The Origin of Derpy, Part 2 Chapter 2: Explinations

Redheart leaned her head back, slouching in her chair some as she exhaled a sigh. Regaining her posture she placed the bowl of melting ice cream on a table that stood next to my hospital bed. She let out a shaky exhale before beginning.

"Ms. Lily, is still on the loose, you heard that right?" I nodded a yes in response. "Okay well, after you, Daze and the baby were rushed to the hospital, Maverick went to the compound to investigate it further. Possibly even gain some leads as to where she had run off to. What he found though... Was something he had not been expecting. Maverick had found..."

~~~~
"You see anything down there sir?" Rex called out to his squad leader who was making his way down the spiral staircase of the mines abyss.
"I cant see my own hoof in front of my face down here!" Maverick called back up. He was only about half way down the mine and already the light had become scarce. The only way he was able to continue downwards was because of a very dim light at the end of the tube, where the real mine began.
Maverick had already been through Ms. Lily's Office, the tower, all of the rooms and even Ms. Lily's so called 'experiment' room, searching for her. The spell she used to get away was a short range teleportation spell, and with that knowledge Maverick knew that she couldn't have gotten far. She had to have teleported somewhere within the compound or at the very least one hundred yards away from it. The mines were the last place he would check before he would be fresh out of ways to pick up the scent of her trail.
Maverick arrived at the bottom of the mines where 6 tunnels darted out in all different directions.
"Shit, which way now?" Maverick looked around at the walls and the roofs of each tunnel. None of which gave  off any signifying distinction between each other. He the grabbed a torch from one of the walls and began to investigate more thoroughly. But still no evidence came up. He thought of the possibility of going through each tunnel individually but he quickly dismissed the idea. It would be far too time consuming and would risk the safety of him and his men to even attempt at doing so. Frustrated and disappointed with the results of his searching he plopped himself on the floor of the mine, creating a loud thud.
"Sir! Can you hear me?" Rex was coming through on the walkie talkie.
"Yeah watcha need Rex?"
"You better come up and take a look at this."
Maverick sprinted back up out of the mine shaft and headed towards where he had sent Rex investigating, the kitchen; yes even the kitchen needed to be searched, they had to leave no stone unturned before they could leave. When he arrived in the kitchen Maverick's sprint suddenly came to an end as he saw what Rex was going on about. Rex had found a room hidden behind the brick stone oven in the kitchen. It was a small room no wider than 10 feet and no taller than 12. Within the room was a railway tracking leading into an underground cave that point out of the compound. But that wasn't what caught Maverick's attention. No, it was the writing of blood on the wall.
All shall be cleansed or shall perish. For those who believe in him, weep not today, for it is a joyous one. Let the purging begin.
"She is one sick fuck..." Rex muttered under his breath.
Maverick just continued to stand their as his heart twisted each time he read those words. Agape and awe struck his jaw began to quiver. He began to burst out in a cold sweat as adrenaline pumped through his veins.
"Sir? Sir! SIR! Are you ALRIGHT?!" Rex screamed at his commander; waving his hoof in front of his face. Maverick shook his head and blinked a few times to snap himself out of his state.
"W-what? Oh, yeah i'm fine..."
"What does it mean? 'Those who believe in him'. Sir?"
"I-I don't know." That was a damn lie. Maverick knew full well who he was. and his name was-...
~~~~

"What was his name?!" I asked; literally hanging on the edge of my seat.

"I don't know. He wouldn't tell me. He said for security reasons of not only me but the state he couldn't tell me." Redheart paused for a moment. "Let's not talk about this gloom and doom anymore, alright?" I shook my head at her proposal.

"No, I need to know."

"Fine..." Redheart sighed at my request, lowering her head some.

"So what happened next?"

"Well, he began to follow the where the mine lead to..."

~~~~
The mine had lead Rex and Maverick well below the surface into a open room with six different tunnels leading in all directions; it resembled the original mines layout.
"Shit! It's exactly the same as the other one!" Maverick said circling around on the midpoint of the room where all the railways intersected.
"Maybe not sir, look at this." Rex said looking at the ground down at a specific tunnel
"What is it?" Maverick asked has he took his said by Rex.
"Look." Rex pointed to dried blood droplets in the dirt.
Maverick though on the clue for a second. "She must have cut herself to write that message back there..."
"Like I said, one sick fuck..."
~~~~

"Maverick and Rex continued down the that tunnel and...."

"And what?"

Redheart bit her lower lip hard; it looked as if she may draw blood. Her eye's clenched themselves shut. Her hoof curled up into a ball as she gripped her fur on her legs.

"They found others." She said allowing a single tear to fall down and roll off of her chin.

"Other's?"

'Other compounds... At the end of the first tunnel they found another one, then another one, then another... Each one filled with hundreds...Thousand's of foal's.... All piled up on top of each other, dead. " Redheart slammed the table of which she had placed the bowl of ice cream on earlier, knocking it off the edge. "SHE KILLED THEM! ALL THOSE INNOCENT SOULS, SHE KILLED THEM! AND FOR WHAT?! FOR WHAT PURPOSE DID THEY SERVE!"

The room became ere as the only sound that could be heard was Ms. Redheart sobbing aloud. She forcefully wiped her snot and tears clean from her face before looking back at me.

"Why Derpy!? Why would... How could somepony do this? They had their whole lives ahead of them! Gone, all gone, never to be seen on the earth again!" She grabbed both my shoulders and gently shook me. "WHY!?" She collapsed on my lap, crying her eye's out. I did the only thing I could do in that situation, I tried to calm her by gently running my hoof through her hair as I hung my head low and began to cry along with her.

We remained there for a while before Redheart was finally able to regain herself. She gently wiped the tears from under her eye's and looked me dead in the eye.

"No more. I don't want you to hear anymore. I can't bare telling you anymore... Please don't make me."

I gently nodded my head and looked away. An awkward silence befell the both of us as we both sat there, not sure of what to talk about. That is until much to my surprise Redheart began talking again.

"I suppose however, you want to know about me and Maverick. Right?"

"yeah. I do."

"Well, you have been out for five weeks now. Everyday I would come to visit you here, so if you had made any progress; Maverick did the same. Everyday we would run into each other while visiting you, and eventually after a month he asked if I would like to join him for dinner. He said I looked like I could use some company at the time." Her cheeks became red as she recalled that moment.

"So I did, and after that it became kind of a habit with us. We would visit you at the same time everyday and afterwards we would enjoy each others company until... Well... Until we started going out."

"How long have you two been going out now?"

"About two weeks now."

"That's sweet." I said giving a smile, still trying to cheer her up as much as possible from the previous topic.

A knock was heard at the door as we finished our conversation. A beige colt poked his head into the room. He was wearing a large white coat and holding a clipboard with papers on it.

"Excuse me, I hope I'm not interrupting anything"

"Oh no, please do come in." Redheart said beckoning for the doctor to make his way in.

"Oh good, she's up. That makes this a little easier then." He said turning his direction from me to mom. "So as we discussed earlier Ms. Redheart, Derpy is in fine condition and is able to return home today. I just needed to fill out all of the paperwork and such, and now that it's done I just need you to fill out your part Ms. Redheart."

Mom looked back at me. "Okay, I'm going with the doctor for a bit. Once I come back we'll leave and go home, sound good?"

"Mmhmm."

"Alright." Patted my lap twice before getting up to follow the doctor out of the room. The two closed the door leaving me to my thoughts.

I sat there for a few minutes before a candy striper came in and took her side next to me.

"Good morning deary. Word on the street is your getting out of here, lucky you!" She gave me a cheerful smile as she began disconnecting all the equipment that was attached to me.

"Yeah... Lucky me." I gave her an emotionless response, my mind a million miles away. Focused on the fact that Ms. Lily was free and what she was continuing to do.

"Oh come on, give me a smile! You get to go home after all. Doesn't that make you happy?"

I looked back at the candy striper who was being persistent in striking up a conversation with me. "Sorry, my thoughts are elsewhere... It does make me happy though." I gave her a smile in hopes that it would be to her satisfaction and she could leave me alone with my thought's.

She continued to fondle the equipment that was attached to me. Removing various needles from my arm and the heart monitor from the end of my hoof.

"See that's more like it, but in all honesty you should be beaming with joy." She said as she stretched her smile further, encouraging me to do so too. I did not give her a response. She then gathered all the things and set them on the table by my side before making her way to the door. She opened the door and looked slowly back to me. Then said one more sentence before exiting the room.

"We should all smile. We should all rejoice... After all, He is returning..."
