Slightly more serious mareXmare reproduction explained
Previous ChapterSo, if you've seen Midnight's pedigree, you might have noticed that Daylight was the first in quite a bit to actually use a stallion for her reproductive purposes. But why is that?
You see, two mares reproducing is actually fairly easy. Have one unicorn and do what comes naturally. Yes, I do support the theory of magical orgasm.
But even if neither of the pair has a horn, there are supporting spells which can provide temporaries of what is needed to oneself or others, in case it's necessary or you're not into horns. Despite that, it is logical that regions like Canterlot have a significantly higher population of mares.
Exactly why that happens so often is easily explained. See, a foal growing up with two mothers will certainly have some preferences towards which gender to love. Not to mention that Equestria's population is 95% female, which also has cause in that two mares will only produce more fillies. So unless you can get ten of 'em pregnant each season (actually a moderate feat for wild stallions -_-_--) you're on a dying species.
Ironic, coming to think of it, that I specialised in homosexual mares exactly because they could not reproduce. And, hell, let's make it possible for magic to impregnate somepony even if she's not in heat. Because why the fuck not.
I now have the unquenchable desire to have Midnight identify a secret filly fooler at work because her (the patient's) pregnancy is far off rhythm with the heat.
