Tick Tock, Goes the Clock of Time

Load Full Story

Electron lay on the bed, snoring. A voice rocked through the caves. "WAKE UP." Electron's eyes opened. He made a buzzing sound and got out of bed. The changeling queen came, floating through the caves. "My darling little changelings, I'm afraid we haven't got enough love for breakfast." Electron groaned with the crowd. "So, I have a plan. We are to go to: Equestria." Many gasps went through the hall. A robotic voice wafted through the hall.

"But Ma'am. What about Celestia?" Who was Celestia? Of course. The voice was a guard's, educated and feeling.

Electron listened as the Queen gave him a scolding.

"Now, my children. GO!" There was a buzzing of wings as the Changelings moved to the entrance, disappearing. Electron went to his favourite place. He sat there, not blinking. "Hey," he said as he felt a presence. His buddy, Cross Stitch.

"Sup, Electron."

"Nothin' much." Electron looked towards the sun. Cross Stitch looked at him.

"Somethin's wrong, Electron. You seem- sad."

"Changelings don't feel sadness, stupid."

"Yeah, I know but- what's wrong?" Electron sighed. He looked at Cross Stitch. His colour was black with wings and a tail, blue eyes, and fangs hanging from his jaw.

"What's it like to love, don't you ever wonder?" Cross Stitch broke out in laughter. Electron followed his lead, knowing he might be saving his skin.

"Nope. You're funny Electron, you really are." Electron knew that! Electron faced Cross stitch. And then he pushed him. Cross Stitch was falling. Electron whizzed down, faster than lightning.

"MY WINGS AREN'T WORKING!" Cross Stitch exclaimed. Electron sped up, rotating underneath him. He grabbed Cross Stitch and rotated so that he could see the earth below. He gasped. "Is that Equestria?"

"I don't know."

Electron heard a voice. "My children, where is Electron and Cross Stitch."

"Here, M'lady!" Electron called out. The Changeling Queen looked at him, eyes wide.

"Why are you holding him like th-th-that?"

"He fell off the cloud and his wings wouldn't work. We saw Equestria, Your Highness." The Queen gave a nod. When he landed on the cloud in front of her, she smiled.

"Come with me."

It was quiet in the Changeling Queen's quarters. "My dear," she said. "I have watched you and it seems you have- feelings. Like sadness, anger. Laughter. And it seems that your feelings are infecting others." Electron looked at her in surprise.

"But I only laugh with Cross Stitch! That's a-"

"And he laughs with others, and they laugh with their acquaintances." Electron's brow furrowed. He hadn't meant for that to happen. Was something wrong with him.

"Electron, my child, I see you are experiencing confusion. There seems to have been some- issue with your creation. Oh well, I can't kill you, can I?" He gulped and shook his head.

"Therefore, my dear, you must try and hide those emotions as much as possible." Her horn glowed and there was a flash as a smile planted itself on his face. "You can still have emotions but they will not get out into the world." He nodded.

"And, you shall be my student." He looked at her. Student? Imagine, being the queen's student. But the smile just remained on his face. It'd be there forever. So he thought.

The next morning, when he woke, He found the smile still plastered on his face. But he could twitch the corners. Why was love forbidden? The colt looked at his Queen. Or tutor. She did look radiant. Don't think that! he thought. The Queen glided over to his bedside. "Come with me now, my child." He obeyed. I watched them whisper to each other. When they reached her office she grinned. "We shall practice transforming your shape." She flickered for a second and in her place stood a white mare with multicoloured mane, golden horn. A princess. Her voice was different too. "My name is Princess Celestia, ruler of Equestria, along with my sister Princess Luna." Then she flickered again and a dark mare stood in her place. "I am Nightmare Moon, come to take control of Equestria."

And then she went back to normal. Focusing the mind, he pictured a tall stallion, like the Queen a bit. He shifted and looked at his Queen. Her eyes seemed to widen.

"My name is Lance-a-lot, Father of Electron. Hmmph." The Queen exhaled. "How am I doing, my Queen?" Her mouth turned into a grinned.

"Absolutely perfect Electron. In exchange for emotions, it seems you have extreme powers." She closed in on him, circling him. "Back to normal." And then it was Electron standing there again. A cackle left his mouth.

"You're finally laughing for the right reason." Electron gained a cocky look in his eye that lasted for a moment. "You are dismissed, Electron. My work is done for the day." Electron whizzed around and flew off. The Queen glided onto her bed.

The picture of 'Lance-a-lot' was imprinted on her mind. How had he even known what he looked like? He had disappeared before Electron was even born! And then, she started to dream of him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lance-a-lot cradled her head. Chrysalis held her pregnant belly. Their first child. He knelt down, kissing the pregnant queen's lips. They thought it was a natural pregnancy, just like the rest. But this was a love pregnancy. An unnatural pregnancy. He stroked back her mane with his hoof. Her body rested against him. His black body was warm, comforting. His lips explored hers. It had been a wonderful night. He looked at her differently now. He looked at her with love, unlike the child-like love her 'children' had for her. No, they were not children. They were genetically made, and cloned. This child was raised inside her womb, being nurtured. She'd hidden her pregnancy well. They thought she had been hogging food. "Chrysalis, we can't stay here." She opened her eyes.
"Why not?"
"They'll get suspicious. You'll have to go away, just for the birth at least, and a couple weeks after."
"Of course, Lance." She turned around, hugging him.
A few weeks later, she had been cradling her little son. Electron. A buzzing filled the air as some changelings latched onto the earth. Confused, the mare detached the changeling foal. Foal. "Your Majesty, Lance-a-lot has gone missing." Fear took hold of her body. She turned to them. She felt tears pouring down her cheek, dripping onto the foal's stomach. It started crying with her. She looked at them. Her horn started to glow green. And then, foolish grins plastered themselves on the fellow equines faces. Numbness for all of them. Her son included. He wouldn't cry if he lost her. Good. But soon afterwards, she noticed him twitching the sides of his mouth and the smile fell. Opening his mouth, she was filled with love. But it wasn't right. Why shouldn't they love when she did? She'd have to conceal it.
