Good Enough for Me
Prologue
"Hey Dash, Check out this loop! Hey Dash, bet I can beat you in a race! Hey Dash, we should totally go out on a date! Hey Dash this, hey Dash that! I'm so sick of all these buff and cocky colts asking me out! They think they can win my heart just by flexing their muscles or giving me googly eyes and eyebrow wiggles? Who do they think I am anyway? It's just so frustrating!" Rainbow Dash screamed as she kicked her hoof against a nearby bookshelf, causing a book to jump off it's shelf and onto her head. "Ow! I mean, who do those colts think they are?! I'm not some trophy marefriend that you can just put on display for everypony to see! Don't they know I have a beating heart and feelings just like everypony else?" Rainbow demanded, but whispered the last few words of her sentence.
Rainbow Dash had come to Twilight's library in hopes that the brainiac of Ponyville would have some sort of solution to her problem. Twilight always did, of course. No matter what kind of problem it was! Whether it be physical, mental or emotional, everypony could always look to Twilight for advice about anything... Well almost anything.
Rainbow Dash's problem was something she knew the librarian had absolute no experience in, so how could she help when it came to those types of situations? What did it matter anyway? It would be a complete waste of her time to go and seek Twilight for help, but she had already tried to confront her other friends and quickly chickened out before she could mention anything about her problem. They would probably just laugh, or be incredibly shocked to find out that the tomboy, daredevil, was secretly into nice colts. She was the complete definition of awesome! So how could she let something as silly as her emotions ruin such a great reputation? But now her reputation didn't seem as important as it used to.
Her emotions were indeed getting the best of her, and it felt... good.
Rainbow Dash felt completely uplifted when she though about that perfect gentlecolt. His soft, kind voice, his piercing yet gentle gaze, his warm smile making the grass seem so much greener and the sun shine brighter than a million would all together. The activities they would engage in like laying together on an open field of grass, swaying softly with the afternoon's gentle breeze. Her face buried into his cozy coat, softer and more comfortable than any cloud she had ever slept on. Every time it slipped her mind, she would always daydream to the point of being completely absorbed in a trance-like state. One in which nopony could disturb her from. Quietly sighing to herself every now and then ensuring that she was still breathing and not entirely mesmerized.
In her mind, these sappy feelings were a seriously messed up problem. Like a disease had befallen upon her with no known cure and was slowly eating away at her awesomeness like a parasite until it was completely devoured! But in her heart it felt sensational. As if the illness she had been suffering from for so long was actually the cure to eliminate the pain that tugged at her heart. And the parasite was actually feeding her heart with new emotions that were oblivious to the mare up until now. Rainbow Dash had to let sompony know about her new found emotions, so she finally decided to ask the least likely pony to be surprised about her situation. Which she thought was Twilight Sparkle. She was her very last option, after all. And since all else failed, she had nopony else to turn to.
"This is why I need your help Twilight." Rainbow explained as she looked deep into Twilight's eyes.
"Why would you need my help? I see you getting asked out all the time. Are you telling me that, out of all those colts that asked you, you had no interest in any of them?" Twilight raised a confused eyebrow.
"No, Twilight." Rainbow Dash said with a sigh. "You see I've never really, romantically been asked out before. I'm usually just the prize of some stupid game the stallions make up without my approval and expect me to comply to their rules."
"That's terrible! They shouldn't just play with your emotions like a toy. Emotions are very fragile, and delicate, especially for a mare in your situation. Colts can be so insensitive of a mares feelings sometimes." Twilight said as she rolled her eyes. "But out of all your friends, why pick me? I mean I could understand why you didn't ask the other girls. Knowing them, they would probably laugh or think it was a really bad joke and ignore you like it's no big deal. And Pinkie would probably throw a 'Rainbow Dash Is Into Nice Guys' party. That mare really should think more before taking action sometimes, but that's Pinkie for ya. But what I don't understand is, why not Fluttershy?"
"Well that's the thing. I was going to ask her, but I doubt shes ever even had any romance in her life. Yeah, maybe she could be into Big Mac, but seeing how shes always so bent up with taking care of animals, I can't imagine what she would do with a coltfriend. Besides, that colt is always busy on the farm. I don't know where he would find the time to spend time with her. To be honest, I didn't think you would have a romantic life either, you know... with you being an egghead and all. But you do read a lot! I'm sure you've read a few sappy novels here and there." Rainbow's eyes widened hopefully, her smile stretching from ear to ear and her face closing in on the mare she was seeking advice from. It was a little creepy if she'd stopped to think about it.
"Hey whats that's supposed to..." Twilight tried to argue otherwise with the rainbow maned pony, but was quickly interrupted.
"Twilight I know this doesn't sound like... well me, and I really hate saying this, but I really need your help." Rainbow said, cringing as the words bubble from her gut, and up into her throat. Sweat dripping from her brow, and the blood in her face draining away, making her look pale.
"I can't believe what I'm about to say, but... I'm desperate!" The words finally came out like she was being sick, and she recovered herself much as if she really had thrown up. Her pale face now regaining its natural colors and the sweat trickling down her face now dried. She was relieved to finally get that weight off her chest, but it still didn't make her feel much better. Telling somepony about her love interests wasn't going to change anything. Something deep in her heart knew that. Sitting herself down, Rainbow Dash slowly leaned against the bookshelf she had kicked earlier and sighed a lonely sigh. "I just want a colt who's smart, sweet, and sophisticated. Those standards aren't too high are they? If they are, I really don't care about much else, as long as he treats me like a mare and not like another one of the guys."
Realizing how serious Rainbow Dash was, Twilight sat next to her rainbow maned friend and smiled. "What do you need to know?"
"Wait you're really gonna help me?" Rainbow Dash said, looking up at Twilight with a confused gaze.
"Anything for a friend in need. Besides this could make a good letter to write to the princess about love." Twilight responded with a warm smile, then embracing the cyan pony in a gentle hug.
Standing up, Twilight gracefully waltzed towards the front of the library. Using her magic to open the door, Twilight allowed the radiant rays of the afternoon sun seep into the library. Soaking every inch of library's inner walls with a variety of different hues of yellow's and orange's. The sounds of songbirds chirping beautiful melodies and the wind softly blowing against the library's tree leaves, causing a symphony of nature's most delightful music. Deeply breathing in and out, Twilight let out a quiet "ah" as she absorbed every inch of the beauty that awaited outside.
Turning back to Rainbow Dash, Twilight wore a confused look on her face as she noticed the rainbow maned pegusus still sitting dumbfounded against cold the bookshelf. "Well what are you waiting for?" Twilight Said with a smile.
"Huh?" Responded Rainbow.
"Let's get started!"
