Introductions.
My name is Joseph Bycroft, though to my my friends, which are few and far between, I am either Joe, or Joey. I am an over achieving scientist that has been working to create, or atleast, come close to creating the world's first time-dimensional location, and relocation device. I call it an awakening device, in hopes that it will open this world's, and other's eyes to see the progression of technology.
My friend and collegue Jack Arving, and I were working on the final touches for project awakening when all this started. We were on the last few dollars of our government subsidise, so we were going cheap and relatively unsafe. We decided to start up the base electronics on the machines main router and info panell. Everything was working great so we took a risk. we searched up my home, in 1978 by typing in the following code: 1887b-4128zx-set_time-1-9-7-8_coordinates-1327bB-Freemont-avenue_Freemont-Ave./97778(track-coordinates)00154(locate-time).
The awakening deviced started up and I heard the whure of cogs, and speeding particles that were kept in one general area using a magnetic field. At first nothing exiting happened, but then, after five or so minutes watching for warning to pop-up on the screen, we saw a picture. There was a small grove of land next to a mansion, and in that grove of land were three kids playing, two boys and one girl. I guessed that the girl was my mom, Sheryl, She had told me what she looked like, and that here two best friends were Tom, and my dad, Jacob Zarcove. Looking down on them from a digital screen, I could tell they were an inseperable pair. Slowly our view zoomed down, and in; as if we were jmping from a ledge in slow motion, at this the long-awaited warning sign popped up, it read "Warning external memory file corrupt, system failure iminent." While Jack and I were trying to shut the machine down, I wondered how it got corrupted. There were no competetors, almost everyone had givin up on this project, the only reason we got the subsidise was because the government wanted to be at the front of technology and Germany was working on a machine that could teleport small packages. There was a bright flash of light and a loud bang, but when my vision cleared I knew I was not in the lab, the machine had taken on an extra power-source, and teleported me somewhere. The three main questions floating around in my head were, where am I, when am I, and how am I.
I slowly got up feeling a growing pain, and a tingling near my shoulders, though I couldn't pinpoint where. Looking around I saw a weird creature sitting in a chair, and immediatly knew that I was in another dimensoin. The creature just sat there and looked at me, as if it was sizing up what had just happened. I used it's non-response to my advantage, and sized it up myself. It looked like it was a mix of a human, wolf, squid, and bird. It had the head and neck of a Grey wolf, but as it's muzzle extended it formed into squid like tentacles, with a beak hanging out of them. The body of this creature was more bird-like than anything else on it's body, it had wings as well as arms, and it was covered in feathers. The arms shifted from feather to fur, and each of it's fingers had claws. Moving my eyes down to it's legs I immediatly though of a were wolf, for that is what they looked like they belonged to.
After maybe ten or so minutes of looking eachother over there was a bright green and red light and a pop. I turned my sore neck to look over at what had just appeared, hoping that it was Jack and that he had come to take me back to earth. Looking at what had just appeard though, I knew it wasn't. Standing next to me was a red pony with green spiked hair, but the one thing that cought my eye about it was the horn sticking out of it fore-head. The thing that I noticed after that was the tattoe on it's flank, it was a testtube filled with a blue liquid. It slowly got to it's hooves, and took a slow look around, at first it was excited and shouted, It worked! It finally worked! but it slowly realized it was stuck in an unknown dimension on an unknown world, just like me, and began to panic. I saw it's eyes move around, looking for an exit, so I decided to be the first thing in the room to speak up, "How did I get here?" I asked looking questioningly at the squid, " What are you?"
"I am chrain, god of time, and evolution." was it's simple reply, " As for how you got here I have no Idea, nor do I have any idea how that unicorn got here. You are on planet xc-1, more specificly my house." There was a loud boom! outside and it shook the whole house sending the unicorn into a crazed rampage.
"What was that!?!?" I shouted, my ears still ringing from the sound an intensity of the explosion. "What's going on!!"
"My world has been at war for millenia. Oryx has been fighting for power and is slowly breaking through our defenses, I would guess this is his seventeenth attack in this area."
"Theres a war going on!?!?!?" shouted the red unicorn, fear and disbelief in it's voice, "Send me back now!!!" the anger in it's voice surprised me as it said these words.
"I can't, not until Oryx is defeated, if I do then he will track down my teleportation, and beleive I am fleeing. He will send forces after you and destroy your world. Once this is over, and Oryx has been defeated though, I will gladly send you back." Chrain said with a tinge of sorrow. "I just hope it is soon."
"Wait," I said with slight shock at what I had heard. "Your'e saying that you won't send us back to our dimensions until Oryx dies?"
"Yes" he said.
"What if we defeat him, will you send us back?" I asked, probably sounding a bit too hopeful. I crossed my fingers and prayed to every god in every dimension, including Chairn that his answer would be a good one.
"Sure, if you think you can kill him go a-head and try. I won't stop you, infact I would reward you. Whatever you want." He said enthusiasticly.
"Don't I get a say in this?" the unicorn asked frantically. "I don't want to fight anything, let alone kill something!"
"Neither do I," I told him calmly, hoping he would see reason, "But it is our best chance at getting back to our dimensions." Both me and Chrain looked at the pony awaiting a reply, hopefuly it would agree, but their was no telling what he would say.
"Alright, I'll do it." He responded hesitantly. he looked down, and shuffled his feet; as though he was nervouse. I knew that he didn't want to do this, and just looking at him he seemed about to cry.
"well, then let's get going." I said heading for the door.
"Wait!" shouted Chrain, "You don't expect to defeat Oryx without weapons do you?" As he said this a light laugh escaped his lips at my simple mistake, costly, but simple. "I can give you a weapon of choice seeing as you have none of your own, choose from a broad sword, elmwood bow, or a mage's staff." As soon as he said it, I knew what I wanted.
"Broad sword, definetly the broad swort." The reason I chose the broad sword, was because my family is originally scottish, and it felt natural. As he summoned up the sword there was another bang, and a crack appeared in the doorway, quickly forming as the door started to break away.
"And what about you, my young unicorn? what shall you choose."Chrain said
"I'll just with my horn, and my magical capabilities." He answered, looking at us.
"Very well." replied Chrain, Tossing me my broad sword, he also borught out his own weapon, it was a staff of sorts, golden in color, with an hour glass on the top. He also summoned a few sand creatures, that formed a half circle around the door shoud it break.Just as they got into full half-circle formation the door broke down.
well this is the first chapter of my story, cliffhangers are fun, so I thouht I'd add one.
