Prologue: First Meetings
Soarin is having a rough day, at first it seems like it was going to be a fine day until he hears about the upcoming Gala.  He did not like going to theses things because everypony that is there are all the same: rich, snobbish and have nothing interesting to say.  Even if that one Gala where six random ponies came to it and actually made it interesting, he might even go as far as to say it was fun.
So he decides to go there even if those six won't be there.  He then puts on a fake smile that he puts on every time he goes there and does what he normally does, ignore the ponies all around him and concentrate on the music.  Somehow the music from that one grey earth pony cellist seems to help him get through the night and remain sane enough to not do anything crazy.
When he finally arrives and was about to go off near the stage, he finds himself in front ot Fancy Pants.  Now this pony is actually a good sort because he is not like everypony that is at the party and even his wife named Fleur is a nice mare.
"I say good sir, I noticed you like the music here?" said Fancy Pants
"Yea, it is good and dare I say wonderful." said Soarin
"You do know you could easily meet them if you want."
Soarin then develops a small blush and says "Well, I'm actually interested in just one of them."
"Well now," said Fancy "Which one is her?"
"The cellist."
Fancy then rubs his chin with his hoof and says "You mean Octavia, yes she is a fine one why don't you go meet her, her part is almost up and this may be your only chance."
Soarin then thanks Fancy Pants and heads on towards the stage while at the same time dodging anypony that are looking for him.  When he finally arrives there, he sees her putting her cellist away and says "Good evening ma'am, that was some fine music you played."
"Great, another one." said the cellist
"I beg your pardon, what do you mean?"
"I know your types, first they compliment my music, then they ask if I want to have a drink with them then all of a sudden they just want to use me for there own personal gain or to sleep with me."
Soarin then tries to think of something and says "Well I'm not one of them, I would never do anything of the sort."
The mare then turns around and says "Ok then, why are you here?"
"Just trying to find something interesting at this boring place."
The mare laughs at this and says "Well I would agree with you there, this party seems to be boring almost every year, except for that one time where this random pink pony came and actually made it funny in a way."
Both of them then laugh and Soarin says "Well now miss..."
"Octavia."
"Octavia, my name is Soarin and I hope to see you again."
"Well then you would heve to wait a month, I'm going to Ponyville to visit my sister that lives there."
Soarin then was dissapointed until he realizes that he has a months worth of vacation time saved up and he did not let Octavia know and instead says "Well now, I'm sure we will meet again soon."
"Ok then, see you soon."
After she leaves, Soarin then met up with Spitfire and says "Hey cap, mind if I take a vacation?"
Spitfire turns to him and says "For how long and is this about a mare?"
Soarin then gets another surprised look and says "Well, yes I want to see a mare thats going somewhere on a little visit and as for how long, a month."
Spitfire then looks at him with a suspicious look but changes and says "Alright fine, you do deserve it after all the hard work you put in besides, our next show is in an month."
"Tahnk Spitfire, you're the best."
"Whatever and by the way, who is this mare you want to see?"
"Well, she is going to Ponyville to visit her sister."
"Soarin, don't tell me what she is doing who is she?"
"Her name is," Soarin gulped and said "Octavia."
"The cellist!" said a surprised Spitfire "You do know about her sister right?"
"What is is about her sister that I should be worried about?"
"Well, she is a bit of an party animal and has a knack for music."
"Who is her sister Spitfire?"
Spitfire then takes a deep breath and says "Vinyl Scratch."
Soarins face now goes from surprise to shock.  At one point he had a crush on her and went out on a few dates, but it was only a minor fling and they broke it off.  But now hearing that she is the sister of Octavia his new crush, things could turn out more awkward then before.
His mind then goes on back towards the day they met,

Ten years ago
Soarin was busy doing a few tricks when he hears some sort of music coming from somewhere and when he goes to investigate, he finds an whit unicorn mare.  At first he was nervous, he was still a young colt and was just getting used to school.  So he then decides to go to her and talk to her.  After he lands he says "Hey there, what are you doing?"
"I'm makig music." said the whit unicorn
"Cool, what kind of music?"
"Well, I don't know yet but I will find out soon enough."
"Wow, anyway my name is Soarin." he said sticking out a hoof
"I'm Vinyl Scratch." she said while shaking his hoof

Present
Soarin then gets out of his thoughts and says out loud"This might gwt more awkward then before."
"How so?" said Spitfire
"Well, I once knew Vinyl before I became a Wonderbolt and well, we were more then friends at one point."
"Wow, an old crush that you once knew is in Ponyville and not only that she is the sister of your new crush.  That could be awkward."
"I know, what do I do?"
"Well, I'm sure Vinyl will accept you as a freind and welcome you back, as for the rest you have to figure it out yourself."  she said but then gets an concerned look on her face and says "By the way, why did you two break up?"
Soarin then takes a deep breath and says "Its a long story and I don't feel like talking about it."
Before Spitfire could say anything Soarin flew off and went home.

After Soarin went home, he lays in bed and thinks about what he is going to do, "What should I do, maybe I could go and Vinyl won't regonize me, but then she will and may not welcome me and would tell Octavia what happen between us.  Know what, I think I will go and take whatever happens head on"
He then falls back to sleep with a smile on his face and happy on his decision.

The next day, Soarin just got out of bed and was about to have breakfest when he hears a knock on his front door. "Who could that be?" Thought Soarin
As soon as he arrived at the door and opened it he was surprised to see Fleetfoot there.  "Fleetfoot, what are you doing here?" said Soarin
"Well, I heard you are going on a small vacation starting today and I want to say good luck on finding this mare." said Fleetfoot
"How did you know it was a mare?"
Fleetfoot laughs and says "I didn't, you just told me."
Soarin then facehoofs, gets a confused look and realizes that he sure stepped into that one.  "Ok fine, I am going to see some mare that I want to see that is heading off towards Ponyville."
"Well then all I have to say is good luck."
"Thanks Fleet."
"No problem."
After Fleetfoot left, Soarin then leaves his uniform home but still takes his goggles.  He then heads on out towards the direction that he knows it Ponyville is at.

After about an hour of flying, Soarin finally arrives at Ponyville and the first thing that happened when he lands is a pink blur comes up to him and says "Hi there I'm Pinkie Pie, are you new? Because if you are new we should throw you a party and, we can-"
Before she could continue Soarin stuck his hoof into her mouth and says "Alright miss, but can you tell me where an Octavia is staying at?"
After he removes his hoof she says "Oh you mean the cellist, she is visiting her sister here, wish my sisters were here but they are probably busy with whatever.  Did you know that her sister is The Vinyl Scratch?  When I found that out I was like gasp but then I thought it was so sweet that Octavia is visiting her sister so I threw a big party for them and then,"  she then stops when she realizes that Soarin is not there and says "Huh, must've been needed somewhere else, better go get ready for his party."  she then trotted off towards Suger Cube Corner.
Meanwhile, when Pinkie was talking his head off he slips away and thinks "Is she crazy or something?"
Before he could think of it some more a cyan coated mare he regonizes landed in front of him and says "Soarin!  Is that you?"
Soarin then thinks "How did Rainbow Dash knew I was here?"
"If your wondering how I knew you were here, I saw you fly in when I was clearing some clouds."
"Well that explains it."
"And I heard from Pinkie Pie that you were in town." said Dash
"Well now that also explains it.  But can you tell me where an Octavia lives?" said Soarin
"Yes the cellist that arrived this morning, her sister lives a bit near outside of town."
"Thanks."
After Soarin thanked Dash and gave him directions, he then heads on towards the outside of town and after a about half an hour he finally arrived.  He then takes a deep breath and went up to the house and was about to knock when a white unicorn opens the door and after a minute of an awkward silence Soarin says "Vinyl Scratch?"
"Soarin?" said the white unicorn

Octavia is just leaving the marketplace in Ponyville when a pink pony comes up to her and says "Hey Octavia, how are you?"
"Fine Pinkie, what is going on?" said Octavia
"Well, a new stallion pony is here visisting some mare here and I think he likes this mare."
Octavia then thinks and says "Tell me, is this pony a pegasus that has a light blue coat and navy blue mane and tail?"
"Wow Octavia, you're right are you some sort of mind reader?"
"No, I met this pony at one point."
"Okie dokie lokie.  Party to welcome him at Sugar Cube Corner."
After she left, Octavia thinks "So Soarin, your here to see me maybe?  And if Pinkie is right he may like me.  This should be interesting."
So then she went off home when she realizes "Oh my, if he is here he is going to run into my sister this could end badly."
She now starts to run and it only took her about five minutes to run home when she notices that she hears laughter from the inside Oh no, either he met her or she brought home a random stallion again."
When she opens the door she sees Vinyl and Soarin sitting at the table across from each other and she is glad that it was not some random stallion.  She then says "So sis, I see you met Soarin here?"
"Hey Octy," said Scratch with a smile "yep and he told me how you two met and I say sis you sure know how to pick them.  When was the last time a stallion fell for you and was willing to follow you?"
"That was about a month ago, and you know that I hate it when you call me Octy."
"Come on sis, I can tell part of you actually don't mind it."
Before Octavia could say anything, Soarin says "Excuse me ladies, but I'm just here to visit for a little while."
"Well then we better head on towards your welcome to Ponyville party that Pinkie is throwing for you later today." said Scratch
"Yes, let us go." said Octavia
So then all three of them head on out and Soarin hang on behind them and listen in on to there chattering and at the same time looking at the scenery which he notices that it is getting close to evening and the sun was about to set.
"So Scratch, any new stallions in your life yet?" said Octavia
"Well, I didn't find him yet but I'll let you know." said Scratch
"Well better hurry up, if I remember that one stallion Big Mac is with Rainbow Dash, Thunderlane is with Blossomforth, Caramel is with Applejack, Blue Noteworthy is with Fluttershy and even Pokey is with Pinkie."
"Very funny Octy, that just means they wern't right for me."
Just when Octavia could say anything, they finally arrived at the place and the lights seem to be out.  When Octavia opens the door it was dark when all of a sudden the lights came on and many ponies pooped out and yelled
"SURPRISE!"
Soarin almost fainted and stumbled backwards and says "Whoa!  That was most certainly a surprise." Even though his heart is paciong a bit faster then usual.
Then Pinkie Pie comes up and says "Well that was the point, so now let us PARTY!"
So the party is in full swing, even though something in Soarins and Vinyls past is going to be brought to light.

The party is going nicely.  Soarin just got to know almost everypony like Rarity, Applejack, Caramel, Fluttershy, Blue Noteworthy Pokey Pierce and Big Mac.  Later he finds himself talking to Rainbow Dash
"So Soarin, what brings you here to Ponyville?"
"Well," said Soarin "I'm here to see a friend I met some time ago and she is here visiting her sister."
"So you are here to see Octavia."
"Yeah why?"
"No reason." she then sees Mac waving to her and she says "I better go, Mac wants me for something."
"Ok." said Soarin
So he then went off to find Octavia and when he finds her, he walked up to them and says "Hi there, how are things?"
Octavia turned to him and says "Fine, me and my sister are just talking about something."
"Like what?"
"Well, I just want to know how you two know each other?"
Soarin then gets a surprised look and says with a bit of stuttering "Well, you see.."
Lucky for him Vinyl says "If you must know Octy, we dated some time ago."
All of a sudden, the music stopped and everypony looked towards them and nothing could be heard until Scratch says "What?  We met in Manehatten and we went out for a short time, so what."
"What do you mean so what?" said Octavia with a bit of anger "You went out with a colt and you didn't tell me about it."
"Hey there no need to get angry, besides that was a long time ago."
"I just can't believe that you dated a colt."
"So what, I can go out with anycolt I want to." said Vinyl with a bit of anger
"But you never told me or our parents about him."
"You want to go there now, fine they probably won't accept him anyways."
"How do you know, they might've."
"That is only for you they won't mind anycolt that comes thtough the door but everytime I bring a colt even if he was to there standards they won't accept him, because you were always miss perfect while they did not accept my choices or even respect them."
"But they would've been proud."
"Of what!  You may know them as perfect parents but for me they were control freaks."
There was silence between the two mares and Soarin thought "What happened between theses two?"
Then Octavia leaves the place and there was more silence until Soarin decided to follow her.  Unknown to someponies is that underneath Vinyl's shades is that there are tears coming out of her eyes.

So he went outside and look around until he finds her sitting on a bridge.  He then went up to her and sees that she is crying and he says "Hey Octavia, do you want to talk?"
Octavia then wipes away her tears and says "Sure Soarin, I feel like I need somepony to talk to."
So then he sat down beside her and he then puts a hoof around on her shoulders and she seems to not mind it at all.  They then sat there for about an hour until Soarin says "So what happen between you and Vinyl?"
"Well, me and her were always close until the day she got back from Band Camp during the summer."
"So, what happen a few hours ago you two were good friends but now you were yelling at each other when you started talking about your parents."
Octavia then takes a deep breath and says "Well, you better sit back this is a long one."
Six years ago
Octavia was in her room praticing on her cello when the door opens and then a voice said "Welcome home miss Scratch, how was the trip?"
"Fine Jeeves, where were mom and dad I thought they were picking me up?"
"Sorry miss, but they were at a concert and won't be back until later this evening."
Octavia then hears nothing until Scratch said "Is Octavia still here though?"
"Yes miss, she is in her room."
So then Octavia hears hoofsteps and her door opens and atanding there is her sister and she said "Hi Vinyl."
"Hey Octy, so whats up?"
"Nothing much."
"Hey, do you want to do something?"
"Your not going to tell me what you did there?"
"Other then I got my cutie mark, not much happened."
Octavia gets a surprised look and said "You got your cutie mark, what is it and how did you get it?"
"Hold on," she then turns and Octavia can not believe what she is seeing, there on Vinyls flank is two musical notes.  She then said "That is wonderful."
But then Scratch gets a sad look and said "Yeah, to bad mom and dad weren't here."
Octavia then went up to her and hugs her and said "Hey there, I'm happy for you."
So both of them sat there talking when they hear the door open and hear voices until a female voice cried out "Vinyl Scratch, come down here."
So then Vinyl went down stairs and a few minutes later Octavia hears them talking.
"Vinyl, how was camp?"
"Fine, just why didn't you pick me up?  You promised to pick me up."
Then a males voice is heard "Sweetie, we were busy with some buisness."
"Some buisness, you went to a concert.  As usual you and mom always come up with some type of lie."
Then all of a sudden the voices got louder "Vinyl Harmony Scratch!  You will not say such things to us."
"Why?  All you two care about is Miss perfect Octavia and not about me."
All of a sudden, Octavia heard what sounded like somepony was slapped.  Then some crying and Vinyl said loudly "Some parents you are."  Then hoofsteps were heard and then doors slaming and Octavia went out of her room and sees her butler and said "What happened?"
"Seems as if Vinyl and your parents had another argument, but it was the first time that they hurt her."
"What!  They slapped her, but why?"
The butler just shrug and Octavia went to her sisters room and when she opens it, what she sees surpised her.  The bed was emptied and the window was opened and bedsheets were used to make a rope ladder and Octavia knew that her sister ran away.
Present
After Soarin heard this, he says "Wow, and how did you and Scratch see each other again?"
"Well, you remember the wedding of the captain of the guard?"
"Yeah I remember, and she did the music there if I remember."
"Well, when I heard she was there I decided to go see her and when she saw me we were both happy to see each other again.  And both of us rekindled our sisterhood then and there."
"That sounds great."
Octavia then takes a deep breath and says "But when I try to bring up our parents she gets angry about it so I try and not to talk about them."
Soarin then pulls her in closer and rubs his hoof through her mane and says "What happened to them anyways?"
"After Vinyl ran away, father was sad about the whole thing and tried to find her but mom," she then leans her head onto his shoulder and said "Seems like she didn't care at all and dad died some time after that from what I could describe as a broken heart."
Soarin could not believe what he heard.  There parents were not good examples from the way she describe it and it seems like there father tried his best to find Vinyl and make them a family again.  But her mother is a different story, she did nothing about it at all.  He then says "Well the best thing to do now is to go apologize to her and I'm sure she would forgive you."
Octavia then gets up onto her hoof and says "Yes Soarin, I will go apologize to her, thank you."
She then leans in and kisses Soarin on the lips and walked away.  While Soarins wings pooped out and his face turns a bright red and he thinks "I think she likes me."

It took Octavia about an hour to reach her home and when she went inside she hears crying upstairs.  When she goes upstairs she hears it louder from Vinyl's room.  She then knocks and says "Hey sis, are you alright?"
She then heard a sniff and a voice with a bit of sadness says "A little bit."
"Can I come in?" said Octavia
There was silence for a while when she hears "Sure thing sis."
Octavia then opens the door and is surprised by what she sees, she sees Vinyl on her bed and her shades are on her nightstand.  She even sees some tear stains on the sheets.  After a while Octavia says "Look Vinyl, I'm sorry that I got mad at you and I was hoping that you could-"
Before she could finish, Vinyl ran up to her and hugged her.  Octavia was surprised at first then she says "Does this mean that you forgive me?"
Vinly then let go and says "Sure sis, and most of it was my fault also."
"No, it was my fault."
"No no no, it's my fault." said Vinyl
Then both of them stared at each other and both of them laugh and Octavia says "I guess it's both of our fault."
Then Vinyl went and sat on one side of her bed and Octavia sat on the other end and says "So Vinyl, how did you and Soarin broke up if you two were together?"
Vinyl then took a deep breath and says "Well, if you must know me and Soarin met when I was taking a swim in the lake and Soarin was flying around and he saw me and from his perspective he crashed into the lake." she then giggled and says "To me though, I think he did that just to get a good look at me when I'm wet."
Both Octavia and Vinyl then giggled and Octavia says "Well that was an interesting way to meet each other.  But what broke you two apart?"
Vinyl then gets a sad look on her face and says "Well, it seems like there was arumor that a band camp member was seeing a pegasus from the nearby camp that is for young fliers that seem to be late bloomers that can barely fly and well, it seems like both heads of both camps are always at each other throats and when they heard about it, they put on a curfew but that didn't stop both me and Soarin from seeing each other."
Octavia gets a surprised look and then says "But what happened after that?"
"Well, seems like a pony one night followed us and saw us together and well from what I heard we have both been given a choice; either we both don't see each other anymore or one of us has to leave camp." Vinyl then puts her head into her hooves and says "And he decided to leave."
Octavia can't believe her ears, but then says "Wait, if he left that could mean that he still cared for you."
"But he didn't, I begged him that he didn't have to leave so we broke it off and became friends." she then takes her head out of her hooves and says "So sis, that is how we met each other and well if you want him you can have him."
Before Octavia could say anything, a knock came to the door and Vinyl went out of her room and Octavia followed her and when she came downstairs, she sees a grey pegasus which seems to have eyes that seem to be looking every direction and whom she regonizes as Derpy and she says "Excuse me, is this the home of a Miss Scratch?"
Vinyl then says "That would be me."
Derpy then takes out a letter and gives it to Vinyl and says "Here is a letter to you."
"Thank you, and how is the family Derpy?" said Vinyl
"Fine, amd thanks for that DJ table, little Dinky seems to enjoy it alot."
"Your welcome and say hi to Dinky for me."
"Will do."
After she left Vinyl turns around and sees Octavia on the stairs and says "What?  I'm good friends to her and her family."
Octavia then rolls her eyes and says "Ok, what does that letter say?"
Vinyl then opens the letter and starts to read it but then her face then goes from a smile to shock.  Octavia notices this and says "What is it sis?"
Vinyl didn't say anything only handed the letter to Octavia and when she sees it she then gets a worried look.
Dear Vinyl,
I was hoping to hear from you and sorry for usin an alias, this is the only way to tell you something.  I want you to persuade your sister to marry somepony that I chose.  And yes I know Octavia will be there when this letter arrives.  So don't do anything.  And if you must know, me and this stallion will be there in Ponyville the next day when you recieve this letter.
Hope to see you soon.

Octavia can't belive what she read, her and her sister's mother is coming to Ponyville and Octavia thinks "How could she, she finds a stallion for me and how did she find me and know when I was viviting my sister?  And why can't she let me choose my own stallion."
Octavia then sits on the floor with a look of shock on her face.

                   Chapter 4: The Visit

The next day is not a good day for Octavia.  The night before her sister recieved a letter from her mother telling them about her finding a stallion for her.  Even though she thinks that she is falling for Soarin.  "Oh Celestia," she thought "What would I tell him?"
She then gets out of bed and heads on out towards where she know Soarin lives.  It took her about half an hour to find the motel and when she went inside she sees an elderly mare at the front deask and says "Excuse me, is a Soarin here?"
The mare looks up and says "Yes he is here but he went out a few minutes ago."
"Ok, thank you."
So Octavia leaves the place and thinks where Soarin could be when she sees Vinyl running towards her yelling "Octavia!"
"What Vinyl?" said Octavia
After Vinyl stopped she says "Our mother is here and you won't believe the stallion that she brought."
"She is here already!  I thought she would've arrived later today, and who is this stallion that she brought with her that she thinks is perfect for me?"
"Are you sure?  Both of us heard of him."
"Vinyl! Just tell me who."
Vinyl then takes a deep breath and says "You are going to be in shock when I tell you."
Octavia then gets an angry look and says "I'm going to be in a bad mood if you don't tell me."
Vinyl then takes another deep breath and says "He is, Prince Blueblood."
All of a sudden, Octavia froze on the spot with her mouth opened.  Vinyl then says "I knew it, she went into shock again and leaves me to carry her home." she then puts Octavia onto her back and says "Why does it seem like you are getting heavier each time."  she then thought "Wonder what Soarin is doing?"

Soarin is busy walking through the marketplace thinking about the kiss that Octavia gave him.  While he is walking through, a mare says "Hey mister, do you want some roses for your marefreind?"
He then turns and sees a cream colored pony with a red mane and tail.  He then goes up to her and says "Yes, I would like some roses."
The mare then turns around and grabs some roses and hands them to Soarin and says "That would be four bits."
"Thank you, and how did you know that I was thinking of a mare?"
"You had this some spark in your eyes that anypony that is paying attention can see."
Soarin then hands her the bits and sasy "Well thanks anyway."
"Your welcome, and tell your friends about Roseluck's Flower Shop."
After Soarin said goodbye to her, he went off towards Vinyl's home when he sees a carrage.  "Now who could that be?" Soarin thought
When he goes up to the door, he hears voices so he decides to head to a window and listen in on whoever is talking.

Inside House
Octavia is sitting next to Vinyl with her head down.  And sitting across from them is Prince Blueblood and a white unicorn with a blue mane and tail who is there mother.  She then says "So then you two, how has things been?"
Vinyl stays silent while Octavia says "We are doing fine mom, and what are you doing here?"
"Why Octavia, I thought you recieved my letter I want you to marry Blueblood here."
Octavia again gets a surprised look and says "Why, do you even know what he like!  I heard things among the upper class and lower class.  He is a snob, and to high maintainance an-"
"Octavia!  That is no way to speak about your fiance."
"Fiance!" said Octavia "Me and him never met, well we may have seen each other but never talked to one another."
"Come on Octavia, he was there because he was seeing you,"
"Mom!  We never talked to each other once, he never came up to me and never asked me out."
There was silence for a few minutes when Vinyl says "Look Melody, both me and Octavia are doing fine and niether one of us wants to marry Blueblood."
Melody then gives Vinyl an angry look and says "Well its a good thing that you are not marrying him, your sister is."
Before anypony could do anything Octavia then says "Look mother, what would you say if I told you I already have a coltfriend?"
Melody then gets a surprised look and says "You already have a coltfriend!  When did this happen?"
"About a couple days ago."
"Why, what does he have to offer?  I paid good money just by getting you a dress and everything."
"Mom!" shouts Vinyl "This is not ancient Equestria where ponies arrange marriages, this is the modern days."
Before Melody could say anything, Octavia says "Look mom, he is a good stallion and a fine one and handsome to.  And another thing, the one thing he has to offer me is his love and affection so sorry mom the answer is no, I'm not marrying Blueblood."
She then ran out the front door and before Soarin could follow her, Blueblood came out and started to follow her.  So Soarin decided to follow them and get to Octavia first.

After some time of ruuning, Octavia has finally decided to rest by sitting on the same bridge that her and Soarin sat at that one night.  She then sat there forabout ten minutes when she hears hooves coming towards her.  When she looked up, she sees Blueblood coming towards her saying "You are one hard mare to follow."
"What do you want Blueblood?" said Octavia with a bit of scorn in her voice
"Why I just want to talk to you."
"About what?  How you and my mother were planning this for who knows how long."
Before Blueblood could say anything, a pegasus whom Octavia regonizes landed on the other side of the bridge and said "Hey there mister, why don't you leave her alone.  If she dosen't want to marry you she doesn't have to."
Blueblood then raises an eybrow and says "And you are?"
"I'm Soarin, Octavia's coltfriend."
Octavia smiles at what she heard Soarin said.  But then she hears Blueblood laugh and say "You!  You must be joking, your just a wonderbolt what could you possibly give to her that could beat my offer?"
"I could give her my love, my life and my loyalty." said Soarin
"Those are only sentimental things, I mean something like money." said Blueblood
"What do you think this is?  The Olden Age, that kind of thing doesn't happen at all."
"Come on now, it still happens just among the elite of the Canterlot ponies.  Don't you remember the Sparkle family?"
"Yes, but they knew each other since they were young so that was an acception."
Then Blueblood laugh in which Soarin thinks sounds evil and says "Whats so funny?"
"Well," said Blueblood "If you must know everything is already set for me and Octavia to be married so there is nothing you could do about it."
"Since it seems you and her mother seem to be living in the Olden days, I guess I could bring up something that existed around that time."
Now Blueblood gets a confused look and says "What do you mean?"
Now it is Soarin's turn to smile and say "It's something that happens if two stallions are in love with the same mare.  At first it was to the death but now it is to whoever gives up first."
"You mean?" said Blueblood with a worry look
"Yes, something called: A Duel."
Blueblood then gets a look of shock but then says "Fine, I agree to this form of fighting.  And pray tell what are the rules?"
"Rule One: No magic, Rule Two: Now Wings, Rule Three: No Dirty Fighting it is just like boxing."
"Alright, I say we hold this here in Ponyville say in two weeks time."
"Fine, but we have one of the princesses as judge."
"Fine by me."
Soarin then looks towards Octavia and says "You won't mind if we do this?"
She then looks to both of them and says "I guess I have no choice."
She then walks away towards home and Soarin thinks "Am I doing the right thing?"

It has been a couple days and news about the duel spread all over Equestria.  At first ponies thought it was between two random ponies until they heard it's going to be Prince Blueblood vs. Soarin the Wonderbolt.  Even the princesses are surprised by this, the last time they saw something like this happened was over a thousand years ago.  So Luna volunteered to judge since Blueblood is Celestias nephew.
As for Soarin, his teamates are a bit shocked and surprised at this.  When he tried to find Octavia he can't find her, even Vinyl can't find her.  When he lands on a cloud, he is still thinking about the look Octavia had that night.  "She didn't look pleased about it, hope she understands that this is the only way to win her hoof."
While he was thinking, Spitfire lands next to him and says "Hey Soarin, whats eating you?"
"Hey Spits, I don't know if I'm doing the right thing."
"What is this I'm hearing?  Soarin to me you made the right decision and I'm sure this Octavia will thank you for it if you win."
Soarin then looks at Spitfire and says "How did you know the mare we are fighting for?"
"Well, Blueblood let it out whom he is going to win and well it spread from then on."
Soarin then puts his head into his hooves and says "What am I going to do?  He is probably bigger and better at fighting then me."
"Soarin!" yelled Spaitfire "Have you forgotten your training?  Every Wonderbolt went through training even those seesions with no wings.  And if you need a refreasher course, I'll gladly teach you all of it."
She then grabs Soarin and both of them flew towards Sweet Apple Acres.
"Spitfire, this is a farm.  Shouldn't we find a gym or something."
"What, Afraid to get dirty?  And another thing, we have soem friends here that would gladly help us."
Both of them then landed at the front door and Spitfire knocks on the door and a orange mare answer and says "Hello Spitfire, how may I help you?"
"We were wondering if we could borrow your brother's plow for some time?" said Spitfire
"Sure go ahead, he is done with it for now and him and Dash went out to Appleloosa and won't be back for some time."
"Thank you." she then turned to Soarin and says "Well now Soarin, your training begins, NOW!"

Midday
Soarin is getting sweat on his forhead while pulling the plow for hours and says "Sptitfire, how much longer?"
"An hour more." she said while laying on a cloud that is low to the ground
Soarin then sighs and keeps on moving.  His wings are even tied down so that he won't fly.
An hour later he then gets only a ten minute break to rest up and is then taking into the barn and sees what appears to be a punching bag and Spitfire says "Now this part you have to be on your hind legs and punch this bag as hard as you can."
So Soarin then gets onto his hind legs and tries to balance himself and puts his hooves up and starts to swing his hooves with Spitfire yelling him orders like "Come on Saorin!  My grandmother can punch harder then that!  Pretend that is that jerk Blueblood's face!"

It has been many hours of training and Soarin went onto the house whom Apllejack gladly let them sleep there.  As Soarin layed in the bed he realizes his whole body is sore form the pulling, pushing and running that they did all day. he then thinks "And we are going to do this every day!  I'm so not going to live through this."

Two days later
Soarin is doing push ups with only his hooves and is up onto his fifties when a pony comes up to him and says "Hey Soarin, how is the training?"
He then says "Fine Vinyl, Spitfire is working me like an earth pony."
Vinyl then laughs and says "Well glad you're doing fine."
There was silence except for Soarins grunts at doing the push ups unti lhe says "So, do you know where Octavia is?"
"Nope, still can't find her." she then looks at Soarin and says "I hope you win, she deserves a pony like you Soarin."
"What about you?"
"Well, I was hoping you forgave me about that one time at camp."
"Vinyl, I already forgave you even if I didn't say it to you."
"Really?" said Vinyl with a look of confusion
"Yes Vinyl, really."
There was some more silence and Vinyl has a smile on her face and Soarin says "So just out of curiosity, do you have a colt?"
"Actually, I do his name is Blue Noteworthy.  He is a cool stallion, met him a few days ago and he is into music also."
"Isn't he that blue earth pony with a cutie mark that looks like yours?"
"Yep, he is a sweet thing and speaking of which, I better go now keep up the good work Soarin."
After she left Soarin then continues to work out by doing pull ups, curl ups, lifting wieghts, pulling the plow and punching the bag.  Afterwards, he decided to go for a jog around Ponyville.  So he puts on some wonderbolt sweatbands on his hooves and a headband on his forhead and ties up his wings.  He does some warm ups and starts to run into Ponyville and he waves to any ponies he comes across and they wave back.  Even some of the young colts and fillies start running along side him.  He even notices that many of the Ponies that he runs by are stomping there hooves into the ground and cheering him on.  He even thinks "This feels like that one movie about that one earth pony boxer that is called *Roxer*."

And thanks to there cheering, he runs even faster then ever before he even starts to run on his hind legs and does some mid air punches while he is running.
After about two hours of running, he arrived back at the apple orchard and whom at the front gate surprises him: Octavia is standing there with a sad look on her face.  As soon as he gets close to her she says "I'm sorry Soarin when I left you on that bridge with you thinking that I don't want to see you again but I can't stop thinking about you so, will you forgive me and let me back into your life?"
Soarin did not need to say anything, instead he ran up to her and sraped his hooves around her neck and Octavia does the same thing.  And both of them then looks onto each other eyes and leaned in and kissed each other on the lips but with more passion then the last time.
As soon as they stopped kissing, Soarin says "Are you good with sores?  I'm seem to have sores all over the place."
Octavia blushes for a bit and says "I think I can handle it."
So both of them went onto the barn and Octavia and Soarin did more then talked and gave each other messages.

Soarin then wakes up after a good rest and the first thing he sees is Octavia's face with her eyes closed and he smiled and kissed her on the forhead and she then stirs in her sleep and opnes her eyes with a smile and says "Good morning sunshine."
"Good morning Octy, how was your rest?"
"Fine and speaking of which you should get to training."
"Now!" said Soarin with a depressed look "But can't we lay here for a few minutes?"
"Sorry Soar, as much as I want to you have a match later this month."
Soarin then sighs and gets up and gives Octavia a kiss on the lips and went outside to continue his training.

About two weeks later, Soarin woke up in a bed with the sun in his eyes.  He then quickly closes his eyes and rolls to one side and sees Octaiva sleeping next to him.  He smiles and pushes some of her mane out of her face gently and he can see her eyes clearly and says "How was your sleep beutiful?"
Octavia then puts one of hooves to Soarin's cheeck and says "I slept fine handsome."
Both of them then lean in close and kissed each other on the lips.  Octavia then says "Tomorrow is the big day."
Soarin then sighs and says "Yeah, and I have an entire day of trainning today."
Octavia giggles and Soarin says "Whats so funny?"
"I just realized, we been sleeping together and no other pony knows about it."
"I think we should keep it that way."
They then kiss again and Octavia then gets out of bed and says "I agree, and it will all be worth it when you win."
So then after Octavia left, Soarin went outside and continue on with his training.
After a few hours, Spitfire flew up to Soarin and says "Hey there Soarin, how is training coming along?"
"Fine Spitfire, just fine."
"Well if you must know, this match is in the Ponyville park and it is already ready."
Another grunt is heard from Soarin when he said "That sounds fine."
"And if you must know, seems like Blueblood has all of Canterlot supporting him."
"What!  How is that possible?"
"Don't know.  But don't worry about it, you have Ponyville AND Cloudsdale on your side."
Soarin can't believe what he is hearing, all the match is going to be a small one but seems like Blueblood turned it into something bigger.  He then all of a suddenly went a bit more faster on the plow and continue on with his training.

It is now near evening and Soarin can't believe that today was the last day of training.  So he laid down into bed but before he could go to sleep, the door opens and walked in Vinyl and she says "Hey Soarin, glad I caught you before you hit the hay."
"Do you need something Vinyl?"
"Well yes, you see I know you are sleeping with my sister."
Soarin then shoots up in bed and says "How do you know?"
"Soarin, she is pregnant."
Soarin couldn't believe his ears.  Octavia, the love of his life pregnant.  He sat there in shock until Vinyl says "Hey Soarin, I have nothing against you about it, unless you lose then there might be a problem."
Soarin got out of his shock and says "How did you find out?"
"Hey if you must know, me and Blue had a romantic night one day and well, we made out at the end and, I'm pregnant also."
"For how long?" said Soarin
"About a week and well I also saw Octavia come into the hospital when I was in there for a checkup, in some shades and a hat and a gown of some kind.  Even I can tell she is in disguise so I put two and two together."
"Please Vinyl, don't tell any other pony please."
"Cross my heart hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye." she said while doing some motions
Soarin was confused when Vinyl says "That is a Pinkie Promise.  Whenever a pony makes a promise like that, they are expected to keep it or something bed would happen like losing a friend."
"FOREVER!" yelled Pinkie Pie right outside the door but then vanishes without a trace.
Soarin was surprised by it and says "Well, I guess that settles that."
"I guess it does so goodnight Soarin."
"Goodnight Vinyl."
So after Vinyl left, Soarin then layed back down in bed and fell asleep on the spot.

The next day, Soarin woke up and the sun was just over the horizon.  He then gets up and head on downstairs when he sees the Apple family at the tale.  "Good morning everypony."
Caramel looks up and says "Hey there Soarin, slept well?"
"Yeah."
He then sat down at the table and Applejack hoofs him a plate full of pancakes.  He then eats them and after he was done Applebloom comes in and says "Granny, there seems to be a crowd of ponies outside."
Everypony that is there then went to the window and true to her word there is a crowd of ponies outside.  Even Rainbow Dash and Big Mac is out there with some bags and look like they just got back.  When Soarin went outside one of the ponies cried out "Look! There he is!"
All of a sudden cheers could be heard like "Go Soarin, show that prince whose boss!"
"Go Soarin go!"
"Soarin, you can beat him!"
There is even a banner that Soarin notices that has his name on it being held by two pegasi one on each end.  He then smiles and waves and when he did that, all the ponies then cheered louder then before.  He then went towards the gate and the ponies made a pathway towards Ponyville.
After some time, and many ponies followed him he finally arrived at the park and what he sees surprised him.  There seem to be a stadium just appeared out of nowhere and ponies from all over are entering.  When he is walking towards an enterence, somepony shouted "Hey Soarin."
He then turns towards the voice and sees that it is Caramel and with him is Thunderlane, Blue Noteworthy and Big Mac.  He goes up to them and says "Hi there, what are you four doing here?"
"Follow us, we are to go prep you up for the fight." said Blue
"Eeyup." said Mac
So he then followed all of them and they lead him to a locker room.  He tehn sat on a table and Thunderlane pulled up a chair and sat down in it and said "So then Soarin, here are some pointers that may be helpful: First Blueblood may be bigger and stronger but you need to use your speed and brains to take him down, secondly he may have a longer reach then you so you need to get in close and pull off some counters and combos to take him down, and thirdly seems like his chest area is like steel so aim for the head that is your best bet."
Soarin is taking all of this in while Big Mac is rubbing his shoulders to get him to be less tense.  Caramel then comes in and says "And another thing, watch out for his straight on punches from what I heard those are his strongest."
Before he could say anything else, Soarin felt this tug and when he looked down he sees a belt tying down his wings and he sees Blue putting it on.  He the said "There we go, you're ready as you can be."
Soarin then says "How many rounds are we going?"
"Well," said Thunderlane "we will be going ten five minute rounds."
After he is all ready, they then went out into the ring and a pony whom Soarin regonizes as that one pegasus announcer pony whom he remembers as Madden.
The pegasus the brout a microphone near him and he says "Welcome everypony of all types!  We bring you here for the first ever duel that had not happened for over a thousand years."
There was more cheering and the pony continued saying "Now, at the red corner, he is the niece of both pricess Celestia and Luna, he traveled many miles to be here to fight for the mare he loves.  Give a hoof for, Prince Blueblood."
Blueblood then stepped into the ring even though there are many booings and very few cheers.
Then the pony said "Now at the blue corner, He is fast as lighting, as graceful as a cloud.  You know him and love him and he is here fighting for the same mare.  Give it up for Soarin the Wonderbolt!"
Soarin then steps onto the ring amonst many cheering and clopping of hooves and many ponies shouting his name.  Soarin could only smile and wave to many of his fans.
Both Blueblood and Soarin then comes into the ring and the ref there says "Alright ponies, you know the rules no magic, no wings and no low blows.  Let's have a clean fight."
Soarin and Blueblood then looks into each other eyes with hatred and Soarin hears Blueblood say "I will break you."
Soarin then says "You can try."
Both of them then went to there corners and are waiting for the bell to ring.  There was silence for a minute until the sound that everypony is waiting for is heard
"BING!"

As soon as they heard the bell, Soarin and Blueblood at first circle each other aroung the end of the ring.  At first Soarin does nothing until Blueblood gets in close and swings.  Soarin dodges but then gets hit in the gut.  Soarin staggers backwards and tries to get his balance back but gets hit in the jaw and he then tries to block but then gets hit in the gut, then the face over and over again.
Then out of no where, Soarin got hit hard and he fell down to the bottom of the ring.  Soarin tries to get up while hearing the ref say
"1..."
"2..."
"3..."
Soarin got up finally and was about to go at Blueblood when he got hit again to the face and this time blood was drawn.
Soarin then backs off and wipes the blood from his jaw with his hoof.  Befor anyone of them get to do anything, the bell was sounded.
"BING!"
Soarin then goes back to his corner and when he sat down, Thunderlane says "Come on Soarin!  You need to focus and if you need to try to get in close and take him out."
"Ok coach."
"BING!"
As soon as the bell rang, Soarin then went in.  But this time, when Blueblood swang Soarin ducks and pulls an uppercut right into his jaw.  The punch staggered him backwards and many cheering can be heard from that hit.  But Soarin did not stop there, he then went in and delivered his own fury of punches to Blueblood's face and he pushed him to teh edge of the ring.  But when he punched him, Blueblood then did a hook to the side of his face and pushed him back.
Soarin then ducks again and at first Blueblood was prepared for another uppercut, Soarin instead punched him in the side and made him flinch and that made an opening at one side of Blubloods face and Soarin took teh chance and did an left hook and this time, Soarin drew blood.  But the move left an opening and Blueblood hooked him in the eye and Soarin staggered backwards and realized that his eye is shut tight and before Blueblood could do anymore damage, the bell was sounded.
"BING!"
Then the announcer said "Well now ponies, this is an interesting match, it seems to go back and forth and who knows who will win."
Caramel then said "Ok, you are doing alright but you need to block those punches of his."
"Yep, now go kick his FLANK!" said Big Mac
"BING!"
Soarin then this time charges in and deals Blueblood an amazing punch into the head and now Soarin does his hooves of fury one after another.  When Blueblood does a hook, Soarin ducks and deals another uppercut which sent Blueblood to the ground.
"1..."
"2..."
"3..."
"4..."
But Blueblood got up and then Blublood deals some of his own punches but Soarin was prepared and blocks one after another and when Blueblood slowed down, Soarin then hooks him in the head and deals punch after punch.  But seems like Blueblood was prepared for the punches so Soarin changes targets and goes for the chest area.
The fight contined on like this and when it arrived at teh final round, Soarin sat at his corner and Thunderlane says "Alright Soar, you got this."
But Soarin says with a bit of heavy breathing "I don't know how much longer I can take this.  There seems to be three of them at some points."
"Hit the one in the middle." said Notworthy
"Right, hit the middle one!" said Big Mac
"And remember one thing, you are fighting for Octavia here." said Caramel
"Now GO!" said all four of them
"BING!"
Now Soarin decides to be careful.  And it seems Blueblood had the same idea.  Blueblood then made the first move by getting in close and hooks Saorins head but Soarin blocked then hooked Blueblood in the head.  Then Blueblood jabbed Soarin in the face but Soarin only flinched and says "Is that all you got?"
Blueblood hits him again but Soarin again says "Come on!  Hit me!"
Blueblood does the same thing and Soarin Again says "Hit me!"
Soarin then notices that Blueblood is getting angry and he swings but Soarin ducks and says "Come on!"
Before Blueblood could swing again, Soarin then hooks him in the head which made him staggered and Saorin hooks him again then starts to jab him again and again.
Then all of a sudden, both ponies hooked each other at the same time and it made them both lose there balance and fall to teh ground.
Both of them are now trying to get up but it seems like Blueblood is near the edge and Soarin has to crawl to the edge.
"1..."
"2..."
Blueblood is halfway up and Soarin just made it to the edge.
"3..."
"4..."
Blueblood is on one hoof and Soarin is just started to climb.
"5..."
"6..."
"7..."
All of a sudden, Blueblood slips and is on his knees and Soarin is on one hoof.
"8..."
"9..."
Blueblood then falls to the ground on his belly and Soarin is just barely on both hooves.
"10!  Soarin is the winner!"
If there was anypony outside, they could have sworn they heard an explosion from the inside the stadium.  Everypony is cheering Soarins name and all four ponies that helped him came into the ring and grouped hugged Soarin whom has his eyes closed because some blood from his forehead got into them.  Many more ponies also came into the ring and Blueblood had to hide his shame with a robe when he finally got up and left.
Soarin though, all he wanted was to feel his marefriend so he shouted "Octavia!"
"Hey Soarin, she is here, just that there are so many ponies here." said Thunderlane
Soarin wasn't sure until he passes out and was put onto Big Mac to be taken to the hospital.  And following him are some fans, his friends and Octavia whom has a worried look on her face.

Soarin wakes up to nothing but blacknees in one eye and from what he could see out of the other, he sees an white cieling.  He then tries to get up but as he was trying, a nurse came in and says "Careful sir, even somepony that won a match like that needs some rest."
"What happened?  How long was I out?" said Soarin with a bit of tiredness in his voice
"Only for a day."
Soarin then gets a surprised look and says "Did anypony come visit me?"
"Yes, in fact a grey mare was with you all this time and she should be here in about..."
Right then and there, Octavia came in and says "Soarin!"
She then ran up to her and hugged him and says to the nurse "Is he going blind in one eye?"
"Nope, it should be alright to remove it soon."
She was about to leave until she says "And no funny buisness, we had to make new bed sheets from the last couple that was here."
After she left, both Octavia and Soarin looked at each other and laughed at that statement.
Before they could do anything, the door opened and in came Vinyl and she was smiling a big smile and says "Hey there champ, how are you?"
"Fine Vinyl, what's new?"
"Well, the news came in some time ago and well lets just say Blueblood won't be coming out of the castle in a long time.  And in fact, Celestia thinks that is the perfect punishment for his behavior."
All three of them laugh and Octavia says "Well now, what is new with you?"
"Well, we have something for Soarin but its a secret."
"What do you mean?"
As soon as he said that, Vinyl then dissapeared out the door and he then looked at Octavia and she just shrugs her shuolders.  But before he could say anything, Octavia says "Don't worry about it, they are doing something that may happen when you get better."
Before he could say anything, Octavia takes his head into her hooves and kisses him passiontly on the lips.  Soarin then wraps one of his hooves around her back and pulls her in close.  All of a sudden, they heard a gasp and both of them turn around and sees the same nurse there pushing a cart of food into the room.  There was silence until both Octavia and Soari nstarted to laugh when she steps out of the room.

After about a couple of weeks, Soari nwas let out of the hospital and as soon as he stepped out he finds Derpy standing there with a letter and says "Hi there Soarin, here is an invitation for you."
"What do you mean?" said Soarin
Before he could get an answer, Derpy left him standing there with the letter.
When he opened it, it says
Soarin,
Come to my workplace.
Vinyl Scratch
After he read it, he then heads on out towards the place that Vinyl works at.  It took him about an hour to find the place and the odd thing is that it looks like nothing is happening there.  When he went inside, the place is dark until he hears
"NOW!"
The lights then came on and everypont that is there shouted
"SURPRISE!"
When he finally recovered, he could see almost everypony is there like Twilight, Appljack, Rainbow, Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie, Blue Noteworthy, Caramel, Lucky Clover, Big Mac, Thunderlane, Vinyl and Octavia and many other ponies.
Afterwards, he says "Wow, thanks everypony."
"Now that the champ is here, let's PARTY!" shouted Pinkie
So the party went onto full swing and Soarin finds himself being swarmed by many fans who want to congragulate him.  After he went through everypony, some he thanked twice, he finally finds Octavia and says to her "So this is what Vinyl was talking about."
"Yep, it is."
Before he could say anything, Vinyl said over the mic "ALL RIGHT EVERYPONY!  TIME TO ROCK THIS HOUSE!"
She then puts on some music that sounds like the song Eye of the Tiger".  He then looks to Octavia and says "Want to dance?"
Octavia then smiles and says "Alright."
So then they danced through the party, even Vinyl did soem slow songs.  After a while, soarin says "Octavia, can we rest for a bit?"
"Sure Soarin."
So both of them then went off to the side and sat down in a couple of shairs.  At first there was nothing said between them.  Until Octavia puts one of hooves against his and says "Hey Soarin, are you alright?"
"Yeah," said Soarin with a bit of nervousness in his voice "well I want to ask you something."
"What is it?" said Octavia
Soarin then takes a deep breath and says "Well, we known each other for soem time now and well, I was wondering if we could take it up the next level."
"Soarin, are you asking me what I think your asking me?"
"Yes Octavia, the thing I'm asking you is," Soarin then stands up and kneels in front of her and says "Will you marry me Octavia?"
All of a sudden, a scream of joy was heard and everypony looked towards the noise and sees that Octavia is hugging Soarin and Vinyl thinks "Good job Soarin.  Good job."

It has been about ten years since that day.  And Octavia, now much older, is coming outside with a small budle on her back.  She looks up and can see two pegasi whom she regonizes as one of her sons and her husband Soarin.  She then yells up to them "Lunch time!"
Both of them then flew down and the young pegasi is like his father except his coat is grey and his mane and tail is blue.  She then says "So, how was your flight lesson High Note?"
High Note then says "It was fun mom."
She then laughs and says "Hey Soarin, could you take Symphony I need to set up the table."
"Sure thing." said Soarin taking the small earth pony bundle off her back
As soon as they went inside, they hear a knock and High Note went to the door and as soon as he opens it, he says "Aunty Scratch!  Uncle Blue!"
"Hey there high Note, how is it hanging?"
"Great."
As soon as they came back inside, Vinyl and Notworthy came inside with a young unicorn mare whom is around High Notes age.  High Note then says to him "So Bass, how is that new coltfreind of yours?"
"Hey!" said Saphire Bass "He is alright."
"Yeah, who knew you would've fall for the son of Rainbow Dash and Big Mac.  What was his name?"
"Rainbow Zap Apple."
"Oh yeah, Razz." said High Note
"Hey!  You know he can still outrun you."
"That was an accident, the sun was in my eye."
And the two of them just laugh and Octavia knows her life couldn't get any better then this.
