushing the one between them. The outer stallions kept pushing and pushing her. Eventually, she was knocked right out of the sky-"
"Oh my Celestia, that's horrible!" AJ interrupted.
"AJ, I'm talking here," BigMac said. "Okay, so, I caught her, and it was Fluttershy, I had only seen her before, never gotten so close. I had just saved her life. I asked her what happened, just to get a clearer picture."
"When the pegasi came down, I put them in the hospital," BigMac told her, "Anyways, I ... I'm in love with Fluttershy."
"What?" AJ asked him.
"You heard me, I love Fluttershy. I just don't know ... What should I do?"
"Well, the best I can do for you is tell you that you should tell her you love her."
PART 3 CHAPTER 2
It was one day after they had told other ponies about their love.
"FLUTTERSHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" came a great call. It awakened Fluttershy. She sat up bolt right.
"What?" the mare asked herself, "It's 9:00 in the morning, who could that be?"
"FLUTTERSHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" there it was again. But this time she could tell it was closer. She could hear hooves beating the ground fast, quickly getting closer, and she could tell distinctly who it was. BigMac.
She ran outside as quickly as she possibly could. "BigMac?" she said loudly.
"Fluttershy! There's something I need to tell you!" the stallion shouted. He ran up to her and before she knew it, she was held in his warm and loving embrace.
"There's something I should have told you a long, long time ago," he whispered in her ear, "I... I love you."
"Oh, BigMac," she whispered, "I... love you too!"
In the next year, they were married. On their honeymoon, BigMac's dream of just them being happy came true. One year later, Fluttershy's dream of two little fillies came true. And all the time, for the rest of their lives, they were happy.
