You wake up and sit upright on your old, chestnut-colored couch. It squeaks in an annoying harmony with each painful move you make. You are in a rather empty mobile home on the outskirts of Ponyville, awaiting the return of your one and only companion, as she calls herself, "The Great And Powerful Trixie". She had left hours prior for a show, one that had seemed rather important to her. Earlier in the day, you had eagerly awaited for Trixie to tell you that you would be attending the show with her, but as always, she just took her large blue hat off of the stand beside the door, batted her eyes gracefully, nodded, and finally slammed the door behind her and trotted off alone.
You sit and continue to wait. You look at the clock on the wall behind you. It is stuck at 13:48, the same time it read as you looked at it before Trixie left. Fuck. You look out the window. The bright, azure moon is emitting a beautiful glow as it floats almost directly above the box that you and Trixie call home. You stand up and walk to the door. You put on your only sweater and step out the door, into the crisp night air as a chilling mist nips at your face. You shiver, but sit down on the steps. You wonder why you ever decided to stay here, with Trixie, rather than leaving and finding a better life, perhaps even finding where you belong. You look at the patch of trees that lies just left of your home. You can think of only one thing. Home. I want to go home. You are lost in empty thought.
You heard something in the midst of slumber. A voice. A female voice. One that you have never heard. A female voice that you have never heard, one that is very demanding.
"Wake up."
You rise and slowly opened your eyes. Before looking around at your surroundings, you looked down at yourself. Jeans. Sweater. Muddy Hiking boots. Gloves. Beer gut. You checked yourself for injuries. It was not a common thing for you to wake up outside in the cold, but when it did happen, it was always pretty logical to check for injuries before moving, something you had to learn over time in the past. Your neck was stiff and your ankle seemed to be sprained. You used a large, sturdy tree nearby to stand yourself up. You gasped in pain as the weight of your body falls onto your hurt ankle.
"You're fine. Come with me."
You turned around. All pain subsided almost instantly. Your mind was taken from everything and turned almost completely blank. The world around you was much more colorful than you remembered, and horses seemed to be talking much more than you recalled. Wait a second.
You looked forth and looked twice at the creature in front of you. She looked like a small equine, however her coat was like nothing you had ever seen before.
"Y-You're a h-horse.", you tried to say. Your throat was dry, your voice sounded rather muffled.
"No, I am a pony. Horses are a filthy and stupid race. I, however, am neither. If anything, I am the complete opposite.". She looked down at her hoof for a moment, and then looked back up to you. "Continue."
"You just… talked. Twice.", You thought for a second. "N-No, wait. Three times."
"Good job, you can count! I hope you realize that we're wasting a lot of my precious time. Now, come with me. You can ask questions later.".
"But, wait, where a—". You tried to say, as the mare cut you off.
"Did you not hear me? You will ask questions at a later time. For now, silence. I must concentrate."
You followed the pony through the woods until you reached a small, white mobile home. You entered behind the mare. She looked at you and took her hat off with her front hoof. Under the hat, a luscious white and blue mane were revealed, along with a horn that matched the color of the mare's coat. A spark emitted from her horn as an opaque aura glowed and sparkled around her horn. You heard the door behind you click. The aura disappeared.
"Sit. Sleep. Do what you must. My house is yours for the time being. Just do not enter my private quarters, they are private for a reason." She pointed a hoof to a doorway, the only door in the entire home, excluding the front door in which you entered.
You took a seat on the old couch nearby. The mare begins to trot off into the only other enclosed room in the small mobile home.
You attempted to speak up again. "W-Wait, I still have questions."
She turned and stared in your direction, and she did not exactly look happy. She waited for you to continue.
"Uhm, I… uh… at least t-tell me your name first, and it would be nice if you would tell my why I am talking to a unicorn. "
"You will refer to me as The Great And Powerful Trixie. I do not know why you are here or how you got here. All I know is that you were asleep on the ground. I found you talking to yourself amongst your slumber."
"…oh."
Trixie slowly trotted off again, through a small doorway. The door shut itself, but it also seemed to have an opaque, azure aura glowing around it. The glow faded, and you attempted to lay yourself out on the couch, which was almost a meter too short for you. You closed your eyes, and drifted off into your own thoughts, hoping that you would wake the next morning back in a more logical reality - or at least, one that was more logical to you.
You continue to stare off into the dense patch of woods. Maybe it's more than a patch. It's a forest. It was comforting to you. You sit and wait for Trixie to return.
