The First NightView OnlineLunaThe First Night"Worry not, Twilight Sparkle. I shalt return to help the ponies of this fair land, and bring back your princess." Luna looked across the vast expanse of terrain between Canterlot and the borders, onward onto the northlands, where the Terr Mountains resided, and the key bringing back Celestia in a temple perched upon a promontory. She watched closely as the sun set, and night began. She spread her wings as soon as the sun's top drowned under the horizon and took flight, beginning her journey. She flew slowly, so as to spare her energy for the coming hours, where she would not get any sleep. Her head could barely comprehend half of the mess that had just happened a few hours ago. The entire event still unfolded moment by moment in her head, a flickering replay of Celestia's limp body collapsing onto the white tile, blood coming from the point where her wings met her body, and her horn, which had cracked open. Luna had been awoken by a royal guard, who immediately told her about Celestia's sudden raving madness. She had walked into the main hall to sudenly see her collapse, for her body to go slack and fall, for her muscles to stop functioning as normal. Luna took a deep breath of the air, which held a fragrance of conifer trees and a cold bitter wind, and set her mind onto flying once more.
Rolling HillsView OnlineLunaRolling HillsLuna flew through the night without event. As the sun rose, she landed on the top of a hill. She stretched her sore muscles and laid down, ready to get some sleep. Then her eyes gazed upon what lay ahead of her in flight. There were hundreds of hills, lapsing into one another, smoothly rolling along as one. A breeze came through and all of the hills began to move. Well, not move, but gave the impression. The blades of grass flowed in perfect harmony, dancing in the sun and wind, rejoicing for the new day. The dew drops which coated the grass glittered in the sun, sending their flickers of light in every direction. The breeze abated and the grass returned to normal. Luna once again curled up to sleep once more, to restore her strength and stamina for the coming night. She closed her eyes and within minutes, all that there was to be heard was a soft breath as Luna slept.
Darkened TravelsView OnlineLunaDarkened TravelsLuna awoke as the sun began its descent below the horizon. She gave her wings a flap, then lifted off into the sky, eager to continue her nighttime flight. One thing hit her she flew. It was dark. Even she could hardly see as she flew. She turned her head skyward and saw just a tiny sliver of moon in the sky. She turned her head back to the foward position, the darkness doing nothing to hinder her flight. There were two tall shadows right in front of Luna as she flew; she flew around them, only to get snagged in branches and leaves. Luna tried to hold onto a branch she managed to grab a hold of, but slipped, and found herself falling through the mess of branches down to the forest floor. She landed with a thump on the soft ground. She picked herself up and cast a Light spell. She looked at all the sap and burs in her coat and cast a Cleaning Spell, removing any disgusting substance from her coat. She now began to walk on hoof, for it was not possible to perform magic and fly at the same time. Luna walked slowly through the forest, listening for woodland creatures, having become fond of the small critters. "Oh, Celestia, if only you were here."
Mountain SnowView OnlineLunaMountain SnowLuna felt the chilled wind blow across her stretched form as she flew, and shivered. She blinked to clear her eyes of the fuzz that had appeared because of tiredness, and fought on. After a few hours, the sun began to rise, and she found herself at the foot of the mountains, snow falling down, blanketing everything. The sunlight shone on the white powder, sending it's rays bouncing in every direction. Luna felt her jaw drop at the sight. There was nothing in Equestria that could rival this sight in sheer amazingness, at least, the places that Luna had seen. She flew down to the snow and ran a hoof through it, enjoying the cold against her hoof. She shivered as the shockwave of cold passed through her. She cleared and area in the snow and curled up in it. She closed her eyes to sleep, but not before taking one last look at the snow. Luna found herself in a blackness. She tried to move, but found her hooves to planted firmly on the floor of the place. She struggled then decided that the attempt was in vain. She stood, waiting for something to happen. "Run. Run Princess of the Night. You know that it is your fault. Celestia should have known never to trust you. But she was foolish and trusted NIghtmare Moon. You run and tell yourself it is to bring her back. But is it? Are you simply running away from what you did?" This voice spoke in deep tones, and had a demonic affect to it. "Begone, foul knave!" Luna shrieked to the blackness. "I cannot begone, fair Luna, for I am you..." Luna felt her skin rip and tear. She screamed as agony ran through her body, and looked down at her hooves. Her hooves were changing, becoming something she had sworn she pushed away. Just as the horror and pain reached it's peak, Luna awoke. She found herself dangling in the air, crushed in the hand of a giant creature.
HeldView OnlineLunaHeldLuna began to breath deeply, calming herself. "What in -," she gave a pause before she said her sister's name. "Is going on -" She was cut off by a gruff voice. Luna did want to think unintelligent, but she didn't want to be rude to whatever creature it was. "Quiet!" She turned her head as up far as she could in the rib-crushing grip to see a, once again, Luna did not want to be rude, not the most handsome face she had ever seen. The face looked squashed, with a bolbous nose and eyes that were too close together; it's bottom row of teeth jutted foward from the mouth, creating a permanent snarl. Luna did not want to see the creature smile. The head of the monster turned to the right, looking at something Luna could not see. It spoke in an unintelligible language, and Luna tried to piece familiar words from it. Then the creature's hand turned to show Luna a gigantic camp, and Luna had no doubt that was where she was headed.
Giant CampView OnlineLunaGiant CampLuna was placed on a patch of grass as the monsters began to walk around the campsite, screaming words in their language. After they both finished yelling and waving, dozens of the creatures came out from caves and tents to see the new arrival. Luna sat awkwardly as the beasts surrounded her, making sounds of awe and suprise. There was a booming voice. It came from the largest tent in the camp, which was decorated with a ghastly collection of skulls and bones. The voice was in English(safe guess), so Luna could understand whoever was speaking. "Welcome, alicorn. It has been so long since one of your precious kind has visited us. I believe it was a particularly annoying royal one called 'Celestia.' She was such a prat." Luna bit back a retort. It would not be wise to anger such large creatures. "May I inquire, what species are thou?" All of the creatures laughed hyterically. One even fell over, making the ground quake. The booming let out a hearty chuckle before continuing. "Oh, so forgetful are the mortal ponies. They never seem to remember the biggest and the baddest, but if it to be reinstated that our kind is strong and important then alicorns must know! "We are the giants, a race proud and tall! We do not flee, we do not run! We stand our ground against all threats, and --" The giant was interrupted by Luna. "I assumed the giants had gone extinct. Your kind has not been spotted in centuries." "That is because Celestia's wretched subjects repelled us. They despised us based on the lies a princess gave." "I do wish I could help thou, but I am on a very important mission. I need to be on my way now." "Yes, go. My subjects here grabbed you merely out of curiosity. Alicorns that aren't trying to control us are rare." Luna bid a royal farewell to the giants, which left them knocked to their rumps by the strength of her voice. She flew off, flying northward.
The Mosiac ValleyView OnlineLunaThe Mosiac ValleyLuna could hardly believe how far she had traveled in just four days. The northlands now lay mere miles away from where she stood on an old hill. She began her flight once more, hoping to reach the border by moonset. She flew high above the treetops, her eyes squinted as she tried to see in the new moon light. She flew over hundreds of trees, hearing leaves rustle below her as she flew by. Eventually, she saw something worth seeing. She looked down to see dozens of lights below. They did not falter or stutter, nor did any living being down there. Luna flew down, her curiosity peaked. She landed on the ground by the nearest light to her aerial location. She cast the Light spell and found herself looking at a small house made of compact sand. She walked to the door of the sand hut and knocked. Not a single noise came from inside, and no one came to answer the door. She nudged the door handle with a hoof. There was a click, and the door swung open. Inside, a detailed mosiac of Celestia and her defeating Discord when he ruled Equestria. Luna stared at the mosiac for a while, then walked out of the building. She walked over to another one, which also opened when she touched the door handle with her hoof. It swung open and she found herself facing Nightmare Moon. "Well," a voice said from behing Luna, who jumped. "Not many ponies have found the Mosiac Valley in a while." The pony stood by Luna, his eyes seeming to pierce into her. Luna looked embarrassed as her cheeks became slightly red. The pony was clad in a dirty fabric shirt, and appeared to be very poor, his hooves muddy and coat dirty. "The Mosiac Valley?" Luna questioned. The pony walked inside the sand house and came up to Luna. He sighed heavily. "Not even the alicorns who founded Equetria remember this place." The pony looked Luna deep in her eyes, as though trying to discern her feelings. "I would have expected you, the Princess of the Night, to remember such a place, but obviously, I am mistaken." Luna watched him as he began to pace across the dirt floor. "This valley has been cared for by me for hundreds of years. I was given immortality by you yourself, Luna, to watch over this valley for all eternity." "What is thou name?" "I do not know. I have lost so many memories in the time I have spent here, and no alicorn can bring the missing memories back." The pony seemed to stumble as he began to fall into a trance. Luna walked from the hut into the cold night air. She looked back into the hut to examine the mosiac one last time, then spread her wings and continued her flight
