Chapter 1
I stood on the pedestal like I have been for the last couple of weeks and waited for the perfect timing to make my escape. My arms are tethered with chains to the stone surface of the wall behind me. What did I do you may ask, nothing at least nothing yet. You see I’m a diamond dog but according to everyone else I’m the diamond dog that’s the most abnormal.
It all starts back from when I was a little pup my mom gave birth to a litter of diamond puppies and one of them was yours truly. Now the reason I say I’m abnormal is when I was born, I was born with 3 marks one on both my paws and one on my forehead. On my right paw is a lightning bolt, on my left paw is 3 wind marks and on my forehead there is a blue star or so I’ve been told.
Though other than that you could say I was a decently normal diamond dog. I have light gray-blue fur and my eyes are gray. Now other than the marks on me I was completely normal so I was allowed to play around with my brothers and sisters just like everyone else. Until one day I was outside the den I was sitting under a tree. I like playing with my friends and everyone else in my family though I do prefer to stay by myself most of the time and just think about life.
Well I was looking at my paws and I was wondering what do the marks actually mean. So I closed my eyes and thought about electricity going through my right paw and just sizzling on there without singing my fur. Oddly enough it actually worked when I opened my eyes there was electricity running up and down it. I thought If it worked for electricity on my right palm then maybe If I did the same with my left paw, air would course through it.
So I did and I got the same results except with air this time. Then I got up from where I stood and tried to see if I could launch the electricity out of my paw and shoot down the trees around me. I jumped into the air, the wind blowing through my fur as I pointed my paw downward and shot bolt after bolt of electricity down at the trees below.
Those trees weren’t sturdy enough to withstand a blow from my blasts, whatever was left of them was charred and nothing more than stumps. If anyone walked by and saw that, they would have assumed that the trees caught on fire and took too long to be extinguished. I landed on my paws and then blasted the trees with my left paw. The air that erupted from it blew the smoldering remains of the trees into dust and made them disappear into the surrounding air.
When I was done I extinguished the lightning from my right paw and made the air slowly dissipate from my left paw. I felt extremely powerful now that I could control deadly elements. My mom always told me that my body was the body type of an alpha male and with my newly acquired powers I would be able to become an alpha any time I felt like it. When I turned to go back into the mines that we lived in I saw the rest of my pack give me strange looks of horror and fear.
When I made it back into the caves I went right to my mother and told her about my accomplishments, she was happy for me and also presented me with a gift a light blue sweater with a lightning bolt endorsed on the back. I was ecstatic by the gift and gave my mom a warm hug. She also told me that it was magically enhanced so that it would grow with my body so that I would never have to get a new one.
Now at that moment I felt happy, everything was ok and seemingly I had a great future ahead of me but after a while people kept their distance and over the years I trained myself to be able to control my powers until I was sure that I can control them fluently. Though once I did a couple of diamond dogs jumped me when I was at my weakest, they knocked me out until I came to chained in the very room I’m standing in now.
Now any normal person would go insane by now but I didn’t instead of doing that I tried calculating a way to get out of here and exact my revenge on whoever did this to me. A couple times a week some guards and other dogs came in to mock me and say I’m a freak try though, I kept my eyes close and focus on trying to find a way out. For the entirety of the time that I’ve been in here I’ve never spoken, not a single word has been uttered ever since my unfair imprisonment.
I opened my eyes and looked at my surroundings for the second time since I’ve been in here. I was in a 10ft by 10ft by 15 ft., high room the only entrance and exit was the barred doors in front of me and there was two guards blocking it on the outside. I decided that the best course of action was to manipulate the air around me to cut the chain. I concentrated on trying to summon air currents to chop the chain into pieces.
After a few minutes of concentrating I heard the chains snap and hit the wall in back of me. I quickly did a couple of stretches to make sure that my body was in top physical condition. Other than a little pain I felt from my arms being like that for a couple of weeks I felt completely fine.
I put the hood up on my sweater and eased my way silently to the cages. When I got there I edged my right paw (crackling with electricity) out of the bars and touched the armor of the first dog the iron increased the frequency of the shock and electrocuted him, then the lightning transferred to the next dog very quickly and soon after yelps of pain the both fell down unconscious with small tendrils of electricity going in and out of there body.
The keys to the cell were on the floor and I couldn’t reach them so I focused the air currents around the keys and levitated it to the lock and unlocked the door. When I walked out I looked down both sides of the hall no other dogs in sight. While I’m here I might as well liberate some of their gems, a small price to pay considering I’ve been trapped in there for weeks. I put my nose to the ground and sniffed out where they were hiding their massive hoard of gems.
Conveniently enough it was right underneath me, with a slight smile on my face I dug down. After a while of digging down the floor crumbled and I fell and landed in a pile of gems. I decided to look for a backpack of some sort so that I could carry it all in. I turned to my left and spotted a dark blue backpack with one strap that goes around my right shoulder. I picked it up and saw a slight blue aura appear when I opened the bag up. I immediately started to levitate as much gems as I possibly could and made them float into the bag.
Soon I started to notice that the inside of the bag looked like it could go on forever but after a while I could start to see that it was getting close to the top so I stopped and put the rest of the gems back. I quickly looked at my collection; it was filled with at least a couple thousand different gems of different size and color. I zipped up the pack put it over my shoulder and quickly exited the premises.
I then left the room and dug my way up to the surface once I made it out I hear alarms blaring. I knew that my lucky streak had ended but when I looked over the horizon all I could see was desert and mountains around me. I was a long way from home and I wasn’t looking forward to surviving the desert but it was either this or get captured and I did not want the latter of the two. Before I took my first step to freedom I felt something weird around my collar, when I looked down I saw that one of the jade stones on my collar grew in size.
Legend has it that when a diamond dog does something extraordinary the collar around their neck makes whatever stone they have around there neck grow in accordance to whatever feat they accomplished. At least that was the story the other diamond dogs would pass around. I admired the stone for a little while then realizing where I was I sprinted across the desert to try and outrun the pack of diamond dogs chasing me down. All the while I had this strange feeling that I was being watched.
