Prologue (Earth) Written By: Sonic Mario3 and TheCloudtop Reviewed By: Dartunner Sonic the Hedgehog, the Fastest Thing Alive... Too bad he’s so slow. Being gone for a whole year... So foolish. And to think, all of the times he bested me, the times he nearly killed me, but spared my life out of the kindness in his heart... He’s wasted so much of my time. But now... Now, I control half of the continental United States of America... And soon, I shall control the entire world, with the help of the Seven Chaos Emeralds... Eggman, a fat human with a bald head, a long mustache, wearing a red jacket and black skin tight pants, stood in the middle of a room filled with machines. Machines of destruction. Doctor Eggman was the rival of the blue blur, Sonic the Hedgehog. Over the years, they fought again and again, a never ending battle of good vs. evil. But now, Eggman had come out on top. “The only thing stopping me now, are his pesky friends... The Freedom Fighters...” He smirked. The Freedom Fighters, a ragtag group of rebels who opposed Eggman’s rule. They were led by Miles Tails Prower, a two tailed fox, and Sonic’s former best friend. They would never stand a chance against his new creations... The Chaos Blaster. A weapon made to tear atoms apart, right down the middle. The weapon was sleek, black, made of stainless steel. It was virtually indestructable, only able to be destroyed by a nuclear bomb. The Fighters wouldn’t stand a chance. But, that’s not even the most powerful of his creations. No, he had several more. The Tails Doll. A simple plushie resembling Tails. But, this Doll... it had a sinister secret. Being powered by a red gem protruding from the top of it’s head, it’s able to think of it’s own free will, but it has only one rule hardwired into it’s brain. It can not disobey Eggman. It has the power to kill, and would have no problem doing so. And then, there was Metal Knuckles. Based off one of the Freedom Fighters, and superior to Knuckles the Echidna in every way. It was stronger, faster, and frankly, not an idiot like the red fighter. And finally, his personal favorite. It was a simple robot... Made to resemble himself. The Egg Robo. Only to be activated in the case of dire need, it has every memory Eggman has, every drop of his personality, and every fiber of his being. It was superior to himself in every way. He again smiled to himself. There was fighting right outside his base. The Freedom Fighters were here. He walked over to a small window which overlooked an ocean. On the beach below, he could spot several teams of Freedom Fighters from around the globe. Tails... Knuckles... Amy Rose... Shadow the Hedgehog... They were all here. He quietly laughed to himself. Perfect... He pulled a remote control out of his pocket which had three buttons on it. Pressing the first one, a red glow illuminated the room. “Tails Doll activated.” A feminine, robotic voice called out. Several Fighters on the beach stopped the fighting with the Egg Pawns to look around, but saw nothing. Smirking again, Eggman pointed to Tails. “Kill him.” “Yes, my master.” A demonic voice answered, the source of it rocketing through the ceiling. If I shall fall today... Remember what you see here, Robo... “But of course, my master.” ... “You seem troubled.” Silence, Robo. Nothing troubles me. Not anymore. Not since he disappeared. Eggman silenced Robo’s voice inside his head, and continued watching the carnage from down below. The Fighters were winning. The Tails Doll had failed. So had the Egg Pawns. Pressing the second button on the remote, Metal Knuckles flies out of the same hole Tails Doll made, leaving a trail of smoke behind. Eggman’s smirk turned into an expressionless look, but a glimmer remained in the egg-shaped man’s eyes. “Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho!” He laughs. He laughed, and laughed as an explosion booms outside. Metal Knuckles had fallen. Damn it. “Today may be the day, Master.” I am old, Robo, but I can still fight. If any Fighters make it up here, kill them on sight. My empire shall not fall today. “....” Do you doubt me, Robo? “I doubt your mental state. You are old, as you said. You are not stable. Your mind has deteriorated over the years.” Then watch me die. With that, Eggman leaves the room, with the Egg Robo still inactive. Tails flew over the battleground, looking for any robots they may have missed. His two tails spun, keeping the yellow fox propelled in the air. Tails, finding no robots, flew back down to his team of Freedom Fighters. He, being the leader, ever since... He left, he had toughened up since the whole “Amusement Park in Space” incident. His feet touched the sand. On the beach, the Fighters had suffered no casualties. There were a few injuries, all non-fatal, but some Fighters had to be taken back to base. He looked around, seeing his teammates helping each other tend to wounds, and some picking up pieces of robots and placing them into a pile. The metal could be used to make some more weapons. “Freedom Fighters!” He called. Everyone looked at their leader. A smirk crossed his face, and he pointed to the tower that overlooked them. “Eggman is in there. I’m gonna send a team of four to make sure the first floor is safe.” He pointed to Shadow the Hedgehog, Silver the Hedgehog, Knuckles the Echidna and Amy Rose. “You four will be that team.” He then pointed to two other Fighters. “You two, get up high. Guide us through the building safely. Destroy any robots on sight.” The two Freedom Fighters reloaded their weapons, and rocket into the air, using jetpacks Tails had made the day before. “Alright, everyone else, I’ll go in with you once they give the all-clear. Ready?” Tails turned to face the building. “Go.” Eggman walked down the hall, with two orange Egg Pawns on his left and two green Egg Pawns to his right. If he was going to survive this battle, then he would need to take drastic measures. Metal Sonic. He hadn’t been woken since he tried to became the Metal Overlord, but Eggman was desperate. Walking in front of a metal doorway, with a sign that read “Authorized Personnel Only”. On the third floor, he stopped and pressed a button on the wall. A small panel slid out of place, revealing a keycode. Pressing in a 100 character combination only he knew, the door opened, revealing a dark room. Eggman snapped, causing the lights to flash on. Eggman flinched from the sudden light. “Egg Pawns. Secure the second floor. They’re coming.” Eggman ordered. “Yes, Eggman!” The robots said, giving their master a salute before walking off, their feet making a clang, which echoed in the hall. As soon as they stepped down the stairs, Eggman could hear the explosions as they were destroyed by the Freedom Fighters. The Pawns never stood a chance. “Metal Sonic.” His voice lingered in the air, as if it were holding onto it, as if it knew he were to die. “Computer. Open the doors to Metal Sonic’s cage.” He said flatly. “Now.” A faint beeping was heard, and a slow rumble roared in his ears. “Metal Sonic. The time has come... You are free.” On the second floor, Tails lead his team through the building. He had deactivated the security cameras with his signal blockers, which allowed them to sneak through the building with ease. He halted his team, and took a look at his infrared watch. "Eggman's directly above us. Knuckles!" The red Echidna nodded, taking Tails' spot. "Got it. Stand back." Eggman stood, watching the spot where his metallic recreation of his greatest foe was a second earlier. You old fool.... You know that he cannot win. With a sigh, he turned on his heels to walk back to his lair, when a red blur crashed through the floor, and bounced over to him. “Well, hey there, Egghead!” A smile crossed Eggman’s lips. It was finally happening. The day he fell. And he was happy. He managed to bring himself to be content with his life years ago. Battling Sonic, he knew he had only a few years left anyway. Now, it would finally come to pass. The day Doctor Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik fell. “Hello, Knuckles.” With such a simple response, Knuckles’ guard fell. He straightened his back and lowered his fists, and a frown found his way to his face. “Well, Eggman, I expected there to be some kind of trap. With what you’ve managed to do since Sonic left, I’m surprised I’m not dead yet.” He chuckled. “Guess you’re getting too old for this.” Eggman laughed along with his red enemy. “Oh, yes, my dear Knuckles. I am old. But that doesn’t mean I’m not prepared.” With another laugh, Eggman reached behind his back, and pulled out his last resort. A small pistol. And it was pointed straight at Knuckles. The Echidna was momentarily startled, but he regained his composure, and punched Eggman across the face, causing him to drop the gun. “Nice try. Too bad it didn’t work!” With another punch, his sharp knuckles embedded themselves deep within Eggman’s abdomen. Nothing fatal, but he couldn’t fight anymore. Withdrawing his fist, Knuckles laughed. “Tails. It’s time.” The fox in question flew up from the hole Knuckles had made minutes before, and looked at the heap that had became of their former dictator. “I suppose it is.” “Sonic would have never done this.” “Don’t mention that hedgehog. It doesn’t matter if he would have done it or not. It happened. And Eggman deserves what’s coming to him.” Tails bent down slowly, and picked up the small pistol Eggman had dropped. “And he’ll get it.” Putting his finger on the trigger, he whispered one final farewell to his former enemy. “See you in Hell, you bastard.” And with a loud bang, Eggman was no more. In the dark room that the human Master Eggman had called his lair, a robot sat in the shadows. He felt it. The old fool was dead. “I warned him.” The robot’s jets near his bottom fired up, and he launched himself through the window, ready to take on the blue hedgehog called Sonic.
